Neutral Smokey Eye Face of the Day

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? I’m doing OK today. A little run down but all in all pretty OK.

Today I am wearing Gucci Bamboo ( it has top notes of Casablanca Lily & Amber Accords, middle notes of Orange Blossom & Ylang Ylang, and the scent rounds out with notes of Sandalwood, Tahitian Vanilla, and Ambergris).

For today’s look I used shadows from 3 palettes: Juvia’s Place The Chocolates Palette($14 on their website and at Ulta), Juvia’s Place The Nudes Palette ($14 on their website and at Ulta), and Too Faced Born This Way The Natural Nudes Palette ($45 at Ulta and Sephora). Well … let’s get into today’s Face of the Day ….

Forgot to blend my nose contour today YIKES

Base:

I primed my face using Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer ($32 at Sephora). Today I tried a new to me technique called reverse foundation or under painting (where you start by doing cream contour and highlight BEFORE you do your foundation) so I started with my contour using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora and on the Beautylish website) in the shade Medium/Deep. I then did my foundation using Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation ($35 at Sephora) in the shade 120 (for fair skin with neutral undertones). I bronzed up the face using Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Bronzer ($32 at Sephora) in the shade 05 Teddy (tan skin tones). I highlighted the high points of my face using the BECCA Ignite Liquified Light Highlighter ($38 for 1.5 fluid ounces of product at Ulta) in the shade Passion (pale, iridescent pearl that reflects gold). I color corrected using BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector ($32 on their website) in the shade light/medium and then concealed my under eyes using Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer ($26 at Sephora) in the shade 120 (for fair skin with neutral undertones).  I set my under eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($28 at Sephora and Ulta). I set the rest of my face using BECCA Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder ($39) in the original shade. I touched up the bronzer on my face using the BECCA Sunlit Bronzer ($38 on their website) in the shade Ipanema Sun (medium auburn brown). For touch ups I am using BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Matte Finish Pressed Powder (Originally $9.50 but on sale for $4.75 on their website) in the shade #230.

Eyes:

I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 only at Dollar General Stores) in clear and then filled in my bows using ELF Lock On Liner & Brow Cream ($4 on their website) in the shade Medium Brown.  I carved out my brows and primed my lids using the P.Louise Base ($10 GBP/ $12.79 USD on their website) in the shade #02 Rumour. For today’s eye look I used shadows from 3 palettes: Juvia’s Place The Chocolates Palette($14 on their website and at Ulta), Juvia’s Place The Nudes Palette ($14 on their website and at Ulta), and Too Faced Born This Way The Natural Nudes Palette ($45 at Ulta and Sephora). I started with the Too Faced Palette and set my brow line using the shade Swan (eggshell – matte). For my transition shade I use a combo of the shades Maple (warm caramel brown – matte) from the Too Faced Palette, the 2nd shade of the 1st row of the Nudes Palette (light beige – matte), and the 3rd shade of the 2nd row of the Nudes Palette (rich terracotta brown – matte). For the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and my crease I used a combo of the 1st shade of the 2nd row of the Chocolates Palette (warm red – matte) and the shade Cocoa (medium chocolate brown – matte) from the Too Faced Palette. I deepened the 1/2 way point of the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and the outer v of the crease using a combo of the shades Truffle (deep rich brown – matte) from the Too Faced Palette and the 1st shade of the 1st row of the Chocolates Palette (Deep Chocolate Brown – matte). I then deepened the very edges of the outer eye using the 3rd shade of the 1st row of the Chocolates Palette (grey toned brown – matte). For the remaining 2/3 of the mobile lid I first went in with the 1st shade of the 1st row of the Nudes Palette (peachy champagne with a silver flip – metallic) and then went over the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid I used the shade Sugared Chestnut (golden brown – metallic) from the Too Faced Palette. For the lower lash line I first went in with more of the shade Maple (warm caramel brown – matte). I used more of the shade 1st shade of the 2nd row of the Chocolates Palette (warm red – matte) followed by more of the 3rd shade of the 1st row of the Chocolates Palette (grey toned brown – matte) to deepen the lash line up. I highlighted the inner corners using Revolution Highlighter Reloaded ($7 on their website) in the shade Just My Type  (a deeper champagne). I lined my lower waterlines using Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner($26 at Sephora) in the shade Sunset 74 (golden bronze shimmer). I coated my lower and upper lashes using Believe Beauty Hi-Definition Skinny Mascara ($4.50 only at Dollar General Stores) and then popped on a pair of BEauty Queen lashed from Obsidian Cosmetics (no longer in business).

Cheeks and Lips:

For blush I used Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush ($20 at Sephora) in the shade 06 Daiquiri Dip (soft coral red). I set the cream blush with the lightest hint of Revolution Blusher Reloaded ($7 on their website and at Ulta) in the shade Coral Dream (a bright coral red). I touched up my highlight and highlighted the Cupid’s Bow using Revolution Highlighter Reloaded ($7 on their website) in the shade Just My Type  (a deeper champagne). I lined and filled in my lips using Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat ($22 at Sephora) in the shade Pillow Talk (nude pink) and topped the lips off with ColourPop Ultra Glossy Lip (this shade discontinued) in the shade Bestie (creamy pink).

Final Thoughts:

I totally forgot to blend the bronzer on the bridge of my nose today! Yikes! Oh well … can’t have a good makeup day every day right? I also didn’t realize that I didin’t cover my lash band with eyeliner so there’s that too.

I broke out a little on the left side of my face right in near my pores … I think I might have used a little too much Squalane oil last night so I’ll probably skip the oil for a few days so it clears up.

I’m so bummed! My favorite place to get lashes was an ETSY shop and sadly they have closed down as of Sunday so I’m gonna have to go on a hunt for new lashes elsewhere for next month.

Well, that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO, Nita
