The Sun is Bright and Loving

Hey doll hey! Hope you are doing good and for those of you with illnesses I pray that you have plenty of spoons today.

I am low on spoons today, feels like I have the flu even though I don’t. I got plenty of rest last night but woke up exhausted today. I think I might be falling into a flair up (sad panda).

My hubby had to work today so I thought I would still do my makeup for when he gets home. ( Lately I hadn’t been able to do my makeup because I fell into a deep depression.. but the grey clouds have parted and the sun is bright and loving. )

Today I decided to do a natural look since I didn’t feel very well.

Base: For my primer I used Makeup Forever Step 1 Smoothing Primer ($37 at Sephora). For foundation I used Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear ($47 at Sephora) in the color 270 Bisque W. The concealer I chose, first I used a color correcter since I woke up with dark circles I chose Tarte Colored Clay CC Undereye Corrector ($25 at Ulta and Sephora) in the color light medium followed by  Makeup Forever Ultra HD (discontinued but can be found on Glambot’s website $14.50) in the color R22. To set my face I used my tried and true Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Sephora) in translucent.  I forgot I had the bronzer I used, and forgot how much I enjoy it …. Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer ($7.69 at Target) in the color bronze.

Eyes: For my eyes I used Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta or on Tatre’s website) in the color light medium honey. I chose a pallet I completely forgot I had and that I truly adore. I chose Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Pallet ($36 on the Kat Von D website, also sold at Sephora). I used Ludwin all over my eye space to set the base. I went very simple today so I only used 1 transition color – Laetus. AS my crease color I used Lucius and than I deepened the out v and half the crease with Solas. as my lid color I chosae Samael and I layered Urban Decay single eyeshade pot ($20 at Ulta) in Midnight Cowboy and for my inner highlight I used Hikari Cream Pigment ($15 on the Hikari website) in the color honey dew. For my brow bone I used Saleos from the Shade and Light pallet. My Eyes are a bit sensitive today ( I think it’s because of the eyeliner I used in yesterday’s Face of the day) so I just used Shax from the Shade and Light pallet as liner. For my lower lid I used Lucius and Shax. For my inner lower rim of my eye I used NYX Faux Whites Eye Brightener (Regularly $8 on sale for $5.50 for Cyber Week on the NYX website) in the color Linen. I ran out of my all time favorite mascara ( Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black) and had to order 2 more from Ulta so I cracked open 2 new ones … first I used my Loreal Voluminous Base ($5.99 at Target) …. I use this lash primer anytime I have to use any other mascara other than my favorite one…. for my lower lashes I used Urban Decay Perversion Mascara ($24 for full sized $14 for travel sized but the full size is on SALE for $10 on both Ulta and Urban Decay’s websites) and on my upper lashed I used It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-in-1 Mascara (regularly $24 at Ulta and the It Cosmetics website… however is on sale for $19 on the It Cosmetics website). My brows are the same as always – Professional Brow Powder from my brow bar Oh La La ($10) in dark brown.

Finish: For blush I chose NARS blush ($30 at Sephora, Ulta, and NARS website) in the color Dolce Vita. I chose a softer more subtle highlight, Laura Mercier Matter Radiance Baked Powder (regularly $40 but on sale on her website for $31.50 … can also pick it up at Sephora for full price) in the color Highlight 01. Finally lips… I  used Lancome L’absolu NU lipstick (normally $32.50 but you can only get it on the Brigette’s Boutique for $17) in the color Buff Silk which I paired with Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner ($19 at Sephora and the Kat Von D website) in the color LoveCraft.

The Makeup Forever Step 1 primer goes on velvety and holds foundation beautifully. The only down side is it does nothing to blur my pores. This primer is billed as a pore refining primer but for me it just reduces the sight of my pores. Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear is billed as a 24 hour transfer free long wearing foundation. I haven’t worn it for 24 hours but I have had a few 18 hour days where this foundation has stayed in place perfectly. It’s a light medium coverage foundation that comes in 50 shades ranging from fair skin with neutral undertone to dark ebony skin with cool/pink undertones . There are 11 shades for darker skin. The Tarte Colored Clay CC Undereye Corrector is the only color corrector I use for my under eye. I brightens the area so perfectly that I haven’t wanted to try any other corrector. It comes in 2 shades light medium and medium tan. The down side, it only comes in 2 tones…. there is nothing for darker skinned dolls.            I am so very sad that the Makeup Forever HD concealer was discontinued. A little of this concealer goes a long way so I wont need to go on a hunt for a replacement for it. HD concealer leaves a smooth bright look to the under eye. It comes in 26 colors with only 5 deep shades. After a little research I have found that Makeup Forever replaced it with Ultra HD Self setting concealer which comes in 26 colors, 5 of which are deeper in shade and sells for $28 at Ulta, Shephora , and Makeup Forever’s website. Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer was all I would wear in the summer. It smells amazing and truly goes on like butter. This bronzer is orange based and comes in 4 shades with no shades for deeper skin.

Kat Von D’s Shade and Light Eye Contour Pallet is amazing! It has 12 shades and 3 color ways, neutral, smoky, and a cross between neutral and smoky. This is a great pallet for all skin tones. The shadows are buttery however there is tons of kick back with these shadows because they are so finely milled. These shades are highly pigmented and blend well together. Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara is good in a pinch but I’m not sure that it’s worth the price tag. It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-in-1 Mascara  is really good, I’d use it again. I just hate the brush… it’s a plastic brush with a bulb on the tip… not my cup of tea but I definitely will use it again.

The NARS blush was the first thing I purchased from NARS. I’m in love with the color I chose and I love how well it applies, the only thing I am not to keen on is that it has a bit of sparkle to it. I am more the matte blush type girl. The Laura Mercier Matter Radiance Baked Powder is my favorite highlighter EVER. It’s finely milled and buildable. On causal days I can throw a light amount on and it pulls the look together nicely, on specail occasions I can build up the intensity by wetting my highlighter brush with a bit of MAC fix plus. I have even been known to wear it across the high points of my face on no makeup or “no makeup” makeup days.

Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liners are crazy pigmented. They go on smooth and meld into the lips perfectly. The only down side is they are so creamy that they transfer easily. The Lancome L’absolu NU lipstick line I believe is discontinued as I wasn’t able to find it online other than at Brigette’s Boutique. Well you can find it on Amazon but I have had bad experiences purchasing makeup from Amazon so it’s not an option for me.

Well that’s it for me today dolls …. stay tuned tomorrow when I review 2 pallets from ColourPop.

Ta ta for now and remember beauties …. save a spoon for a bit of lipstick. XOXO
