Best of 2019: Favorites

Hey dolls … As promised my Best of 2019 Favorites…. So let’s get started….

20200102_135039
From left to right and top to bottom…..  Tarte CC Undereye Corrector, Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder, The Balm Even Steven Whipped Foundation, ColourPop No Filter Concealer, Channel Soleil Tan De Channel.

BASE PRODUCTS:  This past year I had many base products that I fell in love with…. but few that I came back to over and over …. and the winners are ….

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer ($54 for the full sized at Sephora). You get 1 fluid ounce of product. This was my go to primer a ton in 2019. It leaves the face feeling velvety smooth, it really grips the foundation and makes it last all day, and there is no flash back when taking pictures…. I truly loved this primer a ton… I just placed a purchase for a back up as I’m almost out.

Tarte CC Undereye Corrector ($25 at Ulta) You get .08 ounces of product. This has been my go to under eye corrector for the past 3 years. It’s the perfect shade of peach to correct the dark circles… it doesn’t over brighten the under eyes. It’s just the perfect corrector. It leaves the under eye area looking refreshed and hydrated. I hit pan on this one today and so I ordered a back up , however I also want to try the Eve Pearl Color Corrector too so I may out this one on the back burner just long enough to see if the Eve Pearl one is as good as everyone says it is.

ColourPop No Filter Concealer ($6.50 on their website) You get .176 fluid ounces of product. This is a great concealer. It’s the perfect color to match my skin tone. It’s not to thick, not to thin, and a little goes a long way. I use 1 full swipe of the wand to cover both eyes. It doesn’t crease and it sets down nicely without being over dry on the eye area. It’s one of the few concealers I own that I don’t have to set down with powder.

The Balm Even Steven Whipped Foundation ($22 on their website) You get .45 fluid ounces of product. This is by far the weirdest foundation I have ever tried. It has a soufflé-like texture that is so velvety. The smallest amount goes a long way. I just tap my finger into the jar and the little bit that comes out  covers my full face and neck. I have layered a second layer to see if it can build, you don’t need to do this because just one layer covers perfectly but I did it to just try it out, and it builds nicely as long as you buff lightly. It sets to a demi matte finish. I tested it out to see if it oxidizes and after 1/2 hour it had not. I reached for this product a ton this past year and I’ve only had it for about 2 months…. it still looks like the product is new since a few little dots is all you need. This one will definitely be in my rotation a ton this new year. When I first got it I was upset because the jar is so tiny, but after using it I understand why it’s so small…. I have barely made a dent in this jar.

Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta) You get 1 ounce in the full sized jar. This powder has been my favorite setting powder for the past 3 years. I have tried so many and I always come back to this one. It’s the perfect consistency. It’s finely milled and buffs into the fave so seamlessly. I never get flash back with this powder either. I have had this jar for 2 years now and I still have enough powder for several more months. This powder will always be in my collection. It’s just too darn good.

Channel Soleil Tan De Channel ($50 on their website) You get 1 ounce of product in the jar. I use this bronzer all the time, even on days where I don’t wear makeup, I still use it to warm up the face. I have barely made a dent in this jar and I have had it for 3 years now…. You can’t over do your bronze with this product. It’s a cream to powder formula that just blends into the skin so well, it honestly looks like tanned skin…. it’s perfection in a jar. Out of all the products in my favorites, this is my #1 pick… If I had to give up all my products and only keep one…. This would be it.

From left to right and top to bottom: ColourPop Going Coconuts Eyeshadow Palette, Haikari Cream Pigment, Tarte Shape Tape, Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara, BH Cosmetics Power Pencil, HB Studio Pro Brow Highlighter, Benefit Precisely My Brow and Gimme Brow, Benefit Roller Line Liquid Eye Liner.

EYE PRODUCTS:  2019 was the year of new eye products for me…. but the stand out best of the best for me was simple to chose….

Tarte Shape Tape ($25 at Ulta) You get .33 fluid ounces of product. A little, and I mean a little goes along way. I originally purchased this concealer to use under my eyes but, for me, it settled into every little line I have and just made my under eye look like the Sahara Desert so I have been using it as an eye shadow primer. With this as my primer my eye shadow lasts all day, even in the Florida heat. I have been using the same tube for a little over 2 years now and there is still heaps of product left. I also use to use this as a way to carve out my brow line too.

ColourPop Going Coconuts Eyeshadow Palette ($12 on their website)

excuse the arm hair, I need to wax them again. This palette is so amazing. It’s the perfect nude with attitude. I kept reaching for this palette for everyday and even on special occasions. The shadows are buttery and blend like a dream, the colors are so pigmented that you can really get a gorgeous smokey eye look with this little beauty. You can also get a really understated look with this palette if you go in with a light hand. Hands down this is my favorite palette of 2019.

Hikari Cream Pigment in the color Honey Dew

Hikari Cream Pigment ($15 on their website) has been my all time favorite inner corner highlight for years now.  It’s beautiful on the lids too but I love it as a highlight shade best, specifically the color Honey Dew. I’m not sure how much product you get in the jar as it’s not written on the jar and there is no mention of it on the website. It’s just so bright and glowy without any glitter at all…. definitely my favorite highlighter of the past 5 years.

Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 on their website) and Gimme Brow Gel ($24 on their website) have changed the game for me. I only just discovered these 2 products a few weeks ago but they have completely stolen my heart. They work so well on the brows. There’s no tugging or skipping or hairs being ripped out. It’s just the right formula for my brows. I’ve already ordered back ups so I wont be out of these products. Hands down my 2nd favorite find of the year.

BH Studio Pro Brow Highlight Pencil ($5 on their website) You get .12 ounces of product. I didn’t know what I was missing until I tried this product. It makes carving out the brow line so much easier than when I use to use the Shape Tape…. It’s a simple swipe and blend and you get the perfect brow line.

BH Power Pencil ($8 on their website) You get .04 ounces of product. I own a ton of flesh toned waterline pencils but ever since I purchased this one I can’t put it down. It’s the right formula… it’s water proof…. it’s creamy but not too creamy… it stays on the waterline so well. I purchased 2 more so that I always have it on hand.

20200102_140436.jpgBenefit Roller Liner ($22 on their website)…. You get .03 fluid ounces of product. I tried both the Brown and the Black this year, of the 2 the Brown one is my favorite, in fact it’s my favorite liquid eyeliner of the year. It’s easy to apply, doesn’t feather into the fine lines of my lids, doesn’t transfer to the lower waterline, doesn’t smear, and is water proof. It lasts all day without cracking or fading. I just really like this product.

Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara ($5.99 at Target)  You get .23 fluid ounces of product. This should not be a surprise to anyone, it’s been my favorite mascara for years and years. I stock up normally around black Friday so that I am never out of this product, like I was this year…. I just love this mascara so much, it’s super black, and really give you luscious lashes. The Primer that comes in this same rang is a good product too.

CHEEK and LIP PRODUCTS: For 2019 I have 2 products that were oldie but goodies and 2 that were newer and a huge surprise for me.

on top is the Highlighter on bottom is the blush

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush ($29 at Ulta) You get .2 ounces of product. This year I reached for this color a ton. Blissful is a bright rosey coral satin. It goes with every look I have tried this year, except for my Christmas look. It blends into the skin so well and is never patchy. It is just pigmented enough to give you a flush of color but also builds up in intensity very well. I say it all the time … the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush formula is my favorite formula of life.

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter ($4.49 at Ulta) You get .22 ounces of product. This is just the perfect highlighter… it can go on lightly for a fresh look and builds up perfectly for a high shine look. I used this so much this year that I had to repurchase it. This is just the best highlighter … it doesn’t go patchy, it doesn’t emphasize lines and pores, it has no glitter, it’s just perfection in a compact.

on the top ColourPop Lippe Sitx in Topanga and on the bottom Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk

ColourPop Lippie Stix ($6 on their website) You get .35 ounces of product. I have been enjoying testing out new products and ColourPop did not disappoint this past month. I found my favorite lip color of life!!! Topanga is the perfect Coral lipstick. I haven’t been able to stop wearing it. I might start off the day in a different lip color but I end up reaching for this one to touch up with… I just can’t stop wearing it. I ordered 2 back ups of Topanga just to make sure I don’t run out.

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat ($22 on the Beautylish website) You get 10 grams of product. I was hesitant to purchase this lip pencil, by far it is my most expensive lip pencil, but I am so glad I did. It’s the perfect nude for any lip color. I pair it with corals, pinks, beige lip colors, I am almost out of it and already have repurchased the color Pillow Talk.
