1st Haul of August 2020 (Alter Ego)

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m having a really bad Fibromyalgia day so I’ve taken the day off from playing with makeup play, however I received the 1st of of my 7 orders for the month of August so I thought I’d do a quick Beauty Haul post….

The total for this Alter Ego order came to $83.70 (it would have been $93 but I used the discount code: ALLIE and this gave me 10% off my order…. this code is a valid discount code from YouTube creator Allie Glines.

So let’s take a look at what I purchased….

*Remember…. all swatches are done on clean, bare skin, with no primer, and in 1 pass … all pictures are taken on the left with no flash and on the right with flash*

8-PIECE EYE BRUSH COLLECTION

The 8 pc eye set runs $28 (if purchased individually all 8 brushes would cost $41 so there is a savings of $13 in purchasing the full 8 piece set). It’s billed as a curated to include all the essential brushes for recreating your favorite makeup looks. They claim that each brush is designed with a specific purpose in mind – from flawless blending to seamless smudging and that each brush is synthetic, cruelty free and vegan.

The 8 piece set includes:

#1 Blending Fluff (shading with the flat side or blending with the full tip), #2 Blending Crease (tapered crease brush to flawlessly blend colors and diffuse creases for the perfect result), #3 Large Blender (the largest of their eyeshadow brushes –  an over sized plush head perfect for applying powder or lightly blending), #4 Oval Shadow (flat, firm, oval head designed to ultimately define your eyes), #5 Small Oval Shadow (Similar to the Oval Shadow brush, the Small Oval Shadow Brush also builds pigment but features a smaller head for those intricate and trickier finer details during application), #6 Small Shadow (create depth and contrast to define and contour your eyes), #7 Pencil (pointed brush with smooth, rounded edges for transitioning shades, blending colors, and more), and #8 Smudger (a short, flat head that has been firmly rounded for seamless smudging, a necessary technique for evening out deep bursts of colors).

The TOE (or tip) of all the brushes except the pencil brush all have a round tapper to them.

The HEAD (the brush hairs) of all the brushes are duo colored …. the TOE and most of the BELLY (widest part of the brush head) of each brush has white bristles peppered throughout the brown main bristles.

The HEAL (the part that is attached to the FERRULE) of all the brushed seems to be attached firmly but not so firm that the brushes don’t have enough flexibility.

The FERRULE (the metal strip around the base of the bristles) of all hte brushes is silver and feels as if it maybe made of a sturdy aluminum with a crimped top of the FERRULE and a double crimp at the base of the FERRULE.

The HANDLE of all the brushes is made of a flat black painted plastic with the number of the brush stamped in silver at the top of the handle and Alter Ego stamped in silver and the base of the handle.

Each brush feels soft and sturdy. I’ll update you on how they apply eyeshadow in my next face of the day.
