Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. Today I have some sharp pain in the middle of my upper back area… making it difficult to sit for long periods of time so today’s look took me longer than I expected because I had to stop and rest for a bit. I guess this means no baking for me today.
I wanted to continue using the Alter Ego Artemis Palette ($22 on their website) so I could test out more shades. For today I chose Davidoff Cool Water for my perfume today: The scent notes are…. At the Top: Ozonic Notes (aquatic scents), Citrus, Pineapple, Black Currant, Honeydew Melon. Lotus Blossom, Quince, and Water Lily. Middle Notes Are: May Rose, Jasmine, and Muguet (Lily of the Valley). The Scent Is Rounded Out By: Mulberry, Sandalwood, Musk, Peach, Vetiver (a perennial bunch grass from India), Orris, and Vanilla.
Let’s go through the walk-through of today’s smokey, sultry, sunset inspired Face of the day ….
I primed my face using Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer ($32 at Sephora). I then used the MAC Strobe Cream ($35 at Ulta) in the shade Pinklite to give myself a bit of glow before foundation. I then went in with the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter ($44 at Sephora) in the shade 3 (Light/Medium – neutral peach for light to medium skin) over the high points of the face. I contoured using NYX Wonder Stick ($12 at Ulta) in the shade Deep Dark. For foundation today I am wearing BECCA Ultimate Coverage 24 Hour Foundation ($44 at Sephora) in the shade Cashmere 1N3 (neutral beige, neutral undertones). I bronzed up the face using Tarte Breezy Cream Bronzer ($29 at Sephora) in the shade Grace Bay. I highlighted the high points of my face using the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Spotlight ( rose gold with silver light). I color corrected using BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector ($32 on their website) in the shade light/medium and then concealed my under eyes using the HourGlass Vanish Airbrush Concealer ($34 for .20 fluid ounces of product on the Beautylish website, can also be found at Sephora) in the shade Creme (fair with pink undertones). I set my under eyes using the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($28 at Ulta and Sephora). I set the rest of my face using ELF Halo Glow Setting Powder ($8 on their website) in the color Light. I touched up the bronzer on my face using BECCA Sunlit Bronzer ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Ipanema Sun (medium auburn-brown). For touch ups I am using Catrice Cosmetics Prime & Fine Waterproof Mattifying Powder ($7.49 at Ulta).
I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 only at Dollar General Stores) in clear and then filled in my bows using ELF Lock On Liner & Brow Cream ($4 on their website) in the shade Medium Brown. I carved out my brows using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and then primed my lids using the P Louise Base ($13.07 on their website or at Morphe’s website ) in the shade Rumour. For today’s eye look I used 2 single shadows from ColourPop and the Alter Ego Artemis Palette ($22 on their website). I started with the Artemis Palette. I used the shade Entice (sand – smooth matte) for my transition. For my crease I used the shade Snare (warm, musky orange – matte). I then went in with the shade Bow (gloomy navy- smooth matte) and I used it from lash line to just a bit into the crease. I then used the shade Victory (azure blue – shimmer) all over the mobile lid. For my lower lash line I used the shade Trap to create a deep drop shadow Trap (soft orange – matte) and then went in the with shade Captivate (soft brown – metallic) followed by the shade Quiver (neutral brown – matte). I then went in with more of the shade Bow (gloomy navy- smooth matte) to line the lower lash line and then added a light layer of Victory (azure blue – shimmer) to lighten the lash line just a bit. I lined my lower waterlines using ColourPop Lippie Pencil (only available in the Big Box of Lippie Pencils Vault … currently out of stock) in the shade Whatchamacallit (dusty denim). I then used the ColourPop shade Hear Me Out (white peach – matte) to set my brow bone. I then ran a hint of Benefit Gimme Brow ($24 at Sephora) in the shade 4.5 (neutral deep brown) through my brows to add just a hint of definition.I highlighted the inner corners of my eyes using ColourPop shade Let Me Explain (ivory metallic). I did two coats of Mac Extended Play Gigablack Lash ($20 at Ulta and MAC) in the shade black and then lastly I popped on a pair of Alter Ego False Lashes ($5 on their website) in the style Flare.
Cheeks and Lips:
For blush today I chose Tarte Sugar Rush Beach Cheeks Blush ($15 at Ulta) in the shade Beaches & Cream (peachy pink) and then set that with a slight tap of the Makeup Revolution Blusher Reloaded ($7 on their website) in the shade Rhubarb & Custard (dusty peachy coral – matte). I touched up my highlighter on the Benefit Boxed Highlighter ($30 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Cookie (golden-pearl). I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil ($6 on their website) in the shade Another Round (rosy nude) and out a few dots of ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip (this shade is discontinued) in the shade Speed Dial (soft terracotta nude) over my lips and then topped that with HourGlass Unreal High Shine Volumizing Lip Gloss ($30 for .20 fluid ounces of product on the Beautylish website) in the shade (Coral with gold pearl and a high shine).
I finally finished my deluxe sample of the BECCA Ultimate Coverage 24 Hour Foundation. It was a pretty nice foundation and I think maybe in the future I will purchase it. For now I have plenty of foundations and want to allow for newer foundation releases for my collection so purchasing a foundation that is already on the market at this time is just counterproductive for me.
I placed a small 6 item order through Sephora that should be here by Wednesday. I repurchased the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder, I then purchased minis of the HourGlass Ambient Bronzing Powder in the shade Radiant Bronze Light, the HourGlass Ambient Lighting Blush in the shade Diffused Heat, the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer, the Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer in the shade Baked, and the Milk Makeup Lip & Cheek in the shade Perk.
I should be receiving my ColourPop Garden Variety Palette that I purchased on August 6th on Wednesday too, however the other 3 order’s that I placed with ColourPop (the ones I placed on July 31 …. a full 2 weeks ago …. have YET to be processed and now I’m starting to get annoyed. I sent ColourPop’s customer service to see what the hold up is (since I finally received a response to my first request to find out what’s going on with these orders and was told it takes 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS to process orders and it’s now been 10 days and yet these orders are still stuck in a pending status) and am currently waiting for a response.
I’ve also decided to go on a temporary no buy, preferring to shop my stash for a few months. I want to try and save some money for a little while since we have had some unexpected expenses (having 2 of my wisdom teeth removed, having to pay a $200 co-pay that I normally don’t have to pay for my RFI treatments, a tree that had to be removed from our back yard do to damage extending from a nasty little storm we had last week…. etc). So this may mean that I will be missing some of the new releases for at least the months of September, October, November, and December (unless I receive makeup for gifts for my birthday next month and for Christmas in December).
Well that’s it for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in great spirits and health.
