Soft Elegant Face of the Day

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m having a pretty darn good day. I’m having an unusually low pain level day (I’m at a level 3 for the first time in 4 years), I have so much energy today (was even able to shower and still had enough energy to do my hair and makeup and I had therapy today and got to talk about the panic attacks and how the new medication is working out for me. Since taking the Ativan I’ve only had 1 panic attack (when we went food shopping Saturday there was way too many people in the store and it triggered a panic attack), we talked about life goals and my family life and home life. She thinks I should try a therapy technique called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which she believe may help my PTSD, I’m a bit leery of it because there are just somethings that have happened in my past that I just am not ready to deal with or talk about because they are too horrible and too painful to even think about let alone talk about. She, however, assured my that we wouldn’t be going deep into conversations about those topics, it’s just away for me to be able to deal with those things…. I promised to give it a really hard think and at our next session in 2 weeks we will revisit the topic.

It’s been almost a full month since I’ve done a Face of the Day… It’s good to be back and blogging about a topic that just makes me happy… makeup.

So let’s jump into today’s walk through of my Face of the Day….

Toadys scent is:

Burberry Brit ($85 for 1.7 fluid ounces of product at Ulta), it came out in 2003 and is a very feminine scent that is great for date night or anytime you just want that hint of elegance.

The scent notes are:

  • Top Notes: Green Almond, Italian Lime, Pear, Lemongrass
  • Heart Notes: White Peony, Candied Almond, Sugar
  • Base Notes: Vanilla, Amber, Tonka Bean, Mahogany

Eyes:

I first set my brows with ColourPop Brow Boss Gel ($7 on their website) in the shade Clear. I did my brows using the Urban Decay Brow Blade ($26 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Dark Drapes (dark brown). I shaped the brow line and concealed my eyelids using Makeup Revolution Prime & Lock Longwear Eyeshadow Primer ($9 at Ulta). For today’s eye look I used the Fenty Beauty Snap Shadow Mix & Match Eyeshadow Palette ($25 for 2.1 total ounces of product, making each shade 0.35 ounces and $4.16 per shade on their website) in the color stories #1 True Neutrals and #3 Deep Neutrals. I started by setting the brown line and also my full eye lid using the shade  Nookie Rookie (creamy bone matte) from the #1 palette. For my transition shade I used the shade Nudy Booty (creamy taupe – matte) from the #3 palette. for my crease color I used the shade Cumin Get It (terra cotta brown – matte) from palette #1. Do deepen the outer v of the crease I used the shade Affogato (grey toned deep brown – matte) from palette #1. I then went in with a bit of NYX Glitter Primer($6.50 at Ulta). I then went in over the middle 3rd of the mobile lids with the shade Heaven Cent (rose gold coral – shimmer) from the #3 palette. I then went in with the shade Simma Down (pale pink – shimmer) from palette #1 over the inner 3rd of the mobile lids. I created a small drop shadow with more of the shade Cumin Get It (terra cotta brown – matte) from palette #1 and then deepened the lash line using the shade Shots Fired (plum brown – matte). I then highlighted the inner corners of the eyes using a combo of the shades Simma Down (pale pink – shimmer) and Velvet Cuffs (light golden champagne – shimmer) from the #1 palette. I lined my lower water lines using the ColourPop BFF Gel Liner ($7 on their website ) in the shade Red Rock (burnt terracotta). I created small winged liner on the upper lash line using Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner ($22 at Ulta) in Intense Black (jet black). I used 1 coat of Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara ($11.49 at Ulta) in the shade Very Black. I then popped on a pair of KoKo Lashes ($3.99 on the Lady Moss Website) in the style 201.

Base:

I primed my face using SmashBox Photo Finish Primerizer($42 at Ulta and Sephora) and primed my pores using Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta and Sephora). I contoured using Fenty Beauty by Rhianna Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Bronzer ($32 at Sephora) in the shade Amber 01 (contour shade). I highlighted the high point of my face using Fenty Beauty By Rihanna Match Stick Shimmer Skinstick ($25 for 0.25 ounces of product on their website) in the shade Star Struck (iced out pearl). For foundation today I used the SmashBox Halo Healthy Glow Tinted Moisturizer ($36 at Ulta) in the shade Fair Light (fair light with neutral undertones). I color corrected my under eyes using Flower Beauty Chill Out Smoothing Color Corrector ($10 for 0.16 ounces of product on their website) in the shade Light Peach (for fair skin). I then used 1 dot for each under eye of BECCA Ultimate Coverage Longwear Concealer ($29 at Sephora) in the shade Linen ( lightest beige with neutral undertones). I bronzed my face using Milk Makeup Flex Foundation ($36 for 0.35 of product on their website) in the shade Rich (very deep with neutral undertones). I set my under eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($28 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade #1. I set the rest of my face (after I put blush on… more of that in Cheeks and Lips) using Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder ($32 at Sephora) in the shade Butter (for fair to medium skin tones).

Cheeks and Lips:

For blush I used Urban Decay Stay Naked Face and Lip Tint ($26 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Streak (bright warm coral). I touched up my bronzer using HourGlass Ambient Lighting Bronzer ($52 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Radiant Bronze Light (for medium/deep complexions). I touched up my Highlighter using Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo ($36 at Sephora) in the shades Mean Money (soft champagne sheen) and Hustla Baby (supercharged peachy champagne shimmer). I touched up my blush just a tad using Tarte Amazonian Clay 24 Hour Blush ($29 this shade only on their website – limited edition) in the shade B-day Bae (dusty coral). I lined my lips using NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta) in the shade Tea & Cookies (muted coral pink) and then filled in my lips using SmashBox Always On Liquid Lipstick ($24 at Ulta) in the shade Baja Bound (coral pink). I set my full face using Pixi Skintreats Makeup Fixing Mist ($15 at Ulta for 2.7 ounces of product) in the scent Rose Water and Green Tea.

Final Thoughts:

Makeup Revolution Prime and Lock Eye Primer $9 for 0.2 fluid ounces of product at Ulta.

This primer is billed as creating the ultimate base for eyeshadow looks that are going nowhere (until you say so)! This lightweight creamy formula with a hint of light beige tint, creates a super smooth and even-toned canvas. Use as a base under powder or cream eyeshadows to help the pigments pop and prevent creasing and fade. This is the only shade for this primer and it doesn’t have a name.

I give this primer a solid B- : As I said in my first impressions of the haul this product was included in… it is a very thin formula. It’s also not really a primer with color… it’s a very mute skin shade that just went on patchy and was hard to blend out. It’s just an OK primer…. worked well with blending shadows but I did notice that it tended to pucker around the brow line where I added a nude shade to set down the primer on the brow line. I’ll finish using this one but it’s a hard pass at repurchasing it.

SmashBox Photo Finish Primerizer Moisturizing Primer $15 for .50 fluid ounces (travel size) and $42 for 1 fluid ounce of product at Sephora

This primer is billed as a face primer and moisturizer in one that delivers up to 24 hours of hydration and preps skin for makeup with the lightest-possible texture.

I give this primer a solid A+++!!! : I had originally purchased the travel sized bottle because I just wanted to test it to see if it was the same as my Good Molecules Silicone Free Priming Moisturizers that is $14 for 1.7 fluid ounces of product on the Beautylish website and on the Good Molecules website. It’s not the same but it is amazing! It’s hydrating and my foundation went on over it seamlessly. It felt like silk on the face. I really do like it and I will definitely purchase the full sized when I’ve used up the travel size bottle.

Fenty CHEEKS OUT FREESTYLE CREAM BRONZER $32 for 0.22 ounces of product on their website.

This creamy contour is billed as light-as-air, non-greasy cream bronzer that effortlessly melts into skin for a natural-looking bronze or soft contour—in 7 no-fuss shades for all skin tones and I already have the shade Teddy (Tan Skin Tones) so I purchased the contour shade called Amber (contour with cool under tones for fair skin tones).

I give this cream contour a solid A+ : The contour shade is just as creamy as the cream bronzers in this same line however the contour shade has an undertone of grey that sort of just left my face looking ashy… I would have preferred it to be a hint deep in shade because I like my contour shades to have a richer hue to them. It worked for what I needed it for but I just didn’t like the way my contour came out with this one. It’s good for lighter skin tones than me, in the fair category

but for light to medium shades it’s a pass.

Milk Makeup FLEX FOUNDATION STICK $36 for 0.35 ounces of product on their website.

This foundation stick is billed as a medium coverage, natural finish foundation. It claims that it covers, calms, and flexes with buildable formula can take on anything you’ve got. Stick format glides on for quick, mess-free application, infused with blue lotus to moisturize and chamomile to help calm redness and soothe skin and seamlessly becomes one with your skin without creasing or caking thanks to elastic marshmallow root extract (the ingredient that gives the candy its squishy abilities). It comes in 36 shades (9 shades for fair, light, medium and deep tones). I purchased 2 shades this one is called Rich (Very Deep with Neutral Undertones) and I purchased it to be my contour shade.

I give this stick foundation a solid A+++!!! : In my first impression I said it was drier than the the shade I purchased as foundation… That actually is not the case. Instead of rubbing it directly on my skin I used a duo fiber brush to apply it and the finish was perfection. It was the perfect shade for bronzer melted into my foundation seamlessly and remained vibrant even after powdering.

Fenty MATCH STIX SHIMMER SKINSTICK $25 for 0.25 ounces of product on their website.

This highlighter is billed as a magnetized makeup stick in a longwear, light-as-air shimmer formula to highlight, blush, and enhance in 15 colorful shades that let you play. I purchased the shade Star Struck (iced out pearl). I also just purchased the contour stick, a bronzer stick, 3 blush sticks and a foundation stick (I think it’s so cool that they are magnetized, perfect for trips.

I grade this stick highlighter a solid A+++!!! : This cream highlighter is beautiful! It’s creamy, it’s ethereal, it’s got just the right amount of glow to wear on low maintenance days but enough pigmentation for full on beat face days. I liked this one so much that I purchased the foundation, bronzer, a blush and 2 highlighters in the same line.

Flower Beauty CHILL OUT SMOOTHING COLOR CORRECTOR $10 for 0.16 ounces of product on their website.

This corrector is billed as a peach-toned color corrector that instantly neutralizes and conceals dark circles under eyes. Your under-eye area will appear brighter and illuminated, while the nourishing vegan and gluten-free formula is infused with hemp-derived CBD to hydrate and smooth delicate skin for the perfect concealer base. Treated pigments provide a soft-focus effect, while Vitamin E and jojoba extract provide antioxidants and moisturizing benefits. It comes in 3 shades and I have it in the shade Light Peach.

*This one does come with a warning*

WARNING: Please consult a physician prior to using if pregnant or breastfeeding. For external use only. Keep out of reach of children.

I grade this corrector a 100% A+++!!! : When I found out that BECCA was going out of business in September 2021 I was heart broken because they sell my all time favorite color corrector. This color corrector is a spot on dupe in shade, texture, and longevity. I’ve had my makeup on for 12 hours now and my under eyes are still perfect. Just like the BECCA one, this one can be wore alone with no concealer over it because the shade is just perfectly brightening without being in your face peach.

BECCA ultimate coverage longwear concealer $29 for 0.21 fluid ounces of product on their website.

This concealer is billed as a water-resistant, full coverage concealer that instantly camouflages under eye dark circles, blemishes and discoloration while smoothing the skin’s texture. It comes in 16 shades (8 for deep skin, 4 for medium skin, and 5 for light skin) I have the shade Linen (lightest beige with neutral undertones) . It claims to be blurring and nourishing.

I give this concealer a solid A+++!!! I am so going to miss BECCA when they close down. They just make the perfect complexion products!!! This concealer is gorgeous! I used 1 dot for each under eye and patted it in with my finger and then bounces a sponge over that. It lightened the eye area giving more brightness to the area. It did not crack or crease or ware off the whole day.

SmashBox Halo Healthy Glow Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 25 $36 for 1.4 fluid ounces at Sephora.

This tinted moisturizer is billed as an all-in-one, SPF primer-infused tinted moisturizer with lightweight, natural-looking dewy coverage that hydrates skin for up to 24 hours. It has rose extract, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, goji berries, gold, and peptides. The breathable, vegan, and oil-free formula moisturizes, conditions, and protects and comes in 12 shades 4 for light 4 for medium and 4 deep skin tones. I purchased Fair/Light (fair light with neutral undertones).

I grade this tinted moisturizer a solid A+++!!! : If I could give this one a high grade I totally would! It is FANTASITC!!! It’s dewy and glowy and looks like skin. It’s comfortable and so lightweight that I don’t even feel it. I did have some wear off around the nose but that might be because my nose was itchy today and I kept rubbing it.

Urban Decay Multitasking Face + Lip Tint $26 for 0.14 ounces of product at Sephora.

This cream blush/lip hybrid is billed as a moisturizing face and lip tint that creates buildable, sheer color that stays put for a healthy-looking flush and a hydrated, glowy finish, a creamy lip and cheek tint infused with kombucha filtrate and marula oil for a hydrating, dewy finish. This long-lasting, vegan formula adds a buildable, sheer wash of color to cheekbones and can be built up on lips for a moisturizing, glossy lip look. The shades can be mixed, matched, and played with. It comes in 5 shades plus clear and I purchased the shade Streak (Coral).

I give this cream blush a solid A++ : This is a very creamy blush that is super pretty on the skin. I just couldn’t grade it higher because it almost disappears once you apply powder. It was extremely subtle once I powdered which is fine because I like to combine cream blush with powder blush for longevity. On days where I don’t powder this will definitely be my go to blush though it gives a dewiness to the checks that just plumps those cheeks right up.

Urban Decay Brow Blade Waterproof Eyebrow Pencil & Ink Stain $26 for 0.0018 for the pencil side and 0.01 ounce of product for the marker side at Sephora.

This product is billed as a double-ended ink stain and waterproof brow pencil that gives eyebrows the definition and precision of microblading without the commitment, the creamy, waterproof pencil to shape, shade, and fill in sparse areas. The ink stain’s brush tip mimics precise, hair-like strokes to add depth and dimension. Create flawless, defined brow looks without the permanence of microblading. This pencil comes in 9 shades and I purchased it in the shade Dark Drapes (dark brown).

I grade this brow pencil a tentative A- : The ink pen side did not really give much color pay off it was super subtle and the pencil side kept disappearing as I continued applying my makeup. Now that could be because I set my brows before I fill in my brows. So I will try it again tomorrow without setting my brows first to see if this makes a difference.

ColourPop Brow Boss Gel $7 for 0.11ounces of product on their website.

This brow gel is billed as a conditioning, comfy, non-crunchy formula that has a hold that lasts all day and it comes in 5 shades of which I purchased clear (goes on white but dries down to clear). It’s worth stating that this product is not available in Germany.

I grade this brow gel a solid A+++!!! : This is an amazing brow gel. I got fluffy brows (the only time I can get my brows to be fluffy when I use soap to hold them in place). The brows stayed in place all day and are not crunchy at all.

ColourPop BFF Crème Gel Liner $7 for 0.01 of product on their website.

It’s billed as the same pigmentation and long-lasting, transfer-proof wear of our Crème Gel Colour Eyeliner in a pencil! It claims that color glides on smoothly for comfortable application in the waterline. creamy formula makes blending super easy and formula dries down for long-lasting wear. I purchased the shade Red Rock (burnt terracotta).

I give this eyeliner a solid A+++!!! : This shade is super pretty on the lower waterlines! It makes my brown eyes really pop… bring out the subtle caramel due in my eyes. It lasted all day and didn’t travel outside the waterlines.

Fenty PRO FILT’R INSTANT RETOUCH SETTING POWDER $32 for 0.98 ounces of product on their website.

This setting powder is billed as a superfine, weightless loose setting powder curated in 8 sheer shades to perfect and extend makeup wear for that filtered, photo-ready finish on lock. I chose the shade Butter (for fair to medium skin tones).

I grade this powder a solid A+++!! : I didn’t grade this the highest of A+++!!! because I did have to touch up around the sides of my nose and balls of my cheeks a few times today and typically I do not have to touch up at all. Now, that could be any combo of this… maybe the setting spray or the fact that I had 3 moisturizing products on, or it could have just simply been that, since I was baking today, I got a little sweaty. Other than that it’s a beautiful setting powder… blurs, perfects, and leaves the skin looking like velvet. I didn’t need very much.

Fenty KILLAWATT FREESTYLE HIGHLIGHTER $36 for 0.24 ounces of product on their website.

This highlighter is billed as weightless, longwear cream-powder hybrid highlighters that range from subtle dayglow to insanely supercharged in solos and expertly paired duos. This duos comes in 5 shades and I purchased it in the shade MEAN MONEY / HU$TLA BABY (soft champagne sheen and supercharged peachy champagne shimmer). It also comes in 4 single pan shades.

I give this highlighter duo a solid A+++!!! : I am in love with this freaking highlighter!!! It is so pretty on the cheeks and much more present than it was in the swatch on the haul blog. Darn Fenty can do no wrong!

Fenty Beauty SNAP SHADOWS MIX & MATCH EYESHADOW PALETTE $25 for 2.1 total ounces of product each on their website.

These palettes are billed as a game-changing portable mini eyeshadow palette of 6 rich, blendable shades in a range of matte to shimmer finishes: Use ’em solo or snap together any two palettes to double your collection while keeping it perfectly compact—that’s 12 of your fave shades, all in the palm of your hand. It claims that Rihanna specifically chose each shade to deliver only the colors you’ll actually want to use. There are 7 color stories with 2 extra color stories for a limited time (secret…I just placed an order for the 2 limited time color stories). The 2 color stories that I purchased were #1 True Neutrals and #3 Deep Neutrals.

I grade both of these eyeshadow palettes a solid A+++!!! : OH these little babies are so beautiful! Creamy mattes and buttery shimmers. The 2 of them match so well. I have since placed an order for the 2 limited edition shades. Solid pigment through the whole day.

SmashBox Always On Longwear Matte Liquid Lipstick $24 for 0.13 fluid ounces of product at Sephora.

This liquid lipstick is billed as a waterproof, liquid-matte lipstick that is infused with a primer oil complex for a comfortable, non-drying, and weightless and saturates lips with bold color in a velvety-matte finish. It is infused with primer oil complex, a blend of jojoba, apricot, and sunflower oils, that keep lips comfortable. The precision-tip applicator lines and fills lips in one swipe, and it won‘t feather, bleed, or cake and comes in 27 shades, this one is in Baja Bound (pink coral).

I grade this lippie a solid A+++!!! : FINALLY!!! A liquid matte lipstick that is comfortable, non drying and doesn’t do that weird crumbling off that most matte liquid lippies do. It lasted 4 hours (with eating, drinking coffee, smoking (yes I know I really do need to quit but with my panic and anxiety disorders it’s hard to quit). It wore off gracefully and without having that weird streaking that some liquid mattes do. I really need to purchase more shades.

Well that’s all dolls. Thanks for hanging out with me today. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in great spirits and health.

Remember…. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.
