Teal Smokey Eye Face of the Day

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m doing OK today. I feel a bit wiped out because it was hair washing day…. I’m learning to trust the curly girl hair journey but it does take a lot of work on wash day.

I couldn’t wait to dive into the L.A.Girl Good Times And Tan Lines 16 Color Eyeshadow Palette ($15.99 for 35 g/ 1.23 oz of total product, making it $0.99 a shade at Ulta)!!! So I chose it as my main palette for this week.

Today’s Scent Is:

Michael Kors Sexy Blossom, first launched in 2016.

Top Notes: Lychee, Rose and Dewy Leaves

Heart Notes: Pink Orchid, Peony, Lily of the Valley and Freesia

Base Notes: Ambroxan (a naturally-occurring terpenoid that is found within ambergris ( a solid, waxy, flammable substance of a dull grey or blackish colour produced in the digestive system of sperm whales) and is believed to be the component that gives ambergris its unique and distinct odor), Musk and Sandalwood.

My thoughts on this scent: I love this fruity, musky elegant scent. It’s a fun Spring/Summer scent that always reminds me of hanging out at Disney Springs for some reason.

Let’s get into today’s walk through of this beautiful teal statement….

Eyes and Brows:

Today I used my Uoma Beauty Brow-Fro Baby Hair Precision Brow Pencil ($22 for 0.06 g/ 0.002 ounces on the Beautylish website and at Ulta) in the shade 6. I then carved out my brow line and prepped my eye lids using Juvia’s Place I Prep, I Prime Eye Primer ($12 for 12 mL/ 0.41 oz at Ulta) in the shade 1. For today’s look I used the L.A.Girl Good Times And Tan Lines 16 Color Eyeshadow Palette ($15.99 for 35 g/ 1.23 oz of total product, making it $0.99 a shade at Ulta). I started by setting my brow line with the shade SPF(vanilla beige – matte). As my transition shade I used the color Sandals (soft coral – matte). I then deepened the coral of the transition at the crease line with the shade Heat (bright red based coral – matte). For the outer v of the crease and the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid I used the shade Tropi-cool (mid-toned red based brown – matte). For the middle 1/3 of my mobile lid I used the shade OG Maui (deep teal with a turquoise flip – metallic) and for the inner 1/3 of the mobile lid I used the shade Poolside (sea green – metallic). I then went over the very outer part of the outer v of the crease with a mix of Tropi-cool (mid-toned red based brown – matte) and a black shadow from my ColourPop single pan palette I put together to add a hint of smokiness. For the lower lash line I created drop shadow with the shade  Bikini (dusty mauve based coral – matte) and then took a combo of the shade shades Tropi-cool (mid-toned red based brown – matte) and Tan Lines (tan – matte) and then took whatever was left on the pencil brush I used to smoke out the outer v of the crease and deepened the outer 1/2 of the lash line. I lined my lower waterlines with LA Girl Shockwave Eyeliner ($4.49 1.18 mL/ 0.04 oz at Ulta) in the shade Dragon (a black based emerald green).

Complexion:

I primed my face using Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primer Illuminating ($39 for 1.7 fluid ounces of product at Ulta and Sephora). For my cream contour I used Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Stick ($25 for 0.35 oz at Ulta) in the shade Mink (contour toasted almond). I bronzed the perimeter of my face using Huda Beauty Tantour Contour & Bronzer Cream ($30 for 0.42 ounces of product at Sephora) in the shade Light ( fair to light with cool undertones). My cream blush today is Rare Beauty by Selina Gomez Stay Vulnerable Melting Cream Blush ($21 for 0.17 ounces of product at Sephora) in the shade Nearly Apricot (muted coral) and for my cream highlight I used Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s Up! Champagne Cream Highlighter ($30 for 9.76 mL/ 0.33 oz at Ulta). For foundation I used Laura Mercier Flawless Lumière Radiance-Perfecting Foundation ($48 for 1 fluid ounce of product at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade 2N1 Cashew (light with neutral undertones). I color corrected my under eyes using Flower Beauty CHILL OUT SMOOTHING COLOR CORRECTOR ($10 for 0.16 ounces of product on their website) in the shade Light Peach and then concealed my under eyes with just a dot of Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer ($29 for 0.23 fluid ounces of product at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade N1 (fair with neutral undertones).

Cheeks, Lips, Lashes and Touch Ups:

I set my under eyes using BECCA under eye brightening setting powder $25 for 0.09 oz of product on their website but currently sold out) and I set the rest of my face using Fenty PRO FILT’R INSTANT RETOUCH SETTING POWDER ($32 for 0.98 ounces of product on their website) in the shade Butter (FOR FAIR TO MEDIUM SKIN TONES). I touched up my blush using Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush ($29 for 0.2 oz at Ulta) in the shade Natural Beauty (matte rosy red), my bronzer using Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer ($30 for 0.32 oz at Ulta… mine is the limited edition big pan) in the shade Park Avenue Princess and my highlighter using L.A.Girl Strobe Lite Strobing Powder ($7.99 for 0.19 oz at Ulta) in the shade 90 Watt. I highlighted the corners of my eyes using a combo of the shades Seashells (Icy white with a slight yellow shift – metallic) and  Glowin’ (pale coral with a peach flip – metallic). I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil in the shade Love Bug () and topped the lips off with NARS AUDACIOUS LIPSTICK ($34 for 4.2 g/ 0.14 oz on their website and at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Juliette (pink coral) and then tapped a bit of clear gloss over the top.  I popped on a pair of KoKo Lashes ($7.99 on the Lady Moss website) in the style Chloe and coated my lashes in 1 coat of Beauty Bakerie Eyelash Icing ($18 for 0.34 oz of product on their website). I set my face using ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Acid Setting Mist ($12 for 3.72 oz/ 110 mL at Ulta). For face touch-ups I chose to use LA Girl Pro Face Matte Pressed Powder ($6.99 for 0.25 oz of product at Ulta) in the shade Creamy Natural.

Final Thoughts:

L.A.Girl Good Times And Tan Lines 16 Color Eyeshadow Palette ($15.99 for 35 g/ 1.23 oz of total product, making it $0.99 a shade at Ulta) is billed as a limited-edition Hey Hey Vacay Eyeshadow Palettes from L.A. Girl. Each soft, pigmented shadow gives major vacay vibes in the Under The Palm 16 Color Eyeshadow Palette.

I give this palette a solid A+++!!!! : Yesterday I said this palette was heaven and damn if I wasn’t spot on!!! This palette is so buttery and blended like a dream. None of the metallics flaked on the face the way they did when I swatched them. The shades didn’t get muddy and even worked well with a single shadow that I added to the outer part of the outer v of the crease. I knew I was going to love this palette but I didn’t know it would become my hands down favorite palette of the year so far.

LA Girl Shockwave Eyeliner ($4.49 1.18 mL/ 0.04 oz at Ulta) in the color Dragon (a black based emerald green) is billed as full-coverage, bold neon & metallic finishes. Get up to 16-hour wear and sharpen after use.

I give this eyeliner a solid A+++!!! : This lines was so creamy and so pigmented and did not budge all day.

Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primer Illuminating ($39 for 1.7 fluid ounces of product at Ulta and Sephora) is billed as a water-based primer with light-reflecting pearls that enhance skin’s natural luminosity and extend the wear of makeup. The silicone-free, breathable formula seals in skincare and creates a protective barrier that extends makeup wear. Packed with skin-loving ingredients, the primer not only protects skin but is also good for skin. The Illuminating Primer visibly creates a glow from within. A blend of Micronized Pearls reflects natural luminosity while Porcelain Flower Extracts promote long term radiance.

I give this primer a solid A+++!! : This is a really pretty primer. I didn’t give it the full top grade because I did have to use more of it than I do with other primers but it’s super pretty on the skin.

Laura Mercier Flawless Lumière Radiance-Perfecting Foundation ($48 for 1 fluid ounce of product at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade 2N1 Cashew (light with neutral undertones) is billed as a luminous liquid foundation with 15 hours of hydration and weightless medium to full coverage with a perfectly glowing finish that looks luminous in any light that has Immediate glow & improved natural luminosity within 1 week and has vitamin C to boost the skin’s luminosity, revealing brighter, clearer and more even toned skin over time – so even without makeup, your skin is naturally luminous. I give this foundation a solid A+++!!! : Oh man do I love this foundation. It’s pretty and glowy and even when I rubbed my nose (allergies) it did not budge.

Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer ($29 for 0.23 fluid ounces of product at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade N1 (fair with neutral undertones) is billed as a medium to full coverage, weightless concealer that perfects, hydrates and blurs, with 12 hours of crease-resistant wear with coverage that wont crease and flexes with skin to seamlessly conceal under eye darkness and facial imperfections. All-day hydration creates a crease-resistant, natural finish. It claims to be incredibly lightweight formula feels undetectable on skin, while the Blurring Powder Blend diffuses light to smooth the look of fine lines and create a soft-focus effect.

I give this concealer a tentative A++ : This is a nice concealer, it was just a little patchy on the left eye (now that could be because I used more skin care than I should have today so I’ll have to test it out tomorrow again without as much skin care.

Rare Beauty by Selina Gomez Stay Vulnerable Melting Cream Blush ($21 for 0.17 ounces of product at Sephora) in the shade Nearly Apricot (muted coral) is billed as a breakthrough, mistake-proof, liquid-like cream blush that melts into a second skin for the most natural-looking wash of soft-focus color. The first-of-its-kind water-resistant blush combines pigments with a non-greasy blend of weightless oils and spherical powders for a natural flush you can’t mess up. The ultralightweight, liquid-like cream melts on contact and blends to a smooth, satin finish that won’t cake, crease, or clog pores. It comes in 5 shades.

I give this cream blush a solid B+ : I though it was a pretty blush but it wasn’t as creamy as I thought it would be and I had to layer it up 3 times to get optimal color payoff. It was disrupted the foundation underneath and so I had to touch up the foundation around that area and then I just tapped the blush in to get it to work.

NARS AUDACIOUS LIPSTICK ($34 for 4.2 g/ 0.14 oz on their website and at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Juliette (pink coral) is billed as LIPSTICK SO SHAMELESSLY SEDUCTIVE IN TOUCH AND TEXTURE THE SENSATION IS AUDACIOUS. GLIDES ON LIKE SATIN WITH SINGLE-STROKE COVERAGE IN A SPECTRUM OF SHADES (29 shades to be exact.)

I give this lipstick a solid A+++!!! : I knew I was going to love this lipstick!!! Hands down my new favorite summer lippie.

Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s Up! Champagne Cream Highlighter ($30 for 9.76 mL/ 0.33 oz at Ulta) is billed as a delicate champagne glow that’s gorgeous. With a cream-to-powder finish…it’s a switch on “wow” for all complexions. You’ll adore the smooth applicator & luminous sheen.

I give this cream highlighter a solid B- : While the shade and glow were pretty this took some work getting payoff with it. It goes on drier than it swatched and it almost all but disappeared once I set my face. I had to apply more and then go in with powder highlighter for a better glow.

Well that’s all for today dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in great spirits and health.

Don’t forget to save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO, Nita
