Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m having an OK day. I’m in a ton of pain and have very low energy today, but I got up…showered…and did my makeup before having to rest today. Today I have 5 more products to test out to see if they will remain part of my makeup collection or not. Those items are… CoverGirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation, Loreal True Match Lumi Glow Nude Highlighter Palette, The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude Palette, Makeup Geek Fair Skin Bronzer, and ELF Sheer Tint Finishing Powder. As per the norm I will discuss these items in Final Thoughts. So let’s jump into the Face of the Day ….
Base: I primed my face using Marc Jacobs Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer ($45 at Sephora). I color corrected using Tarte CC Undereye Corrector ($25 on the Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Light-Medium. My foundation today is CoverGirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation (discontinued but still available at Walmart for $10.99) in the shade 740 Natural Beige. To conceal my under eyes I used Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer ($22 at Ulta) in the shade No. 5. I set the face using ELF Sheer Tint Finishing Powder ($6 on their website) in the shade Light-Medium. The foundation and powder combo made my skin look so dark that I ended up baking most of my face …. I set my under eyes, baked my jaw line, tops of the cheeks, bridge of the nose, and center of the forehead using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website). After I dusted off the bake I lightly bronzed the perimeter of my face and nose using Makeup Geek Fair Skin Bronzer (discontinued do to the rebranding) in the shade Sunkissed.
Eyes: I primed my lids using NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($30 at Sephora) in the shade Medium 1 Custard and set that using Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Sephora) in the shade Translucent. I used The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude Palette ($42 still available at Camera Ready’s website) for most of my eye look today. For my 1st transition color I chose the shade Matt Singh (a dusty mauve matte). For my 2nd transition color I used the shade Matt Rosen (a cool toned chocolate brown matte). To deepen the crease I used the shade Matt Garcia (a cool toned mid-tone brown matte). I moved to my mobile lid and took the shade Matt Malloy (a bright flat white matte) all over the mobile lid. I then took the AOA Studio Velour Eyeshadow ($1 on the Shop Miss A website) in the shade Virgin (an icy pink cream to powder) all over the inner 2/3 of my mobile lid. I then took the shade Matt Wood (a cool toned deep brown matte) to the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and to also deepen the outer v. I then took more of Matt Garcia and patted it over the middle 1/3 to help blend the outer and inner 1/3 of the mobile lid. On the lower lash line I created a soft drop shadow using the shade Matt Singh and then using Matt Garcia I lined the lower lash line. I highlighted the inner corners using Urban Decay Single Eyeshadow () in the shade Urban Cowboy. I set my brows using Pixi by Petra Brow Tamer ($10 at Target) in clear and then filled in my brows using ELF Ultra Precise Brow Pencil ($5 at Ulta and on the ELF website) in the shade Dark Brown. I carved out my brow line using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and set that using more of the shade Matt Malloy. I lined my lower waterlines using ColourPop BFF Gel Liner ($6 on their website) in the shade Get Paid (rose gold metallic). For mascara I used The Balm What’s Your Type? in the shade Black.
Cheeks and Lips: For blush today I chose Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-HR Blush ($29 at Ulta and Sephora) in the color Blissful (a rose pink matte). I highlighted the tops of my cheeks, bridge of the nose, Cupid’s Bow, and center of the forehead using Loreal True Match Lumi Glow Nude Highlighter Palette ($11.99 at Target) in the color Sun Soleil. I lined my lips using Loreal 6-HR Infallible Never Fail Lip Liner ($8.99 at Target) in the shade Coral. I then filled in my lips using The Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes ($17 on their website) in the shade Doting (a coral based peach). I then topped the lips off with Physicians Formula Butter Lip Cream ($8.49 on their website) in the shade Guava Mama (a bright coral peach).
Final Thoughs:
CoverGirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation: I really love this foundation so much. It looks beautiful on the face. However, the shade I have is way too dark for me now. I didn’t really even need to bronze my face, that’s how dark this foundation is. You can still find this foundation on Amazon and at Walmart, but the shade I need is 725 Buff Beige and it’s $20 on Amazon only…. I refuse to pay $20 for a drug store foundation! As much as I love this foundation I have decluttered it from my collection since I can’t get the shade I need.
Loreal True Match Lumi Glow Nude Highlighter Palette: When I purchased this palette from Ulta 2 of the shades were completely smashed and I never got around to calling them for a replacement. The 2 shades that survived are a bit too dark for me, and then there is the fact that this highlighter is glittery. I just don’t enjoy this highlighter. I have decluttered it from my collection.
The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude Palette: I purchased my palette on the Brigettes Boutique website for $40, this can also be found on the Camera Ready website. I don’t reach for this palette a ton, mainly because I have a ton of eyeshadow. I really love the looks I can create with this palette. There is barely any kick back in the pans and no fall out on the face. The shades blend out so easily and the shades buff into each other with out going muddy. The shadows are a tad bit drier of a formula but there doesn’t seem to be any skipping or patchiness. I will not be decluttering this palette from my collection.
Makeup Geek Fair Skin Bronzer: I am so hoping that with this rebrand that Makeup Geek comes out with bronzers and blushes in the same shade family that I already have. I truly love this bronzer. It’s a great everyday tone. It never goes on patchy and it buffs into the skin wonderfully. I will not be decluttering this from my collection.
ELF Sheer Tint Finishing Powder: This shade range is so bizarre. For being a light-medium shade this shade is so orange. It’s a nice powder but the shade just doesn’t do it for me. I may at some point pick up the fair-light shade, but for now I have decluttered this one from my collection.
Well there you have it …. out of the 5 products on the chopping block, I chose to declutter 3 and keep 2. My makeup collection is starting to come together nicely and tomorrow I will be testing another handful of products to see if I will declutter them. In the meantime, I hope you have a great rest of your day/night, and that you are with as low pain as possible (for those of you with auto-immune illnesses) and that you are with plenty of spoons. Remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.
XOXO
