Hey dolls, how ya been? I’m coming at’cha with a beauty related post …. can you believe it? I know finally the makeup bag gets used!!
So I’m starting by saying I have made A LOT of changes …. guuurrrllll I mean A LOT!
First change, my makeup sanctuary has received a much needed, and much appreciated (thanks babe for the early Christmas present) upgrade.
I loved the way I was set up; however I didn’t have enough comfort whist I crayolaed my face and I banged the hell out of my knees on a daily. With my station setup this way I also I had to constantly get out of my broke down computer chair to get something from one of the ends of the dresser. This dresser was also so old that the drawers would unremittingly fall on my toes anytime I tried to retrieve something out of them.
We originally wanted the Alex desk that has the drawers attached, however I
didn’t know that it was officially called LINNMON/Alex Table so when we looked it up to get the location we couldn’t find it …. and so this pretty little desk was the one we purchased. I’m so in love with this damn desk you have NOOOOOOO idea!!!
I didn’t have as much space to work with so I used this really cute lazy susan that I picked up for $3.00 at a yard sale over the weekend and I put all my lippies , foundations, setting sprays, primers, and setting powders on it and that freed up so much space now.
there are some pros and cons to this desk…. this will not be me bitching or whining about my desk …. I still very much love my desk, I just want to give you an honest review of this desk just in case you are looking to pick one up.
Wait, what are you eye balling? … why yes, yes those are milk crates, I call it my nail station …. awww come on …. that was funny waaaiiittt …. where you going, ok , ok come back here …. I wont make any more bad jokes I promise, well … I hope I promise.
So back to our convo …
Let’s start with cons…… There is less internal storage than that of the desk with the Alex 5 drawer attached since there is only 2 drawers, which brings me to con #2 ….
the drawers are wide however they aren’t deep enough to store my palettes upright. The only ones that are sized right to store upright are the Urban Decay Naked Palettes. The rest of the palettes that I own I have to lay flat, which takes up a ton of prime real estate.
My last con …. The drawer stoppers … UGH, ok so I do have to bitch about this con.
Who the hell woke up one morning and said , hmmm , lets create an amazing desk and and than make it impossible to open the drawers in said desk…. oh and just for shits and giggles , lets also make it impossible to close again , without smashing one’s fingers in the damn thing. Again I say …. UGH!!!!
Now for the pros….
There is plenty of surface space to have some acrylic makeup storage on the desk and still have room for your laptop .
Pro #2 : since there aren’t any additional storage units under the desk there is so much space for your legs, or to share the desk with someone else wanting to get all dolled up , or to maybe even teach someone else how to do their makeup (always a fun experience for me) .
Pro#3: there is a hidden channel towards the back end of the desk that always you to store your wires so that you can have your laptop, cell phone, flat iron, or whatever you wish plugged in and not have a heap of messy wires everywhere.
The price tag is a bit more spendy but it’s a good quality desk that not only is sturdy but so pretty to look at.
