Health Update

Hey doll hey!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m doing pretty good today.

I just wanted to update you on what’s been going on with my health and the reason that I have had several days where I haven’t posted…

This is a Fibromyalgia and Ra update…

First a few months ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease, that is a moderate decline in kidney function and my levels were at 58, meaning that I was super close to being at stage 4  severe decline in kidney function. My nephrologist took me off all of my medications to try and help my kidneys heal some.

I also have Hashimoto’s disease, it’s a condition where my immune system attacks my thyroid. When this happens that can lead the thyroid to attack my kidneys… which in this case because I had forgotten that I am on Levothyroxine (300 mcg 1 time a day) for this condition… I had stopped taking it completely.

Along with this I was also on 2 medications that can hurt the kidneys, Gabapentin (800 mg 3 times a day) for my Fibromyalgia and Metformin (850 mg 2 times a day) for my PCOS.

2 weeks ago I had a follow up with my nephrologist and found out my kidneys are healing and I am at stage 2 (mild decline in kidney function).

So I called my primary doctor and set up blood work for 1 month from yesterday and am happy to say I am back on the other mediations which has helped tremendously.

I have appointments set up for both my RA and my Fibromyalgia doctors to sit down and come up with a better treatment plan so that I can come off the Gabapentin all together to give my kidneys their best chance to completely heal.

I just started taking my Ativan so for the past 2 days I have been extremely zonked out. It will take at least a week for me to adjust to it but for now I just have to deal with the nodding off out of no where and the staring off into space and the forgetting what I went into a room for or the forgetting I was cooking… I’ve learned how to deal with them all except the nodding off part. I set my phone alarm to remind me I’m cooking, I try to concentrate on one thing in the room so that I don’t stare off into space for long and I will text myself when I have to go and get something or do something in another room so I don’t forget what I was doing.

I found that for today at least as long as I was busy doing something I didn’t have any of those symptoms so I keep giving myself tasks to do to keep myself together.

My pain levels have been around 4 for the past 2 days and I’m able to sleep better too.

And with that this post is done, I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in great spirits and health.
