Low Maintenance Makeup Face of the Day

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’ve had the whole day to let my tears out and I’m felling a little better. (To understand my sadness please read I Miss You Abuelita).

Today’s look was selected my the Tiny Decisions app that I downloaded from the Google PlayStore, it’s the app that I use to select my makeup for the week. I used items from my shop my stash box for this week… This look is a quick, put together look where the thing that took the lonest was my brows. (My brows have always taken me a long time😜….

Today’s scent is:

Liz Claiborne Bora Bora Exotic ($40.76 for 3.4 fl oz / 100.55 mL at Walmart) was release in 2007 and is a spicy sweet floral.

Top Notes: Blackberry

Heart Notes: Orchid and Rose

Base Notes: Violet

What I think about this scent: This is a really flirty scent that is great for spring/summer. It’s a great little date night perfume.

Annnnnd… on to the walkthrough for today’s Face of the Day….

Eyes and Brows:

I set my brows using got2b glued styling spiking hair glue by Schwarzkopf ($14.91 for 3, 6 oz tubes on Amazon, it’s also sold at most drug and big box stores). I brushed the gel through my brows and used the handle of my spoolie brush to flatten my brows out and once they dried I feathered my brows with L.A. Girl Brow Pomade ($5.99 for 0.27 oz / 7.65 g of product at Ulta) in the shade Dark Brown. I carved out my brows and primed the lids using P.Louise Base ($13.88, £10 for 0.504 fl oz / 15 mL on their website) in the shade Rumour 05. For today’s eye look I used the Nabla Secret Palette ($39 for 0.46 oz / 13.1 g of total product at Ulta making it 0.036 oz / 0.873 g and $2.6 per shade). I started by setting my brow line with Snowcap (soft cream – matte) from the BH Cosmetics Smitten in Switzerland 16 Pan Palette ($17 but on sale for $6.80 for 0.56 oz / 16 g of total product at Ulta making it 0.035 oz / 1 g and $1.06 per shade and $0.43 per shade on sale). For my transition I used the shade Ghibli (salted caramel – super matte). For my crease and the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid I used the shade Mea Culpa (deep warm brown – super matte). I then combined Mea Culpa (deep warm brown – super matte) with Nablack (deep black – velvet) and buffed that into the outer v of the crease. I then took the shade Contigo (mid tone rosy-beige – super matte) and did the 50/50 method where I placed the brush 1/2 on the transition shade and 1/2 on the brow line so that I could soften the transition line a bit. For the lower lash line I created a soft drop shadow using the residual product on the brushes I used for the transition and the crease. I then took more P.Louise Base ($13.88, £10 for 0.504 fl oz / 15 mL on their website) in the shade Rumour 05 and laid that over the inner 2/3 of the mobile lids and then patted some NYX Long Lasting Glitter Primer ($6.50 for 0.33 oz / 9.36 g of product at Ulta) over that. I then took the shade Hypersensual (trichrome w/ apricot, amber e orchid reflects – diamond) and tapped that over the inner 2/3 of the mobile lid. I highlighted the inner corners of my eyes with a combo of the shades Play Hard (aqua green duochrome w/ lime and jade reflects – crystal) and I Promise (light pink champagne – satin). I tight lines the upper and lower waterlines using Sephora Collection 12 Hour Contour Pencil Eyeliner ($11 for 0.04 oz / 1.2 g of product at Sephora) in the shade 14 Cocoa (chocolate brown).

Complexion:

On low maintenance days I skip contouring, color correcting, cream highlight and lashes. I primed my face using ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Primer ($12 for 1 fl oz / 30 mL of product at Ulta). For foundation I chose Flower Beauty Light Illusion Liquid Foundation ($14.29 for 1 fl oz / 30 mL of product at Ulta) in the shade Natural Beige. I concealed my under eyes using Uoma Stay Woke Luminous Brightening Concealer ($25 for 0.17 fl oz / 5.03 mL of product at Ulta) in the shade White Peral T1 (for very fair skin).

Cheeks, Lips, Lashes and Touch Ups:

For blush I chose Multiple ($39 for 0.50 oz / 14 g of product on their website) in the shade Portofino (Shimmering Coral). I set my under eyes using BECCA Under Eye Brightening Setting Powder (on longer available as company is going out of business) and the rest of my face using bareMinerals Illuminating Mineral Veil Finishing Powder ($27 for 0.3 oz / 8.5 g of product at Ulta). I touched up my bronzer using MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Face Powder ($37 for 0.35 oz 9.92 g of product at Ulta) in the shade Give Me Sun (light summer peach tan). I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil (shade no longer available on their website) in the shade Oh Sis (terracotta) and then filled in my lips using BECCA Ultimate Lipstick Love (no longer available as the company is going out of business) in the shade Blaze (bright coral). Since I wasn’t wearing falsies I chose to prime my lashes with Loreal Voluminous Lash Primer ($8.99 for 0.24 oz / 6.80 g of product at Ulta) and then applied 2 coats of ColourPop BFF Mascara ($9 for 0.24 oz / 6.80 g of product at Ulta) in the shade Black on Black. I set my face using ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Acid Setting Mist ($12 for 3.72 oz of product at Ulta). For touch ups I am using Milani Conceal + Perfect Shine-Proof Powder ($10.99 for 0.43 oz / 12.3 g of product on their website) in the shade 02 Nude .

Final Thoughts:

Typically my low maintenance days my shadow is a tad lighter and more ethereal, I think it turned out this smokey because my makeup tends to reflect my moods… since I’m deeply sad today I think my shadow reflects that. It’s still a nice makeup look but I was really going for something a bit mroe day time appropriate.

Nabla Secret Palette ($39 for 0.46 oz / 13.1 g of total product at Ulta making it 0.036 oz / 0.873 g and $2.6 per shade) is billed as  a treasure chest of wonders, enclosing in itself the real magic and mystery of glam, for the most magnetic, sophisticated and daring looks

I give this eyeshadow palette a solid A+ : The color story is pretty and the shadows are easy to work with but there was a crap ton of kick back in the pans, which typically doesn’t bother me, but there was so much kick back that I ended up having to deep clean my makeup vanity. The shades worked well together, that is all except the black shade… that one went on fine, fully pigmented and buffed in great, but it didn’t blend into the other shades well… it was patchy. When this happens I simply use a cotton bud that I’ve fluffed out and dipped in the color that is going patchy and I just swirl it into the area that is patchy. The shade Hypersensual (trichrome w/ apricot, amber e orchid reflects – diamond) was also incredibly flaky… I mean I got it everywhere… including my carpet. Since this palette was a bit troublesome, even though I truly do love the palette, I can’t give it a grade higher than A+.

bareMinerals Illuminating Mineral Veil Finishing Powder ($27 for 0.3 oz / 8.5 g of product at Ulta) is billed as a pearly, ethereal glow that reflects light for a photo-fabulous look. And like bareMinerals original Mineral Veil, it’s the flawless finishing touch to any makeup routine.

I give this setting powder a solid D- : I am not sure if I ever reviewed this product, but even if I did my feelings for this product have changed. I truly despise this powder! As you can see in the swatch about it has glitter in it. Yes I know my feeling about glitter are changing but even with that I don’t want it all over my face, my pants, the floor… I looked like a disco ball. I ended up having to layer a bit of RCMA No Color Powder over the center part of my face to tone down the sparkle. I’m keeping the power in rotation for this week… but I think if I haven’t finished it by then I will declutter it from my collection. It’s sad really because I like the powder itself I just don’t like the glitter in it… I think I’ll purchase the original Mineral Veil Powder to replace this one.

Well that’s all dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in great spirits and health.

🥄 Remember, save a spoon for a bit of lipstick 🥄
