Berry Smokey Eye Face of the Day Featuring ColourPop Bare Necessities

Hey doll hey. Hope you are having a great day today. I’m off to a late start today. It’s our 18th wedding anniversary today and we slept in. Today I used the ColourPop Bare Necessities Eyeshadow Palette ($34 on their website). As much as I love ColourPop I gotta say I was underwhelmed with this palette. Well maybe not underwhelmed more like uninspired…. I don’t know if that’s because I have so many neutral palettes or if it’s because I had such a hard time with this look today at any rate, I am not loving this look today as much as I normally do when I use a ColourPop palette….. Well let’s get on to the Face of the Day….

Base: I primed my face using the Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer ($45 at Sephora). My foundation today is Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Radiance Foundation ($12 on their website) in the color F5.7. I color corrected using Tarte CC Undereye Corrector ($25 at Ulta) in the color Light-Medium and followed that up using Flower Light Illusion Full Coverage Concealer ($10 on their website) in the color L3-4 Light. I set my face using Flower Light Illusion Perfecting Powder ($13 on their website) in the color L4-M1 Beige. I warmed up my face using Revolution Bronzer Reloaded ($6 on their website) in the color Take A Vacation.

Eyes: I primed my eye lids using Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) in the color Light-Medium Honey. For today’s eye look I am using ColourPop Bare Necessities Eye Shadow Palette ($34 on their website). I used the color In the Buff (pale beige matte) to set the Shape Tape. As my 1st transition shade I used (a dusty pale mauve matte). For my crease, outer v, and outer 1/2 of my mobile lid I used the color Act a Fool (a dusty mid-toned mauve matte). For my mobile lid I used Revel (a deep reddish brown shimmer) on the outer 1/3. For the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid I chose Spree (a rosey pink matte with gold glitter). I then took Designer Duds (a rose gold metallic) and layered that over Revel and a little bit into the inner 1/3 of the mobile lid. I then took the color Silk Teddy (a champagne nude metallic) to the remain part of the inner 1/3 of the mobile lid. I then used more of Revel and Act a Fool for my lower lash line. I highlighted the inner corners using the color Idol Hour (a peachy ivory metallic). I lined my upper lash line with ColourPop BFF Creme Gel Liner ($6 on their website) in the color Joy Ride (a deepened burgundy). I lined my waterlines using Loreal Infallible Longwear Eye Pencil ($8.99 at Ulta) in the color Nude. I did my eyebrows today using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta) and Gimme Brow ($24 at Ulta) in the color 4.5. I carved out my brow line using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and set it using the color Full Exposure (an creamy ivory matte). For mascara today I used Milani Dangerous Lengths ($9.99 at Ulta) in the color Black.

Cheeks and Lips: My blush today is from the Benefit Babe on Board Face Palette ($30 on the Beautylish website) I used the color Rockabye (a dusty rosey nude satin). I used the same palette to highlight the tops of my cheek bones, center of my forehead, bridge of my nose, and my Cupid’s Bow using the color  Dandelion Twinkle (a pinky champagne). I lined my lips using NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta and on their website) in the color Cannes (a mid-toned rosey nude) and filled in my lips using Too Faced  La Creme Color Drenched Lipstick ($22 on Amazon – color discontinued) in the color  Sugar Fairy (a warm peach nude).

Final Thoughts:

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer: A+++                                                             You get 1 fluid ounce in the tube. It’s billed as a two-in-one pore refiner and makeup primer that helps diminish the look of pores and imperfections, mattifies the skin, and creates a smooth canvas. I keep having a love hate relationship with this primer. I really love the way it blurs my skin, but I really hate the way it smells. I has a sunscreen scent to it (even though there is no sunscreen in it). This primer works so well that I deal with the scent… but the scent doesn’t linger which is good. This primer really truly blurs pores and fine lines and leaves the skin feeling velvety smooth. When I use up this primer I have plans to repurchase it.

Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Radiance Foundation: A+++!!!! You get .7 fluid ounces of product in this glass pumped bottle. I’ve already done a comprehensive review of this product which can be read here -> Revolution Full Face Review  , but I just have to say how much I love my skin with this foundation on!! It’s billed as a foundation that is infused with hyaluronic acid to hydrate the complexion, provide a plumping effect and create a smoother, satin glow finish to the skin. It truly hydrates the skin. This foundation will always be part of my makeup collection.

Flower Light Illusion Perfecting Powder: A+++!!!                                                                     You get .28 ounces of product in this compact. I’ve done a review of this product and you can see that here -> Flower Full Face Review . I just love this powder so much. It’s blurring, and smooth, and just looks so beautiful. I would definitely repurchase this product.

Flower Light Illusion Full Coverage Concealer: A++                                                                 You get .22 fluid ounces of product in this doe-foot applicator tube. It comes in 6 shades with 2 for deeper skin tones. This concealer is billed as a weightless concealer that provides dark circle diffusing illumination with their exclusive blurring pigments. A high coverage concealer that imparts a subtle radiance as it conceals discolorations. The formula instantly diminishes the appearance of imperfections, fine lines, and signs of fatigue for a flawless luminous look. This concealer is so beautiful!!! It leaves the under eyes looking healthy and hydrated and glowy. I could see myself repurchasing this concealer again.

ColourPop Bare Necessities Eye Shadow Palette: B+                                                                     I don’t know if I am just having a bad makeup day or if this palette is just not as good as the other palettes I have tried from ColourPop, but I had such a hard time getting a good eye look with it today. The colors went on nicely and pigmented and blended out well but when buffing the colors into one another they just went muddy. There was a crap ton of kickback in the pans, and I mean a crap ton … I had powder everywhere because of it and there was plenty of fallout all over my under eyes too. I also didn’t feel as inspired to use this palette as I have with other neutral palettes that ColourPop has come out with. It’s just a basic neutral palette with no real inspiration. I’ll try it again sometime next week and see if I get better results because there are a few shades that swatch beautifully.

ColourPop BFF Creme Gel Liner: A++                                                                                          You get .007 ounces of product in this self sharpening pencil. It comes in 24 colors. This is a pretty good eyeliner. The creme gel is a bit soft and so i broke the tip while I was lining my lash line, but I quickly learned how much pressure to apply. This pencil did not skip or tug at my eyes and had great pigmentation. I liked it enough that I ordered the warm nude color called Honeydude.

Milani Dangerous Lengths: A++                                                                                                    You get .27 fluid ounces of product in this tube. This is a nice mascara. It leaves my lashes looking like falsies. I truly enjoy the way my lashes look when I am wearing this mascara and would definitely repurchase this one.

Benefit Babe on Board Face Palette: A+                                                                                       You get .27 ounces of product total in this palette. I truly enjoy using all 3 products of this palette, although the Hula bronzer in this palette is a different formula than the single Hula bronzer is. The blush is the perfect just pinched pink and the highlighter is just beautiful, there is no glitter in it and it just melts seamlessly into the skin. This was a happy find of 2019 for me.

Too Faced  La Creme Color Drenched Lipstick: C-                                                                      I’m not sure how much product you get in this bullet. I don’t know how I feel about this lipstick. It’s got too much slip to it, and it goes on patchy. Because of how much slip it has it travels outside the lip line and bunches up on the corners of the lip… well I guess I know I don’t like it but I love the color. This formula is just hard to work with and I can see why they discontinued it.

Well that’s all for now dolls. Hope you have a great rest of your day. Thanks for stopping by…. Remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.
