Smokey Halo Eye Face of the Day

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m having a pretty crummy day. I’m in a world of hurt with seriously high pain levels today, it started 1/2 way through my makeup so I pushed myself to get through the makeup application. I now also have no energy left.

Today I used 4 shades from the ColourPop Grandeur Palette (no longer available), 2 shades from the Juvia’s Place The Blushed Rose 6 Pan Palette ($14 for 0.47 oz/ 13.2 g of total product on their website making it 0.078 oz /2.2 g and $2.33 per shade) and 2 shades from the Juvia’s Place The Magic Mini 16 Pan Palette ($20 for 0.84 oz / 24 g of total product on their website making 0.053 oz / 1.5 g and $1.88 per shade).

Today’s scent is…

YSL Mon Paris ($76 for 1 fl oz / 30 mL, $102 for 1.6 fl oz / 47 mL and $128 for 3.04 fl oz / 90 mL, it is also offered in a 0.34 oz/ 10 mL roller ball for $30 at Sephora) and is a warm and spicy musk scent with notes of:

Top Notes: Raspberry, Pear, Orange, Calabrian Bergamot, Strawberry and Calone.

Heart Notes: Jasmine Sambac, Chinese Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Peony and Datura.

Base Notes: Moss, Cedar, Indonesian Patchouli Leaf, Patchouli, White Musk, Ambroxan and Vanilla.

Now, on to the walkthrough for today’s Face of the Day….

Eyes and Brows:

I set my brows using I set my brows using got2b glued styling spiking hair glue by Schwarzkopf ($14.91 for 3, 6 oz tubes on Amazon, it’s also sold at most drug and big box stores) and the Makeup Revolution Soap Styler Brow Brush ($6 on their website) . I brushed the gel through my brows and used the handle of my spoolie brush to flatten my brows out and once they dried I outlined and then filled in the tails of my brows using Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade ($21 for 0.14 oz/ 4 g of product at Ulta) in the shade Ebony (black hair with warm undertones). I carved out my brows and primer my kids using P.Louise Eye Base ($14 for 0.504 fl oz / 15 mL of product on their website) in the shade Rumour 0.5 (very light skin). For today’s eye look I used the ColourPop Grandeur Palette (no longer available), I’ll refer to it as CPG, the Juvia’s Place The Blushed Rose 6 Pan Palette ($14 for 0.47 oz/ 13.2 g of total product on their website making it 0.078 oz /2.2 g and $2.33 per shade), I refer to it as JPBR and the Juvia’s Place The Magic Mini 16 Pan Palette ($20 for 0.84 oz / 24 g of total product on their website making 0.053 oz / 1.5 g and $1.88 per shade), I refer to it as JPMM. I first laid a base on the inner and outer 1/3 of the full lid (lash to brow line) using P.Louise Eye Base ($14 for 0.504 fl oz / 15 mL of product on their website) in the shade Rumour 0.5 (very light skin). I started with the JPMM palette and the shade Kesi (latte – matte) to set my brow line. I then went into the CPG palette and the shade  Velvet (midtone taupe- matte) and tapped that over the full inner and outer 1/3 of the lids (lash to brow line). I then took the shade Dusk (saddle brown  – matte) and buffed that over the outer and inner 1/4 of the lids (the inner and outer 1/2 of the inner and outer 1/3 of the lids). I then took the shade Mode (warm chestnut brown – matte) and tapped that over the line of demarcation between the outer 1/3 and the middle 1/3 and the inner 1/3 and the middle 1/3. I then took the shade Jolie (blackened brown with gold pinpoints – sequin shadow) and tapped that over the very outer part of the inner 1/3 and the outer 1/3 and then took a clean fluffy brush and buffed all the hard edges of the whole look. I then switched to the JPBB palette and took the 3rd shade of the second row (deep dark rose – matte) and patted that over the inner half of the inner and outer 1/3 to add a bit more dimension. I then took more of P.Louise Eye Base ($14 for 0.504 fl oz / 15 mL of product on their website) in the shade Rumour 0.5 (very light skin) and patted it over the very center of the middle 1/3 of the lids and then took the 1st shade of the second row rosy with a peach flip – shimmer) and tapped that over the middle 1/3 of the lids (lash to brow line) I then went back in with whatever was still left on the brush that I used to apply the 3rd shade of the second row (deep dark rose – matte) from the JPBB palette and tapped that over the inner and outer edges of the middle 1/3 of the lids. For the lower lash line I used the shade Mode (warm chestnut brown – matte) from the CPG palette and then deepened the look using the 3rd shade of the second row (deep dark rose – matte) from the JPBB palette and then deepened the outer 1/3 of the lash line using the shade Jolie (blackened brown with gold pinpoints – sequin shadow) from the CPG palette. I then highlighted the inner corners of my eyes using the shade Boronu (honey gold – metallic) from the JPMM palette connecting the lower lash line to the outer v of the crease.. I lined my lower water lines using ColourPop BFF Crème Gel Liner (this shade is no longer available, was limited edition) in the shade Woodsy (medium chocolate brown). I then did a deep almost straight out wing on my upper lash lines using KVD Tattoo Line ($21 for 0.019 fl oz / 0.562 mL of product at Ulta) in the shade Mad Max Brown (rich chocolate brown).

Complexion:

I primed using Makeup Revolution Fix & Glow Ultra Glow Primer ($12 for 0.84 fl oz / 25 mL of product at Ulta and then contoured using Uoma Beauty Double Take Contour Stick ($40 for 0.38 oz / 10.77 g of product at Ulta) in the shade Brown Sugar (for brown skin). For foundation today I attempted to use the BECCA Light Shifter Dewing Tint (discontinued due to company shutting down) in the shade 2.5 (light/medium with yellow undertones) but it turns out this product isn’t a foundation tint it’s more like the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter ($44 for 1.0 fl oz. / 30 mL at Sephora) in that it has the slightest of tint but is a glowy product that can be worn alone or under foundation. I did apply the Light Shifter to my face and then I applied Wet n Wild Photo Focus Dewy Foundation ($6.49 for 0.95 fl oz / 28 mL of product at Ulta) in the shade Soft Beige (the 6th shade in the line). I bronzed my face using Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Bronzer ($35 for 1 oz / 28.35 g of product at Ulta) in the shade Hazelnut (tan to deep with warm undertones). I color corrected my under eyes using Milani Peach Tinted Under Eye Brightener ($8.99 0.51 fl oz / 15 mL of product on their website) and then concealed the under eyes using Tarte Travel Size Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer ($10 for 0.03 fl oz / 0.89 mL or $29 for 0.33 fl oz / 9.76 mL of product at Ulta) in the shade 20 B Light (light skin with pink undertones).

Cheeks, Lips, Lashes and Touch Ups:

For my cream blush I used Stila Convertible Color ($25 for 0.15 oz / 4.25 g of product at Ulta) in the shade Petunia (coral peach cream). I set my under eyes using BECCA Under Eye Brightening Setting Powder (discontinued due to company closing down) and the rest of my face using ColourPop No Filter Loose Setting Powder ($10 for 0.30 oz / 8.5 g of product on their website) in the shade Translucent. I touched up my bronzer using Milani Baked Bronzer ($8.99 for 0.25 oz / 7.09 g of product at Ulta) and my blush using Benefit Cosmetics GALifornia Sunny Golden-Pink Powder Blush ($30 for 0.17 oz / 5 g of product at Ulta) and then highlighted the high points of my face using Benefit Cosmetics Tickle Powder Highlighter ($30 for 0.28 oz / 8 g of product at Ulta). I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil ($6 on their website) in the shade Bitchette (deepened red) and topped my lips with MAC (no longer available) Studded Kiss (dark red – matte). I used 1 coat of L’Oréal Voluminous Carbon Black Volume Building Mascara ($8.99 for 0.23 oz / 6.52 g of product at Ulta) and popped on a pair of ColourPop Falsies Faux Mink Lashes ($8 per pair at Ulta and on the ColourPop Website) in the style Bae (wispy and lengthening). I filled in the front of my brows with more Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade ($21 for 0.14 oz/ 4 g of product at Ulta) in the shade Ebony (black hair with warm undertones) and then used the NYX Lift & Snatch Brow Tint Pen Waterproof Eyebrow Pen ($11 for 0.03 fl oz / 1 mL of product at Ulta) in the shade Espresso. I set my face using ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Acid Setting Mist ($12 for 3.72 fl oz / 110.01 mL of product at Ulta and on the ColourPop website) and for touch ups I am using E.L.F. Beautifully Bare Finishing Powder ($6 for 0.33 oz / 9.36 g of product at Ulta and on the ELF website) .

Final Thoughts:

I haven’t done a halo eye is so long, I forgot how pretty a smokey halo eye could be. I’m hoping I will be feeling better tomorrow so that I can play in my makeup again…fingers crossed.

And with that the walkthrough of today’s look is complete.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night 🌞🌜 and that you are in great spirts and health.

👄Remember, Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick👄
