Plenty of Spoons Reserved a Makeup Review

Why hello there doll! How are you doing today? Me? I’m doing good today, plenty of spoons. I was excited to sit down at my vanity and play with my new eyeshadow palettes.

Today I chose to do a neutral look again since I was just going to be around the house. I was having a good energy day and wanted to reserve some of those spoons so I chose to just stick around home for the day.

As promised yesterday I reviewed the new ColourPop Going Coconuts and Brown Sugar palettes ( click here -> ColourPop Review for my full review of both palettes).

Base: I hadn’t used my Marc Jacobs makeup in a while so I picked Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer ($45 at Sephora). I then used Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($45 at Sephora) in the color Dew You?. The foundation I chose was Marc Jaconbs Re(marc)able Full Cover Foundation Concentrate ($45 at Sephora) in the color Beige Medium ( just a tad too dark for the colder months but I think I made it work). My concealer is Stilla Aqua Glow (discontinued but can be found on Mercari and Poshmark, when I purchased it it was $27 at Sephora) in the color light medium and then I set it with ELF smooth and set eye powder ($4 at walmart, target and the ELF website). I used Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in translucent ($39 at Sephora). I bronzed my face with MAC Mineralize Skin Finish ($36 at MAC) in Give Me Sun!.

Eyes: Tarte Shape Tape as per the usually ($27 on Tarte’s website) in the color light medium honey. As promised I tested out 2 new palettes from ColourPop, Going Coconuts and Brown Sugar. To set my lids I used Shredded and for my first transition color I used Lovely Bunch and my second transition shade is Shell Yeah from the Going Coconuts palette. For my first crease color I picked Sorrel followed by Choc from the Brown Sugar palette and then it’s back to the Going Coconuts palette for my outer v I used Nutty. (I also used Nutty on the out 1/3 of my lid on the other 2/3 of my lid I used Coco Crush from the same palette and Ginger from the Brown Sugar palette. for my inner corner highlight I used Palm Reader from the Going Nuts palette. My brow bone highlight I used Shredded again but I layered they Wet n Wild Color Icon ($0.99 at Walgreens) in the color Sugar. To line my lids I used Kat Von D Tattoo liner ($20 at Sephora) in Mad Max Brown and I lined the lower lashes with Choco and Henna eyeshadow from the Brown Sugar palette. I used the Loreal Voluminous Base Eyelash Primer ($5.99 at Target) and paired it with Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara ($23 at Ulta and Tarte websites …. Tarte is having a 25% off sale right now). The eyebrows are the same as they always are I used the brow powder I get at my brow bar. I set my brows today with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel ($22 at Ulta) in clear.

Cheeks and Lips: Let’s talk highlighter I used Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder ($5.99 on the Wet n Wild website and at Walgreens) in the color Precious Petals. To keep the whole ColourPop love going I used the ColourPop Super Shock Cheek (regularly $8 on sale for $5.60 on the ColourPop website) in the color Birthday Suit. Last but not least Lips … I used NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner (regularly $4 but on sale for 2.80 on the NYX website) in the color Tea and Cookies followed by MAC Satin Lipstick ($18.50 at Ulta and MAC) in the color Brave.

The Review:

The Marc Jacobs Primer, Dew Drops, and Foundation have been in my makeup rotation for a while now, so much so that I am almost out of primer. Yes these three little babies are expensive. The primer is really good, it’s kind of like the Too Faced Hanger RX primer ($34 at Ulta) however it’s lighter, less greasy, and the smell is not over powering with the Marc Jacobs primer. As I said I’m almost out and will definitely be repurchasing it. It is a cream formula that is super hydrating. It’s not a pore refining but I don’t mind because the Re(marc)able Full Cover Foundation does a good job of not settling into the pores. It’s definitely a pricey foundation but a little goes a long way and I do mean a little. I just use the amount that is on the applicator without having to dip back into my product. I will more then likely be repurchasing this foundation, I really enjoy the way it feels on my skin, even though it is a bit tacky on the skin, it’s no too tacky and you can get away without setting it. As for the Dew Drops… Not my favorite. You have to be super careful to use just the smallest amount possible or you end up looking like a disco ball. I had to wipe my face twice to get the glittery mess taken care of. I used it under my foundation like I do with BECCA backlight priming filter ($ 39 at Ulta and Sephora). I can still see glitter even with my setting powder in place. I will not be repurchasing this one because I feel that the BECCA, one in my opinion is better.

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish is finely milled and silky but unlike my other bronzers I had to do several layers to get color pay off. The Going Coconuts and Brown Sugar palettes I did a stand alone review for( ColourPop Review ) So I will just say I am so happy I purchased it. What can I say about Wet n Wild … they know what they are doing when it comes to highlight!! Precious Petals is so beautiful on the skin! Their eyeshadow singles are amazing too and you can’t beat the price 99 cents. I don’t know how I feel about the Stilla concealer yet. It goes on beautifully but settles into my fine lines. I’ll use it up but Im not sad that is was discontinued.

Kat Von D Tattoo liner comes in black and brown. It’s my favorite liquid liner and well worth the $20 price tag. This liner never skips and never smudges. Tattoo liner also lasts a long time. I purchased the one I have 3 months ago and I use it at least 3 times a week. Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara is new for me. I just opened it today. I really like it. I’m still in love with my Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black but Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara is hot on it’s heels. I don’t mind that I paid $23 for it at all. It’s super black and dries instantly so there is no transfer with this one.

ColourPop Super Shock Cheek was a gift from my husband for my birthday the year before last. I truly love this blush. I hadn’t tried it before today because I kept forgetting I had it but it’s really good. These blushes are a cream to powder finish that is super pigmented and never patchy and long lasting as well. The NYX Suede Matte Lip Liners are a spot on match for MAC lip liner pencils! I tried this one and ended up running to the NYX store to purchase the rest of the colors in the line. (not kidding I totally did this) MAC Satin Lipstick is not as satin as I thought it would be but still very comfortable on the lips. Brave was long wearing, didn’t feather, and was crazy pigmented. Is it just me or do these lipsticks smell like cupcakes?

Well that’s all for now dolls. Thanks for hanging out with me and stay toned tomorrow when I review my skin care routine.

Ta ta for now babies and remember save a spoon for a bit of makeup.

XOXO
