Rainbow Glam Face of the Day

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I woke up around 10 AM today. I still feel nauseous so I’m not wearing any perfume.

I decided to play with the new ELF x JKissa To the Rescue Eyeshadow Palette ($20 at Ulta). I want to do a Rainbow series so today I was just playing around with the shadows to get a feel for them. My eyes are really watery today so I had a hard time with it also I put down a crease shade in light brown however … this made the JKissa shadows go on patchy. So let’s get into today’s Face of the Day ….

Base:

I primed my face using Too Faced HangoveRX ($34 at Ulta) and I primed my pore areas using Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta). I then used Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter ($44 at Sephora) in the shade 3. For foundation today I chose Makeup Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Radiance Foundation ($12 at Ulta) in the shade F5.7. Since I was doing a full on rainbow glam I kept most of my face neutral and so I skipped my contour and opted to bronze lightly using the Tarte Breezy Cream Bronzer ($29 at Sephora) in the shade Grace Bay. I highlighted the high points of my face using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Spotlight. I concealed my under eyes using L’Oreal Infallible Full Wear Concealer ($13.49 at Ulta) in the shade 360 Cashmere.  I set my under eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($28 at Ulta and Sephora). I set my bronzer using Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer ($15.99 at Ulta) in the regular bronzer shade.  I set my highlight using Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up The Light Highlighting Palette ($42 at Ulta and Sephora) in the Light color way and using the shade Glow. I set the rest of the face using Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Loose Setting Powder ($33 at Ulta) in the shade Translucent.  For my setting powder I’ve chosen BH Studio Pro Matte Finish Pressed Powder (usually $9.50 but on sale for $4.75 on their website) in the shade 230.

Eyes:

I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 only at Dollar General stores) in clear and filled in my brows using Milani Stay Put Brow Color ($8.49 at Ulta) in the shade 05 Dark Brown. I carved out my brow line using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and then primed the rest of my lids using the  P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5. For today’s eye look I used the ELF x JKissa To the Rescue Eyeshadow Palette ($20 at Ulta). I first set my brow line using the shade creme from the ELF The New Classics Palette ($14 on their website). I then used a combo of the shades Truffle and Uptown from the same palette to warm up the crease. I then switched to the JKissa palette and started with the red matte shade called Casey and went all the way through to the purple matte shade called Sadie patting a little over the last shade to blend the shades together. I then decided to take the color all the way to the brow itself. I then went back over all the shades with the corresponding shimmer shades starting with the red shimmer called Strawberry and ending with the purple shimmer called Confetti. For the lower lash line I started at the outer corner with the deep purple matte called Pretty girl and ending with the deep red matte called Pepper. I then used a bit more of the shade Strawberry (the red shimmer) on the red at the inner corners. I tight lined my lower and upper waterlines using BH Cosmetics Power Pencil ($8 at Ulta) in the shade Black. I coated my lashes in Milani Dangerous Lengths ($9.99 at Ulta) in the shade 112 Black. I then popped on an old pair of Velour Lashes ($26 at Sephora) in the style Fluffy and Wispy.

Cheeks and Lips:

For blush I used Tarte Amazonian 12-HR Blush ($29 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Natural Beauty (rosey red). I lined and filled in my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil ($6 on their website) in the shade BFF (warm nude) and then topped off my lips using ColourPop Lippie Stix (only available in the Big Box of Lippie Stix Vault that was limited edition) in the shade Dream Date (pale warm nude – creme). I finished off my look with Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up The Light Highlighting Palette ($42 at Ulta and Sephora) in the Light color way … I used the middle shade called Soft Focus as a finishing powder.

ELF x JKissa To the Rescue Eyeshadow Palette : I grade it a B+ : There is a learning curve to this shadow formula. It can be a bit patchy and messy. The fall out is major with this shadow palette… I mean major! I had to use a ton of makeup remover to clean up all the fallout on my face. and the Kickback in the pan is just as bad. I think the shades are pretty but the mess is just so major. I’ll keep trying to work with the palette this week to see if I can get use to it. I wonder if I just went to ambitious with my first ever rainbow eye look…. so maybe I can try something a bit more simple tomorrow and see how the shadows perform then.

I also don’t really like today’s look. I think maybe it’s because I took the eye shadow all the way to the brow …. maybe I don’t know … I just really don’t like the look. Perhaps it’s just that I’m not use to so much color all at one time? At any rate …. I will have to keep toying with this palette to see how best to use it.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and good health.

Remember …. Save a spoon for a little lipstick.

XOXO, Nita
