Birthday Haul September 15th 2020

I got to come off my No Buy today because my Papa Bear sent me money to shop for some makeup

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. Today is my birthday!!! I am officially 47 today. I don’t have the best energy levels today so I forwent my makeup routine today. Papa bear sent me money and told me to go buy some makeup with it and so that is exactly what I did…. I had just put Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty makeup line on my wish list for next year so naturally that is what I chose to buy today!!!!

I also picked up my Sephora Birthday Gift, a 100 point perk and they gave me a free sample as well.

So let’s see what I picked up …. * Remember that, as always, all swatches are done on clean bare skin with no primer and in 1 swipe with all pictures on the left taken without flash and the ones on the right taken with flash to show true to form color*

I picked up 6 of the 15 items from the Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez line.

I also chose the Milk Makeup trio for my birthday gift, the Benefit Gimme Brow 100 point perk and the nice man at the register also gave me a free sample of the Urban Decay Eye Primer.

Always An Optimist Illuminating Primer $26 for .94 fluid ounces of product at Sephora *travel size option available*

I grade this primer a tentative A+++!!!! : This primer is billed as a weightless, silicone-free, water-based gel primer enriched with ultra-fine pearls for a lit-from-within glow that hydrates and illuminates and has a botanical blend of lotus, gardenia and white waterlily. This primer has a pump.

First Impression: It has no scent other than to say it smells clean (not really scented just fresh). It’s a very light weight serum consistency primer that is very dewy looking. It’s not sticky but there isn’t much slip to it either. It’s just a beautiful formula.

Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation $29 for 1 fluid ounce of product at Sephora

I grade this primer a tentative A+++!!!! : This foundation is billed as a weightless foundation with concentrated pigments packed in a serum-like base that feels barely there while providing buildable medium-to-full coverage with a natural finish with a botanical blend of lotus, gardenia and water lily, featuring a convenient doe foot applicator that comes in 48 shades…18 of which are for deeper skin (the one I chose is  140C – light with cool beige undertones… I wanted 130N  – light with neutral beige undertones however they were sold out both in store and on line.)

First Impression: It has no scent other than to say it smells clean (not really scented just fresh). It’s a very light weight serum consistency that is dewy and I would say low high coverage to start with…. depending on the method you use to apply it …. with a brush it will give you better coverage but with a sponge it will more than likely be high medium coverage at the start. I gave the foundation 5 minutes to settle and it did not oxidize. It did set down almost all the way with just a light tackiness to it. This is a satin finished foundation.

Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer $19 for .25 fluid ounces of product at Sephora

I grade this primer a tentative A+++!!!! : This concealer is billed as being a lightweight, hydrating concealer with cake-free, medium-to-full coverage that lasts while brightening skin with a radiant finish that is long-lasting and sweat-resistant that comes in the same 48 shades as Liquid Touch Foundation…18 of which are for deeper skin (the one I chose is 130N  – light with neutral beige undertones). This concealer has a doe foot applicator.

First Impression: It has no scent other than to say it smells clean (not really scented just fresh). This is a satin finished concealer that is light weight but has high pigment. It’s not a serum consistency like the foundation is but it’s not a thick concealer by any means. I let it set for 5 minutes to settle and it did not oxidize. It did set down almost all the way without a tacky feeling to it. It did not settle into the fine lines of my hand so I am hopeful that it wont settle into the fine lines of my eyes too.

Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight $22 for .5 fluid ounces of product at Sephora

I grade this primer a tentative A+++!!!! : This liquid highlighter is billed as being a silky, second-skin liquid highlighter that creates a lasting, soft, and luminous finish that is packed with light-reflecting pearl particles and a botanical blend of lotus, gardenia, and white waterlily that is a multidimensional formula that lends skin a dewy glow in seconds and can be mixed with foundation or layered across the high points of the face for instant radiance. It comes in 8 sades and I chose the shade Mesmerize – rose bronze (Selena’s go-to shade). This highlighter has a doe foot applicator.

First Impression: It has no scent other than to say it smells clean (not really scented just fresh). It has a serum based consistency that did not set down all the way but did set down and still maintain it’s glow with a light dusting of powder. It did not have glitter in it however there is a glow from mica so when I wiped it off it did leave behind a small amount of glow particles behind. so if you are someone that uses makeup removing wipes you may have to also cleans the face with soap and water after removing your makeup.

Soft Pinch Liquid Blush $20 for .25 fluid ounces of product at Sephora

I grade this primer a tentative A+++!!!! : This liquid blush is billed as a weightless, long-lasting liquid blush that blends and builds beautifully for a soft, healthy flush and is infused with long-lasting pigments that last all day. It comes in 8 shades and 2 finishes (matte and dewy) and I chose the shade Happy (cool pink in the dewy finish). I wanted either the shade Joy (muted peach – in the dewy finish) or Bliss (nude pink – in the matte finish) but both were sold out in store and I didn’t want to place an order on line just for 1 product so I chose the cool pink shade instead. This blush has a doe foot applicator.

First Impression: It has no scent other than to say it smells clean (not really scented just fresh). It is extremely pigmented…. I truly mean EXTREMELY pigmented. I used just a tap of the doe foot applicator and that covered the entire hand with enough product left over that I could have swatched it on my other hand as well. It’s a serum like consistency that has a satin finish to it. It’s a very health glow looking finish that is stunning on the back of my hand. It did sit for 5 minutes and did set down a little but you will need to seal this blush with a powder for longevity. This one does leave a slight tint behind so it’s best to remove this one with coconut oil or makeup remover.

Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick $20 for .13 fluid ounces of product at Sephora

I grade this primer a tentative A+++!!!! : This lipstick is billed as a weightless air-whipped lip cream that hugs lips with rich color and nourishing hydration that gives a soft velvety matte finish that glides on for full-on color and a featherweight feel that stays comfortable all day with no drying or caking. Made with a botanical blend of lotus, gardenia, and white waterlily, plus Vitamin E and smooths out lips with a soft blurring effect. It comes in 12 shades (I chose the shade Energize – bright coral).

First Impression: There is a very faint sweet scent to this lip product. It’s a mousse like consistency that has high pigment but blends in to be almost stain like. It’s extremely comfortable (I tested it on my lips for comfort level), didn’t sink into the lines of my lips and didn’t feather or bleed over the lip lines. This one does leave a slight tint behind so it’s best to remove this one with coconut oil or makeup remover. I tried drinking and eating with this one on and it does transfer to the rim of the cup and did not last through eating a big soft pretzel with mustard. So this may be one that you will need to reapply throughout the day. But it’s so comfortable and pigmented that I don’t mind needing to do so.

Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek $15 for the .21 ounce mini sized version at Sephora *I received this one for free as part of the trio box Birthday Gift*

I grade this cream lip/blush stick a solid A+++!!!! : This product is billed as being a two-in-one cream blush and lip color formulated with hydrating ingredients for a buildable, blendable tint. It comes in 8 shades (for this gift I received it in the shade Werk – dusty rose and I already have the shade Perk – coral).

My Review: I’ve already used this product in the shade Perk so I know how well this product does. It lasts all day (as long as it’s set with powder) and gives a sweet little wash of color to the cheeks. It has a grapefruit scent that does dissipate but is strong enough to notice for a few minutes on the cheeks. It is just as the description says… it’s a buildable tint. I’ve never tried it on my lips but I do love this on my cheeks. I am going to get through the 2 shades I have and then purchase the full sized of Perk (coral being my favorite blush shade of life).

Milk Makeup KUSH High Volumizing Mascara $12 for the .13 ounce mini sized version at Sephora

I haven’t tried this out yet since I didn’t do my makeup today. I will test this one out tomorrow.

This mascara is billed as a high-volume mascara formulated with heart-shaped fibers (that lock onto lashes in each direction for long-lasting fullness, filling the hollow fibers for added volume), conditioning plant-derived oil, and pure pigments for an intense black finish.

Benefit Gimme Mini Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel $14 for mini sized version at Sephora

This was what I picked up as my 100 point perk. I picked it up in the shade 3 – neutral light brown. I have used the shade 4.5 – neutral deep brown for the past 4 to 5 months now so I know I love this product.

It’s billed as a  brow-volumizing tinted gel with tiny microfibers that adhere to skin and brow hairs, creating natural-looking brow volume. This product is an Allure Best of Beauty award winner.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original

This was just a sample size and I’ve never tried it before. It’s billed as an award-winning nude eyeshadow primer that ensures vibrant, crease-free wear for up to 24 hours that keeps eyeshadow crease-free, color vibrant, and application smooth and is formulated with polymer technology.

First Impression: It’s tacky but colorless … that’s an odd thing to me. I don’t know how I’m going to like this primer … I typically like my eyeshadow primers to mute out the color and veins of my mobile lids … so I may test this out when I’m just doing a natural no makeup look but I don’t see me purchasing the full size of this product.

XOXO, Nita
