Blue Smokey Eye Face of the Day

Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great day/night. I’m having an OK day today. Woke up early for a change and have some energy though it feels like the energy is dwindling rapidly today…. I may need to nap today. Today I continue my journey to curate my makeup collection by testing out 7 more older products in my collection…. Clinique High Impact Mascara ($19.50 on their website and at Ulta), Marc Jacob Invisible Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer ($45 at Sephora), Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($45 at Sephora), Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (discontinued), Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup (on sale for $20 on their website), MAC Mineralize Skin Finish ($36 at MAC), and Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette (Discontinued). I will reveal what I am keeping and what I am decluttering of these 7 items in Final Thoughts…. for now, let’s jump into the Face of the Day….

Base: I primed my face using the Marc Jacob Invisible Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer ($45 at Sephora) and then went in with the Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($45 at Sephora) in the shade Dew You? all over the face to add extra glow to the skin. I color corrected using Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 at Target) in the shade Brightening Peach. For foundation I am wearing Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup (on sale for $20 on their website) in the shade 4.0 and then I concealed my under eyes using Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (discontinued) in the shade medium-Light. I set my face using Revolution Pro Powder Foundation ($7 on their website) in the shade F5. I warmed up the face using Revolution Bronzer Reloaded ($7 on their website) in the shade Take a Vacation. I set my under eyes and baked the jaw line, center of the forehead, and bridge of my nose using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website).

Eyes: I primed the lids using Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) in the shade Light-Medium Honey and set that using some Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Sephora) in the shade Translucent. For today’s eye look I used the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette (discontinued). For my transition shade I tried to use the color Nogut  (a very light dusty mauve matte) but it didn’t show up deep enough for me so I covered it up using the shade Peanut Butter (an orange based tan matte). I deepened my crease and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid using the shade Truffled (a deep chocolate brown matte). I then created a cut crease using some more Shape Tape. I used a combination the shades Frosting (a mid-toned brown with a taupe flip) and Cocoa Chili (a deep brown with golden flecks sequin) on the outer 1/2 of the mobile lid. On the inner 1/2 of the mobile lid I used the shade Blueberry Swirl (a navy with lighter blue reflect metallic). I then took the shade Bon Bon (a peach with a golden flip metallic) into the middle 1/3 to blend the outer and inner 1/2 of the mobile lid together. I then took the shade Pink Sugar (a pale pink glitter topper) and patted that over the shade Blueberry Swirl. I took the shade Puddin’ (a dusty deep brown matte) and deepened the outer v. For my lower lash line I created a drop shadow using more of the shade Peanut Butter and then deepened very close to the lower lash line using more of the shade Truffled. I used the shade Butter Pecan (a pale peach metallic) to highlight the inner corners. In my waterlines I used Revolution Pro Supreme Pigment Gel Eye Liner ($5 on their website) in the shade Nude. I then set my brow hair using Pixi by Petra Brow Gel ($9.99 at Target) in clear and filled in my brows using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta) in the shade 4.5 and carved out my brow line using the BH Studio Pro Brow Highlight ($5 on their website) on the matte side and set that using the shade Coconut Creme (a flat vanilla matte). For mascara I used Clinique High Impact Mascara ($19.50 on their website and at Ulta) in the shade Black.

Cheeks and Lips: On my cheeks today I used the Rimmel London Kate Sculpting Kit ($5.99 at Target) in the shade 002 Coral Glow (the blush is a coral satin). I started to highlight my face using the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish ($36 at MAC) in the shade Warm Rose but it just didn’t give me any real highlight so I ended up popping back into the Kate Sculpting Kit again and used the Highlight shade (a dust champagne) to highlight the tops of my cheeks, bridge of my nose, Cupid’s Bow, and center of my forehead. I lined my lips using the Flower Beauty Petal Pout Lip Liner ($6 on their website $4.50 at Walmart) in the shade Rose (a soft rosey pink) and then filled in mi lips using the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips ($34 on the Beautylish website and the Charlotte Tilbury website) in the shade Pin-Up Pink (a coral pink matte liquid lipstick).

Final Thoughts:

Clinique High Impact Mascara:                                                                                                      It’s an OK Mascara. It’s better for the bottom lashes than the top lashes. It doesn’t give much volume or length. I have tons of mascaras that do a better job so I have chosen to declutter this one from my collection.

Marc Jacob Invisible Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer:                                        This primer is very hydrating but does nothing to blur the texture to the face. It’s a nice primer and I don’t have very much of it left, so I think I’m going to use up what I have left but I will not be repurchasing it.

Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter:                                                                   This is a liquid highlighter. I use it as a primer base. I like how glowy it makes me look but I don’t like how greasy it feels. I have a lot of this product left and since I do like the look it gives me I will be keeping it in my collection. Once I have used it up though, I will not be repurchasing it.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer:                                  This concealer is so lift weight. It does a decent job of covering my under eyes and never creases on me. This is a discontinued product so part of my wants to declutter it from my collection since I wont be able to repurchase it but part of my also wants to keep it and use up the product I have left…. I will keep this one around for this month, but if I haven’t finished it by the end of February than I will declutter it.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup:                                       I truly believe this one is being fazed out. You can only find it on their website and on Amazon. Not all of the shades are available either. It’s a shame, I really do love this foundation. I love how light it feels and the finish on the skin. It’s a bit dark for me now, but I can make it work. I have a ton of it left so I think what I will do, since I have all 4 of the Naked foundations is… I will declutter the Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation since I feel like that one isn’t as good as the other 3 that I have and then I will try and use this one up by the end of April. If I haven’t used it up by April I will declutter it from my collection.

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish… specifically in the shade Warm Rose:                                   This highlighter is just a waste of time for me. There’s no shine to it, it’s just a bright powdery messy. I have even tried it as an all over finishing powder and that didn’t seem to work either…. I have decluttered this from my collection.

Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette:                                                                            This palette has been discontinued. Out of all the Too Faced palettes I own, this one is my all time favorite palette. I have loved every look I come up with using it and I love all the shades minus Pink Sugar (mainly because it’s just a glitter topper and I don’t use those often). There is almost zero kick back in the pans and there is ZERO fall out on the face, even with the metallics. The shades are pigmented and buttery smooth and blend out well and also buff into each other without going muddy. I am keeping this palette in my collection.

*Bonus Item* I also declutter the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette ($54 at Ulta):                         I have tried using this one a few time this past month and I just didn’t like the looks I created with it, I never really reach for it because I almost always have to reach for another palette to get a complete look. The shadows are powdery and the shimmers are under whelming. So I have decided to delclutter this palette.

So there you have it… I decluttered 2 of the 7 older products with the potential to declutter 2 more by April. Well I hope you have a great rest of your day/night and that the day finds you in good spirits. Remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
