3rd Beauty Haul of July 2020

Published July 10, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. Not feeling the best today have a wicked headache and no energy.

I just received my order from BECCA Cosmetics. So I thought I’d haul it before I test the products out. So let’s get started ….

*Reminder: All swatches are done on bare skin with no primer and in 1 go, The pictures on the left are done without flash and the ones on the right are done with flash*

BECCA Skin Love Weightless Blur Foundation $44 (but on sale for $26.40) on their website for 1.23 fluid ounces of product. It comes in 24 shades with 14 shades for deeper skin tones and I have it in the shade Shell (light beige with neutral undertones). It’s billed as a moisturizing, light weight, medium-coverage foundation with a velvety, natural finish for healthy looking skin that lasts for 24 hours of wear. It claims to have pore-blurring pigments.

What I learned swatching this foundation was that it is that this foundation is hydrating and super pigmented. It’s billed as a medium coverage foundation I would say it’s light full coverage. I left the swatch on for 5 minutes to test if it will oxidize and it did not. It does not set down all the way, however it does set down enough that you can get away without setting it with powder.

BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer $32 (but on sale for $19.20) on their website for .18 fluid ounces of product. It comes in 9 shades with 4 shades for deeper skin and I have it in the shade Porcelain (very fair with slightly pink undertones). It’s billed as a water-infused, crease-proof concealer that delivers weightless light-to-medium coverage that is blurring and has a soft luminosity. It claims to have flexible color pigments that move with your skin for seamless coverage. It claims to never crease, cake, or settle into lines.

What I learned from the swatch is that this is a very light weight concealer with light medium coverage that can be built up to full medium coverage. It’s creamy and has just enough pigment to not be over the top. This is the kind of concealer you can wear on no makeup or low makeup days without it looking strange. I left the swatch on for 5 minutes to test to see if it would oxidize … it does not however it does set down almost all the way so you may not have to set it with powder if you want to keep the luminosity that it has.

BECCA Ever-Matte Shine Proof Foundation (this is a free sample with purchase) full sized will run you $42 on their website for 1.34 fluid ounces of product. It comes in 20 shades with 11 shades for deeper skin tones and I was gifted the shade Cashmere (neutral beige, neutral undertones). It’s billed as a medium coverage foundation that absorbs excess oil and blurs the look of imperfections for a shine-free matte finish.

What I learned from this swatch is that this is a pretty thick foundation. A little goes a long way. It’s a high pigment foundation that is billed as a medium coverage foundation, however I think it looks full coverage from this swatch. I left it on for 5 minutes and it did not oxidize. It does not set down so a setting powder is needed.

BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector $32 on their website for .16 ounces of product. It comes in 2 shades (light/medium and medium/deep) I purchased it in the light/medium shade. It’s billed as a full-coverage colour corrector that uses light to brighten dark under eye. It claims to nourish the under eyes and to have backlight technology that is infused with peach and apricot toned color correctors with light-reflecting illuminators that deflect light away from dark circles.

What I learned from this swatch is that this is a super creamy formula and a very little goes a very long way. It’s very brightening and has a great slip to it I left it on for 5 minutes and it did not oxidize, it also did not set down at all (remained as creamy as it was 5 minutes prior).

BECCA Ignite Liquified Light Highlighter (this is a free sample with purchase) full sized will run you $38 on their website for 1.52 fluid ounces of product. It comes in 5 shades and I have it in the shade Passion (pale incandescent pearl that reflects gold). It’s billed as a liquid highlighter for face and body that gives skin an all over pearlized glow that is transfer and water resistant and has multi-dimensional micro-pearls suspended in a crystal-gel formula to give the skin a pearlized glow.

What I learned from this swatch is that a very little goes a very long way. It’s super reflective and very creamy and super pigmented. I left it on for 2 full minutes and the formula dried down fully. I did need a bit of soap to remove it so I do believe the water resistant claim.

BECCA Mineral Blush $32 on their website for .2 ounces of product.

It comes in 7 shades (for this formula) and I purchased it in the shade Song Bird (peachy pink). It’s billed as a mineral blush that is highly pigmented, builds and blends effortlessly to give cheeks a healthy, natural flush.

What I learned from this swatch is that this is an incredibly finely milled blush. It’s super pigmented (this swatch was made with just 1 small swipe of the blush) and super smooth. It’s a satin finished blush that is so pretty!!!

BECCA Sunlit Bronzer $38 on their website for .25 ounces of product

It comes in 5 shades with 3 of those shades being deep enough for deep skin and I purchased the shade Ipanema Sun (medium auburn brown). It’s billed as an ultra-creamy bronzer that builds a warm, sun-kissed glow on any skin with a ultra buttery formula that is buildable and has a neutral under tone.

What I learned from this swatch is that it’s super pigmented and a light hand is best with this product. It’s a satin finish bronzer that is finely milled and super smooth. I love the fact that it’s a red based bronzer instead of the classic orange based bronzers that I have in my collection.

BECCA Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder (this was a free gift with purchase) the full sized will run you $39 on their website for .35 ounces of product. It comes in 2 shades original (a sheer, creamy beige) and golden bronze (a soft, warm tan) I was gifted the original shade. It’s billed as a weightless setting powder that refreshes and cools the skin with all-day moisture and blurs the look of pores and fine lines. It claims to be formulated with 50% water that sets makeup while refreshing and cooling skin on contact with a mist like sensation.

What I learned from this swatch is that this powder is finely milled and super smooth. I didn’t notice and cooling of mist like sensation with this swatch … but perhaps it’s just because it’s such a small swatch.

BECCA Glow Gloss (these were a gift with purchase) $22 for .18 fluid ounces on their website

It comes in 10 shades, of which I was gifted the mini’s of Rose Gold (left – copper rose with soft gold pearl) and Champagne Creme (right – soft gold with high-impact pink & gold pearls). It’s billed as a lip formula with the shine of a gloss, pigment of a liquid lipstick and nourishing benefits of a balm. It claims to be nourishing, conditioning, have plumping peptides, and a high shine finish.

What I learned from this swatch is that these are super creamy lip glosses … not at all sticky. They feel super hydrating and have fine mica pigments in them. They smell like mint and I tested it on my lips to see if it “plumps” like the claims state. It felt cooling on the lips but did not plump my lips.

BECCA Ultimate Lipstick Love $24 on their website for .12 ounces of product.

It comes in 30 shades and I purchased the shade Tulip (warm pinky coral). It’s billed as an instantly moisturizing lipstick for pure colour in one swipe, infused with hyaluronic acid to hydrate. It claims to be long-wearing and packed with pure color pigments in a light reflecting oil that delivers a comfortable 8 hour wear.

What I learned from this swatch is that this is a really creamy and pigmented lipstick. It has the same type of scent that MAC lipsticks have. This is a satin finished product that has got great slip with no stickiness.

And finally …. my last product in this haul is …..

BECCA Lush Lip Colour Balm $22 (on sale for $13.20) on their website for .10 ounces of product.

It comes in 8 shades and I purchased it in the shade Café Au Lait (peachy beige). It’s billed as a hydrating, tinted lip balm that nourishes and smooths with sheer, satiny-soft colour.

What I learned from this swatch is that this is a super emollient lip balm. It’s got more pigment to it than I thought it would have and it’s not sticky at all. It was a beautiful slip to it.

Well…. That’s all for this haul dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

I’ll be using almost all of these products in today’s Face of the Day …. stay tuned for my review in Final Thoughts….

Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

THE DREAM PALETTE CHALLENGE DAY 6 : DREAM Mono-Chromatic PALETTE

Published July 10, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag
This is a challenge that was created by newlipstickclub1 , shimmershanny , and pan.o.ramics on Instagram.

Day 1: Dream Mono-Chromatic Palette: Pick 9 shades all based on your favorite color to create your own mini mono-chromatic palette

  • As always the picture on the left will be the picture with no flash and the one on the right will be the one with flash …. All swatches are done on bare skin with no primer and in 1 pass.

The color story I chose for my Monochromatic palette is PURPLE of course!!! Not only is it my favorite color on the planet, it’s also the official color of Spoonie Awareness. So let’s take a look at what my dream mono-chromatic palette would look like.

The shade from left to right are as follows:

Earthshine (pinky lavender with a blue duo-chrome flip – metallic) from the It’s My Pleasure Palette from ColourPop $12 on their website. This is such a pretty purpler, pinky, blue shifting eye shadow that is perfect for the inner corner or just tapped over the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid.

Mr. Sandman (icy rose with a silver sheen – metallic) from the It’s My Pleasure Palette from ColourPop $12 on their website. This shade reminds me a little of MAC’s Blue Brown pigment in the way that it shifts. I love this color paired with a mossy green metallic.

Tropicana (pastel lilac – matte) from the ELF Retro Paradise Palette $14 on their website. This is a great little powdery lilac shade that’s great for the mobile lid but can also be used as a brow line highlight for a more avant garde look.

Neutrino (purple with a blue sheen – metallic) a ColourPop Single Pan Eyeshadow $4.50 on their website. I have said so much already about this shade … so I will simply say …. when ever I have a chance to add this shade to a look …. I do because I just simply love it.

Do or Dough (bright lavender with blue duo-chrome flip – metallic) from the It’s My Pleasure Palette from ColourPop $12 on their website. This one has so much dimension to it that it’s just the perfect companion to any purple look , be it smokey, subtle, or glam.

Guilt Trip (smoky purple – shimmer) from the Urban Decay Born to Run Palette $49 at Sephora. I don’t reach for this one as much as I reach for some of my other purple shadows but every time I do I love the look … this is my most subtle purple shadow I own … it’s a bit smokey…. a bit sultry.

Chick Lit (deep amethyst – metallic) from the It’s My Pleasure Palette from ColourPop $12 on their website. This shade is just perfection … simply put …. PERFECTION.

Candace (true berry based purple – matte) from the Warrior III Palette from Juvia’s Place $20 on their website. I love to use this shade as a base for my less punchy purple shades … it really punches up the purple in any shade.

and finally Sleeper (eggplant – matte) a ColourPop Single Pan Eyeshadow $4.50 on their website. I use this one to deepen my outer v and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid. I also use it to deepen the lower lash line too.

Well … there you have it dolls … my dream 9 pan mono-chrome palette … what would be your dream 9 pan mono-chrome palette?

I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good health and spirits.

Remember dolls … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

THE DREAM PALETTE CHALLENGE DAY 5 : DREAM FACE PALETTE

Published July 9, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag
This is a challenge that was created by newlipstickclub1 , shimmershanny , and pan.o.ramics on Instagram.

Day 5: Dream Face Palette: Pick 4 shades from any of your palettes that could be turned into your dream face palette (blush, bronzer, highlight, etc

  • As always the picture on the left will be the picture with no flash and the one on the right will be the one with flash …. All swatches are done on bare skin with no primer and in 1 pass.

The shades that I chose for this dream face palette from left to right are :

Contour : Matte Hung (a grey based deep taupe – matte) from the Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude Palette was $42 but is no longer available on their site …. it can be found on other sites such as Bridgette’s Boutique. I have often used this shade whilst traveling, to save space in my makeup bag, as a contour. What I like most about it is that it’s not overly pigmented so you don’t really have to worry that you’ll go over board and end up with a grey muddy mess. It blends out perfectly and never goes patchy.

Bronzer: Kufuru (syrup brown – matte) from the Warrior II Palette by Juvia’s Place $20 on their website. This shadow is my perfect bronzer shade! It’s got just enough red undertone in it to be a pretty bronzer. It’s super pigmented so you have to go in with a light hand and just a touch of product at a time. This shadow, as a bronzer, lasts all day… even thought the Florida humidity.

Blush: Spiced (a red based mid-toned coral – matte) from the ELF Retro Paradise Palette $14 on their website. I love me a good coral blush … and even though I’ve used eyeshadows as contour and bronzer and highlighter and even lipstick toppers from time to time, I never thought to use one as a blush! This shade when I swatched it for a blush contender was just so beautiful! It’s got the right amount of red to it to make the cheeks look sun kissed and the right saturation of coral to give you pop of color to the cheeks. I plan to use this shade for my next Face of the Day look.

and finally Highlighter: Moremi (white gold – metallic) from the Warrior Palette by Juvia’s Place $20 on their website. I’ve used this shadow as highlighter a few times now. It’s a super beaming highlight so I go in with a fluffy highlighter brush and a super light hand so as to not go over board. But the undertone of this gold shadow is perfect for that everyday sort of highlight.

Well dolls, there you have it … my 4 pan dream face palette. What shades would you pick for your dream face palette?

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

THE DREAM PALETTE CHALLENGE DAY 4: Dream Colorful Palette

Published July 8, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag
This is a challenge that was created by newlipstickclub1 , shimmershanny , and pan.o.ramics on Instagram.

Day 4: Dream Colorful Palette: Pick 9 colorful shades from any of your palettes to create your own mini colorful palette

  • As always the picture on the left will be the picture with no flash and the one on the right will be the one with flash …. All swatches are done on bare skin with no primer and in 1 pass.

The colors from left to right are:

Solstice With the Mostest (neon pink with a blue sheen – metallic) a ColourPop single pan shadow ($4.50 on their website). I just love this pink shade! It’s so fun to play with and it’s so super pigmented. It’s a great summer shade.

Grid Lock (bright teal with silver & teal glitter – metallic) a ColourPop single pan shadow ($4.50 on their website). This teal is super pretty on it’s own, as a lower lash pop of color, as center of a smokey halo eye, or winged out along the lash line as a pop of liner color.

Back Stage (cobalt blue – matte) a ColourPop single pan shadow ($4.50 on their website). This matte shade is so freaking pretty!!! I use it as an all over shadow, I use it as liner shade, I’ve even used it as an outer v shade.

Bare Minimum (berry violet – metallic) from the It’s My Pleasure Eyeshadow Palette by ColourPop ($12 on their website). This is such a unique shade. It has a hint of duo-chrome to it that just give this reddish tint to the eyeshadow.

Do or Dough (bright lavender with blue duo chrome flip – metallic) from the It’s My Pleasure Eyeshadow Palette by ColourPop ($12 on their website). I really love this shade as an all over mobile lid shade. It’s such a pretty duo-chrome. It’s so pretty, in fact, that I sometimes just dust a wash of this shade over my mobile lid and use nothing else, save some mascara.

Chick Lit (deep amethyst – metallic) from the It’s My Pleasure Eyeshadow Palette by ColourPop ($12 on their website). This shade is so majestic! It’s my most treasured purple shade in all my collection. I have even used this shade as a lipstick topper on occasions.

Egypt (royal green – metallic) from the Nubian 2 Palette by Juvia’s Place $28 on their website. This is such a pretty deep forest green with a slight gold lilt to it. I love creating a green smokey eye with this shadow most of all, but I have also used it as an lower lash liner and outer v shade.

Cleopatra (royal blue – metallic) from the Nubian 2 Palette by Juvia’s Place on their website. There is so much dimension to this shadow. Swatching this shadow doesn’t do it justice. There is just something so magical about this shade.

And finally Kongo (bright icy sky blue – metallic) from the Warrior III Palette by Juvia’s Place $20 on their website. This is such a bright blue! I just can’t stop staring when I’m wearing this one.

So there we have it dolls … this is what my dream mini colorful palette would look like. I know it’s sort of blue and purple heavy but those really are my favorite types of pop of color shadows. What shades would be in your 9 pan colorful palette?

I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good health and spirits.

Remember … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

THE DREAM PALETTE CHALLENGE DAY 3: Dream Neutral Palette

Published July 7, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? great I hope.

I know it’s been a week since I last posted for this challenge … but better late than never.

This is a challenge that was created by newlipstickclub1 , shimmershanny , and pan.o.ramics on Instagram.

Day 3: Dream Neutral Palette: Pick 9 neutral shades from any of your palettes to create your own mini neautrals palette

  • As always the picture on the left will be the picture with no flash and the one on the right will be the one with flash …. All swatches are done on bare skin with no primer and in 1 pass.

The shades for my dream mini neutrals palette would be:

Creme (a basic vanilla – matte) from the ELF The New Classics Palette $14 on their site. This shade is perfect for a brow bone highlight and as a matte inner corner highlight.

Riff (nude brown – matte) from the Urban Decay Born to Run Palette $49 at Ulta and Sephora. This is just the perfect nude transition shade. It’s just the right under tone of warmth without being too warm.

Maple (warm caramel brown – matte) from the Too Face Born This Way The Natural Nudes Palette $45 at Ulta and Sephora. This shade is similar to Riff but has a bit more yellow in the tone. It’s such a pretty shadow to just pop in the crease for some added dimension on those no makeup makeup days.

Sea Stars (medium yellow brown – matte) a ColourPop Single Pressed Powder Shadow $4.50 on their website. This is my go to shade when I just want an all over wash of color. I also love to use it to really smoke out the lower lash line when I do drop shadows.

Kano (true caramel – matte ) from the Warrior Palette by Juvia’s Place $20 on their website. I use Kano a ton… not just for eye shadow… I also use it to warm up the highest points of my face when I want a subtle bronzed look.

Kufuru (syrup brown – matte) from the Warrior II Palette by Juvia’s Place $20 on their website. I freaking love this shadow! It’s my favorite way to deepen up the outer v and to add depth to the lower lash line.

Over It (light warm coral – metallic) a ColourPop Single Pressed Powder Shadow (discontinued). This is the perfect coral shade to pair with a neutral palette. It’s just the right pigmentation and right shade of coral to pair well with a smokey neutral look and still work well with a barely their neutral look.

The 4th shade of the 1st row (champagne – metallic) of the Nubian Palette by Juvia’s Place $20 on their website. This adds such a stunning pop of light to any neutral look. It’s also a great inner corner highlight shade.

and finally Kenya (chocolate brown – matte) from the Nubian 2 Palette from Juvia’s Place $20 on their website. This is my go to shadow to create a smokey neutral look with and also to add depth to the very outer parts of the eye.

There you have it dolls. My perfect dream mini neutral palette. What shades would be in your 9 pan dream neutral palette?

I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and good health.

Remember … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

2nd Beauty Haul of July 2020

Published July 7, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I still feeling run down and in heaps of pain (it’s raining horribly today) so I probably I wont be doing my makeup today.

I received 2 of my orders (1 was ordered last month and the other I ordered on the 1st of July)…. Let’s dive into my haul …. * NOTE: All swatches are done on bare skin, with no primer, and in 1 go and as always the swatch picture on the left (or top) will be taken with no flash and the one on the right (or the bottom) will be taken with flash*

Dior Backstage Face & Body Primer (this bottle is a 100 point offer on Sephora but a full bottle is $36) It’s billed as a lightweight, universal primer that helps makeup last longer, blurs imperfections, and delivers up to 24 hours of hydration for an enhanced complexion.

What I’ve learned from this swatch is that this is a very hydrating primer that is clear and not sticky. It has a very strong rose scent to it so I am hesitant to try this out on my face … I’ll test it out on a day when I wont be wearing my makeup for a long day just in case the fragrance irritates my face.

Sephora Collection 12hr Colorful Contour Eyeliner $11 at Sephora

This gel pencil comes in 14 shades, I purchased it in the shade Cocoa (chocolate brown). This one is billed as a waterproof eye pencils formulated in a slick pigmented waterproof texture for an intense and flawless line in just one stroke.

What I’ve learned from this swatch is that this is a superbly pigmented and easy to use eye liner. There was no tugging or skipping and it sets fast. This is truly a waterproof liner …. I had to use soap to remove this swatch.

Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner $26 at Sephroa

This gel pencil comes in 37 shades and I purchased it in the shade #74 Sunset (golden bronze- shimmer). This one is billed as a gel pot eyeliner in a crayon that delivers intense color and 12-hour waterproof wear and amazing glide in shimmer and matte finishes.

This is the first eye product I’ve tried by Marc Jacobs. What I’ve learned from this swatch is that this is on incredible formula. It’s super creamy, glides on softly and pigmented. It did not tug and did not skip. It’s a super pretty shade as well. This one also is very waterproof. I needed soap to remove it and I had to wipe at it a little bit longer than with other liners.

ColourPop Falsies Faux Lashes $8 on their website and are billed as being able to get the fullest lashes with these criss-crossed patterned faux mink falsies! Longer fibers in the middle of the lash creates a volumized doll-eyed look!
ColourPop Falsies Faux Lashes $8 on their website and are billed as having plush synthetic fibers create full-on drama to your look with length, tapered fibers, and its unique cluster and criss-cross pattern.
ColourPop Create Your Own Palette $45 on their website. You get 24 singles shadows ($4.5 each on their own) and an empty Z palette.

The first 12 shades from left to right are:

What’s Yo Sign (yellow peach with gold sparkle – sequin) – this one is a repurchase, Koi (soft warm orange – matte), Side Tracked (terracotta with gold flecks – sequin) – this one is a repurchase, Charge It (soft rosy pink -matte) – this one is a repurchase, So Good (warm chestnut brown – matte), Painted Lady (icy peachy orange – metallic) – this one is a repurchase, Come & Get It (duo-chrome rose with a gold flip – metallic), Turn Tables (orangey coral – metallic), The Vibez (true bronze – metallic), Misty (pinky rose gold with baby blue glitter – metallic) – this one is a repurchase, Humble Brag (burnt orange with gold flecks – sequin), and Anthem (bright pinky copper – metallic).

The last 12 shades from left to right are:

Thank U Next (rosy bronze with a copper duo-chrome flip – metallic), Sugar Sugar (icy mauve – metallic), Snake Eyes (pale pink taupe – metallic), Call You Mine (deep red plum – metallic), Facet (deep red brown – matte), Tea Garden (duo-chrome red with a green gold flip – metallic) – this one is a repurchase, Glass Bull (duo-chrome lavender icy-blue – metallic), Wishful Winking (teal with an eggplant duo-chrome flip – metallic), Paradiso (violet – metallic), Luv That For U (deep orchid – metallic), Cater 2 U (pinky fuchsia – metallic), and For Shore (neon warm pink – matte).

Well dolls … that’s everything in this haul.

I do have a few more hauls coming sometime later next week.

For now dolls I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

Remember … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO, Nita

1st Beauty Haul of July 2020

Published July 3, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m feeling pretty crummy today. It’s our rainy season here in Florida so the Barometric Pressure is really wreaking havoc on my Fibromyalgia.

I just received my first beauty buy of July 2020 so I’d thought before I dive into these new items I’d give you a quick look see….

All the products of today’s haul are from Makeup Revolution (Revolution Beauty). They were meant to be here in the month of June, however I purchased them from the UK site instead of the US site so it took longer than normal to get here. It’s only a small order placed because I didn’t have much left in my Beauty Buy Budget for the month of June but I managed to spend less than what I had and that money I rolled over to the month of July.

Well … let’s take a look at what I purchased….

NOTE: All swatches are done on bare skin with no primer and in 1 pass. Also all pictures taken of the swatches are done with flash.

Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Concealer $10 for .45 fluid ounces of product.

This concealer is available in 50 shades (18 shades for deeper skin tones) and I purchased it in the shade C3 (fair skin tones with a cool under tones). I could have gone up 1/2 a shade but I still think this shade will work out good for me.

This one is billed as being suitable for everyone looking for a lightweight finish with a boost of moisture. it claims that it covers blemishes, evens skin tone and counteracts dark circles, while drenching skin with moisture thanks to an infusion of hyaluronic acid and that it was designed for drier skin with a sheer, satin finish that won’t settle into fine lines.

What I noticed upon swatching this one is that this one is not lightweight at all and a very little of this product goes a very long way. It also doesn’t set down and remains pretty tacky so this one definitely will need to be set with powder immediately after application.

Revolution Cut Crease Canvas $9 for .15 fluid ounces of product.

This eye shadow base comes in 4 shades (white, fair, medium and deep). I purchased 2 shades… Halo (white) and Illustrate (fair). It’s billed as a full coverage eyeshadow base with an innovative built-in brush for easy application and claims to be the shortcut you need for a defined canvas for a cut crease with glitter, foil or eyeshadow.

What I noticed about this product upon swatching it is that it’s very emollient and remains tacky to the touch. For some reason the white shade spreads further than the fair shade does. This has a similar consistence to the P.Louise Base, mind you it’s not a spot on dupe but it’s got some similarities. I don’t particularly like the applicator on this one (it’s s short fat square shaped bush applicator) but I will just put this one on the back of my hand and use it with the same synthetic brush that I use to apply the P.Louise Base.

Revolution PRO Define & Fill Micro Brow Pencil $8 for .004 ounces of product.

This product comes in 3 shades: Ash Brown, Warm Brown, and Dark Brown (I repurchased it in the shade Dark Brown, this is a replacement as I just finished my last one off last month). It’s billed as  an ultra fine brow pencil that creates the most convincing hair-like strokes for a natural and soft looking brow with a weighted component that sits comfortably in the hand in order to support precise application.

This is the 4th time I have repurchased this pencil. It’s my 2nd favorite pencil ever. (My first being the Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil).

This pencil is creamy with just enough waxiness to keep you from going over board. It’s a great drug store priced pencil.

Revolution PRO Revolution Pro CC Cream Perfecting Foundation $15 for .87 fluid ounces of product.

This product comes in 20 shades (7 shades for deeper skin tones). I purchased it in the shade F3 (fair skin tones with a neutral/ pink under tones). It is billed as the most hard-working, multipurpose foundation. Perfect for dry to combination skin, this Revolution Pro CC Cream Perfecting Foundation SPF30 offers sheer to full buildable coverage, whilst leaving the skin hydrated and protected with hyaluronic acid & collagen and works to diffuse the appearance of wrinkles whilst offering long lasting coverage that doesn’t feel cakey or heavy on the skin.

What I noticed about this product upon swatching it is that a little goes a long way. I only disbursed 1 pump of foundation and that covered from my knuckles to about an inch past the tattoo on my wrist. It’s high light coverage that builds to almost full coverage with a second layer.

I left the swatch on for 5 minutes to see if it would oxidize and it did not, it also did not set down … so you will need to set this with powder.

Revolution Blusher Reloaded $7 for .26 ounces of product.

This one comes in 12 shades of which I now own 3. This one is in the shade Peaches & Cream. This is billed as having a sheer velvet powder formula.

What I noticed about this product upon swatching it is that this shade is pretty light for my skin tone … I knew it might be … it gives a super cute flush of color but I purchased it as a blush topper for the days that I wear cream blush.

Revolution Blusher Reloaded $7 for .26 ounces of product.

This is the shade Coral Dreams. This one is so much more vibrant than it looks on line. What I noticed about this product upon swatching it is that this one is very pigmented and seams to be a bit less powdery than the Peaches & Cream one is.

Coral is my favorite shade of blush (and lipstick) so I jump at the chance to always pick up a coral shade when I can, and while I already own the shade Rhubarb & Custard (which is a dusty coral shade) I think I truly may have found my perfect coral shade in Coral Dreams.

Makeup Revolution Highlighter Reloaded $7 for .35 ounces of product.

This highlighter comes in 8 shades (of which I now own 2: Dare to Divulge (a deeper champagne) and this new one which is called Just My Type (a softer champagne).

This one is billed as the ultimate glow-up with an intensely pigmented powder that will instantly brighten your complexion. A high-impact finish with a super-flattering shimmer. The silky formula glides onto cheekbones seamlessly.

This is a great highlighter formula and super glowy.

Well dolls…. told ya it was a small order. I did place a few Beauty Buys for this month, some lashes from Obsidian Cosmetics, 2 eye liners from Sephora, and a full complexion purchase from the BECCA website.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good health and spirits.

Remember dolls…. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

The Makeup Marvels Makeup Tag

Published July 1, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I was catching up on some of my favorite YouTuber’s videos (I am very behind in my YouTube subscriptions, I think I’m on my June 19th videos right now, because I’ve just been feeling so crappy with between my Fibromyalgia and my Hashimotto’s and everything and since I typically binge my YouTube subscriptions whilst I’m doing my makeup I really haven’t been able to catch up on the videos… but little by little I am getting through them.

One of my favorite YouTube Channels is Seeking Alexandria. She recently came out with a video where she created a fun 8 topic makeup tag entitled #MakeupMarvels and I though oh wow how fun. We all know by now I love to do makeup tags when ever I can fit them in. So I present to you her tag for my blog ….

*Note: Remember that all swatches are done on bare skin with no primer and in 1 pass …. the picture on either the left or the top will be the picture without flash and the one on the right or the bottom will be the picture with flash …. I do this so you can better gauge the colors.

As I’ve explained there are 8 topics for this tag :

  1. Lady Prime : A primer that actually works

2. Ripe & Hype: Makeup that was actually worth the hype

3. The Late Bloomer: A product you waited to try & then wished you tried sooner

4. Tentative Tingles: A palette you were on the fence about but now are obsessed with

5. Game Changer: It is a product that literally changed how you do your makeup or a part of your routine

6. Lady Lash: A mascara that actually looks like the b*tch on the box

7. Shine & Dine: This is a gloss that is shiny without that fly paper effect

8. Anti Cake: A powder that sets without being all kinds of doughy nasty on your face

Lady Prime : A primer that actually works (I have 2. a regular primer and a pore primer)

Option 1

NYX Angel Veil Primer $16 at Ulta for 1.02 fluid ounces of product and is billed as a lightweight super silky, light and fresh formula that creates a comfortable cushion on your skin and is a smooth, uniform canvas that minimizes shine to enhance makeup application makes everything flawless.

This primer does exotically what it claims to do. This one is a spot on dupe for the Hour Glass Veil Mineral Primer that will set you back $54 for 1 fluid ounce of product, however in my opinion I feel that the NYX Angel Veil Primer is better. It doesn’t give you that white cast to the skin that the Hour Glass one does, doesn’t have that thick mineral scent to it, and is not as thick feeling on the skin.

It just blurs the skin so well. If you compare the picture above to the ones in this picture you can see just how well this primer smooths out the skin.

Option 2

Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer $39 at Ulta for .5 ounces of product and is billed as a melt-in smoothing primer with innovative blurring and filling technology for a youthful appearance perfectly primed for makeup application, a smoothing and filling primer formulated to fade out your biggest beauty boundaries such as large pores, fine lines and wrinkles.

Once again this product does exactly what it says it does. I use it on the apples of my cheeks and the sides of my nose to blur and fill in the pores and between my brows to blur the little 11 wrinkle I have there. I little of this product does go a long way and you do need to be careful not to over use this one because it will pill if you do, but just a pea sized amount leaves my more problematic areas flawless. It also has a mattifing way about it that just leaves my nose perfectly matte all day. (side note the ELF Poreless Putty Primer is a close dupe for this one … not as pore filling and doesn’t really do anything to mask soft wrinkles and is much more emollient than the Tarte one, but it’s a pretty good alternative if you’re on a budget.)

You can truly see just how mattifying this primer is and just how well it blurs all the imperfections.

Ripe & Hype: Makeup that was actually worth the hype

Believe Beauty Skin Finish Foundation $5 for .85 fluid ounces and only sold at Dollar General Stores (here in the states) and comes in 18 shades with about 5 shades for deeper skin tones and is billed as a medium to full coverage foundation that blends effortlessly for a flawless look.

This foundation is everywhere right now. All over Instagram. All over TikTok. Many YouTube creators are raving about it. For very good reason! I have to say I purchased this one full believing I was going to have to throw it out because it wasn’t going to be as good as everyone was claiming it it. Dolls!!! I was so darn wrong about this one!!

This foundation leaves the skin flawlessly glowy and healthy looking. A little bit goes a very long way. I use about 2 1/2 dots the size you see above and that covers my whole face, my ears, and my neck and leaves just enough on my sponge to let me blend any other cream products into the skin seamlessly.

Not only is this the perfect shade for me, it’s my dream formula! Out of every foundation I own …. high end and drug store priced … this is my favorite foundation …. I dare say it may make it into my best and worst products of 2020.

The Late Bloomer: A product you waited to try & then wished you tried sooner

Juvia’s Place The Nubian Palette $20 at Ulta. This palette was launched in 2016 and I did not purchase it until the first part of this year, so 5 years AFTER it was launched.

Juvia’s Place had been on my radar I just didn’t think I would like the shadows because at the time I wasn’t into warm browns and very seldom was I into neutral shimmers.

Darn was I wrong about this palette! This is the palette that sparked my love for this brand in general. I ended up doing a huge purchase after testing out this palette and in fact have about $200 worth of more palettes I’m purchasing tomorrow from the brand.

The mattes in the palette are so buttery and so pigmented and blend like a dream. The shimmers are stunning and long wearing. I so wish I would have tried this brand sooner I would have been hooked from the first swatch and would have been able to collect a lot more than what I have in my collection now.

The shades do not have any names but the shades are:

iridescent pink metallic, tan matte, nude brown matte, champagne metallic, light gold with pink undertones metallic, light gold metallic, antiqued coppery gold metallic, bronzed gold metallic, dark auburn metallic, mid-toned brown matte, dark brown metallic, and a ebony brown matte.

This is just simply put heaven in a palette formula.

Tentative Tingles: A palette you were on the fence about but now are obsessed with

ColourPop Bare Necessities Palette $34 on their website. This is a 30 pan neutral palette. When it first came out it didn’t really spark my interest. It wasn’t until after watching a few YouTube videos about it that I was like, “OK maybe it might be worth a shot”. Still it just looked like a bland palette to me.

When I purchased it and swatched it for my ColourPop haul I was totally hooked. As you can see by the state of my palette, I truly use this one a ton! The shades are amazing and the shimmer shades are so pretty.

I didn’t take a flash and no flash picture of this one since I already had swatches in my media log … the shades from left to right of each picture are:

idol hour (warm ivory with a pale peach sheen- metallic)
in the buff (neutral pale pinky beige – matte)
silk teddy (nude champagne – metallic)
on holiday (soft beige – matte)
rumored (silvery taupe – metallic)
banter (cool toned stone – matte)
full exposé (creamy vanilla – matte)
tease me (pale creamsicle with gold flecks – sequin)
the talk (champagne peachy gold – metallic)
hustler (light peach – matte)
complicated (warm rust brown with gold pinpoints – sequin)
crack on (chestnut brown – matte)
hot gossip (toasted nude – matte)
all 4 u (dusty mauve pink – matte)
designer duds (rose gold pink – metallic)
spree (rosy blush with gold flecks – sequin)
act a fool (dusty mid tone mauve – matte)
cufflinks (rosy purple with a pink sheen – metallic)
haute (terracotta with copper flecks – sequin)
fuzzy (true red copper – metallic)
tabloid (deep caramel – matte)
genie (golden bronze – metallic)
taboo (deep brown – matte)
dutch process (plum brown with silver flecks – sequin)
velveteen (tawny brown – matte)
prix fixe (antique bronze – metallic)
stiletto (warm deep brown with soft gold pinpoints – sequin)
revel (deep red brown – metallic)
baubles (deep cool toned brown with silver flecks – sequin)
spy glass (deep true black – matte)

Game Changer: It is a product that literally changed how you do your makeup or a part of your routine

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand $38 for .40 fluid ounces and is sold on the Beautylish website and also at Sephora. It comes in 2 shades fair/medium and medium/deep. It’s a soft-focus, semi-matte contour wand with sponge applicator.

I purchased this from Beautylish on a whim since I’ve always steered clear of cream based products. I just never really thought they would work for me. But I purchased this and a beauty light wand and have been in love with cream products ever since!

This contour wand was just the right color and consistency for me to dip my toes into the water. It was super easy to blend and made contouring my face a breeze.

As a result of trying, and falling in love with, this contour wand I have now added cream blushes, highlighters, and bronzers to my repertoire of makeup items and I have to say I’ve been loving how my complexion looks more now than I have ever done in the past.

Lady Lash: A mascara that actually looks like the b*tch on the box (I have 2. I can’t help it. I love both of these so much that I just can’t choose and sometimes I even layer them together)

Option 1

I have loved this one for years and years and many many MANY tubes

L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara $8.99 for .23 ounces of products at Ulta.

I have used this mascara for years. I love this one. It was my one and only holly grail mascara for the better part of 6 years. It give volume and length and doesn’t flake. It holds the curl perfectly and when layered with my Option 2 I’ve been asked what false lashes I am wearing.

Option 2

This is a newer mascara to my collection, I think I purchased it in either February or March

Makeup Revolution The Mascara Revolution $10 at Ulta but could not find how much product you get with this one.

I was really thinking I would not like this mascara when I first opened it up because the wand on this one is huge and thick, however it does work well and looks pretty by itself and also layered with my option 1.

This one holds a curl great, also doesn’t flake, and is super black. This one gets me noticed for sure every time I wear it.

Shine & Dine: This is a gloss that is shiny without that fly paper effect

NARS Lip Gloss in the shades Stripe Tease (nude), Turkish Delight (pink sherbet), Chihuahua (guava), and Dolce Vita (dusty rose)

Nars Lip Gloss $24 for .18 fluid ounces of product on their website (they sell some shades at Ulta and Sephora but your best place to find better shades is on the NARS website.)

I use to have a ton of these but I only kept 4 when we moved from our apartment to our house 3 years ago. This is by far my all time favorite lip gloss formula. It is never sticky or tacky. I never get that weird stingy mess between my lips. It never travels outside the lip line and never disrupts any of my lipsticks that I may wear underneath either. The best part is that it has no scent to it either.

I do have plans to restock some of the other shades of this lip gloss because honestly 100 % this truly is my all time favorite lip gloss formula.

Stripe Tease (nude), Turkish Delight (pink sherbet), Chihuahua (guava), and Dolce Vita (dusty rose).

And finally …..

Anti Cake: A powder that sets without being all kinds of doughy nasty on your face

Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Loose Setting Powder $33 for .56 ounces of product at Ulta and Sephora. This comes in 3 shades: translucent, translucent medium, and translucent deep.

Anyone who has been following for anytime could already have guessed this would be my pick for this topic. I freaking LOVE this powder!!! LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! It’s just the most amazing powder I have ever tried! At the start of my blogging life I use to sing the praises of the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder (which I still use from time to time) but ever since this one came into my life I just can’t get enough.

There is some sort of vudo magic in this little powder I’m convinced! (just joking but seriously … it’s something other worldly). It blurs the skin and gives you a soft focus look to the over all complexion. It never looks powdery or dusty, never emphasizes texture or clings to dry patches of skin (when I have it… which isn’t often but on those days I know I can use this powder and will not have a problem with it).

I don’t ever feel like I need to use a finishing spray when I’m wearing this powder. It’s so light weight and buttery smooth and so finely milled that you can even set your under eyes with it. It gives the slightest lilt to the skin too which is super pretty.

Well dolls…. That’s all for this tag …. I had fun putting together my list of 8 products for this tag … what would you chose for your picks for each catagory?

Well I hope you have a great rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

Remember dolls …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

THE DREAM PALETTE CHALLENGE DAY 2 : DREAM SHIMMER PALETTE

Published July 1, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag
This is a challenge that was created by newlipstickclub1 , shimmershanny , and pan.o.ramics on Instagram.

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope.

So we are now on to day 2 of this fun beauty tag …. let’s see what I came up with.

Here is the full Dream Palette Tag provided to me by newlipstickclub1

Day 2: Dream Shimmer Palette: Pick 9 of Your Favorite Shimmer Shades & Swatch Them to Make Your Own Palette!

  • As always the 1st picture will be the picture with no flash and the one on the 2nd one will be the one with flash …. All swatches are done on bare skin with no primer and in 1 pass.

For this palette creation it was so much easier for me than with the matte palette. I adore shimmer but I already knew which were my 9 top favorite shimmer shades.

The shades in my 9 Pan Shimmer Palette would be:

The 1st shade of the Juvia’s Place The Nudes Palette (peachy champagne with silver pin point – metallic). This is my favorite inner corner pop of shimmer. I even love it lightly pressed into the center of the mobile lid.

Soothe Metallic (warm champagne gold – from the Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals Vol. 1 Palette). I just love the whole row of the shade Soothe but this shimmer is so metallic it’s breath taking.

Aura Metallic (champagne – from the Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals Vol. 1 Palette). This is my favorite mobile lid shade when I’m using a camel color in the crease. I’ve even used this shade as a highlight on my nose as well.

The 1st shade of the Juvia’s Place The Nubian Palette (iridescent pink – shimmer). This is just such a pretty shimmer shade. There’s just something about the way it catches the light that just pops so pretty!

Miser (terracotta with blue-green duochrome – metallic – a ColourPop single shadow). This is probably the prettiest metallic shade that ColourPop has ever put out. I love to use this as the blending shade for the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid it gives such an amazing sunset vibe to any subtle look and yet looks amazing mixed into a smokey eye. I also love how in certain lights it looks coral and in others it truly takes on the duo chrome blue green shift.

Marz (icy moss with a silver sheen – metallic – from the ColourPop She Got Solstice Palette). This is the shadow that sparked my intrest for green shadows. I particularly love to pair this one with Miser or with any of my coral shades. I’ve also used this one over top of a deep brown to add a hmmm …. there’s something about that eye …. pop of surprise.

Nefertiti (shimmering 18 k gold – metallic – from the Juvia’s Place The Nubian II Palette). I typically don’t like gold foiled looking shadows but this one is so reflective and so pigmented that it’s just stunning. I’ve been loving to pair it with a deep chocolate smokey eye just right under the lower lash line for that pop of BAM!

Painted Lady ( icy peachy orange – metallic – a ColourPop single shadow). This shadow doesn’t photograph well but it’s such an amazing shade. Yes it’s peachy orange but there is just enough peach in it to have it lean more towards coral than orange. This is another one of those shades I just love to wear as an all over wash of color or in a halo eye look.

Tea Garden (duochrome red with a green gold flip – metallic – a ColourPop single shadow). This shade is so multifaceted that it will keep you guessing as to what shade it actually is. I love this shade in the center of the lower lash line to add that wow factor to a smokey eye. I love it all over the mobile lid. I love it on the middle 1/3 of the mobile … I just simply love this shade.

Well there you have it dolls. My Dream 9 Pan Shimmer Palette…. What are your go to shades you couldn’t live without if you only were able to choose 9 shades for an all shimmer palette?

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good health and spirits.

Remember … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

The Dream Palette Challenge Day 1 : Dream Matte Palette

Published June 30, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag
This is a challenge that was created by newlipstickclub1 , shimmershanny , and pan.o.ramics on Instagram.

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope.

So after posting my Dream Matte Palette from yesterday I had been speaking with newlipstickclub1 on Instagram and turns out there were some rules for the challenge that I didn’t know about. So I thought it would be fun to redo this challenge the right way …. so let’s get started

Here is the full Dream Palette Tag provided to me by newlipstickclub1

Day 1: Dream matte Palette: Pick 9 of Your Favorite Matte Shades & Swatch Them to Make Your Own Palette!

  • As always the picture on the left will be the picture with no flash and the one on the right will be the one with flash …. All swatches are done on bare skin with no primer and in 1 pass.

If I had to (gulp) only chose 9 mattes …. I would have to opt for a basic neutral palette because I feel that I could get the most millage out of a basic neutral matte palette more than if I had fun pops of color mixed in.

The shades in my 9 Pan Matte Palette would be:

Matt Malloy (pure white – from The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude palette), I chose the white shade because it can help me lighten some of the mid tone browns and also act as an inner corner and brow line highlight. I’ve even used this shade to brighten up my under eyes and also as the center spot of my mobile lid for an all matte halo eye.

Here Me Out (white peach – ColourPop single eye shadow), I chose this as my brow bone highlight because it’s just the perfect undertone for my brow line. It’s also stunning on the mobile lid with just a hint of color through the crease.

the 4th shade of the Juvia’s Place The Nudes palette (light rose), I chose this shade because I can’t not have a coral type shade in any palette I own. This is a rose that leans coral and is so pretty as an all over wash of color or even just through the crease with a bit of shimmer on the mobile lids.

Bel Air (cool taupe – ColourPop single shadow), It’s a cool taupe must I say anything else? This is the perfect contour shade for the crease when you don’t want a “makeup” makeup look. It’s also great to help deepen the light rose shade, and it’s a great under eye shade as well.

the 6th shade of the Juvia’s Place the Nudes palette (deep yellow camel), I love me a good camel nude. This one is so simply beautiful all over for a wash of color it also loves amazing paired with the white peach shade.

Maple (yellow based tannish brown – from the Too Faced Born This Way The Natural Nudes Eye Shadow palette ), My all time favorite shade Too Faced has ever come out with! I live for this shade. When I hit pan I will totally repurchase this palette just so I can have this shade still in my life.

Sea Stars (medium yellow brown – ColourPop single shadow),  This shade again is just so beautiful as an all over wash of color with just a pop of shimmer in the middle of the mobile lid. It’s also a great blender shade for deeper colors.

Soothe Matte (camel – from the Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals Vol 1 palette), This has to be the prettiest camel shade I have ever owned. Tati knows what she is doing with her color selection because this palette in general is fire! But soothe is my all time favorite shade of the whole palette.

and the 1st shade of the Juvia’s Place the Chocolates palette (deep chocolate brown). I was torn been between needing a deep brown and a black … but this shade is the perfect amalgamation of the two. It’s deep enough that I just don’t miss having a black matte in a 9 pan palette with this one in it.

Well there you have it dolls. My Dream 9 Pan Matte Palette…. What are your go to shades you couldn’t live without if you only were able to choose 9 shades for an all matte palette?

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good health and spirits.

Remember … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO, Nita
