Grungy Gold Face of the Day

Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great day/night. I had trouble getting out of bed today. I stayed in bed till 10:15 am today….I am in pain and have low energy and just all around don’t feel good. Today I was aiming for a sultry smokey eye and what I ended up with is this grungy gold eye look instead…. I still kinda like it so instead of starting over I decided to keep it. So let’s jump into the Face of the Day …..

Base: I primed the face using Marc Jacobs Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer ($45 at Sephora) and I finally used every last bit of it up. I color corrected using Believe Beauty Brighten Up Color Correcting Concealer ($4 at Dollar General) in the shade Light/Medium. For foundation today I chose NYX Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil ($13 at Ulta) in the shade Beige Camel. I concealed my under eyes using Too Faced Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer ($29 at Ulta) in the shade Vanilla. I set my full face using Believe Beauty Matte Blur Loose Powder ($5 at Dollar General) in the shade Translucent. I contoured my cheek bones slightly using Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette ($49.50 at Sephora) using the shade Sombre and then warmed up the face using the shade Shadowplay. I then took the shade Lucid under the eyes to brighten that area up a bit. I baked my jaw line, bridge of the nose, and center of my forehead using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website).

Eyes: I primed my lids using NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($30 at Sephora) in the shade Medium 1 Custard and set that using more of the Believe Beauty Loose Powder. For today’s look I used the ColourPop Bare Necessities Palette ($34 on their website). For my transition color I used the shade All 4 U (a dusty mauve pink matte). For my crease I used the shade Tabloid (a deep caramel matte). I then took a combo of the shades Act A Fool (a dusty mid-toned mauve matte) and Crack On (a chestnut brown matte) and deepened lower on the crease. On the mobile lid I took the shade Genie (a golden bronze metallic) onto the middle 1/3 of the lid and then I took the shade Rumored (a silvery taupe metallic) onto the inner 1/3 of the mobile lid. I then took the shade Cufflinks (a rosey purple with a pink sheen satin) onto the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid. I then took a combo of the shades Taboo (a deep brown matte) and Crack On (a chestnut brown matte) and deepened the outer v. I created a drop shadow on my lower lash line using more of the shade Tabloid. I then tight lined my upper lash line and then lined my upper lash line and lower waterlines using Flower Beauty Forever Wear Longwear Eyeliner ($7.99 at Ulta) in the shade Onyx, I also smudged this liner along the lower lashes and buffed it out to match the drop shadow. I highlighted the inner corners using the shade Idol Hour (a warm ivory with a pale peach sheen metallic). I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 at Dollar General) in clear and filled in my brows using Loreal Brow Stylist Definer ($7.99 at Target) in the shade Dark Brunette. I carved out my brow line using the BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and set that with the shade Full Expose (a creamy vanilla matte). I put on a pair of Ardell Soft Touch #161 lashes ($4.99 at Ulta) and then used Flower Beauty Lash Warrior Mascara ($9.99 at Ulta) in the shade Fiercest Black.

Cheeks and Lips: My blush today is Burt’s Bees Blush ($9.99 at Ulta) in the shade Bare Peach. I highlighted the tops of my cheeks, bridge of the nose, Cupid’s Bow, and center of the forehead using Benefit Powder Highlighter ($30 at Ulta) in the shade Cookie. I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil ($6 but on sale for $4.20 on their website) in the shade Love Bug (a rich mahogany) and then I filled in my lips with Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips ($34 at Sephora and on the Beautylish website) in the shade Kim KW (a pale peach nude).

Final Thoughts:

Marc Jacobs Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer: B++ Dolls!!! I finally finished this primer up!!! It was hydrating and helped the foundation wear well…but there was nothing special about this one. It was just OK to me. I have other primers that are hydrating at a lower price point so I will not be repurchasing this one.

NYX Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil: A- I think True Beige Buff would be a better match for me but Beige Camel is still a pretty good match for me. This is a good Tinted Moisturizer. Goes on even. Doesn’t cake up. You can get medium coverage with 1 pass and high medium coverage with a second pass. It lasts a good while on the skin. I’ve clocked it at around 6 to 7 hours of wear time before it starts to fade. I will definitely use this tube up…. not sure if I will repurchase it though.

Too Faced Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer: A+ OK, now that I’ve got this one figured out I like it. I finally found that if I only go in with a few dots along the under eyes, this concealer looks pretty. This is definitely not the type of concealer you can go full glam under the eyes with. I’m very happy that I gave it another shot.

Flower Beauty Forever Wear Longwear Eyeliner: A+++!!!! FINALLY!!! I found a black eyeliner that lays down on my waterline and it doesn’t fade either!!! This liner is creamy and goes on smoothly without skipping or tugging. As soon as I realized that this one was going to be good for my waterline I popped onto their website and ordered 2 more for backups!!

Ardell Soft Touch #161 Lashes: A++ These lashes are super cute for everyday wear. They are just the right size for me too, I didn’t have to trim them down. They feel light weight and do not pinch the inner or outer corners either.

Flower Beauty Lash Warrior Mascara: B+

This is an OK mascara. It gives good lift to the eyes but I find that it often gives me spider eyes so I tend to over look it. I don’t know I go back and forth with this one, some days I love it and other days it’s just OK. I’ll use this one up but I don’t think I will repurchase it.
