Smokey Berry Valentine’s Day Look # 3 Face of the Day

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I over slept today and didn’t think I would have time to do a makeup look for the blog today because I had a sink full of dishes from last night and I wanted to make sure to do them before I had to cook dinner … well, hubby shooed me out of the kitchen and did the dishes so that I could make my deadline for this post. I feel so blessed to have him. When I’m having a bad spoonie or mental health day he is always right there with arms open wide to be there for me, he supports my need to purchase new make to review, he is my biggest cheerleader and he always has a hug and kiss on standby when I’m having a bad day or when I get into a creative slump…. He is am amazing human!

For dinner I made oven breaded Tilapia, homemade mash potatoes and Garlic Parmesan Spinach

For today’s look I used 2 of my new Natasha Denona palettes.

Eyes:

For my eye look today I used the Natasha Denona Cranberry Palette ($48 for 5 pans with .08 ounces of product each pan … making it $9.50 each shade at Sephora and on the Beautylish website) and Mini Sunset Palette ($25 for 5 palettes with .02 ounces of product each pan … making it $5 eash shade at Sephora and on the Beautylish website).

I started with my brows… I used the E.L.F. Ultra Precise Brow Pencil ($5 for .002 ounces of product at Ulta) in the shade Dark Brown and then primed my lids using P. Louise Base (£10/$13.70 USD for .5 ounces of product on their website and also on the Morphe website) in the shade Rumour.  I set my brow line down using Wet n Wild Color Icon Single Shadow ($0.99 at Walgreens) in the shade Sugar (icy white – shimmer). I started with the Mini palette. For my transition I chose the shade Guava (dirty peach – matte). I then switched to the Cranberry palette. I used the shade Sakura (vintage burgundy – matte) from lash line all the way through the crease. I then deepened my outer v of the crease and the very outer part of the outer 1/3 of my mobile lids using a combo of Sakura (vintage burgundy – matte) and Blossom (deep cherry – matte). I then went in with just Blossom (deep cherry – matte) to deepen the outer c of the crease more.  I used NYX Glitter Glue ($6.50 for .33 ounces of product at Ulta) to clean up the inner 2/3 of my mobile lid. For the middle 1/3 of my mobile lids I switched back to the Mini palette and I chose the shade Apollo (bright brick – metallic). I then switch back to the Cranberry palette. For the inner 1/3 of my mobile lids I used the shade Daisy (light-pink watermelon – metallic). For the lower lash line I created a shallow drop shadow using more of the shade Guava (dirty peach – matte) from the Mini palette. I then laid down Sakura (vintage burgundy – matte) from the Cranberry palette. I then deepened the lash line using more of the shade Blossom (deep cherry – matte) and then used whatever was left on the brush from the first shade to buff all the colors together. I highlighted the inner corners of my eyes using the shade Nude (pink champagne – metallic). I lined my lower waterlines using the ColourPop BFF Crème Gel Liner ($7 for .007 ounces of product on their website but the shade is currently out of stock) in the shade Joy Ride (deepened burgundy). I created a mid-sized wing using the ColourPop Liquid Liner ($8 for .019 ounces of product on their website but this shade is currently sold out) in the shade Wine Not (deep merlot). I used 1 coat of MAC Extended Play Gigablack Lash Mascara ($21 for .19 ounces of product) and popped on a pair of Kiss Natural Effect Lashes ($11.99 for a 5 pack) in the style Shy.

Cheeks and Lips:

On my cheeks I used Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Soft Pinch Liquid Blush ($20 for .25 ounces of product at Sephora) in the shade Happy  (dewy cool pink). I then set the cheeks using Makeup Revolution Blusher Reloaded ($7 for .26 ounces of product at Ulta) in the shade Rose Kiss (mid-toned rose – matte). I touched up my bronzer MAC Bronzing Powder ($30 for .35 ounces of product at MAC) in the shade Matte Bronze. For the highest points on my cheeks, temples and chin I used Juvia’s Place The Tribe Highlighter Vol. 3 (champagne) ($15 for .31 ounces of product at Ulta) . I lined my lips using NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 for .03 ounces of product at Ulta) in the shade Tea & Cookies (mid toned milky rose) and then filled my lips in using Sailor Moon x ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip ($9 for .02 ounces of product on their website) in the shade Bun Head (sheer rosey pink). I topped the whole lid off with a light layer of NARS Lip Gloss ($24 for .18 ounces of product at Sephora) in the shade Dolce Vita (sheer dusty rose). I set my face using Pixi Skintreats Makeup Fixing Mist ($15 at Ulta for 2.7 ounces of product) in the scent Rose Water and Green Tea.

Final Thoughts:

I really do have to re-dye my hair … those greys are slowly creeping back😋.

Wine Not? BFF Liquid Line $8 on their website but currently sold out

I give this liner a tentative B- :

Wine Not? is a deep merlot felt tip liquid liner and is billed as an ultra-fine felt tip liquid eyeliner that delivers intense pigmentation in one easy swipe.

I really wanted to love this liner the shade is so pretty. The swatch I did when I haul it was beautiful and pigmented and smooth however on the eyes it’s a freaking nightmare! It doesn’t go on as pigmented at all… I have to go over my wings several times and each time it just seamed to lift pigment up… it was streaky and after it dried it looked dry and crumbly. Now with that said… I am using deep shades on my eyes today so I’m sure that the liner didn’t show up as well as it would with a lighter shade on the lids. For that reason I have not given this liner a solid grade yet… I want to test my theory out first.

Natasha Denona Mini Sunset Palette $25 for 5 pans making it $5 a shade on the Beautylish website and at Sephora

I give the Mini Sunset palette a solid A+++!!! :

 The Mini Sunset palette is billed as warm hues of a summer sunset with this take-anywhere mini palette.

I only used 2 of the 5 shades but damn can Natasha Denona turn out quality product!! The matte was silky smooth and played well with the other palette I used and the metallic was creamy and foil like and just a joy to use. There was some kick back in the pans and no fall out on the face … her shadows are finely milled. I just loved the color story of this palette.

Natasha Denona Cranberry Palette $48 for 5 pans making it $9.60 a shade on the Beautylish website and at Sephora

I give the Cranberry palette a solid A+++!!! :

The Cranberry palette is billed as ultra-pigmented shadows with matte and glitter finishes that delivers four brand new shadows and one shade from her limited edition Holiday 2017 Aeris Palette.

Oh this palette is such happiness!! The pink metallic shade is STUNNING in person. The mattes are buttery and the metallics are almost liquid like. These mattes blended with the other palette seamlessly and buffed out with no patchiness. There was a ton of kick back in the pans but that is because her shadow formula is so finely milled and there was a ton of fall out on my face – I don’t mind fall out really since I do my eyes before my foundation and I use the makeup artist trick of using my primer to remove the fallout I don’t have to go back over my undereyes with more skin care before moving on to my base. This palette just screams Spring.

Sailor Moon x ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip in the shade Bun Head (sheer rosey pink) the last lippie on the left and the last swatch on the right. $9 for .11 ounces of product on their website.

I give Bun Head a solid A+++ :

Bun Head is billed as a soft, diffused just-blotted look with medium coverage liquid lipstick dries matte, doesn’t budge, and feels soft and comfy on the lips.

I truly do like this lippie however the Blotted Lip formula tend to be a little fiddly since it goes on “blotted” – it’s semi-opaque so natural lip shows through … that frustrated me so I threw lip gloss over it in a deeper shade and that made it work. This lippie isn’t as drying as the one I used yesterday… strange because they have the same formula. At any rate I do love this lippie I just can’t grade it higher since it is so fiddly.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in great spirits and health.

XOXO, Nita
