All Matte Basic Smokey Eye Face of the Day

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I woke up a bit late today and had a heap of errands to do this morning so I didn’t get to work on my makeup until around 3:30 PM.

As promised … I did 1 final look with the ColourPop Mulan Palette ($22 on their website). I have managed to use every shade except the shade Undefeated (I just wasn’t feeling ruby red this week).

Today’s scent is Kate Spade Live Colorfully perfume… Let’s jump into today’s super simple basic matte smokey eye look and today’s Face of the Day….

Base:

I first primed my problematic pore areas with Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta) and then primed the full face using Makeup Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer ($37 at Sephora) in Smoothing. I then used the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter ($39 at Ulta and Sephora) as my glow lotion for the day. My foundation today is Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation ($50 at Sephora) in the shade Beige 3. I used a bit of Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 on their website and at Target) in the shade Brightening Peach for some light color correction and for concealer I chose Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25-HR Breathable Light Weight Medium Coverage Concealer ($4.99 at Target and Walmart) in the shade 200 Light.  I contoured using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora, on the Beautylish website, and on the Charlotte Tilbury website) in the shade Medium Dark to contour the perimeter of my face and down the bridge of my nose. I highlighted the tops of my cheek bones, bridge of the nose, center of the chin, and high points of my forehead using Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand  ($38 on the Beautylish website, The Charlotte Tilbury website and at Sehora) in the shade Spot Light and then I went in with just a touch of Benefit Boxed Highlighter ($30 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade cookie to set the high points of my face. I set my under eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes ($28 at Ulta) in the shade 1 and then set the rest of my face using the  Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Setting Powder ($33 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. I then topped off  the perimeter of my face using a light layer of MAC Mineralize Skinfinish ($36 at Ulta and MAC) in the shade Give Me Sun (light smmer peachy tan). I also used the Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up The Light Highlighting Palette ($42 at Ulta and Sephora) and using the Soft Focus powder as an all over finishing powder. I chose the Wet n Wild Photofocus Pressed Powder ($5.47 on their website but on sale now for $3.57) in the shade Neutral Beige as my touch up powder for the day.

Eyes:

I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 at Dollar General) in clear and then filled in my brows using Joah Brow Down To Me Precision Brow Pencil ($9.50 on their website) in the shade Brunette. I carved out the brow line using BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the shimmer side and then I primed my lids using P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5. and then set the brow line using Wet n Wild Color Icon Single Shadow ($.99 at Walgreens) in Sugar (icy white pearl). For today’s eye look I used the new ColourPop Mulan Palette ($22 on their website). I started with the shade Brave (warm mid-tone brown loaded with gold pearl sequin shadow) and I buffed it onto the whole of my lid from lash line to brow line. I then went into the shade Honor (cool deep brown matte) and I buffed that from lash line to deep crease. I then used the shade Defiant ( black loaded with silver and gold pearl sequin shadow) all over my mobile lid. For the lower lash line I first created a drop shadow using more of the shade Brave and then I deepened the lash line using more of the shade Honor. I highlighted my inner corners using the shade Like a Girl (silver taupe metallic). I tight lined both my upper and lower waterlines using L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Last Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner ($8.99 at Ulta) in the shade Black and then used 2 coats for the upper lashes and 1 for the lower lashes of NYX On The Rise Volume Liftscara ($11 at Ulta). I also popped on a pair of ObsidiancosmeticsUS  handmade false lashes ($7.99 on her Etsy shop) in the style Beauty Queen.

Final Thoughts:

So I have been testing out those products from my last post about the chopping block and I am torn with all 3 mascaras … I really do enjoy them so I do not think I will be decluttering any mascaras….however, so far I do not like 1 of the 3 concealers that I have tried out, and I 1 of the 3 concealers that I’ve tried I’m just OK with so I may have to do a second round of testing to see if I can whittle the chopping block products down further.

Today was the last day for my Mulan palette for now…. I have a few new palettes I would like to start playing with. I was able to get 4 distinctively different eye looks with this palette. I could have done a 5th but I’m just not feeling the ruby red shade this week, so I shall have to play around with this palette again so that I can get into that shade (it truly is a pretty color I just didn’t feel inspired to use it this week).

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

Remember dolls …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
