August 2021 Haul #3 – BH Cosmetics

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope.

I placed a small BH Cosmetics order that I just got so I’m hauling it for you….

the 5 items I purchased from BH Cosmetics website.

*As always… All products listed I purchased myself, all links provided are purely for convenience purposes to help you find the product quickly and are in no way affiliate links. The swatches are done on clean bare skin with no primer and are done in 1 swipe, pictures to the left/top are taking without flash and the right/bottom with flash*

Now.. on to the haul, swatches and first impressions….

1. BH Cosmetics Amore in Amalfi 16 Pan Palette – Travel Series ($17 for 0.56 oz / 16 g of total product on their website making it 0.035 oz / 1 g and $1.06 per shade) is billed as a breathtaking, vegan array of silky smooth mattes and lustrous shimmers in bronze and gold hues, rich browns and sunset neutrals. Each shade offers high-impact payoff and buildable intensity that will stay put through crystal blue beaches and charming cliffside villas.

There are 7 shimmer/metallics and 9 matte shadows in this palette.

First Impressions: This palette has the same formula, pigmentation and blendability as the other 8 eyeshadow palettes in this series. I love the color story of this palette, it’s just a standard neutral palette and still I do not have anything like it in my collection.

The shades from left to right are: Monte Faito (soft tan – matte), Atrani (deep bronze – metallic), Villa Rufolo (mid toned bronze – matte), Maiori (mid toned chocolate brown), Salerno (soft coral pink – matte), Praiano (copper – metallic), La Dolce Vita (deep blush – matte) and Ravello (mid toned soft coral pink – matte).

The shades from left to right: Positano (light yellow gold – metallic), Sorrento (deep gold – metallic), Nerano (soft peach – matte), Ciao Bella (mid toned orange based terracotta – matte), Cetara (pale champagne – metallic), Capri (orange based gold – metallic), Amalfitana (yellow based tan – matte) and Grotto (bright gold – matte).

2. Poolside Chic 12 Piece Brush Set (retails for $29 but is 50% off right now making it $14.50 on their website) is billed as the essence of summer glam, a versatile collection of face and eye brushes that buff, blend and luminate your features to perfection. This set also came with a travel makeup bag.

This set has 4 face brushes and 8 eye brushes.

Each brush in this set has:

A thick white plastic handle with the company’s name and brush number etched into it.

A teal aluminum ferrule with a double crimp at the base of the ferrule and a single crimp at the heel of the brush.

A flattened heel (base of the bristles).

An oval head (total length of the bristles).

A beige belly (the mid way part of the bristles).

A due toned toe (the tip of the bristles).

First Impressions: The bristles are super soft, the girth of the bristles is perfectly set so that the brushes are not too flimsy and not too stiff.

The individual brushes in this set are:

#1 is the Large Powder Brush – it’s good for setting the face with powder, for dusting off the bake or for buffing the edges of contour, bronzer or blush.

#7 is the Flat Shader Brush – it’s great for mobile lid work, for cutting a large crease, for patting in spot concealer and for applying glitter over large areas.

#8 is the Tapered Blending Brush – It’s great for upper crease and transition work. It’s also a good brush to use if you just want a subtle wash of color over the mobile lid.

#9 is the Crease Blending Brush – it’s great for detailed crease work and for packing on color in a concentrated area. I’ve also used this style brush to add a hint of blush to the bridge of the nose and to add a hint of highlighter to the chin and nose.

#10 is the Flat Smudge Brush – it’s great for smudging out liner pencil, for cream contour work on the nose and lips, for packing pigment on the inner corners of the eyes, and for packing lighter shades over the middle 1/3 of the eye for a smokey halo eye.

#11 is the Pencil Brush – it’s great for outer v work, for deepening up the crease and for lower lash line work. I’ve also used this style brush to create a blown out liner look on the upper lash line.

#12 is the Angled Brow and Spoolie Brush – This one is self explanatory but I’ve also use this style of brush to apply gel liner to the lash line, to clean up around my lips when I’m using red lipsticks and the spoolie side for removing smeared mascara.

#3 is the Flat Shader Brush – it’s great for mobile lid work, for cutting a large crease, for patting in spot concealer and for applying glitter over large areas.

#4 is the Fluffy Shader Brush – it’s great for outer v work, for buffing out the crease, buffing the lower lash line to create a blown out look, and I’ve used this style of brush to buff in my concealer on my under eyes.

Each brush in this set has:

A thick cream plastic handle with the company’s name etched into it.

A faded gold aluminum ferrule with a double crimp at the base of the ferrule and a no crimp at the heel of the brush.

A flattened heel (base of the bristles).

An oval head (total length of the bristles).

A beige belly (the mid way part of the bristles).

The individual brushes in this set are:

#3 is the Highlighter Brush – it’s also good as setting the under eyes, dusting off the bake, for a quick nose contour, to apply glitter in targeted areas of the face, I’ve even used this style of brush to add sparkle to my lips.

#4 is the Eye Buffing Brush – quickly buff shadow over the whole lid, it’s also good for targeted blend outs. I’ve also used this type of brush to target the highest points of the face for extra glow.

#5 is the Eye Blending Brush – it’s for blending shades together but you can also dust glitter over the lids for a light ethereal glow, over the lips for a pop of sparkle and I’ve even used this style of brush to dust extra glitter over my freshly painted nails.

#6 is the Eye Liner Brush – great for cream liner but also great to help start a cut crease and to add glitter to the outer edge of a cut crease.

#7 is the Eye Shader Brush – good for packing on color on the mobile lids but also for packing on pigments to a targeted area, to apply glitter glue or eye primers and this is my preferred style of brush to cut my brow line and do cut creases.

5. BH Cosmetics Amore in Amalfi 7 Piece Brush Set ($18 on their website) is billed as create breathtaking eye masterpieces with Amore in Amalfi, an essential collection of vegan brushes inspired by the Italian coast. With gradient metalized handles fashioned after blood orange sunsets and ultra-soft two-tone synthetic bristles, you’ll be able to pack on color, define and blend like a beachside breeze.

I am not going to bother talking about this set… I am very displeased with the quality of this set! From the cheap kid’s makeup feel of the handles, to the poorly attached funerals, to the bizarre duo chrome look to the handles, oh and let’s not forget to mention how flimsy the bristles in this set are. BH Cosmetics really missed the boat on this one… I can’t understand how this set made it passed production. SOLID F!

These are the 2 travel makeup bags that came with the brush sets…

And with that this haul, swatches and first impressions is done.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in great spirits and health.
