Full Face Physicians Formula Review

Hiya dolls! Today I would like to review a full face of Physicians Formula products. I purchased all the products I used today from the Physicians Formula website. So lets get started.

BASE PRODUCTS:

Softlight Blurring Primer ($14.95 for 1 fluid ounce): B+                                                         This primer is billed as a universally flattering soft-focused primer that smooths, absorbs, and protects to deliver an ultra-smooth airbrushed finished. Optical Blurring Agents and oil-absorbing Kaolin helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores to deliver an ultra-smooth, airbrushed finish. There is nothing special about this primer. It did nothing that it claims to do. There was no blurring and no airbrushed finish. It did not blur my pores or fine lines in fact it almost seemed to emphasize both. It’s a tacky primer that almost seemed to just sit on top of the face. I don’t see myself reaching for this primer again, I was not impressed.

The Healthy Foundation ($15.99 for 1 fluid ounce): B++                                                       This foundation is one of those that has the huge doe-foot applicator. It comes in 23 shades with 12 shades for deeper skin tones. It’s billed as a  long-wearing, buildable, and breathable foundation that provides lightweight, medium coverage with a healthy, satin finish. This is a medium coverage foundation that builds up beautifully. Over the primer I used it was a little difficult to blend in well around the chin area it kept bunching up and clinging to my pores. It is a satin finished foundation that is pretty and the shade I chose is a spot on match for me. I tested it for 7 minutes to see if it would oxidize and it did not. It remains tacky so you will need to set it with face powder. I’ll reach for this foundation again but I don’t know if I will repurchase it, I will have to test it with other primers to see if it still bunches up around my chin.

Conceal RX Concealer ($10.49 for .49 fluid ounces): A-                                                                 This concealer comes in 3 shades, none for deeper skin tones. It’s billed as having maximum coverage concealer formula that glides on smoothly to conceal blemishes, scars, birthmarks, age spots, rosacea and hyper pigmentation with a concentrated formula lasts up to 12 hours! This concealer is super thick. In the picture above I squeezed out smaller than a pea sized dot of product. It covered my dark circles perfectly and a very little went a very long way. I left it without setting it for 5 minutes to see if it would crease and it did but very little creasing took place. This is a pretty good concealer that I will enjoy using up.

Natural Defense Setting the Tone Finishing Powder ($14.99 for .35 ounces): A-              This powder is offered in 4 shades, 1 for deeper skin tones. I chose medium, which is normally my shade, and it was really dark on me… I can actually use it as a bronzer, which is how I will be using it up. It’s billed as a  lightweight, breathable, translucent finishing powder that blurs, protects, and perfects and minimizes the appearance of pores, fine lines and imperfections. This is a finely milled lightweight powder that gives a subtle burring effect… however it did emphasize the texture on my chin from where the foundation bunched up on me. It gives a nice finish to the skin and I am wanting to pick it up in the shade bellow medium to use as a finishing powder, I just can’t use the one I purchased that way because it’s too bronzer like.

EYE PRODUCTS:

Murumuru Butter Eyeshadow Palette ($17.99 for .55 ounces total): A+                              This palette is offered in 2 color ways. It’s billed as an incredibly soft and ultra-creamy texture that can be applied wet or dry. I love this palette!!! The shadows are finely milled and like their claims state ultra-creamy!!! They aren’t overly pigmented but they build up nicely. The shadows blend into each other nicely as well. There is a ton of kickback in the pans but I did not notice any fallout. This palette is scented like the butter bronzer (coconut sunscreen is what it reminds me of). I’m glad I purchased this palette and just know that I will reach for it a ton this year.

Eye Booster Lash Contortionist Mascara ($11.49 for .31 fluid ounces): A-                          This mascara is billed as having outrageous eye-opening results with lash fibers that deliver an easy, fast lash transformation. I didn’t notice if there were any fibers in this mascara but it did lengthen my lashes pretty well. I used 2 coats for my lashes today and they seem longer without being clumpy or crunchy. The brush applicator is designed in a spiral. I think I really like this mascara for more natural days, it gives great length but doesn’t give a full feathered look to the lashes. I’d buy it again if I didn’t have so many mascaras at the time, however I may purchase a back up just in case they discontinue it.

Brow Last Longwearing Brow Gel ($11.49 for .27 fluid ounces): F This brow gel is billed as being a long wearing, water-resistant, transfer-proof, smudge-proof, budge-proof brow transformer. It’s offered in 3 shades. First off the tone of this product is completely off. It’s a muddy grayish reddish tint. Second off this gel comes with a brush applicator that is totally useless. There is so much product on the brush that there is no way on Earth you can get a good brow application with it. I tried to use a separate brow brush to apply the product and it just ended up being splotchy in some areas and gloppy in others. If you can see the picture above even with my brow brush I couldn’t get clean lines of a completely cohesive application. I wonder how this even made it past Physicians Formula’s Quality Control Department…. It’s just a total waste of money.

CHEEK and LIP PRODUCTS:

Murumuru Butter Blush ($13.49 for .26 ounces): B+                                                               This product is offered in 6 shades and is billed as being incredibly creamy and a soft texture that combines the best features of a powder and cream blush, to deliver a lit-from-within tropical glow unlike any other. I think this blush was meant to be a satin finish, however there is way too much fine glitter in this blush to pull a satin finish off. It’s more of a blush topper than an actual satin blush. The color is beautiful and the formula is smooth and creamy but it just look so glittery on the cheeks. When I applied this it looked like I had already applied highlighter it was that glittery. By mid day all the color was gone and all that was left was a gold sheen from the glitter. Like the other Murumuru Butter products in this line, it has that coconut sunscreen scent to it. This is a pass for me and I wont be using up the one I have. It’s good for those who don’t wear highlighter but still want to have that highlighter glow, it’s just a pass for me.

Murumuru Butter Highlighter ($11.49 for .17 ounces): C-                                                      This is offered in 6 shades and is billed as a long-wearing, finely-pressed, cream-to-powder formula has a unique bouncy texture that melts into skin for the creamiest, most gorgeous highlighted finish. This formula when you swatch it feels wet to the touch and glides well. It swatches beautifully, however upon application there is so much glitter to it. I love the shade and the Coconut Sunscreen scent but the glitter drives me nuts. It’s so inundated with glitter that even after using setting spray that glittery finish is there… it doesn’t even melt into the skin. I wont be repurchasing this highlighter and I will be using the 1 I purchased as an eyeshadow …. I wont be using this as a highlighter ever.

The Healthy Lip Velvet Liquid Lipstick ($8.49 for .24 fluid ounces): A+++!!!                               This lipstick is offered in 13 shades. It’s billed as a long-wearing, decadent mousse-like textured lipstick that delivers high-impact color that glides on for seamless one-stroke color payoff. This lipstick is so good!!! It dries down to a semi-matte finish. It smells a little chemically but once it’s dried that scent goes away. The tear drop doe-foot applicator makes it easy to line the lips with. 1 swipe is all that is needed to completely cover the lips. It’s comfortable and pretty long wearing. It fades down evenly as well. I purchased 2 shades and have plans to pick up more shades in this line.

Murumuru Butter Lip Cream ($8.49 for .12 ounces): A+++!!!                                                This product is offered in 12 shades and is billed as a buttery lip color providing the ultimate creamy cushion texture to nurture and protect lips. This feels like a lip balm. It’s got a nice slip to it and doesn’t transfer off the lip line. It’s got pretty descent color coverage to it too. It smells sort of like the Loreal lipsticks do and I noticed it has a sweet taste to it… not that I go around eating lip products, I just happened to lick my lips and tasted that it was sweet. This lip product is so nice that I am thinking of picking up the reaming 11 shades.

Well that’s all for now dolls. Stay tuned tomorrow when I review a full face of Shop Miss A makeup. Until then remember to save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
