My Second Attempt At A Halo Eye Face of the Day

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I woke up super late today. I didn’t roll out of bed till 9 am. I had a hard time sleeping last night due to pain and once again, because of the cold, I am having a high pain day. I also restarted my makeup 3 times today. This halo eye stuff is difficult! I still didn’t perfect it but I’m going to keep practicing until I get it right.  Well let’s jump into this Face of the Day….

Base: I primed the face using Loreal Infallible Glow-Lock Illuminating Primer ($12.99 at Ulta). For my foundation today I used a combo of 2 pumps of Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($45 at Sephora) in the shade Dew you and 3 pumps of BH Cosmetics Naturally Flawless Foundation ($9.50 at Ulta) in the shade 208 Medium Beige. I color corrected using Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 at Target) in the shade Brightening Peach. I concealed my under eyes using The Balm Time Balm ($18 on their website) in the shade Light/Medium. I set my full face using Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Setting Powder ($33 at Ulta) in the shade Translucent. I warmed up the face using Makeup Geek Fair Skin Bronzer (discontinued due to rebranding) in the shade Sun Kissed. I lightly baked the jaw line and center of my forehead using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website).

Eyes: I primed the lids using NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($30 at Sephora) in the shade Medium 1 Custard and set that using more RCMA powder. To create this eye look I used the ELF The New Classics Palette ($14 on their website). I used the shade Truffle (a light camel tan matte) all over the mobile lid and all the way up to my brow bone. I then used the color Darling (a deep terracotta matte) all through my crease and on the inner and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid. I then used the combo of the shades Truffle, Darling, and Muse (a deep chocolate brown matte) to deepen the crease and inner and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid. I then used more of the NARS Soft Matte Concealer to cut out the halo, I had watched a YouTube tutorial on how to do a tornado halo (still don’t have it down pat), so I cut the halo out in a sort of upside down triangle. I then used the shade Cosmo (a taupe with a pink flip shimmer) to cover the halo. I then went back in with Darling and patted that around the halo. On my bottom lash line I created a drop shadow using Darling and buffing that out with Truffle. I then deepened my lash line using Muse. I highlighted the inner corners using Hikari cream pigment ($15 on their website) in the shade Honey  Dew (an icy pink). I lined my lower waterlines using ColourPop Lippie Pencil ($6 on their website) in the shade As If (a pale beige nude). I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 at Dollar General) in clear and started to block my brows out using Loreal Brow Stylist Definer ($8.99 at Ulta) in the shade Dark Brunette but I ran out just as I finished my second brow so I filled in my brows using NYX Micro Brow Pencil ($7 at Ulta) in the shade Espresso. I carved out my brow line using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and set that using the shade Creme (a creamy vanilla matte). I popped on a pair of KoKo Lashes ($7.99 on the Lady Moss website) in the style Queen B and then lined the inner corner of my upper lids using the shade Noir (a dusty black matte). I then used 2 coats of MAC Extended Play Gigablack Lash ($20 at Ulta) on both my upper and lower lashes.

Cheeks and Lips: For blush today I am using Revolution Beauty Blusher Reloaded ($7 on their website and at Ulta) in the shade Rhubarb & Custard (a coral pink matte). I highlighted the tops of my cheeks, center of the forehead, bridge of the nose, and Cupid’s bow using Essence Pure Nude Highlighter ($4.99 at Ulta) in the shade 10 Be My Light (a peachy champagne). I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil ($6 on their website) in the shade Obvi (light pinkish brown) and filled in my lips using ColourPop Lippie Stix (color exclusive to the Big Box of Lippie Stix) in the shade With the Band (peachy pink matte).

Final Thoughts:

BH Cosmetics Naturally Flawless Foundation: A+++                                                                     I am still loving this foundation. The shade is a spot on match for me and it’s full coverage without being heavy on the face. It also pairs beautifully with a shimmer mix in like the Marc Jacobs one I used today. It doesn’t loose coverage or change shade with the mix in. This foundation doesn’t set down all the way so you do need to set it with powder but even with using powder I don’t feel like I’m wearing anything. I did notice my pump stopped working though, this might be because I had it laying on it’s side in my everyday makeup basket…. So I will have to try it again after it’s been sitting upright for a while.

The Balm Time Balm: A+++                                                                                                        Every single time I use this concealer I have a great under eye day. Only a little of this concealer goes a long way. It does need to be set or it will crease because it’s so emollient but it’s worth the extra step to get a great look. I’ve been using this concealer on and off for the past several months and I have barely made a dent in the pot.

ELF The New Classics Palette: A-                                                                                                        I love the shades in this palette. The shadows are highly pigmented and blend like a dream. The shades also buff into each other with out skipping or going muddy. There is little kick back in the pans, however …. the reason for the A- grading is the fallout!! There is heavy fallout on the face with this palette…. dark shades, light shades…. it doesn’t matter they all fallout on the face. The only shades that don’t fallout are the shimmer shades. I still will use this palette because the looks I can create are beautiful with this palette… I just do not recommend doing your base makeup before using this palette. (I always do my eyes first so this is not an issue for me.)

Loreal Brow Stylist Definer:A+++!!!!                                                                                                  I can’t believe I’m out of this pencil!!! I really loved this pencil so much. It was the perfect shade, the perfect consistency, and lasted all day without fading. I have repurchased it and also purchased a back up.

NYX Micro Brow Pencil: A+++                                                                                                        This is a great little pencil. It doesn’t skip or pull at my brow hairs. It’s just the right amount of creamy and also wears well. It’s a little on the warm side for my brows but I can make it work.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you have a great rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits. I’m going to keep practicing this halo eye thing and hopefully I will master it shortly. Until tomorrow dolls, lots of love and spoons. Remember, save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
