Good morning dolls. Today we wrap up the Coastal Scents Revealed palette reviews with the 6th and final palette of the series. It’s a dupe palette for the Urban Decay Cherry Palette ($49 at Sephora and on the Urban Decay website).
Right off the bat I noticed that we finally have a palette with names for the shadows! There are 20 shadows in the Coastal Scents Revealed Rouge Palette (on sale for $5, regularly $20 on the Coastal Scents website). This is an almost spot on dupe for the Urban Decay one.
This palette has 9 shimmers and 11 mattes. There was no kick back on either the shimmers or the mattes and there was no fallout when placing the shadows on the eyes.
Revealed Rouge is pigmented and finally milled. The shadows blend together nicely with no muddling and they blend so quickly. There is a nice balance between transition shades and crease shades and with this palette you will be able to get several looks.
I give this palette and A+++! Ah yes they saved the best for last. It even has a medium and a deep brown in it!!! I am in love with this palette. I love how vibrant the berry colors are and I love how there are many shades in the brown family to be able to do a simple look or a smoky look. They knocked it out of the park with this palette. I would say it’s my favorite of the series, along with the matte palette.
Now on to the face of the day…..
Base: I used Stila Aqua Glow Perfecting Primer (discontinued).I filled in my pores with the NYX Pore Filler ($9.80 at Ulta). To conceal my under eyes I used NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($30 at Ulta and on the NARS website) in the color Medium 1 Custard. My foundation today is the Tarte Rain Forest of the Sea Foundation ($39 at Ulta, Sephora, and the Tarte website) in the color light sand. I set my face with the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta, Sephora, and the Laura Mercier website) in translucent. I bronzed my face with the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer Murumuru Butter Bronzer ($15.99 at Ulta) in the color Bronzer.
Eyes: I primed the eyes with the Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) in the color light medium honey. I used the Coastal Scents Revealed Rouge Palette (regularly $20 on sale for $5 on their website). I set the Shape tape with the color Caramelized (a grey based vanilla matte). For my first transition shade I chose Perfection (a light terra cotta peach matte) , followed by I’m Peachy (a medium peach matte) as my second transition color. I combined Amazing (a deep terra cotta matte) and Crave (an orange based berry matte) for my crease color. To deepen my outer 1/3 of the lid and the outer v I chose Night Rush (a medium deep chocolate brown matte) , which I also used on my lower lash line. On the middle 1/3 of my lid I used Rock It (a rose gold with an orange shift metallic) and on the inner 1/3 I used Fairy Dusk (a peachy pink metallic with a silver shift). I lined my brow bone with the BH Cosmetics Brow Highlighter ($5 on the BH website) on the matte side and then I set it with Peach Party (pale peach matte) from the palette. I highlighted my inner corners with Urban Decay single shadow ($20 at Ulta) in Midnight Cowboy. I did my brows with the ELF Ultra Precise Brow Pencil ($5 on their website) and the Wow Brow ($4 on their website) in the color dark brown. As always I used the Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara ($5.99 at Target). I lined my water line with NYX Faux Whites eyeliner ($8 at Ulta) in the color Linen.
Cheeks and Lips: I used NARS blush ($30 at Ulta, Sephora, and the NARS website) in the color Dolce Vita. To highlight my cheek bones, temples, brow bone, and cupid’s bow I used Jouer Powder Highlighter ($24 on their website) in the color Citrine. On my lips I am wearing NYX Slim Lip Pencil ($4 at Ulta) in the color Peekaboo Neutral and NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick ($7 at Ulta) in the color Soft-Spoken.
Final Thoughts….
Stila Aqua Glow Perfecting Primer is a sticky based primer. This is the first time I use it although I’ve had it for 2 years… I just opened it today. I am not sure about this one. It stays tacky which really gripped my foundation, but it emphasized my pores big time. I’ll have to try working with this one a bit more before I give my opinion on it, but so far it gets a C from me.
The NYX Pore Filler is my go to pore primer. It’s not the type of primer you can just run onto the skin, this one needs to be pushed into the skin or it pills up. I give it an A.
Tarte Rain Forest of the Sea Foundation comes in 30 shades , 8 shades for deeper skin. It’s billed as being a medium coverage with a radiant finish. It’s true. It is a medium coverage and leaves the skin looking healthy. It could use a few more shades in the deep range but it’s a great foundation. I would give it a solid A-. It gets the minus because it doesn’t have enough shades for our deeper skin beauties.
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer Murumuru Butter Bronzer gets comes in 8 shades. It smells amazing! It’s like having the beach on my face. It’s a satin bronzer that has a slight orange undertone. It’s pigmented so a light hand is needed or you’ll be spending sometime buffing it out. I give this bronzer an A+.
Tarte Shape Tape has 30 shades, 9 of which are for deeper complexions. This is a full coverage concealer. It’s a bit on the thicker side and it seems to be a drying concealer. A little goes a very long way. I find it to be a little to thick for my under eyes, so i use it always only for my eye shadow primer. I would give this concealer a B.
Coastal Scents Revealed Rouge Palette gets a definite A+++ from me. They really did a good job at this palette!! Out of all 6 of the palettes this is the palette I would recommend you purchase.
My brows gave me the hardest time today…. they don’t match and they are patchy. I blame the Stila Perfecting Primer…. that and the fact that I didn’t have coffee before doing my makeup today.
NYX Faux Whites eyeliner gets a definite A+ from me. It’s not water proof so you will have to reapply this product, but it’s the perfect shade of flesh for the water line (it’s not too bright and it’s not too flesh colored).
NARS blush comes in 28 colors and are a demi matte finish. Take it from me , these blushes are extremely pigmented. I spent 5 minutes buffing out my blush today and I went in with a light hand. I give these blushes an A+.
Jouer Powder Highlighters are smooth but pick up every imperfection on the surface area. It comes in 8 shades and is not glitter based (we all know how much I hate glitter). This is another product you should build up slowly. You can go from pretty sheen to disco ball in no time with this product. The product is very smooth. I give it a B.
NYX Slim Lip Pencil gets a strong D from me. It’s too hard of a product, you end up wasting a ton of product warming it on the back of your hand just to get the product to not skip and put down color. These are not my favorite, in fact there are many more in the same price range that work better.
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick comes in 24 shades. It’s got great coverage but does not dry down. There is some transfer with this lippie, but man does it go on smooth and nourishing. I really like this product. The shades are true to tube so it takes the guess work out of picking the shade that’s right for you. It’s not the longest lasting lip product but it’s not the type of lipstick that you will find yourself reapplying forever. It’s also not an overly sticky lip product either. I give this a solid A+++.
Well that’s all for now dolls. Thanks for sticking with me today.
Remember save a spoon for a bit of makeup.
XOXO
