Good morning dolls. How’s your day going? I’m doing good today.
Today I tried a new to me Benefit foundation. This is a full face of mostly Benefit products and short review….. Enjoy….
BASE: I primed my face with Benefit POREfessional Hydrating Primer ($13 for mini, $32 for full sized on their website). I color corrected my dark circles with Tarte CC Undereye Corrector ($25 at Ulta) in the color Light-Medium. I used Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer ($13 for mini and $22 for full sized on their website) in the color No. 5 Medium. I used Benefit Hello Happy Flawless Brightening Foundation ($15 for mini and $30 for the full sized on their website) in the color No.4 Medium. I set my under eyes with the ELF Undereye Setting Powder ($4 on their website) and then set the rest of my face with Benefit Hello Happy Velvet Powder Foundation ($30 on their website) in the color No.4 Medium. I bronzed my face with the Benefit Babe on Board Face Palette ($30 on the Beautylish website) in the color Hoola.
EYES: I primed my lids with Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) in the color Light-Medium Honey. For my eyes I used the ColourPop Eyeshadow Palette the I put together ($28 on their website). I set the Shape Tape with the color Hear Me Out (a light cream matte). As my 1st transition shade I chose Issues (a soft orange creamsicle matte). For my 2nd transition shade I chose to mix Bel Air (a dusty grey toned tan matte) and Wake Up Call (a dusty peach toned tan matte). My crease color is Criss Cross (a red toned burnt orange matte). I then deepened my outer v with the color Feathered (a reddish brown matte). As my drop shadow on my lower lash line I used Feathered close to the lash line and then blew it out with Criss Cross. I did my brows the same way I did them yesterday …. using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 on their website) and Benefit Gimme Brow Gel ($24 on their website) in the color 4.5 Neutral Deep Brown. I carved my brow line out with the BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side. I set the brow line with Hear Me Out from my palette. I used the Benefit Vanity Flare Nude Eyeshadow Palette ($34 on the Beautylish website) for my lids … for the inner 2/3 of my lid I used the color Pink Pearl (a pale pink shimmer). I did a wing eyeliner today using the Benefit Roller Liner ($12 for the mini and $22 for the full sized on their website) in black and then used Benefit Roller Lash Mascara ($25 on their website) in black.
CHEEK and LIPS: I used the Benefit Babe on Board Face Palette ($30 on the Beautylish website) for my blush and highlight… on the cheeks I used Rockabye (a mid-toned true coral satin) and I highlighted the tops of my cheeks, brow bone, and cupid’s bow with Dandelion Twinkle (a pale champagne). On my lips today I have ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip ($6 on their website) in the color Speed Dial (a brow toned deep peach) and lined with ColourPop Lippie Pencil ($6 on their website) in the color Oh Sis (a smokey paprika).
Final Thoughts….
Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer: B- When I reviewed this concealer yesterday I had tried it without color correcting to see what kind of coverage I would get. It didn’t do well at covering the under eye circles so I gave it a C. I tried it today with color corrector and it worked out better. It’s still too dry for my under eye but it doesn’t cake up and it doesn’t crease. It’s an OK concealer. I’ll use up the mini and if I do repurchase this it will also be the mini; it’s not one I think I want to own a full sized on.
Benefit Hello Happy Flawless Brightening Foundation: A+ This foundation is billed as a 12 hour wear that gives you a natural satin finish. You get 1 fluid ounce in the full sized bottle and .33 fluid ounces in the mini sized bottle. It comes in 12 shades, 5 of which are for deeper skin. The color I chose was No. 4 Medium and it’s billed as a neutral but it is a little too yellow based… I was able to make it work once I used the powder foundation on top of it. It’s a soft focus foundation that looks beautiful on the skin. It’s a medium coverage foundation that builds well, I did 2 coats and it did not go patchy or streaky. It does not emphasize pores or lines and buffs into the skin seamlessly. I will use the rest of my mini up and then I will purchase the full sized.
Benefit Hello Happy Velvet Powder Foundation: B+ I stand by my rating of this product from yesterday. It’s a nice powder foundation that gives a tad more coverage to your look. I still don’t think this works as a stand alone powder foundation, but it works really good as a finishing powder and touch up powder. It’s not too powdery or cakey. I wasn’t sure yesterday if I would repurchase this one, but I think I will… it’s a nice powder.
Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil and Benefit Gimme Brow Gel: A+++ I stand by my rating of this product from yesterday. This by far is my favorite find of the whole Benefit line. I am definitely repurchasing both the pencil and gel in bulk so I am never without it.
Benefit Roller Liner in Black: A- I don’t like this one as much as I like it in brown. It’s a bit more glossy, it’s not matte like it’s billed. It went on a little streaky and once it dried the look is a bit crunchy, not at all smooth like the brown liner. It’s still pretty good and was easy to use, however …. I made a mistake and when I went to clean it smeared the liner everywhere…. so I had to correct it quickly to avoid a big disaster. I still like it but I will not repurchase it in black … I will repurchase it in brown though.
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara: A+ I stand by everything I said in yesterday’s review of this product. It was a little bit drier today than it was yesterday but it still gives such length to the eyelashes. I will definitely use the one I have up, and I really liked it as a lower lash mascara so I will be repurchasing it to use it as such.
Benefit Babe on Board Face Palette: A+ I changed my mind about the highlighter in this palette. Yes it has some glitter but once you use a setting spray it melts into the skin so beautifully that I really love it. This here is the reason I don’t do first impressions…. my first impression was like “ugh glitter, yup I hate it.” and then today I am in love with it. I also tried it on wet and that went on so glowy that I will see myself reaching for this palette a ton over the next few months.
Yesterday in Final Thoughts I said that Benefit as a whole was a B++. The foundation I tried today makes me want to re-evaluate this …. I would give the company as a whole an A-. I still truly hate the eyeshadow palette I purchased, but I also hated the foundation and upon trying the Benefit Hello Happy Flawless Brightening Foundation I now really want to try another eyeshadow palette to see if I can get a better result.
Well that’s all for now dolls. Have an amazing day and as always save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.
XOXO
