Revisiting Older Makeup Face of the Day

Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great day/night. It’s raining here in Florida today so I am in considerable pain. It’s doesn’t help that it’s cold too. I am continuing the pursuit to curate my makeup collection so I have 4 more products I revisited today to see if I will declutter or keep them.  Today I test out the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette ($54 at Sephora), The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($30 at Ulta, Sephora, and on their website), and Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation ($39 at Sephora and on their website), and Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette ($48 at Sephora). Unlike yesterday I actually had a really good makeup day. Everything applied well and there where no hick-ups. Like yesterday I will explain my feeling about and whether or not I will be keeping each product in Final Thoughts… So let’s jump into the Face of the Day ….

Base: I primed my face using the Flower Beauty In Your Prime Pore-Minimizing Primer ($10.99 at Ulta). My foundation is Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation ($39 at Sephora and their website) in the shade Light Sand. I had very dark circles today so I used the Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 at Target and on their website) in the shade Brightening Peach and then concealed my under eyes using NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($30 at Ulta, Sephora, and their website) in the shade Medium 1 Custard. I set my face using Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. I warmed up my face using Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette ($48 at Sephora) and I went in with the shade Shadowplay (the middle bronzer shade). I set my under eyes and baked my jaw line, bridge of the nose, and center of my forehead using the RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website).

Eyes: I primed my lids using Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) in the shade Light-Medium Honey and set it with more of the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder. For my transition shade I used the color Tease (a grey toned medium brown matte). I used the shade Verve (an icy taupe shimmer) all over the mobile lid and then I used the color Snakebite (a chocolate brown with bronze reflect shimmer) on the outer 1/2 of my mobile lid. I then warmed up the crease using the shade Subconscious (the 3rd shade of the bronzers from the Kat Von D Palette) and I also took that same shade onto the outer 1/3 of my mobile lid. I then took the shade YDK (a rosey taupe shimmer) and placed that on the middle 1/3 to blend the outer and inner colors. I then took more of Tease to the bottom lash line and used more of Subconscious to deepen the lower lash line further. I did my brows using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta) in the shade 4.5 and set the brows using Benefit Gimme Brow Gel ($24 at Ulta) in the shade 6. I carved out my brow bone using the BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the shimmer side and then set that with the Wet n Wild Color Icon Single Shadow ($.99 at Walgreens) in the shade Sugar (an icy white shimmer). I highlighted the inner corners of my eyes with the shade Bootycall (a vanilla satin). I lined my waterlines using Loreal Infallible Longwear Pencil ($8.99 at Ulta) in the shade Nude. For mascara today I am using ColourPop BFF Volumizing Mascara ($8 on their website) in the shade Black on Black.

Cheeks and Lips: My blush today is the Physicians Formula Butter Blush ($12.49 on their website) in the shade Beachy Peach (a peachy coral satin). I highlighted the tops of my cheeks, Cupid’s Bow, bridge of the nose, and center of the forehead using J Cat Beauty You Glow Girl Baked Highlighter ($8.99 at Ulta and on their website) in the shade Twilight (a golden champagne). I lined my lips using NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta and NYX also available on the NYX website) in the shade Whipped Caviar (a mauve matte) and then I tapped a little bit of Jouer High Pigment Lip Gloss ($17 on their website) in the shade Sloane (a neutral coral) onto the center of my lips and blended it out with my finger to sheer it out a little. I then used the Physicians Formula Natural Defense Setting the Tone Finishing Powder ($14.99 on their website) in the shade Light to just blend everything together.

Final Thoughts: Before I discuses what I will keep or get rid of I wanted to touch base of a few things …. I declutter the Physicians Formula Natural Defense Setting the Tone Finishing Powder in medium. I had tried it as a bronzer and it just didn’t work out for me so instead of keeping a powder that was too dark for me, I decluttered now that I have the powder in Light. This is not the first time I tried the Jouer High Pigment Lip Gloss… but every time I use it I fall in love with it more. I was having a hard time with this testing today. I really loved everything I tried. All the makeup went on smoothly and blended out seamlessly, But I also have to be a bit cut throat because my makeup collection is growing way too fast for me to get extra storage for…. so here is the break down of the 4 products I wanted to test today….

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette: B+                                                                                                  Out of the 3 original Naked palettes this is my favorite one, however when I picked up this palette today I just wasn’t wowed. Again, just like yesterday, I have other neutral palettes that are more cohesive and have more middle and deep shades to choose from. This palette just does not have a good selection of transition and crease shades and the shimmers just do not have the high impact that you find with newer palettes. If I still worked I probably would have kept this one so a work appropriate smokey eye look, but I don’t and I have other palettes that wow more much more than this one every did. As much as I use to love this one I just can’t keep it just because it use to be my favorite and so I will be decluttering this palette. I will be passing it along to someone I think will get use out of it.

The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer: A+                                                                                        I purchased this concealer back when I was a bit deeper in skin tone. It still works for me, it just doesn’t brighten my under eyes anymore, it’s in the shade Custard. I really love this concealer so much. It’s light weight and doesn’t completely cover my dark circles, but I can use a corrector so that’s no big deal. I am going to keep this one and use it up and then when I repurchase it I will purchase the shade Madeleine instead.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation: A+                                                                         I was going to declutter this one because I thought that it was discontinued, however it’s not the bottle was just changed. I don’t reach for this one often but I really love it. It looks pretty on the face and has an OK staying power. It lasts longer in the Fall and Winter, but I don’t mind using it in the Spring and Summer. I will keep this one and finish it off. Now whether or not I repurchase may be determined by how many foundations I have and whether or not I find anything similar to this one.

Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette: A++                                                                                I know there is tons of controversy surrounding Kat Von D and I have decided not to support her any further…. now her she sold her shares of the company so the company is no longer associated with her so I may purchase stuff from the line in the future, that is if something comes out that wows me…. in the meantime I am using up the products I own currently. This Contour palette is phenomenal!!! There is very little kickback in the pans, the shades buff into the skin wonderfully, and the undertones are spot on. I love all the shades in this palette. I use them as eyeshadow as well. The lighter shades I use to brighten my under eyes and as setting powder for my lid primers. I am definitely keeping this palette.

Well that’s all for now dolls. Stay tuned tomorrow when I review the It’s My Pleasure and the Lilac You A Lot palettes from ColourPop. I will also choose a few more older products to test out to see what I will keep and what I will declutter…. In the meantime I hope you have a good rest of your day/night…. that you are as pain free as possible…. and that they day/night finds you with plenty of spoons…. and don’t forget to save a spoon for a bit of lipstick!!!

XOXO
