TikTok Inspired Face of the Day

Hey doll hey!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m doing good. I’ve been working on the pattern for the formal dress I’m going to wear to my niece’s wedding in October. It’s a 1950’s Vintage dress that is super adorable.

Today’s look is inspired by this look from Micaela LA Davis on TikTok. She did this stunning eye look inspired by the wet halo look that Kim Kardashian wore to the Met Gala. I don’t have those exact shades so I improvised a bit but I so love this look so much that I think this may be the look I wear for our vow renewal in January.

Today’s Scent:

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream ($60 for 1 fl oz, $86 for 1.7 fl oz and $108 for 3.4 fl oz at Ulta) was released in 2014 and is a sweet musky floral.

Top Notes: Blackberry, Grapefruit, Pear.

Heart Notes: Lychee, Jasmine, Blue Wisteria.

Base Notes: Musk, White Woods and Coconut Water.

My thoughts on this scent: This has to be one of my top 5 scents. I’ve repurchased it 2 times already and am about to repurchase it again. It’s a great flirty little scent that definitely gets noticed. It’s a great scent for the office (it isn’t overwhelming) and can take you from day to night with ease.

On to the walk-through for today’s Face of the Day….

Eyes and Brows:

I started with my brows. I used the Huda #BombBrows Microshade Brow Pencil – shade Dark Brown (black hair with warm undertones) ($17 for 0.0008 oz/ 0.023 g of brow pencil on their website and at Sephora). I carved out the brow line using Huda The Overachiever Concealer – shade marshmallow 02B (fair with beige and peach undertones) ($30 for 0.34 oz/ 10 ml of concealer on their website and at Sephora). I primed the rest of my eye lids using P.LOUISE BASE SHADE 2 ($15 for 0.50 fl oz / 15 ml of shadow base on their website). For today’s eye look I used the Huda Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette $65 (on sale for $39 on their website). I started by setting my lids with the shade Desert Sand (warm light peach – matte). For my transition I used the shade Eden (medium salmon peach – matte). I then created a thick wing on the outside 1/3 of my mobile lid using the shade Blazing (medium bright pumpkin orange – matte). I also tapped that same shade over the inner 1/3 of the mobile lid buffing it up a tiny bit into the crease. I then combined the shades Musk (medium taupe – matte) and Saffron (dusty mid toned red – matte) and tapped that over the inner 1/2 of both the outer 1/3 and inner 1/3 of the eye. I took a big fluffy brush and buffed the edges of the whole eye. I took a bit more of the P.LOUISE BASE SHADE 2 ($15 for 0.50 fl oz / 15 ml of shadow base on their website) to brighten the middle 1/3 of the lids and then tapped the shade Nefertiti (mid toned aged gold – metallic) over the top. I then took the residual shadow from the brushes I used and blended the outer edges of the middle 1/3 of the lids. For the lower lash line I used the a combination of the shades Eden (medium salmon peach – matte) and Amber (a red based medium brown – matte) and created a soft drop shadow. I tight lined both the upper and lower waterlines using the Sephora Collection 12 Hour Contour Pencil Eyeliner ($11 for 0.04 oz/ 1.2 g of product at Sephora) in the shade 14 Cocoa (shimmer warm brown).

Complexion:

I primed my face using BECCA Backlight Priming Filter Face Primer ($39 for 1 oz/ 30 mL of primer at Sephora). I contoured my face using NYX Wonder Stick – shade Deep ($12 for 0.26 oz /8.28 ml of total product at Ulta). I color corrected my under eyes using Flower Beauty Chill Out Smoothing Color Corrector ($10.29 for 0.16 oz at Ulta) in the shade Light Peach. I highlighted the high points of my face using Huda N.Y.M.P.H. Not. Your. Mama’s. Panty. Hose. – shade Luna (soft, white-gold shimmer with hints of rose gold and silver) ($49 for 1.85 oz / 55mL of liquid highlighter on their website and at Sephora). I bronzed using Huda Tantour Contour & Bronzer Cream – shade Tan (tan to deep with cool undertones) ($30 for 0.42 oz/ 12g of cream bronzer on their website and at Sephora). My foundation today is Huda #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation– shade Shortbread 200B (light skin with pinky-beige undertones) ($40 for 1.18 oz/ 35 ml of foundation on their website and at Sephora). I concealed my under eyes using Fenty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer – shade 120 – (for fair skin w/ neutral undertones) ($26 for 0.27 oz/ 8 mL of concealer at Sephora).

Cheeks, Lips, Lashes and Touch Ups:

My cream blush today is Milani Cheek Kiss Cream Blush ($8.99 for 0.21 oz / 6.21 ml of cream blush at Ulta) – shade Coral Crush (pink). I set my under eyes using BECCA Under Eye brightening Powder (no longer in production). I set the rest of my face using  Huda Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder – shade Cupcake (fair to light skin tones. pink undertones brighten and disguise under-eye darkness) ($34 for 0.71 oz/ 20 g of loose powder on their website and at Sephora). I touched up my bronzer using Hourglass Mini Ambient Lighting Bronzer – shade Diffused Bronze Light (cool bronze shade fused with Diffused Light to mimic a ray of warm sunlight ideal for light/medium complexions) ($26 for 0.04 oz/ 1.3 g of bronzer at Sephora) and touched up my highlighter using the BH Cosmetics Glowing in Greece ($17 but on sale for 6.80 for 16 g/ .57 oz of highlighter on their website) using the shade Athens (peachy champagne). I lined my lips with NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta) in the shade Whipped Caviar (muted plum) and topped my lips off with Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick ($8.49 for 0.15 oz at Ulta) in the shade Pink in the Afternoon (the shade created for Audrey Hepburn). I coated my lashes with MAC Extended Play Gigablack Lash Mascara ($21 for 0.19 oz / 3.11 ml at Ulta) and then popped on a pair of KoKo Lashes Marilyn ($7.99 on the Lady Moss website)  and then set my face with ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Acid Setting Mist ($12 for 3.72 oz/ 110 mL at Ulta) to set my face. For touch ups I am using Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder – shade Creamy Natural (0.49 oz for $3.17 at Walmart).

Final Thoughts:

This halo eye is so darn pretty! I have plans to do this same eye look for my wedding vow renewal in January. It was quick and yet super elegant. I will choose a different pair of lashes though. I keep trying to make this style work but it’s just not a good lash for my eye shape.

Huda Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette ($65 but on sale for $39 for on their website) is billed as a dynamic eyeshadow palette with 18 shades in four unique textures.

I give this palette a solid A+++!!! and my undying loyalty! : This palette is heaven!! The shadows have the same finely milled buttery smooth formula and I had the same great experience with this palette that made me fall in love with with the Naughty Nude palette. The only thing that would have put this palette over the edge would have been a basic black shadow… but that’s not a deal breaker for me when the formula of a shadow is this damn good.

Huda #BOMBBROWS Microshade Brow Pencil ($17 for 0.023 G/ 0.0008 OZ on their website and at Sephora) is billed as an ultra-fine 0.9mm tip, retractable brow pencil that precisely defines, shapes and fills your brows using tiny hair-like strokes that give a microblade-worthy effects to create brows that look on point, literally.

It comes in 8 shades (I have the shade Black Brown #7 – For black hair with warm undertones).

It claims to be a pigmented, super smooth brow pencil that is infused with a creamy blend of vitamin E, castor oil and coconut oil to create soft, hair-like strokes for effortless building and blending. With a durable spoolie at one end, it diffuses pigments perfectly so you can build and customize your look.

I give this brow pencil a solid A+++ : I remember my first impression of this product being afraid of the tip braking because it’s so tiny and that it was really a hard formula. Well I have to say this is a great pencil!!! It went on like a dream and I didn’t have to touch up at the end of my makeup application. I really like this pencil and do think I will repurchase in the furture.

Milani Cheek Kiss Cream Blush $8.99 at Ulta for .21 ounces of product.

This cream blush is billed as sheer joy that blends seamlessly for a natural, flushed-from-within glow. Lightweight, buildable and never greasy, this multitasking cheek and lip balm-to-gel cream formula melts onto skin for an always luminous wash of color. Infused with skin-loving Pomegranate, Watermelon & Rose extracts plus antioxidants Vitamin A, C & E to hydrate and brighten. Spherical Powders blur imperfections to enhance the appearance of skin. It comes in 4 shades and I purchased the shade Coral Crush (pink).

I give this cream blush a solid A++ : The shade is beautiful but the application was a hair bit fiddley for me. With that said, I was able to apply a bit more after I powdered my face without any problem. I just kept having trouble getting the product to stick since I applied my highlighter before I did my blush today. I will try it again tomorrow and do my blush first to see if that corrects the issue.

Clean 10 Cleansing Balm ($14.95 for 85 g / 3.0 oz of product on their website) is billed as a unique oil-based cleanser curated for all skin types to effortlessly dissolve makeup,  developed to remove even waterproof makeup and perform multiple tasks.

They claim that this cleansing balm only has 10 ingredients but heavily depends on their star ingredient, Japanese Barley Magic. This particular ingredient is a source of vitamins and antioxidants in order to help regulate the skin’s melanin production. This includes brightening the skin’s complexion and reducing dark spots. The implemented technology deeply cleanses skin without stripping natural oils.

I give this cleansing balm an solid A+++!!! and a standing ovation!!!! : I purchased this because I saw it all over TikTok and I have to say this is my favorite thing I tried!!! It’s perfect. It’s a balm that turns into oil and removed every shred of makeup I had on my face… It even got the residual lash glue off my lashes with no trouble at all. It’s smells amazing just like a lemon icy. I was a little apprehensive at first because it does turn into an oil and I thought surely some would be left on my face after I washed it with face wash. It’s a balm that turns into an oil and then you just add a bit of water to your face and it turns into a milky first cleanse. After I rinsed it off there wasn’t anything left on my face and after I used my face wash my face felt more hydrated than it did when I hadn’t used the balm. 10/10 highly recommend this as a first cleanse.

Well dolls… that’s it for today’s TikTok inspired look. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in great spirits and health.
