Bright Glam Face of the Day

Hey doll hey!!! How have you been? Great I hope. I’ve been in a full on fibro flare for 10 days now, but today was the first time I was able to get out of bed. It took me a while to do my makeup because I had to stop a few times to rest… But I was able to get a full on beat face done so that’s a win in my book.

I’ve learned a lot in the 7 days that I took off in support of the Amplified Melanated Voices movement. I’ve reflected and I’ve listened and most importantly I have learned so much. I am very thankful for the experience. I am truly grateful for being able to have the ability to learn so much about this beautiful culture that is the Black community. I have some up coming blog post projects that I am currently working on to help push this movement forward.

In the meantime … I have resumed my daily Face of the Day posts … starting today…. So let’s get started.

Base: I primed my face using VDL Lumilayer Primer ($32 at Ulta) and also ELF Poreless Putty Primer ($8 at Ulta). My Foundation is No7. Protect & Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation ($15.99 at Target, Walmart, and the No7 website) in the shade Calico. I contoured my face using first the NYX Micro-Contour Duo Pencil (originally $10 but on sale for $5 on the NYX website) in the shade Deep (using the deeper shade of the duo) and then to further pronounce the contour I went in with a bit of Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Medium Deep. I bronzed using NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Contour Concealer ($8.50 at Ulta) in the shade Walnut. I highlighted the high points of my face using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Spotlight. For my under eyes I concealed using NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Contour Concealer ($8.50 at Ulta) in the shade Vanilla. I set my under eyes using ELF Smooth and Set High Definition Undereye Setting Powder ($4 on their website) in the shade sheer * This is a spot on dupe for the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder* and then I set the rest of my face using Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta) in the shade translucent. I then went in with a bit of Benefit Boxed Bronzer ($30 at Ulta) in Hoola. I also went in with a bit of the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder ($44 at Sephora) in Highlight 01. For my touch up powder today I have chosen the Physicians Formula Natural Defense Setting the Tone Finishing Powder ($14.99 at Ulta) in the shade Light.

Eyes: I set my brows using Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel ($22 at Ulta) and filled in my brows using Revolution Pro Define and Fill Brow Pencil ($8 at Ulta) in the shade Dark Brown. I carved out my brow line using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and then primed the rest of my lids using the  P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5. For today’s eye look I used the Juvia’s Place The Warrior III Palette ($20 at Ulta and on the Juvia’s Place website). I started by setting the crease to brow line using Wet n Wild Color Icon Single Eye Shadow ($.99 at Walgreens) in the shade Creme Brulee. For my Crease I chose the shade Kahina (a berry pink matte). I then went into the shade Candace (a vibrant true purple matte) for the outer 1/3 of my mobile lid and the outer v of the crease. For the remaining 2/3 of my the mobile lid I used the shade Kongo (a light sea blue metallic). I then took a clean fluffy crease brush and buffed over the entire eye to blend all the harsh edges. For the lower lash line I created a drop shadow using more of the shade Kahina. I then I used more of Candace closest to the lash line. I then went in with more of the shade Kongo on the inner 1/3 of the lower lash line and then lightened it with the shade Karama (a steel blue metallic). I highlighted the inner corners using Hikari Creme Pigment ($15 on their website) in the shade Fairtale (an icy white metallic). I lined my lower lash line using NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta) in the shade Ametyst. I created small wing on the upper lash line using Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner ($22 at Ulta) in the shade Intense Black. I then coated my lashes with 1 coat of The Balm What’s Your Type? Mascara ($19 on their website) and then popped on a pair of Obsidian Cosmetics Lashes ($7.99 on their Etsy website) in the style Barbie.

Cheeks and Lips: For blush today I am using NYX Sweet Cheeks Matte Blush ($7.50 at Ulta) in the shade Summer Breeze (a dusty coral matte). I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil (sold as part of the Big Box of Lippie Pencils Vault- no longer available) in the shade Dial Up (vibrant hot pink) and then filled in my lips using the ColourPop Lippie Stix (sold as part of the Big Box of Lippie Stix Vault- no longer available) in the shade Casanova (bold watermelon pink).

Final Thoughts:

Whilst suck in bed this past week I’ve had a long time to reflect on the state of the world right now. I’ve used the time to better educate myself and to support my BIPOC brothers and sisters.

I’ve also taken some time to just recharge my batteries and to take care of myself.

I’ve been in pain my whole life but the pain is the worst during a flare up . I also had almost nonexistent energy so I needed help taking a shower, changing my clothes, cooking, and just everyday tasks that others take for granted.

I’ve lived solely in pajamas, have eaten only soft foods, and basically slept as often as I could to try and help this flare pass…

I feel grateful for the boost in energy that I have today and I am not over doing it today so that I don’t end up in bed again tomorrow.

I was able to shower, change my clothes, and do my makeup with basically little effort (except when I had to rest for a bit) and was even able to cook dinner for my family and make some tiktok cookies.

I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who kept me going whistle in this flare… and for those of you who have checked in on me.

I would also like to welcome some new bloggers to me that have followed me this past week … so thank you to :

Thank you for joining my blog !!!

Well That’s all for now dolls…. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in great spirits and health.

Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
