When Fantasy Meets Reality 4th Beauty Haul of July 2020

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m feeling pretty good today.

I wanted to do a haul post today but I also wanted to do a follow up to the beauty tag created by Emily Noel on her Youtube channel on the video entitled What’s in My $1,000 SEPHORA FANTASY BASKET… TAG!

I did this tag in 2 parts one for a Fantasy Sephora Basket and one for a Fantasy Ulta Basket

She did a follow up video to her tag called FANTASY MAKEUP BASKET MEETS REALITY… What I Actually Bought and I thought that was so fun so I thought instead of doing my traditional style of haul post I thought I’d do this video on my blog to show what I ended up purchasing from my Ulta and Sephora fantasy posts.

So let’s take a peak at what I purchased …. * Remember all swatches are done on bare skin with no primer and in 1 pass…. the pictures on the left are done without flash and the ones on the right are done with flash*

The first few items I purchased through Ulta.

The only product from my Ulta Fantasy Basket that I purchased was the BECCA Ignite Liquified Light Highlighter $38 for 1.5 ounces of product in the shade Passion. It’s billed as a liquid highlighter for face and body that gives skin an all over pearlized glow. It has multi-dimensional micro-pearls that are suspended in BECCA’s crystal-gel formula to give skin a pearlized glow that is transfer and water resistant and comes in 5 shades.

This is such an amazing highlighter! It’s creamy yet stiff enough that it doesn’t mess with the products underneath. It’s super reflective without looking greasy. It’s so beautiful and even shows up after you’ve set your face with powder! It has a slight scent to it but nothing over whelming and I can’t place where I’ve smelt this scent before but it is very familiar.

I also purchased the BECCA Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder ($39 at Ulta and Sephora for .35 ounces of product) …. this one was in my Fantasy Sephora Basket but I ended up purchasing it through Ulta. It’s billed as a weightless setting powder that refreshes and cools the skin with all-day moisture that’s formulated with 50% water that sets makeup while refreshing and cooling skin on contact with a mist-like sensation and applies seamlessly, providing all-day moisture without caking and claims that light is diffused across the skin to improve tone and diminish the appearance of lines and pores all day.

If you remember I had gotten a deluxe sample from BECCA when I placed my last order with them. I fell in love on the second day of using it. It’s just amazing. It sets the face and truly does blur the skin and does not cake or look dusty and as I’ve said in the past upon application it really does feel like you are misting your face with a spray. It’s the coolest little gimmick I’ve ever experienced.

I also re-purchased the Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Loose Setting Powder ($33 at Ulta and Sephora for .56 ounces of product). It comes in 3 shades (translucent, translucent medium, and translucent deep). It’s billed as a  a silky, lightweight powder that sets makeup while providing a veil of perfecting luminosity for a finish so natural they’ll think you were Born This Way. It claims to help brighten and boost skin’s radiance with hyaluronic Acid gives a smoother, more youthful appearance and also claims to be photo friendly with no flashback.

I’m running super low and I just don’t want to be without this loose powder …. it is, after all, my all time… top shelf …. holy grail setting powder. It give this other worldly natural lilt to the face. It blurs the face so well that in person you look Face Tuned. It’s just simply amazing.

The products from my Sephora Fantasy Basket were:

Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer $32 for 1 fluid ounce of product. This one is billed as a lightweight, hydrating makeup primer for normal to dry skin that nurtures, keeps skin comfortable all day, and extends foundation wear that instantly hydrates skin, and keeps it hydrated all day and extends makeup wear. Formulated with grape seed oil and sodium hyaluronate, this fast-absorbing formula melts into skin, for a silky-smooth finish that normal to dry skin types will love.

What I’ve learned from swatching this primer is that it is very moisturizing without being tacky or sticky. It also skins in to a semi- matte powdery finish that appears to blur the skin slightly.

Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation $35 for 1.8 fluid ounces of product. This foundation comes in 50 shades with plenty of shades for light, medium, and deep skin tones. It’s billed as a hydrating, natural finish foundation that delivers comfortable, long-wear in medium-to-full coverage perfect for normal to dry skin. This foundation comes in 50 shades with 16 shades for deep skin tones, 17 shades for medium skin tones, and 14 shades for lighter skin tones.

What I’ve learned from swatching this foundation is that a little travels a long way. It is a demi-satin finished foundation that would appear to be more on the full coverage side than it is medium. I left the swatch on for 10 minutes to see if it would oxidize and also to see if it would set down. It does not oxidize but it does set down a bit … doesn’t set all the way but it does set enough that if you are not a fan of powders you should be good to go without having a tacky finish. The shade I chose #120 : for fair skin with neutral undertones. I perhaps could have gotten away with either shade #130 : for fair skin with warm olive undertones or #140 :  for light skin with warm yellow undertones because #120 is just a slight bit light for me … but I can get away with #120 once I bronze and add a touch of blusher.

Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Bronzer $32 for .22 ounces of product in the shade Teddy (cream brownzer). This cream bronzer only comes in 1 shade for contour. It’s billed as a light-as-air, non-greasy cream bronzer that effortlessly melts into skin for a natural-looking bronze or soft contour and claims to deliver a natural-looking bronze in a range of sheer, buildable shades designed for all. Easy to blend and impossible to overdo, this light-as-air, sweat- and water-resistant formula instantly melts into skin without disturbing makeup to bronze, define, or contour with its range of undertones.

What I’ve learned from swatching this cream bronzer (in the shade 05 Teddy – tan skin tones) is that it’s very creamy but not saturated in pigment like say the SEA Breezy Cream Bronzer by Tarte. It’s a very light pigmented bronzer that melts into the skin and ends up looking just like the skin has been kissed by the sun. It’s not an obvious bronzer look, it’s more of a warming of the skin bronzer that can be built up to I’d say a solid medium pigmentation.

Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush $20 for .1 ounce of product in the shade 06 Daiquiri Dip – soft coral red. This blush comes in 10 shades and is billed as a light-as-air, non-greasy cream blush that instantly melts into skin for a wash of color and natural-looking flush.

What I’ve learned from swatching this cream blush is that, like the cream bronzer, it’s very creamy but not saturated in pigment. It gives a nice flush to the skin without being over bearing. It’s high low pigmentation that can be build up to medium-medium pigmentation (as seen in the second set of swatched photos). I purchased mine in the shade 06 Daiquiri Dip – soft coral red. I’ve seen a lot of people being taken aback by how little this cream blush is, however I’m not one of those people. You only need the smallest of taps into the product to cover both cheeks and so having such a small product will still last a long time. Having a big cream blush put’s you at a disadvantage because #1 it can dry up fast and #2 there may be a lot of product that goes to waste because it expired.

I also purchased the Fenty Pro Filt’R Instant Retouch Concealer $26 for .27 fluid ounces of product. It’s billed as a creamy, long-wear, crease-proof liquid concealer with light-as-air, medium-to-full matte coverage that brightens under-eyes and conceals blemishes and redness. It comes in 50 shades with 16 shades for deep skin tones, 20 for medium skin tones, and 14 for light skin tones.

What I’ve learned from swatching this concealer is that it’s high pigment meets medium coverage. I swatched it using just the amount of 1 side of the flat doe-foot applicator and that was enough that I would be able to do both eyes and still have some to highlight the nose, forehead, and chin. I purchased it in the shade #110 for very fair skin w/ cool pink undertones but I think I could have gone for # 120 – for fair skin w/ neutral undertones or even # 130 – for fair skin w/ warm olive undertones because #110 is very light on me. It’s OK though I know I can make it work for me. I left it on for 10 minutes to see if it would oxidize and if it would set down. It did not oxidize and it did not set down ….this one will definitely need to be set with powder, however it did not sink into the fine lines of the back on my hand so I feel that this one isn’t going to crease on me. It is a thick consistence similar to the Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer.

Along with the Fenty products I also decided to pick up 2 of their brushes:

The Fenty Kabuki-Buff Foundation Brush $36 at Sephora. It’s billed as a  large, domed foundation brush that is designed to seamlessly buff and stipple Pro Filt’r foundation for fast buildable coverage.

This foundation brush has a densely packed head with a bluntly rounded toe (the top part of a makeup brush), slim belly (the mid and end points of the makeup brush) and the bristles are super soft. The ferrule does not have a crimp to it and is cut on an angle at the part that would hold the crimp. The handle handle is even balanced and tappers to a point at the end. The hairs of the brush are super smooth and perfectly uniformed.

The Fenty Precision Concealer Brush $26 at Sephora. It’s billed as a softly-angled concealer brush designed for applying and blending liquid, cream, and powder formulas with flawless, fingertip precision.

This concealer brush has a lightly packed head with a gradually tapered rounded toe (the top part of a makeup brush), medium width belly (the mid and end points of the makeup brush) and the bristles are super soft. The ferrule does not have a crimp to it and is cut on an angle at the part that would hold the crimp. The handle handle is even balanced and tappers to a point at the end. The hairs of the brush are super smooth and perfectly uniformed.

Well that’s all to this haul dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and good health.

Remember … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO, Nita
