Smokey Face of the Day

Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great day. I woke up feeling OK today. Pain level is low, I’m not as stiff today, and I have a few extra spoons today. I had my rheumatoid arthritis appointment today and was told the medication is finally working.

I went a bit over board with the bronzer today…. It’s very pigmented and I couldn’t save the look so I just rolled with it. Well lets jump into the face of the day….

Base: I used the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Primer ($38 on their website) and to blur my pores I used Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta and Sephora). I used Tarte CC Undereye Corrector ($25 at Ulta) in Light-Medium. To conceal today I chose Too Faced Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealer ($28 at Ulta) in the color Light-Medium. For foundation I picked Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation ($6.49 at Ulta) in the color 366C Buff Bisque. To set my under eyes I chose RCMA No Color Translucent Setting Powder ($12 on the Beautylish website). I set the rest of my face with Loreal Infallible Pro-Matte 16-Hour Powder ($7.29 at Target) in the color 200 Natural Beige. To warm up the face I used NYX Matte Bronzer ($10 at Ulta) in the color Deep Tan ( I went over board with it… I forgot to use a light hand).I also used the RCMA No Color Translucent Setting Powder to clean up my bronze lines.

Eyes:  I primed the lids using MAC Paint Pot ($22 at Ulta and MAC) in Soft Ochre. I set my lids with the 1st shade of the 3rd row (a cream matte) of the BH Cosmetics Ultimate Mattes Palette ($28 on their website). For today’s look I used the BH Cosmetics Love in London 16 Color Eyeshadow Palette ($16 on their website). As my 1st transition shade I chose Cheers (a slightly peach toned tan matte), For my 2nd transition shade I chose Big Ben (a peach toned coral matte). For my crease I combined Crumpet (a grey based deep brown matte) and Lovely (a yellow based medium brown matte). I then deepened my outer v and outer 1/3 of my mobile lid with just Crumpet. I then took a light sweep of just Lovely on the remaining 2/3 of my lid. For the inner 1/3 of my lid I chose Cheeky (a true champagne with a silver reflect shimmer) I chose Biscuit (a copper gold shimmer) for the outer 1/3 of the lid and Prestige (a bronzey taupe with silver reflect shimmer) for the middle 1/3 to blend the lid together…. I then went back into Crumpet and deepened the outer 1/3 of the lid just a bit more. On the lower lash line I used Crumpet and blew out the drop shadow with a combination of  Lovely and Ben Ben.I used Hikari Cream Pigment ($15 on their website) in the color Honey Dew for my inner corner highlight and lined my waterlines with BH Cosmetics Power Pencil ($8 on their website) in the color Beige. I Lined my upper lash line with BH Cosmetics Power Pencil ($8 on their website) in the color Black. For my brows today I used ColourPop Brow Boss Pencil ($5.50 on their website) and Brow Boss Gel ($6.50 on their website) in the color Dark Brown. I carved out the brow line with BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and set the brow line using the 1st shade of the 1st row (a pale cream white matte) of the BH Ultimate Mattes Palette. My mascara today is Benefit Roller Lash ($25 on their website) in Black.

20200106_124539 Cheeks and Lips: My blush today is ColourPop Super Shock Cheek ($8 on their website) in the color Birthday Suit (a pinky coral satin). I highlighted my brow bones, between my eyebrows, nose, tops of the cheeks, and Cupid’s Bow using Milani Strobelight Instant Glow Powder  ($9.99 at Ulta) in the color 01 AfterGlow (a pale pinky cream with silver reflect). I lined my lips using ELF Lip Liner and Blending Brush ($3 ) in the color Nude Pink. I filled in my lips using Tarte Sea Color Splash Lipstick () in the color Beach Babe (a pale nude peach cream).

Final Thoughts:

Too Faced Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealer: A++                                                  You get .23 ounces of product. It comes in 16 shades with 5 shades for deeper skin. I forgot how much I love this concealer. It was in the bottom of my concealer draw so I hadn’t used it in over a year. It is so creamy and radiant. It needs to be set or it will slide around on you, but even with setting it the radiance comes through. I can’t believe I forgot about this concealer!!! It’s so good. It doesn’t crease or cake up. I remember I use to use this one of no makeup and minimum makeup days  and would just lightly pounce powder over the top to set it and it always looked amazing. I am so going to repurchase this concealer when I hit pan.

Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation: B                                                                                         You get 1 ounce of product. It comes in 20 shades, 7 shades for deep skin. It’s an OK foundation. It didn’t blow me away. It sits well on the face and does need to be set with powder. First of all I truly hate the applicator, it’s this weird flat paddle wand and you have to be fast to get it on your face or a glop of the foundation will slide off the paddle onto your lap. I’ve used this foundation a handful of times and it really didn’t wow me, but it’s a good basic day foundation. I’ll use it up but I wont repurchase it.

RCMA No Color Translucent Setting Powder: A                                                                         You got 3 ounces of product. I love this powder but I HATE the bottle it comes in. I normally transfer it to an empty Laura Mercier Loose Powder jar. This powder if perfect for everything… to set you eye primer, to set your concealer, as a finishing powder… and of course to bake your undereyes and bronze lines. A little of this powder goes a very long way, I have had the same jar for 2 1/2 years and have barely made a dent in it.

BH Cosmetics Power Pencil in the color Black: A+++ I love this pencil in black! It’s creamy, it’s very black, and never skips on my lids. It doesn’t transfer to the waterline, it doesn’t smear, it doesn’t fade. I can’t believe this is a drug store eyeliner !!!! If you are looking for a really great liner this is the one for you.

ColourPop Brow Boss Pencil: D-  I keep trying to make this pencil work… really I do… I just can’t do it anymore. I am decluttering this pencil from my collection straight away. The color is perfect but this pencil pulls at my hairs, it goes patchy the second you try to brush it through, it smudges like crazy… it’s just a really bad eyebrow pencil… I gave it a D- because it has a great selection of colors and does look half way decent once you build it up for like feels like an hour, but I just don’t have the will to deal with how fiddly this pencil is.

Milani AfterGlow: B++                                                                                                                     You get .30 ounces of product. It comes in 7 shades. Once again GLITTER… however this highlighter is so pretty once you use setting spray. You only need the tiniest amount of product on your brush. It lasts all day with out fading (except for on the Cupid’s Bow…. I have noticed that I do need to reapply it around the 3 to 4 hour mark). The glitter in this highlighter is a fine milled glitter so it’s not as gross as some of the other highlighters out there. I like it… I’ll definitely use this one up …. not sure if I’ll ever repurchase it though.

ELF Lip Liner and Blending Brush: F                                                                                           I’m not sure how many ounces it has, the website doesn’t say and neither does the packaging. It comes in 4 shades. The best part of this lip liner is the attached lip brush… the product is crap. It’s dry, pulls at the lip, skips, and the way it is shaded you can’t get a good defined lip line. The product is patchy when you try to fill your lips in with it… this one is a hard pass for me… this is the first time I used it and I already decluttered it. It’s just an epic fail.

Well dolls… that’s all for now… hope your day is good. Remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
