The Makeup Application Tag

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m doing pretty darn good today.

I came across this tag earlier this past week and saved it to do and since I’m still feeling relatively good today I figured I would hope on and give it a whirl.

This tag was done by Jan Phelps in a video titled THE MAKEUP APPLICATION TAG! 💗 Subscriber Created! 💗 which was created by a subscriber of hers called Chidoll93!.

It seemed fun so I thought I’d try it out for myself….

Question # 1: Which step takes you the longest?

My eyebrows takes me the longest to do. I am a perfectionist and have been known to completely remove my brow makeup and start over if I don’t get them as perfect as I possibly can. I have 2 different sized brows and they arch in different ways too so I take my time to try and get them to at least look like they belong to the same face.

Question #2: Which step can you apply the fastest?

Blush is the fastest thing I do. Since I only apply blush to the back end to right under the middle of my iris it doesn’t take that long to buff the blush into my cheeks.

Question #3: What is your most dreaded application step and why?

Sunscreen! I hate this step so much! 9 times out of 10 I’ve applied too much and the sunscreen begins to pill up on me.

Question #4: Which step is your favorite and why?

Eyeshadow! I love applying eyeshadow so much! I love the instant transformation you get with eyeshadow. I love the way with just the placement of the shadows you can make your eye shape look totally different and there are so many colors to choice from that the looks and combos are endless.

Question #5: Which step are you the best at?

That’s a hard one for me. I think I’m pretty good at makeup but I don’t think that I’m the best at anything really … there is always room for improvement so I don’t think I have perfected any one area of my makeup.

Question #6: Which step can you use some more practice in?

Cut crease work! I 100% believe that I need lots of practice at cut creases and I have never tried to do a full on cut crease… I typically stick to half cut creases. I may have to try a full on cut crease out the next time I’m not doing a full face of makeup to try my hand at it.

Question #7: In what order do you apply your makeup?

The order I apply my makeup is:
1. skin prep (complete with sunscreen)
2. Brows (complete with carving them out)
3. Eyeshadow (on my lids only)
4. Primers (and any glow products I may be using that day)
5. Cream contour
6. Foundation
7. Setting spray (and a beauty sponge to press the setting spray into the foundation)
8. Cream Bronzer
9. Cream Highlighter
10. Cream blush
11. Corrector and concealer
12. Setting spray on a beauty sponge to pat over my under eyes to melt the products into the under eye)
13. Under eye setting powder and face setting powder
14. Touch ups with powder bronzer, blush, and highlighter
15. Baking the sides of my nose to help contour it
16. Finishing up my eyeshadow (on my under eyes)
17. Mascara and eyeliner
18. Setting spray to set the look
19. False lashes
20. And finally lipstick.

Question #8 : Which step can you skip?

EYELINER!!! I do love a good wing every now and then a nice little wing is cute but I truly hate the process of eyeliner. I only wear it on my lower waterlines because without it my lower lash line just doesn’t look polished.

Question #9: Which step in an absolute must?

Setting spray after my foundation and concealer to melt those products into the skin better. For 1 I find that I get a smoother finish and for 2 I have noticed that the longevity of my makeup lasts so much longer than it ever has, especially in the Florida heat!

Question# 10: Any unique tools you use that nobody else uses?
