Good morning dolls. We made it to the weekend!! I hope the day finds you with plenty of spoons. I woke up stiff and my Rheumatoid Arthritis is acting up, which is common for cold weather days. I had an abundance of spoons today so I tackled a bronzey smokey eye.
I used the ColourPop Brown Sugar eye shadow palette again today. I have really been enjoying the ColourPop shadows. They go on so buttery and blend like a dream.
Well let’s get started.
Base: For primer I used the Tarte Poreless Mattifying Primer ($32 at Ulta, Sephora, and Tarte’s website) again; I’m trying to use it up since I don’t like the smell, and will not be repurchasing it. Today’s foundation is NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation ($49 at Sephora and NARS’s website) in the color Fiji. For the 3rd day in a row I have woken up with dark circles do to not being able to sleep because of pain, so I used my Tarte CC undereye corrector ($25 at Ulta Sephora and Tarte’s website) in the color light medium. I used Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Concealer (was $25 is now discontinued) in the color medium 22. To bronze my skin I used The Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel ($50 on the Chanel website) in the color Bronze Universal. I set my whole face, including undereyes, with the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Sephora and on the Laura Mercier website) in the color Translucent.
Eyes: I primed my eyes with the Tarte Shape Tape ($19 at Ulta) in the color Light Medium Honey. I chose the ColourPop Brown Sugar Eye Shadow Palette ($15 on the ColourPop website ) and set my lids with the color Chai. As my transition color I chose Jamocha. My crease color is Choc, I also used Choc on the outer 1/3 of my lid. For the outer v I picks a combination of Sorrel and Henna. To line my lower lash line I used a combination of Henna and Choc and then used what was left of Jamocha on my brush to defuse the hard line of eye shadow. On my lids I used Auburn, which I applied with my finger for for maximum payoff. For the inner corner highlight I used Ginger. I then switched to the Going Coconuts palette from ColourPop ($12 on the ColourPop website) and used Shredded for my brow bone highlight. My brows I used the combination of the Ultra Precise Brow Pencil ($5 on the ELF website) and Wow Brow ($4 on the ELF website) from ELF. My liner today is the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner ($20 at Sephora) in Mad Max Brown. For my lashes I used the Loreal Voluminous Base ($5.99 at Target) and paired it with the Balm Whats Your Type? mascara ($19 on The Blam website). On my water line I used The Balm Mr. Write eyeliner ($13 on Balm’s website) in the color Seymour Datenights.
Cheeks and Lips: Today I chose a subtle highlight. I used MAC Mineralize SkinFinish ($36 at MAC and Ulta) in the color Warm Rose. For blush I used NARS blush ($30 at Sephora) in Orgasm. My Lip combo today is Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Pencil ($19 at Sephora) in the color Bow N Arrow and MAC Matte Lipstick ($18.50 at MAC and Sephora) in Velvet Teddy. I added the tiniest amount of the eye shadow Auburn to the center of my lips.
Final Thoughts:
The NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation comes in 20 shades (6 shades for deeper skin) and is billed as a full coverage foundation. At best it is a high medium coverage foundation.
Tarte CC undereye corrector is my favorite under eye treatment. It gets the under eye bright and dewy. I hope it’s never discontinued.
Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Concealer was discontinued and that makes me a sad panda. This concealer is so good!!! It’s thick enough to cover tattoos but thin enough for the under eye.
Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel is my favorite bronzer in my collection. It’s a cream to powder formula that melts into the skin effortlessly. It makes the skin look tan, not look like a fake tan. I even use it on days where I am not wearing makeup. It’s so worth the $50 price tag. You get a ton of product even though it looks like there isn’t a lot of product you actually get 30 grams of bronzer.
The is a reason that the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder is the only setting powder I gravitate to. It’s velvety smooth and,,as long as you use small amounts and build as you go, it never looks cakey.
Tarte Shape Tape is a thick concealer…. I didn’t like it under my eyes but I love it as a primer for my lids. I do you this concealer on my hormonal break outs (its a good spot treatment) but I never use it to correct the skin.
I can’t say enough about the ColourPop eye shadows!! They are so buttery, so pigmented, so blendable, and so affordable!! ColourPop Brown Sugar is a great little neutral toned palette. So is the Going Coconuts palette. I’ve only had these palettes for a week and I can’t get enough of them.
The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner is by far my favorite liquid liner. It glides on smoothly is opaque and dries down matte. It never feathers into the fine lines of my lids and it never fades. It’s a long lasting formula too.
Loreal Voluminous Base is a lash primer that I use anytime I am not using my tried and true Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara. The only time I do not use it, is if I am testing out a new mascara. It really adds thickness and length to the lashes
The Balm Whats Your Type? mascara is slowly gaining my heart. It’s not as black or as voluptuous as the Carbon Black is, but it is a close enough comparison.
The Balm Mr. Write eyeliner in the color Seymour Datenights is flesh toned eyeliner that is great for the water line. It’s not as bright as the NYX FAUX Whites pencil is but it worked really well for today’s look. It’s just bright enough to give the water liner a little pop.
The Precisely Brow and the Wow Brow are my favorite brow products now. I haven’t even looked at my brow powder since trying these. ELF is killing it with products these days.
MAC Mineralize SkinFinish in Warm Rose is the most subtle highlighter I have ever tried. It’s not a glowly highlight, it’s more of a brightening highlighter that works good on smokey eye days. This one is a bit light for my skin in the colder months but looks amazing when I have a tan.
My NARS blush in Orgasm is a mini. This is the first time I am trying this cult classic and boy do I get the hype behind it!!! I just purchased the full size version. It’s prettiest coral blush I own, and I own heaps of coral blushes. It is my second favorite NARS blush (Dolce Vita being the first favorite).
The Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Pencils are some of my favorite formula. They are so creamy and pigmented and they stay put all day. In fact at the end of the day when my lipstick is gone these lip liners are still in place. They are so creamy that I have on occasion used them as a lipstick.
MAC Matte Lipstick in Velvet Teddy is my favorite nude lip. It’s painful for me to use because it was the first lipstick I tried by MAC and the person who introduced me to it was my best friend who passed away a few months ago. It’s a matte formula that doesn’t feel drying. Is it just me or do MAC lipsticks smell like cupcakes???
Well that’s all for now beauty babies. I hope the weekend finds you pain free, or as close to pain free as a spoonie can be, and having plenty of spoons.
Until next time dolls, remember to reserve a spoon for a bit of lipstick.
XOXO
