Purple With A Pop of Green Face of the Day

Hey doll hey!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m starting to feel a bit better. Still a bit fatigued but my pain level has come down a bit, thankfully!!

My eye makeup was inspired by YouTuber Kelsee Briana Jai in a video she did titled Kaleidos Make Your Escape Collection Review + Tutorial . She used the color combo of purple and green and I thought it was so pretty that I wanted to try and do a purple and green look too. It didn’t come out as stunning as her look was (that might be because of the shadows she was using and the fact that she is a pro makeup artist) but I still am pretty happy with the final look.

I used my new Fenty base products so I will be reviewing them in Final Thoughts today.

Today I am wearing Gucci Bamboo ( it has top notes of Casablanca Lily & Amber Accords, middle notes of Orange Blossom & Ylang Ylang, and the scent rounds out with notes of Sandalwood, Tahitian Vanilla, and Ambergris). Well … let’s get into today’s Face of the Day ….

Base:

I primed my face using Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer ($32 at Sephora). Today I tried a new to me technique called reverse foundation or under painting (where you start by doing cream contour and highlight BEFORE you do your foundation) so I started with my contour using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora and on the Beautylish website) in the shade Medium/Deep. I then did my foundation using Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation ($35 at Sephora) in the shade 120 (for fair skin with neutral undertones). I bronzed up the face using Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Bronzer ($32 at Sephora) in the shade 05 Teddy (tan skin tones). I highlighted the high points of my face using the BECCA Ignite Liquified Light Highlighter ($38 for 1.5 fluid ounces of product at Ulta) in the shade Passion (pale, iridescent pearl that reflects gold). I color corrected using BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector ($32 on their website) in the shade light/medium and then concealed my under eyes using Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer ($26 at Sephora) in the shade 120 (for fair skin with neutral undertones).  I set my under eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($28 at Sephora and Ulta). I set the rest of my face using Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Loose Setting Powder ($33 at Ulta) in the shade Translucent. I touched up the bronzer on my face using the BECCA Sunlit Bronzer ($38 on their website) in the shade Ipanema Sun (medium auburn brown). For touch ups I am using BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Matte Finish Pressed Powder (Originally $9.50 but on sale for $4.75 on their website) in the shade #230.

Eyes:

I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 only at Dollar General Stores) in clear and then filled in my bows using ELF Lock On Liner & Brow Cream ($4 on their website) in the shade Medium Brown.  I carved out my brows and primed my lids using the P.Louise Base ($10 GBP/ $12.79 USD on their website) in the shade #02 Rumour. For today’s eye look I used shadows from 5 palettes. The palettes I used are: ColourPop It’s My Pleasure ($12 on their website), ColourPop Lilac You A Lot ($12 on their website), Juvia’s Place The Warrior III ($20 on their website), ELF Retro Paradise ($14 on their website) and ELF x JKissa To the Rescue ($20 on their website and at Ulta). I started by setting my brow line using the shade Canvas (cream – matte) from the Retro Palette. I then took a combo of the shades Imagine That (pastel lavender – matte) from the Lilac Palette and Kittenfish (cool lavender – matte) from the Pleasure Palette as my transition shade. As my crease shade and the inner and outer 1/3 of the mobile lids I used a combo of the shades Iffy (cool toned purple – matte) from the Lilac Palette and Fan Fiction (dusty pink – matte) from the Pleasure Palette. I then deepened the inner and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid using a combo of the shades Filtered (red plum – matte) from the Lilac Palette, Candace (berry toned plum – matte) from the Warrior III Palette, Sadie (red based true purple – matte) and Pretty Girl (blue based deep purple – matte) from the Rescue Palette. I then took a combo of more of the shade Pretty Girl (blue based deep purple – matte), Sadie (red based true purple – matte) from the Rescue Palette and Nightlife (dusty black – matte) from the Retro Palette to deepen the very outer most part of the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and the outer v of the crease. For the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid I used the shade Disco (lilac purple with a slight blue shift – metallic) from the Retro Palette. For the lower lash line I created a drop shadow using the residual shadow left of the brushes I used on my lids. Starting with the brush I used to deepen the outer v of the crease, moving to the brush I used for the crease and inner and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid, and finally blowing out the drop shadow using the brush I used for the transition shade. For the pop of green in the inner corner of my eyes I used a combo of the shades Baja Mar (yellow base pastel green – shimmer) from the Retro Palette, Peaky (true green – matte) and Reagan (true green with a slight silver shift – metallic) from the Rescue Palette. I also used just a hint of Revolution Highlighter Reloaded ($7 on their website) in the shade Just My Type  (a deeper champagne) over the top and then I buffed more of the green combo over the top of that to add a bit of dimension to the inner corners. I then lined my lower waterlines using ColourPop Lippie Pencil (both shades are only available in the Big Box of Lippie Pencils Vault – out of stock) in the shades TBH (deep violet) in the first 1/2 of the eye and ALT (blackened teal) in the outer 1/2 of the eye. I then took a clean pencil brush and smudged the 2 shades together. I coated my lower and upper lashes using Believe Beauty Hi-Definition Skinny Mascara ($4.50 only at Dollar General Stores) and then popped on a pair of ColourPop falsies ($8 on their website) in the style Mami.

Cheeks and Lips:

For blush I used Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush ($20 at Sephora) in the shade 06 Daiquiri Dip (soft coral red). I set the cream blush with the lightest hint of Revolution Blusher Reloaded ($7 on their website and at Ulta) in the shade Coral Dream (a bright coral red). I touched up my highlight and highlighted the Cupid’s Bow using Revolution Highlighter Reloaded ($7 on their website) in the shade Just My Type  (a deeper champagne). I lined and filled in my lips using Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat ($22 at Sephora) in the shade Pillow Talk (nude pink) and topped the lips off with ColourPop Ultra Glossy Lip (this shade discontinued) in the shade Bestie (creamy pink).

Final Thoughts:

I grade this primer a solid A+++!!! : Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer $32 for 1 fluid ounce of product. This one is billed as a lightweight, hydrating makeup primer for normal to dry skin that nurtures, keeps skin comfortable all day, and extends foundation wear that instantly hydrates skin, and keeps it hydrated all day and extends makeup wear. Formulated with grape seed oil and sodium hyaluronate, this fast-absorbing formula melts into skin, for a silky-smooth finish that normal to dry skin types will love.

I am 100 % in love with this primer!!!! I only needed 2 pumps to cover my full face and neck, it smells nice (I can’t quite put my finger on the scent but it’s a fresh… clean scent), it’s super hydrating, not sticky or tacky at all and it gave my skin a healthy glow to it…. not like a highlighter type glow …. just a natural looking glow to the skin. Foundation went over this primer flawlessly!

I am so darn happy to have finally purchased this primer! I already know I will repurchase this one when I’ve used up the one I just purchased.

I grade this foundation a solid A+++!!! : Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation $35 for 1.8 fluid ounces of product. This foundation comes in 50 shades with plenty of shades for light, medium, and deep skin tones. It’s billed as a hydrating, natural finish foundation that delivers comfortable, long-wear in medium-to-full coverage perfect for normal to dry skin. This foundation comes in 50 shades with 16 shades for deep skin tones, 17 shades for medium skin tones, and 14 shades for lighter skin tones.

FENTY KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING WITH FOUNDATION!!!! Oh my sweet baby unicorns!!! This foundation is AMAZING, PERFECT, BEAUTIFUL!!! Sorry for shouting at ya but this foundation went on seamlessly, buffed in so quickly, and settled into the skin so well that up close and in person you can not tell I have foundation on at all! It’s a high medium coverage foundation with a demi matte but also demi satin finish that leaves the skin looking healthy and not flat whatsoever. Oh ya baby, this little gem will always be in my collection from this day on until it’s no longer sold! This foundation also has that same scent that the primer has but it doesn’t linger. It also sets down I would say about maybe 70% of the way so unless it’s a hot day you really don’t have to set it with powder if you don’t want to.

I grade this concealer a solid A+++ : Fenty Pro Filt’R Instant Retouch Concealer $26 for .27 fluid ounces of product. It’s billed as a creamy, long-wear, crease-proof liquid concealer with light-as-air, medium-to-full matte coverage that brightens under-eyes and conceals blemishes and redness. It comes in 50 shades with 16 shades for deep skin tones, 20 for medium skin tones, and 14 for light skin tones.

This concealer is pretty. It’s a stain finish… not matte as it’s billed as (this is why I did not grade it with 3 exclamation marks) and it’s at best a low medium coverage that can be built up to a full coverage. I used 1 swipe of the wand on the back of my hand and that was enough to conceal both under eyes, the sides of my nose (to clean up my nose contour) and around my upper lip (to add a hint of light to the face). It buffed in quickly and smoothly and did not settle into my fine lines nor did it crease or go cakey, even after I set it with powder.

I grade this cream bronzer a solid A+++!!! : Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Bronzer $32 for .22 ounces of product in the shade Teddy (cream brownzer). This cream bronzer only comes in 1 shade for contour. It’s billed as a light-as-air, non-greasy cream bronzer that effortlessly melts into skin for a natural-looking bronze or soft contour and claims to deliver a natural-looking bronze in a range of sheer, buildable shades designed for all. Easy to blend and impossible to overdo, this light-as-air, sweat- and water-resistant formula instantly melts into skin without disturbing makeup to bronze, define, or contour with its range of undertones.

This is definitely a light coverage bronzer and I love that about it! This left my skin looking freshly sun kissed without looking like makeup. It’s incredible, truly. I have a feeling I will be reaching for this bronzer more than I’ve reached for the Tarte Sea Breezy bronzer. It buffed in so effortlessly and so seamlessly that I just couldn’t stop staring at my face in the mirror whilst I finished my eye makeup.

I grade this cream blush a solid A+++ : Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush $20 for .1 ounce of product in the shade 06 Daiquiri Dip – soft coral red. This blush comes in 10 shades and is billed as a light-as-air, non-greasy cream blush that instantly melts into skin for a wash of color and natural-looking flush.

The only reason I didn’t give this cream blush 3 exclamation marks is because this one did give me the slightest of trouble when I went in with a second layer of it. There was little spots of high pigment of this blush but with a little finessing I was able to buff those spots out. It’s a beautiful blush though … leaves the skin with a health sheen and melts into the skin harmoniously. I have a feeling I will hit pan on this one soon because I don’t think I will be able to stop using it … I like it that much. I’m actually keen to try other shades in this line too.

I grade this foundation brush a solid A+++!!! : The Fenty Kabuki-Buff Foundation Brush $36 at Sephora. It’s billed as a  large, domed foundation brush that is designed to seamlessly buff and stipple Pro Filt’r foundation for fast buildable coverage.

I have used many foundation brushes in the past and really don’t care for the way they apply foundation as much as I do with a sponge, but this foundation brush made quick work of my foundation application today and also buffed the foundation in perfectly. This brush is so soft yet dense enough that foundation buffed in like a dream.

I grad this concealer brush a solid A+++!!! : The Fenty Precision Concealer Brush $26 at Sephora. It’s billed as a softly-angled concealer brush designed for applying and blending liquid, cream, and powder formulas with flawless, fingertip precision.

I have been using a brush to buff my concealer in for the better part of 2 or 3 months now and my under eyes have never looked as flawless as they did today using this concealer brush. This brush has just the right amount fluff and just the right length of bristles that it just sweeps the concealer over the skin flawlessly. This is truly an amazing little brush.

The reverse foundation method (also known as under painting foundation method):

This method felt a bit strange to do at first. I’m so use to applying my foundation first. I started to buff in my cream contour and at first it looked horrendous. the cream contour settled into my pores, it streaked across my forehead, took on a sharp look at the jaw line. I thought there was no way that this was going to turn out good. I thought at best it will look like a muddy mess. As I continued to buff the contour in I thought “Oh no, I’ve over done it … there’s too much surface covered…. I was use to taking my contour too low down on the cheek bones but being able to quickly bounce my beauty sponge over the area to tidy up … but doing this method there wasn’t a sponge with residual foundation on it to help clean up the edges of the contour so I thought there was no way of saving this look. When I finished applying the cream contour (normally you would then apply cream blush and highlighter and then buff in your foundation …. this gives a natural flushed look to the skin… I chose not to do those steps) I buffed in my foundation and that is when the magic took place. Suddenly the too low contour on my cheek bones was perfected, the too harsh contour of my jaw line was softened, the patchy and streaky look of the forehead area was finessed into a seamlessly perfected forehead, a suddenly the muddy pronounced pores around the checks and nose were blurred and perfectly contoured.

This technique is so cool to try and really did leave my face looking perfected. I’ll be doing this technique again. It really did leave my complexion looking nice … not flat like when you just apply foundation, and not too harsh like when I do my contour over the foundation…. it’s just this perfected canvas ….. I am glad I tried it out.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

Remember … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO, Nita
