Peacock Inspired Face of the Day

This is the tray I use for my day’s makeup … and of course this is the makeup I used today.

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m feeling better today. I have a moderate amount of pain and my energy is a bit better than yesterday. My mental health is a bit delicate but I’m keeping busy to keep my mind active and engaged.

I really wanted to do a smokey, glam, colorful look today and I’ve got to tell ya I am really loving the end results of today’s makeup play.

For today’s look I used the ColourPop Through My Eyes Palette ($24 on their website).

Today’s scent is Ralph Lauren Romance. The scent notes are:

  • Top Notes: Mandarin Essence, Pink Pepper and White Violet Leaves.
  • Middle Notes: Sun Goddess Rose, Jasmine, Marigold and Geranium.
  • Base Notes: Patchouli, Oak Moss, and Musk.
  • Subtle Notes: Ginger, Chamomile, Lychee, Yellow Freesia, Lotus Flower, Night Blooming Day Lily, Violet Absolute, and Exotic Woods

And now … let’s go to the walk through of today’s Face of the Day ….

Base:

I did an extra prep step today because my skin felt a bit dehydrated so I double primed my face. I first primed using Good Molecules Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer ($14 on their website and on the Beautylish website). I primed the face using Catrice Prime and Fine Poreless Blur Primer ($8 at Ulta). I contoured the face using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora and on the Beautylish website) in the shade Medium Deep. For foundation today I am using E.L.F. Beautifully Bare Foundation Serum ($8 on their website) in the shade Fair/Light. I bronzed my face using Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer ($28 at Sephora) in the shade Baked. I color corrected using Believe Beauty Brighten Up Color Correcting Concealer ($4 only at Dollar General Stores) in the shade Light/Medium. For concealer I chose NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Concealer ($8.50 at Ulta and NYX Stores and Website) in the shade Vanilla. I set my under eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($28 at Ulta and Sephora) and then set the rest of my face using Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. I touched up the bronzer using J Cat Golden Soleil Baked Bronzer ($7.99 on their website) in the shade Cancun Tan. For touch ups I am using J Cat Aquasurance Compact Foundation ($13.99 at Ulta but currently on sale for $9.79) in the shade Natural.

Eyes:

I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 only at Dollar General Stores) in the shade Clear and then filled in my bows using Milani Stay Put Brow Color ($8.49) in the shade Dark Brown. I carved out my brows and primed my lids using Makeup Revolution Cut Crease Canvas ($9 on their website) in the shade Halo (pure white). For today’s eye look I used the ColourPop Through My Eyes Palette ($24 on their website). I started by setting my brow lines using Wet n Wild Color Icon Single Eyeshadow ($.99 at Walgreens) in the shade Sugar (icy white – shimmer). As my transition shade I used the ColourPop Single Shadow ($4 on their website) in the shade Conundrum (warm brown – matte). I then went into the palette for the rest of this look. I started with the crease and the shade Missbehave (rich wine red – matte). For my outer 1/3 of the mobile lids and the outer v of the crease I used the shade Divina (deep blackberry – matte). For the remaining 2/3 of the mobile lids I first used the shade Moody (rich forest green – matte) and then I went back over the inner 1/3 of the mobile lids with the shade Emerald Dream (vivid emerald green – metallic). I then took a slight bit of the shade Nocturne (rosy red – metallic) and tapped that over the edge between the outer 1/3 and the middle 1/3 of the mobile lids to blend away the line of delineation. For the lower lash line I first used what was left over on the transition brush to created a deep drop shadow. I then went in with more of the shade Missbehave (rich wine red – matte). I then deepened the lash lines using more of the shade Divina (deep blackberry – matte). I then took a bit more of the shade Emerald Dream (vivid emerald green – metallic) around the tear ducts. I highlighted the inner corners of my eyes using the shade Muze (bright warm gold sprinkled with silver glitter – metallic). I tight lined my upper and lower waterlines using the ColourPop Lippie Pencil (only available in the Big Box of Lippie Pencils Vault – currently out of stock) in the shade ALT (blackened teal). I coated my upper and lower lashes using L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black ($8.99 at Ulta) and popped on a pair of Alter Ego False Lashes ($5 on their website) in the style Plush.

Cheeks and Lips:

For my cheeks today I chose Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek ($28 at Sephora) in the shade Perk (coral). I set that lightly using NYX Sweet Cheeks Matte Blush ($7.50 at Ulta) in the shade Citrine Rose (coral pink). I touched up my highlighter using Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder ($44 at Sephora) in the shade Highlight #01 (golden nude). I lined and filled in my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil (only available in the Big Box of Lippie Pencils Vault – currently out of stock) in the shade Flattered (deep plum). I topped my lips off using ColourPop Lippie Stix ($7 on their website) in the shade Happy Thoughts (deep rosy mauve– matte).

Final Thoughts:

ColourPop Through My Eyes Palette ($24 on their website)

I grade this palette a tentative A+++!!! : It’s billed as endless looks with Youtuber iluvsarahii’s first ever 16-pan shadow palette, featuring 8 stunning metallics and 8 rich matte finishes, inspired by Karen’s unique perspective from her side of the beauty world.

  • The shadows are finely milled with little to no kick back in the pans and very little fallout on the face.
  • The shades I tested so far a super pigmented and buffed out with no skipping.
  • Each shade married perfectly into the others with no patchiness or muddiness.
  • 3 of the hardest shades to get right (with no pigmentation issues) are purples, reds, and deeper greens. This palette nailed all 3 of these shades!

I can’t wait to use this palette again and test out the lighter more neutral shades to see how well they perform before I give a final grade to the palette.

I truly love the way this look turned out. There is something so magical about deep purples and greens mixed together.

I did a deep conditioner on my hair today so my curls (I have a 3C curl pattern) are a bit frizzy. I think I may have to do a clarifying shampoo treatment as I haven’t done one in well over 2 years (YIKES).

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in great spirits and health.

XOXO, Nita
