Grungy Purple Smokey Eye Face of the Day

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m doing great!!! I have a normal pain level for me, around a 6 and my energy was pretty good today.

I’ve been challenging myself to try and come up with fall looks, even though the palettes that were chosen for me scream spring time…. I came up with this grungey purple smokey eye today….

I used 1 shadow from the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Snap Shadow Mix & Match Palette ($25 for 0.21 oz / 6 g of total product on their website making it 0.035 oz / 1 g and $4.17 per shade) in the limited edition color story #10 Money, 6 shadows from the L.A.Girl Desert Dream Eyeshadow Palette – Mainstage ($15.99 for 35 g/ 1.23 oz of total product, making it $0.99 a shade at Ulta), and 3 shades from the LA Girl 16 Color Mastery Eyeshadow Palette ($15.99 for 1.23 total ounces of product at Ulta making it $0.99 and 0.077 ounces per shade ) to create today’s look.

Today’s scent is….

Burberry Brit for Her Eau de Parfum ($85 for 1.7 fl oz / 50.28 mL of product at Ulta) was released in 2003 and is a powdery sweet floral with scent notes of:

Top Notes: Italian Line, Crisp Green Almond and Pear.

Heart Notes: Candied Almond and Peony.

Base Notes: Mahogany, Amber, Vanilla and Tonka Bean.

Let’s get into the walkthrough and eye pictorial for today’s Face of the Day….

Eyes and Brows:

I combed the slightest amount of Got 2 B Glued Spiking Glue ($6.49 for 6 oz / 170 g of product at Ulta) through my brows, I did not laminate them up I simply brushed the gel through to keep the hairs all going in the same direction. I filled in my brows using the Huda Beauty #BombBrows Microshade Brow Pencil ($17 for 0.0008 oz / 0.023 g of product at Sephora) in the shade #7 Black Brown (Huda’s shade, black hair with warm undertones). I craved out my brows and primed my lids using the Beckysue Eye Primer (was purchased on Amazon, this brand no longer sold but there are many others similar on Amazon) in the shade White. I then put a piece of tape at the edges of my eyes to create a crisp look on the outside edges. For today’s look I used 1 shadow from the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Snap Shadow Mix & Match Palette ($25 for 0.21 oz / 6 g of total product on their website making it 0.035 oz / 1 g and $4.17 per shade) in the limited edition color story #10 Money, 6 shadows from the L.A.Girl Desert Dream Eyeshadow Palette – Mainstage ($15.99 for 35 g/ 1.23 oz of total product, making it $0.99 a shade at Ulta), and 3 shades from the LA Girl 16 Color Mastery Eyeshadow Palette ($15.99 for 1.23 total ounces of product at Ulta making it $0.99 and 0.077 ounces per shade ). I started with the shade RubbaBandz (warm toned slight red based brown – matte) from the Fenty palette and the using a thing tapered crease brush I buffed that shade from low on the crease all the way to the middle of the brow line for the transition

I then switched to the LA Girl Mainstage palette using a small pencil brush and the shade  Flex (dusty berry – matte) I buffed it through the full crease and up to the middle of the transition shade

I then took a stout crease brush and a combo of the shades Ferris Wheel (pastel dust purple – matte) from the LA Girl Mainstage palette, Pretty (berry purple – matte)Maven (dark mauve – matte) and Dapper (aubergine – matte) from the LA Girl Mastery palette and buffed that on the outer 1/3 of the mobile lids and up into the v of the crease buffing it up and out toward the tails of the brows

Then to deepen the outer v of the crease some more I took a small thick crease brush and the shade Black Out (dusty black – matte) from the LA Girl Mainstage palette buffing it into the outer v and keeping it tight against the crease, making sure to only go above the crease by a little bit

I then took a tiny detailer brush and some micellar water and cleaned up the mobile lids, applied more primer and using the same brush tapped a combo of the shades  Ferris Wheel (pastel dust purple – matte) and  Flex (dusty berry – matte) from the LA Girl Mainstage palette over the ball of the eye (the middle 1/3 of the mobile lids) as a base to give the next shades some dimension

Then using my finger I tapped the shade  AYYY (deep berry – metallic) over the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid (leaving just the very edge, where the black shadow was laid) and the shade Merch (deep purple – metallic) over the ball of the eye (the middle 1/3 of the mobile lids), extending this shade 1/2 over the inner 1/3 to make the transition into the lightest shade smoother

For the inner 1/3 of the mobile lids I took a thin tiny detailer brush and the shade Light Show (light grey blue with a coral flip – metallic) from the LA Girl Mainstage palette and tapped it over the full 1/3 of the inner mobile lids, making sure to fluff it over the line between the inner and middle 1/3 of the lids

I took the tape from the outer edges of the eyes and cleaned up all the full out on my under eyes. I then took a fluffy pencil brush and the shade Flex (dusty berry – matte) from the LA Girl Mainstage palette and created a deep drop shadow, to buff the lower edge of the drop shadow I took a tiny amount of setting powder to help blend the harsh edge. I lined the lower water lines using the ColourPop BFF Crème Gel Liner ($7 for 0.007 oz / 0.2 g of product on their website) in the shade Plum Smash (warm violet) and I then highlighted the inner corners of my eyes using the shade Viral (true coral – metallic) from the LA Girl Mainstage palette. I then took the ColourPop BFF Liquid Liner ($8 for 0.019 fl oz / 0.56 mL of product at Ulta) in the shade Numero Uno (true black) and lined super tight to the lash lines along just the area where I have lashes to aid in hiding my lash bands of the false lashes

Complexion:

I primed my face using the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter (no longer in production). I contoured my cheek bones, sides of my forehead, bridge of the nose, jaw line and lips using SOL Body Face & Bronzing Balm ($15 for 1.01 oz / 31 g) in the shade Deep Dark. Today’s foundation is the Milk Makeup Blur Liquid Matte Foundation ($40 for 1 fl oz / 30 mL of product at Sephora) in the shade Ivory (fair with neutral to yellow undertones). I bronzed the perimeter of my face using Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Bronzer ($32 for 0.22 oz / 6.23 g of product at Sephora) in the shade #05 Teddy (tan skin tones). I highlighted the high points of my face using the E.L.F. Liquid Highlighter ($4 on their website). I color corrected my under eyes sing the LA Girl HD Pro Corrector Concealer ($4.99 for 0.28 oz / 7.94 g of product at Ulta) in the shade Peach. I concealed the sides of my nose to clean up my contour using the Uoma Stay Woke Luminous Brightening Concealer ($25 for 0.17 oz / 4.82 g of product at Ulta) in the shade White Pearl T2 (very fair skin) and then patted what ever was left on my sponge under my eyes to conceal them.

Cheeks, Lips, Lashes and Touch Ups:

For cream blush I used the Revolution Pro Blush & Lift Liquid Blusher ($10 for 0.2 fl oz / 5.8 mL of product on their website) in the shade Peaches.  I set my under eyes using a little RMCA No Color Powder ($14 for 3 oz / 85.05 g of product on the Beautylish website). I set my bronzer using the Benefit Cosmetics Babes on Board Face Palette (was limited edition) but I am only using the Hoola Bronzer ($30 for 0.28 oz / 8 g of product at Ulta) in the Original shade, my blush using the BECCA Blush (no longer in production) in the shade Flowerchild (coral pearl) and my highlighter using the BH Cosmetics Glowing in Greece 6 Pan Palette ($17 for 0.75 oz / 21.5 g on their website making 0.125 oz / 3.58 g and $2.83 per shade) in the shade Athens (pale gold). I set the rest of my face using the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder ($32 for 0.98 oz / 28 g of product at Sephora) in the shade Butter (fair to medium skin tones). I lined my lips using the ColourPop Lippie Pencil (this shade was limited edition – it has 0.035oz / 1 g of product) in the shade Mamacita (deepened blackberry) and filled in the edges of the lips with it and then topped the whole lip off with the NYX Powder Puff Lippie ($8.50 for 0.40 oz / 11.33 g of product at Ulta) in the shade Senior Class (true purple – matte). I used 1 coat of the Makeup Revolution The Mascara Revolution ($10 for 0.5 oz / 14.17 g of product on their website) and popped on a pair of KoKo Lashes ($7.99 on the Lady Moss website) in the style Queen B. I then set my face using the Beauty Bakerie Spray Your Grace Setting Spray ($18 for 3.4 fl oz / 100.55 mL of product at Ulta) and then feathered in some hair like strokes to the front of my brows using the NYX Lift & Snatch Brow Tint Pen Waterproof Eyebrow Pen ($11 for 0.03 fl oz / 0.89 mL of product at Ulta) in the shade Espresso.

Final Thoughts:

I love purple in makeup… it’s such a pretty color to work with… and I love a good grungy eye look so today’s look was the best of both worlds. This look was easy to do and I love how that little pop of lilac in the inner 1/3 of the mobile lids looks…

And with that today’s walkthrough and pictorial is over….

I hope you have a great rest of your day/night 🌞🌜 and that you’re in great spirits and health 😄🩺.

👄Remember, Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.👄
