Published June 10, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I woke up a bit late today (around 11:30 AM) and am feeling a bit better today. I still had to rest a bit whilst doing my makeup but I have a lower pain level today which means the new meds are working.

I didn’t know what direction I was going with my makeup I only new that I wanted a nice berry lip. So let’s jump into today’s Face of the Day …..

Base:

I primed my face using VDL Lumilayer Primer ($32 at Ulta) and also ELF Poreless Putty Primer ($8 at Ulta). My foundation today is Catrice Cosmetics HD Liquid Coverage Foundation ($10.99 on their website) in the shade 030 Sand Beige. I contoured my face using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Medium Deep. I then warmed up the perimeter of my face using NYX Wonder Stick ($9 at Ulta) in the shade Medium.  I highlighted the high points of my face using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Spotlight. I concealed my under eyes using Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Liquid Concealer ($32 at Sephora) in the shade 3.  I set my concealer using ELF Smooth and Set High Definition Undereye Setting Powder ($4 on their website) in the shade sheer and then brightened the under eye area a bit more using aura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($28 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade 1. I set the cream bronzer using NYX Matte Bronzer ($10 at Ulta) in the shade Deep Tan.  I set the cream highlighter using Makeup Revolution Highlighter Reloaded ($7 at Ulta) in the shade Dare to Divulge (rose gold). I then set the rest of the face using  Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta) in the shade translucent. I have chosen the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro-Powder ($45 at Sephora) in the shade Medium 2.

Eyes:

I set my brows using Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel ($22 at Ulta) and filled in my brows using Revolution Pro Define and Fill Brow Pencil ($8 at Ulta) in the shade Dark Brown. I carved out my brow line using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and then primed the rest of my lids using the  P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5. For today’s eye look I used the Juvia’s Place The Nubian 2 Palette ($20 at Ulta). I started with the shade Madagascar (beige matte) through the whole crease up to the brow line. I then set my brow line with Wet n Wild Color icon Eyeshadow Single ($.99 at Walgreens) in the shade Sugar (icy white shimmer). For the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and the outer v of the crease I used the shade Jezebel (maroon matte). For the remaining 2/3 of the mobile lid i used the shade Nefertiti (18k gold metallic). For the lower lash line I used more of the shade Madagascar to create a slight drop shadow and then on the inner 1/3 of the lower lash line I used ColourPop Loose Pigment (no longer sold – was a gift with purchase) in the shade The Dunes (berry pink with gold reflect) mixed with a few drops of Iglot Duraline ($16 on the Beautylish website). I then highlighted the inner corners using Zuri (ivory metallic). I lined my lower waterlines using NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta) in the shade Alabama (muted maroon red). I then coated my lashes with 1 coat of AOA Studio Fat Lash Mascara ($1 on the Shop Miss A website) and then popped on a pair of Obsidian Cosmetics Lashes ($7.99 on their Etsy website) in the style Barbie. I then lined the upper lash line lightly using Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner ($22 at Ulta) in the shade Intense Black.

Cheeks and Lips:

For my blush today i chose NARS Blush ($30 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Dolce Vita (dusty rose matte). I lined and filled in my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil (only sold in the Big Box of Lippie Pencils Vault *limited edition* no loger available) in the shade LBB (rich plum wine) and then topped off the lips using ColourPop Lippie Sitx ($7 on their website) in the shade Songbird (muted berry matte). I finished off my look with Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up The Light Highlighting Palette ($42 at Ulta and Sephora) in the Light color way … I used the middle shade called Soft Focus as a finishing powder.

Final Thoughts:

I really love how this look came out. There’s something magical about gold and red tones together.

I am really loving the lashes from Obsidian Cosmetics. They are hand made and all synthetic. I’ve been able to get 5 uses out of each pair.

I am planing to do a rainbow pride look later this week using the ELF x JKissa Palette… stay tuned for that.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and good health.

Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Peacock Inspired Face of the Day

Published June 9, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I woke up a bit late today… had a hard time staying asleep last nigh, I was in a ton of pain.

I wanted to work with the blues and yellows in the Juvia’s Place The Warrior III Palette today so I came up with this look… I must say it was difficult working with the sky blue and the yellow together … the blue didn’t want to lay down over the yellow and kept getting patchy so I had to improvise and I used the NYX Glitter Glue to get the blue to lay down.

Well … let’s jump into today’s Face of the Day ….

Base:

I primed my face using VDL Lumilayer Primer ($32 at Ulta) and also ELF Poreless Putty Primer ($8 at Ulta). My Foundation is Believe Beauty Skin Finish Foundation ($5 only a Dollar General Stores) in the color Nude. I contoured my face using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Medium Deep. I then warmed up the perimeter of my face using NYX Wonder Stick ($9 at Ulta) in the shade Deep Dark. I highlighted the high points of my face using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Spotlight. I concealed my under eyes using BH Studio Pro Total Coverage Concealer (normally $6 but on sale for $3.60 on their website) in the shade 111 (medium with neutral undertones). I set the cream bronzer using ColourPop Pressed Powder Bronzer ($8 on their website) in the shade Talk to the Palm. I set the cream highlighter using MAC Mineralize Skinfinish ($36 at Ulta) in the shade Soft and Gentle (gilded peach bronze). I then set the rest of the face using  Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta) in the shade translucent. I have chosen the Physicians Formula Natural Defense Setting the Tone Finishing Powder ($14.99 at Ulta) in the shade Light.

For today’s eye look I used the Juvia’s Place The Warrior III Palette ($20 at Ulta and on the Juvia’s Place website). I started by setting the crease to brow line using Wet n Wild Color Icon Single Eye Shadow ($.99 at Walgreens) in the shade Creme Brulee. For my Crease I chose the shade Nzinga (a vibrant true canary yellow matte) and I took it all the way to the brow bone. I then chose the shade Gola (a vibrant sky blue matte) for the untire mobile lid and the outer v of the crease. I had a hard time getting this shade to stick to the yellow so I used a bit of NYX Glitter Glue () and then went back over the outer v again. I then went back over the inner 2/3 of the mobile lid I used the shade Karama (a steel blue metallic). For my lower lash line I created a drop shadow using more of the shade Gola. I then used more of the shade Karama on the inner 1/3 of the lower lash line to add a bit of depth to the look. I highlighted the inner corners using Hikari Creme Pigment ($15 on their website) in the shade Honeydew (a pink with silver reflect metallic). I lined my lower waterlines using ColourPop Lippie Pencil (was only sold in the Big Box of Lippie Pencils Vault and is no longer sold was limited edition) in the shade Whatchamacallit (dusty denim). I created a mini wing Physicians Formula Eye Booster ($11.49 at Ulta) in the shade Ultra Black. I then coated my lashes with 1 coat of Flower Beauty Lash Warrior ($9.99 at Ulta) in the shade fiercest black and then popped on a pair of Obsidian Cosmetics Lashes ($7.99 on their Etsy website) in the style Barbie.

Cheeks and Lips:

For blush today I am using NYX Sweet Cheeks Matte Blush ($7.50 at Ulta) in the shade Citrine Rose (dusty rosy pink). I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil (6 on their website) in the shade BFF (warm nude) and then filled in my lips using the ColourPop Lippie Stix (sold as part of the Big Box of Lippie Stix Vault- no longer available) in the shade Dream Date (pale warm nude).

Final Thoughts:

I feel like I’m finally coming out of my fibro flare …. I’m feeling stronger and the new meds seem to be working.

I really do love this palette …. just wished the yellow and blue would have buffed into each other without going patchy.

I am really loving this nude lip combo … You may see it again soon.

Oh and I won an influencer contest from Obsidian Cosmetics where I got to created 2 of my own eyeshadows !!! That collaboration is coming soon …. stay tuned.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and good health.

Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Bright Glam Face of the Day

Published June 8, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How have you been? Great I hope. I’ve been in a full on fibro flare for 10 days now, but today was the first time I was able to get out of bed. It took me a while to do my makeup because I had to stop a few times to rest… But I was able to get a full on beat face done so that’s a win in my book.

I’ve learned a lot in the 7 days that I took off in support of the Amplified Melanated Voices movement. I’ve reflected and I’ve listened and most importantly I have learned so much. I am very thankful for the experience. I am truly grateful for being able to have the ability to learn so much about this beautiful culture that is the Black community. I have some up coming blog post projects that I am currently working on to help push this movement forward.

For my Crease I chose the shade Kahina (a berry pink matte). I then went into the shade Candace (a vibrant true purple matte) for the outer 1/3 of my mobile lid and the outer v of the crease. Final Thoughts:

Whilst suck in bed this past week I’ve had a long time to reflect on the state of the world right now. I’ve used the time to better educate myself and to support my BIPOC brothers and sisters.

I’ve also taken some time to just recharge my batteries and to take care of myself.

I’ve been in pain my whole life but the pain is the worst during a flare up . I also had almost nonexistent energy so I needed help taking a shower, changing my clothes, cooking, and just everyday tasks that others take for granted.

I’ve lived solely in pajamas, have eaten only soft foods, and basically slept as often as I could to try and help this flare pass…

I feel grateful for the boost in energy that I have today and I am not over doing it today so that I don’t end up in bed again tomorrow.

I was able to shower, change my clothes, and do my makeup with basically little effort (except when I had to rest for a bit) and was even able to cook dinner for my family and make some tiktok cookies.

I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who kept me going whistle in this flare… and for those of you who have checked in on me.

I would also like to welcome some new bloggers to me that have followed me this past week … so thank you to :

Thank you for joining my blog !!!

Well That’s all for now dolls…. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in great spirits and health.

Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Amber Neutral Eye Face of the Day

Published May 26, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I slept in until around 10:45 AM. I’m still in some pain and my energy is pretty low today but I was able to do my makeup, blog a few posts, and cook an amazing dinner … tonight on the menu is Pollo Guisado (stewed chicken over white rice).

Today’s perfume is Marc Jacob’s Daisy Twinkle …. I will be reviewing several of the my new Juvia’s Place items in Final Thoughts….Let’s jump into today’s Face of the Day ….

Base:

I first primed my problematic pore areas with ELF Poreless Putty Primer ($8 at Ulta) and then primed the full face using Dr Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer ($45 at Ulta). I then used the MAC Strobe Cream ($35 for the regular sized bottle at Ulta) in the shade pinklite. My foundation today is Juvia’s Place I Am Magic Foundation $20 for 1 fluid ounce (but on sale for $14 at Ulta and on the Juvia’s Place website) in the shade 650 Alexandria (light skin with neutral undertones). I concealed with 2 dots of Juvia’s Place I Am Magic Concealer $14 for .34 fluid ounces (but on sale for $8.90 at Ulta and on the Juvia’s Place website for $11) in the shade 23. I contoured using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora, on the Beautylish website, and on the Charlotte Tilbury website) in the shade Medium Dark to contour the perimeter of my face and down the bridge of my nose. I highlighted the tops of my cheek bones, bridge of the nose, center of the chin, and high points of my forehead using Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand  ($38 on the Beautylish website, The Charlotte Tilbury website and at Sehora) in the shade Spot Light and then I went in with just a touch of Juvia’s Place The Tribe Highlighter Vol. 3 $12 for .31 ounces of product (on sale at Ulta for $8.40). I set my under eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes ($28 at Ulta) in the shade 1 and then set the rest of my face using the Believe Beauty Matte Blur Loose Powder ($5 only at Dollar General Stores) in translucent. I carved out the brow line using BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and then I primed my lids using P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5. For today’s eye look I used mostly Juvia’s Place The Warrior II palette. I also use a single shadow for the mobile lid. I started by using the Zaz (eggshell white matte) to set my brow line and then went into the shade Kana (rosey dove grey matte) from lash line to brow line. I then went into the shade Yodit (dark mustard brown matte) on the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and the outer v of the crease. For the remaining 2/3 of the mobile lid I used L’Oreal Infallible 24-HR Eyesahdow ($6.46 at Walmart) in the shade Amber Rush (bright rose gold amber metallic). I then went into the shade Kufuru (syrup brown matte) and used it on the very outer part of the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and the very outer of the outer v (making sure not to take this shade into the crease at all). I then went into the shade Daura (salmon coral matte) and buffed in into the middle 1/3 of both mobile lid and the upper crease and then took whatever was left on the brush that I used the shade Kana on and buffed out the edges of the middle 1/3 of the lid. For the lower lash line I first went in with more of the shade Yodit and created a drop shadow that I further intensified with more of the shade Daura and buffed that 1/2 way down the drop shadow and intensified the lash line using more of the shade Yodit. I highlighted my inner corners using more of Juvia’s Place The Tribe Highlighter Vol. 3. I lined my lips and filled them in using NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta) in the shade Whipped Caviar (rosey mauve nude) and topped my lips off using Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Lip Cream ($8.49 at Ulta) Guava Mama (coral).

Final Thoughts: Product Reviews….

I Am Magic Foundation in the shade 650 Alexandria (light skin with neutral undertones). I grade this one an A+:

It’s very pigmented and very little is all that you need. I did 1 1/2 squirts for my face, neck, and ears and still had product left on my palette.

This is an extremely thick foundation but doesn’t feel heavy on the face whatsoever. In fact I don’t feel like I’m wearing anything at all.

Their website says that this is a velvety matte long wear foundation. I agree that it’s matte but I don’t understand why they say it’s velvety… it really isn’t. It’s a true matte foundation and not at all demi-matte as I thought it would be based on my swatch from yesterday’s Ulta Haul .

Like most matte foundations this is a very full coverage one but unlike most matte foundations on me … this one did not emphasize any texture and did not grab at my fine lines.

The shade is a perfect match for me and did not oxidize.

There is no scent to this foundation (a welcomed bonus) and it sets down almost all the way (I did have to powder lightly as there was a slight … very slight tack to the skin after application).

Juvia’s Place continues to surprise me with both their quality and performance of their products.

This is a welcomed addition to my ever growing foundation collection.

I Am Magic Concealer in the shade J23 (for fair skin with neutral undertones) I grade this one an A- :

This one, again, is a very pigmented product that only needs the slightest amount for coverage. I used 1 dab and 1 tiny dot to completely cover my under eyes.

Their website claims this is weightless… It is to an extent. I don’t feel it under my eyes but it is super thick (thicker than the Tarte Shape Tape).

It’s just the right formula of creaminess. It doesn’t sink into the fine lines and it set beautifully.

The reason that I only gave it an A- is because this one does emphasize some texture under my eyes (now this could be the combo of this concealer with the powder that I used, that is plausible).

This concealer did not oxidize at all and is very long lasting. I did not need to touch up at all and I’ve been wearing it for 8 hours now.

This is a pretty good concealer.

Shade Stick Foundation in the color Guinea (dark skin with warm undertones) I grade with one A++:

This one is billed as full coverage …. I find it to be high medium coverage.

This is a creamy formula with little to no slip that does not set down on it’s own.

I purchased this deep shade because I thought it would make a great bronzer …. and it did not disappoint me.

It’s easy to apply and does not disturb the products underneath it and I used a touch more after I powdered my face and it went on beautifully without getting splotchy or patchy.

I don’t have much to say about it because I am only using it as a bronzer so I don’t know what the performance would be as face product but as a bronzer this one is stunning!

I am thinking of picking up shade Tokyo to use as a cream highlight for glam makeup.

The Tribe Highlighter Vol. 3 for light skin. I grade this one an A+++!!!!

This is such a gorgeous highlighter, very reflective.

I didn’t want a full on powerful highlighter so I used a very light hand and dusted it over the high points of my face in circular motions and that made my face glow beautifully!!

This is a finely milled, low kick back, firm pressed powder highlighter.

I already know I more than likely will be reaching for this one a ton… and I will have to force myself to put it away and give some love to my other highlighters …. it’s just the way it works with me when I find a highlighter this amazing.

The Warrior II Palette I grade this one an A+++!!!!

This is an all matte palette.

The shadows are firm pressed in the pans but the they are still buttery.

There was no kickback in the pan… and I mean ZIP!!! There is just something about Juvia’s Place shadows that is magical …. I very seldom come across a shade in their collection that has any kickback whatsoever.

There was also NO FALLOUT on the face either.

The shadows are highly pigmented and buff out effortlessly without skipping or being patchy and they buff into one another without going muddy.

Each shade layers over the top of the others wonderfully.

They do not crease or fade throughout the day … Again I’ve been in my makeup for going on 9 hours now and my eyes are still as vibrant as they were at the start of my makeup application.

This is a great palette to have in my collection and I can get all types of looks form just this one palette and maybe a few single metallic shades for those days that I want a bit of shine.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

Remember dolls …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Chocolate Smokey Eye Face of the Day

Published May 23, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I woke up fairly early today (around 8 AM). I have stiff joints and leg pain today but have pretty good energy levels today.

I wanted a dark smokey eye look so this is what I came up with.

Today’s perfume is Juicy Couture…. Let’s jump into today’s Face of the Day …

Base:

I first primed my problematic pore areas with ELF Poreless Putty Primer ($8 at Ulta) and then primed the full face using Dr Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer ($45 at Ulta). I then used the Pixi by Petra Flawless Beauty Primer ($22 on their website and at Target) as my glow lotion today. For foundation I chose AOA Studio Perfect BB Cream ($1 on the Shop Miss A website) in the shade Medium. I used a bit of Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 on their website and at Target) in the shade Brightening Peach for some light color correction and for concealer I chose Private Society Coveted Concealer ($22 on their website) in the shade Medium. I contoured using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora, on the Beautylish website, and on the Charlotte Tilbury website) in the shade Medium Dark to contour the perimeter of my face and down the bridge of my nose. I highlighted the tops of my cheek bones, bridge of the nose, center of the chin, and high points of my forehead using Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand  ($38 on the Beautylish website, The Charlotte Tilbury website and at Sehora) in the shade Spot Light and then I went in with just a touch of Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up The Light Highlighting Palette ($42 at Ulta and Sephora) in the Light colorway and using the Glow in that kit to set the high points of my face. I set my under eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes ($28 at Ulta) in the shade 1 and then set the rest of my face using the  Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Setting Powder ($33 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. I then topped off  the perimeter of my face using a light layer of Channel Soleil Tan de Chanel ($50 on their website) in the shade Bronze Universal. I also used the Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up The Light Highlighting Palette ($42 at Ulta and Sephora) and using the Soft Focus powder as an all over finishing powder. I chose the Wet n Wild Photofocus Pressed Powder ($5.47 on their website but on sale now for $3.57) in the shade Neutral Beige as my touch up powder for the day.

Eyes:

I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 at Dollar General) in clear and then filled in my brows using Joah Brow Down To Me Precision Brow Pencil ($9.50 on their website) in the shade Brunette. I carved out the brow line using BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and then I primed my lids using P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5 and set the brow line using Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Single ($.99 at Walgreens) in the shade Sugar (icy white shimmer). For today’s look I used the Juvia’s Place The Chocolates palette ( $14 on the Juvia’s Place website). I started in the crease with the 2nd shade of the 2nd row (mustard yellow matte). I then used the 1st shade of the 2nd row (rich warm reddish brown matte) in the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and the outer v of the crease. I then deepened the very outer part of the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and the very outer part of the outer v using the 1st shade of the 1st row (deep chocolate brown matte). For the remaining 2/3 of the mobile lid I used the 2nd shade of the 1st row (warm brown with a brown and silver shimmer metallic) and then went back into the reddish brown to buff out the demarcation line between the outer 1/3 and inner 2/3 of the mobile lid. I created a drop shadow on the lower lash line using more of the mustard yellow shade and then deepened that drop shadow with more of the reddish brown shade. I then took more of the chocolate brown matte shade and deepened the lash line. For my inner corners I used the dazzle shade for the Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up The Light Highlighting Palette ($42 at Ulta and Sephora) in the Light colorway. I tight lined my upper and lower water lines using Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen ($9 at Ulta) in the shade Black Cocoa (a deep brown). I coated my upper and lower lashes in 1 layer of NYX On The Rise Volume Liftscara ($11 at Ulta).

Cheeks and Lips:

For blush today I am wearing Makeup Revolution Blusher Reloaded ($6 at Ulta) in the shade Rhubarb & Custard (coral pink). On my lips today I  lined and filled in my lips using L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Long Lasting Lip Liner ($5.95 on Amazon) in the shade Coral and topped that off with Jouer High Pigment Pearl Lip Gloss ($17 on the Beautylish website) in the shade Sloane (discontinued color… it’s a mid-toned pinkish coral).

Final Thoughts:

I don’t know if I will be doing a Face of the Day post tomorrow or not. We are rearranging our bedroom furniture and my beauty nook and so I’m not sure if I will wake up and do my makeup first or not. If I get up at a reasonable time I’ll maybe do a quick and fuss free look but if not then I will just forgo my makeup so that we can move my bedroom around.

I was thinking of doing a new series called Get Ready With Me … like they do on YouTube, but in print form…. Where I would go step by step in my makeup routine and have pictures that you could follow along with … is that something you would be interested in? I have had a few people say that they like a certain look that I’ve done but that they could never do it or they wished they knew how to do it … so I figured if I did a few step by step posts it might help someone else learn a new makeup technique.

I’m also thinking about doing a few posts showing my full makeup collections piece by piece. I would do a 13 part series …. 1 post per makeup type: primer, foundation, concealer, contour/bronzer, highlighters, face powders ( loose ones too), blush, eye palettes/complete face palettes/single shadows, mascaras, eye liners/ gel liners/pen liners, brow products, lashes,
and setting sprays.

I am still trying to decide how I want my makeup nook to look and how I will organize all of my makeup items now that I have another shelf unit that I can utilize I was thinking of getting rid of the huge baker’s rack that takes up a good amount of real-estate in our room. We will have to see how the resign goes tomorrow. Of course I will post pictures once it’s done.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and good health.

Remember dolls…. Always save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Smokey Gold Eye Face of the Day

Published May 22, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I woke up a bit late today, was up late last night in pain and awoke to even more pain today. It’s been raining for 2 days now here in Florida and that always exacerbates my Fibromyalgia.

For today’s look I used the Juvia’s Place The Warrior ($20 on their website) and The Nudes ($14 at Ulta and on their website) Palettes.

For my perfume I chose Gucci Bamboo…. Let’s jump into today’s Face of the Day……

Base:

I first primed my problematic pore areas with ELF Poreless Putty Primer ($8 at Ulta) and then primed the full face using Dr Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer ($45 at Ulta). I then used the Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($45 at Sephora) in the shade Dew You? as my glow lotion for the day, I used a bit too much so I have a disco ball shine to the skin. My foundation today is ELF Flawless Finish Foundation ($6 on their website) in the color Sand (Light/Medium with neutral undertones). I used a bit of Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 on their website and at Target) in the shade Brightening Peach for some light color correction and for concealer I chose AOA Studio Paw Paw Liquid Concealer ($1.55 on the Shop Miss A website) in the shade Buff.

For today’s eye look I used both the Juvia’s Place The Warrior ($20 on their website) and The Nudes ($14 at Ulta and on their website) Palettes. I started with the Warrior palette and set my brow line using the shade Ahosi (light cantaloupe matte). I then went into the Nudes palette and took the 3rd shade of the 2nd row (a rich terracotta brown matte) and buffed that into my crease into a little of the brow line. I then popped back over to the Warrior palette and took a combo of the shades Mino (dark chocolate matte) and Kano (a yellow based caramel matte) and buffed that into the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and the outer v of the crease. For the remaining 2/3 of the mobile lid I used the shade Dahomey (a russet gold metallic) and then took whatever was left on the outer v brush and biffed it over the line of demarcation between the outer 1/3 and the inner 2/3 of the mobile lid to blend everything together. For the lower lash line I created a drop shadow starting with more of the 3rd shade of the 2nd row of the Nudes palette and then I deepened the drop shadow with more of the shade Kano. I then deepened the lash line with a combo of more of Kano and Mino. I highlighted the inner corners using the 3rd shade of the 2nd row (champagne with a gold reflect metallic) of the Nudes palette. I coated my upper and lower lashes with  The Balm What’s Your Type Mascara ($19 on their website) and popped on a pair of Vegas Nay and Eylure Easy Elegance lashes ($4.49 at Walmart).

Cheeks and Lips:

For blush today I am wearing Makeup Revolution Blusher Reloaded ($6 at Ulta) in the shade Rhubarb & Custard (coral pink). On my lips today I  lined and filled in my lips using NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta) in the shade Whipped Caviar (a coral based nude) and topped that off with Flower Beauty Petal Pout Lip Color ($7.99 at Ulta) in the shade 070 Coral Crush (coral pink satin).

Final Thoughts:

I use to keep the makeup that I’m going to use for the day in this cute little wicker basket, however it’s an old basket and there was some of the strands breaking off the bottom so I decided to replace it because I kept loosing pencils out of the bottom….

I decided to go with an acrylic tray and found this super adorable rose gold one on Amazon ….

C.R. Gibson Rose Gold Acrylic Letter Tray $22.66. The tray is 12″x 10.5″x 3″ and holds all of my makeup items perfectly with room to move around the tray. It’s sleek and looks so pretty at my vanity. The walls of the tray are medium thick and the tray is sturdy and well designed.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

Remember … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Soft Bronze with a Vampy Lip Face of the Day

Published May 21, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I woke up today around 8 AM but didn’t start my makeup until around noon, I made breakfast pizza for my family and than needed to rest a bit before getting my day going.

I didn’t know what dirrection I was going with my makeup look, all I knew was that I wanted to wear my Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in the shade Liquorice (discontinued… the shade is a dark warm burgundy). I hadn’t used it in a while and wanted to see if it was a lipstick I still wanted in my collection …. the answer to that question is YES ….. yes I most certainly want this shade in my collection. Such a pretty vampy lip color.

Today’s perfume is Versace Red Jeans. Let’s jump into today’s Face of the Day…..

Base:

I first primed my problematic pore areas with Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta) and then primed the full face using Makeup Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer ($37 at Sephora) in Smoothing. I then used the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter ($39 at Ulta and Sephora) as my glow lotion for the day. My foundation today is L’Oreal Infallible 24-HR Fresh Wear Foundation ($14.99 at Ulta) in the shade 420 True Beige. I used a bit of Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 on their website and at Target) in the shade Brightening Peach for some light color correction and for concealer I chose Physicians Formula Conceal RX (discontinued) in the shade Natural Light. I then topped off  the perimeter of my face using a light layer of Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer ($15.99 at Ulta).

I carved out the brow line using BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the shimmer side and then I primed my lids using P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5. and then set the brow line using Wet n Wild Color Icon Single Shadow ($.99 at Walgreens) in Sugar (icy white pearl). For today’s eye look I used the Juvia’s Place The Warrior Palette ($20 on their website). I started by laying down the shade Ahosi (light cantaloupe matte) all over the lids from lash to brow line. I then went into the shade Kano (caramel with yellow under-tone matte) into the crease. I then went into the shade Mino (dark chocolate matte) onto the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and the outer v of the crease. I then took a clean fluffy crease brush and buffed the edges of the whole eye. On the inner 1/3 of the mobile lid I used the shade  Amina (an antiqued golden bronze metallic). I then used the shade Benin (golden taupe metallic) over the middle 1/3 of the lid to blend the inner and outer 1/3 together. I created a drop shadow on the lower lash line using more of the shade Kano and then deepened the lower lash line with more of the shade Mino. I then highlighted the inner corners using the shade Moremi (white gold metallic). I tight lined both my upper and lower waterlines using L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Last Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner ($8.99 at Ulta) in the shade Black and Physicians Formula Lash Contortionist Mascara (discontinued).

Cheeks and Lips:

For blush today I am wearing Makeup Revolution Blusher Reloaded ($6 at Ulta) in the shade Rhubarb & Custard (coral pink). On my lips today I  lined and filled in my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil ($6 on their website) in the shade Bichette (deepened red) and then topped off my lips using Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in the shade Liquorice (discontinued… the shade is a dark warm burgundy).

Final Thoughts:

Juvia’s Place The Warrior Palette : I grade this one an A++: The pan size is pretty big which means I wont hit pan on these beautiful metallics any time soon. There was zero kick back in the pans and zero fallout on the face. These shadows are pressed hard but are finely milled. The mattes are on the drier side but buffed out wonderfully without skipping or going patchy and they buff into each other well without going muddy. The metallics are a bit more butterier than the mattes but still on the drier side of metallics that I’m use to and I did notice that, because of that dryness, the metallics seem to emphasize the fine lines on my mobile lid…. nothing too bad, I just took a clean flat shader brush and buffed over the lines to remove the texture. All in all a beautiful palette I wont be able to get many different looks with this palette on it’s own, however I do have other palettes that will pair beautifully with it for more looks…. I can see myself using this palette a ton.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

Remember dolls …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Final Thoughts:

So I have been testing out those products from my last post about the chopping block and I am torn with all 3 mascaras … I really do enjoy them so I do not think I will be decluttering any mascaras….however, so far I do not like 1 of the 3 concealers that I have tried out, and I 1 of the 3 concealers that I’ve tried I’m just OK with so I may have to do a second round of testing to see if I can whittle the chopping block products down further.

Today was the last day for my Mulan palette for now…. I have a few new palettes I would like to start playing with. I was able to get 4 distinctively different eye looks with this palette. I could have done a 5th but I’m just not feeling the ruby red shade this week, so I shall have to play around with this palette again so that I can get into that shade (it truly is a pretty color I just didn’t feel inspired to use it this week).

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

Remember dolls …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Final Thoughts:

20200516_2319069137931464922026715.jpg

Initially I thought I wouldn’t like Matchmaker. It just came across like a shiny bronzer shade … but it does something magical on the checks! I’m not going to lie, I feel like a bronzed goddess in this blush. It’s super pretty and I didn’t need to build it up at all. I just love this collection it’s so beautifully perfected.

So I’ve done 3 looks using all the shade but 4 … I don’t know that I can do a great look with the remaining 4 shades … so I think I will try it before I go to bed to see if I can make it work … If I can I will do a final look tomorrow with it, if I can’t I will be moving on the 1 of my newer Juvia’s Place palettes.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are both in good health and spirits.

Remember … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Taupe Smokey Eye Face of the Day and Fresh Look at My Makeup Collection

Published May 18, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I woke up around 8 AM today refreshed but in pain because it’s raining here in Florida.

This morning hubby surprised me with an amazon gift! He purchased me some new makeup storage units! Now all of my lip pencils have their own place and every palette has it’s own place. Before I was doubling up on slots for my palettes. He purchased me 4 more so now I have a total of 60 slots for palettes. He also purchased me 2 more small compact storage units too but they will not get here until Saturday … but then I will have enough storage units to sort my bronzers, face powders, blushes, and highlighters all in their own units!

Needless to say I spent the morning re-organizing my whole makeup collection … so I thought I’d share how it turned out with you before I start my Face of the Day ….

20200518_1652153274208837976625775.jpg

I took my brush collection off my vanity to make it less cluttered. I now only keep the brushes I’m using for the week on my vanity. I moved all of my face serums and creams to my beauty fridge, and the only makeup I’m currently keeping at the vanity is my daily makeup basket (every night while I do my nighttime skin care routine I collect the makeup I’m going to wear for the next day and put it in this wicker basket). I will be ordering a clear acrylic desk case for my daily makeup to make it streamline with the rest of my collection. I also have a small jar of concealers and mascaras that I am going to force myself to use over the next few weeks to see if they will remain in my collection or not.

20200518_1738536616790861998710015.jpg

I moved all of my palettes (minus the 4 huge palettes that do not fit in the new units) to 2 shelf units that I was given this weekend by a friend. So now I keep all my lip products on the top shelf of this baker’s rack. I keep my bronzers and face powders in the first unit, more face powders and my highlighters and my speaker bomb on the second unit, and all my blushes in the 3rd unit all on the second shelf. On the third shelf I have my 4 big palettes and all of my loose powders in that little letter sorter on the left and then all of my lip pencils and 1 lipstick (that doesn’t fit in the lipstick organizer on the 1st shelf).

20200214_2144232007057741343899802.jpg

I forgot to take a picture of my setting sprays, primers and foundations but this is basically my set up .. I just now have all the shelves completely filled and I’ve organized them a little better now.

20200518_1737371624278967780602053.jpg

I re-organized my right Alex drawer I find that this set up really streamlines and makes the best use of the space in the drawer. I got these containers at Target a few years back. Starting for the left side…. the first little unit holds all of my cream gel pot liners, my glitter glue, and my single shadows. the next unit holds all of my brow pomades, brow pencils, and brow gels. The next unit is smaller in length and holds all of my current mascaras and my open tube of lash glue (next to that unit I have my Neutrogena Glycerin Soap Face Bar that I use when I do the soap brow technique). In the back part of the drawer on the left side I store all my back up mascaras and back up brow pencils. The big unit in the middle of the drawer are all my concealers, under eye correctors, and my contour wand from NYX. In the first unit on the right side I have all of my pencil eyeliners (sorted by color, with all of my beige pencils on the top, color pencils next, brown pencils next, and finally all the black liners on the bottom. The final unit on the right is a plastic drawer organizer I had left over from my craft room and it holds my lash primers, a few backup pencil eyeliners, and my backup lash glues.

20200518_1737016178182116512768519.jpg

In the left Alex drawer I organized my false lash collection…. I decluttered a heap of lashes that I just knew I wouldn’t ever use. I also keep my pencil sharpener in this drawer along with the my charger for my face fan that I use to dry my setting spray and lash glue, my 2 false lash cases, and then all the way in the back I have my homemade rice powder for exfoliating and homemade rice powder for my honey and rice powder mask, along with 2 other face masks, and a case of collagen eye patches.

These 2 shelf units were given to me by a friend over the weekend. they are a little scuffed up and not the right color for my room but I plan to refurbish them in the next couple of weeks. On the top I have my makeup brush collection, the Disney anniversary plate that my hubby gifted to me when we went to Disney for our anniversary, my perfume tower and then my Light Lacquer nail polish collection.  On the first shelf of each unit I have 2 of the new palette units hubby purchased for me and the ones in the middle were my original palette units. These units can be stood up or laid flat like you see here. Each unit holds 10 palettes, I have mostly eyeshadow palettes in these units but I do have a few smaller face palettes peppered throughout. I will be ordering some new drawer units and an false lash unit so I will be moving my lash collection to the next shelf row and then I will be using the lash drawer for something else.

For today’s perfume I am wearing Marc Jacobs Daisy Twinkle. So, let’s get into today’s Face of the Day ….

Base:

I first primed my problematic pore areas with Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta) and then primed the full face using Makeup Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer ($37 at Sephora) in Smoothing. For today’s foundation I am wearing AOA Buildable Satin Foundation Drops ($1.88 on the Shop Miss A website) in the shade 305 pure beige. I chose not to add a glow primer today. I contoured using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora, on the Beautylish website, and on the Charlotte Tilbury website) in the shade Medium Dark to contour the perimeter of my face and down the bridge of my nose. I highlighted the tops of my cheek bones, bridge of the nose, center of the chin, and high points of my forehead using Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Glowgasm Light Wand ($38 on the Beautylish website, The Charlotte Tilbury website and at Sehora) in the shade Goldgasm and then I went in with just a touch of Benefit Boxed Highlighter ($30 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade cookie to set the high points of my face. I concealed my under eyes using Dermablend Cover Care Full Coverage Concealer ($28 at Ulta) in the shade 15N (fair/light skin with neutral undertones). I chose not to use a cream bronzer today. I then topped off  the perimeter of my face using a light layer of MAC Mineralize Skinfinish ($36 at Ulta and MAC) in the shade Give Me Sun (light smmer peachy tan). I chose the Flower Beauty Light Illusion Perfecting Powder ($13.99 at Ulta) in the shade Beige L4-M1.

Eyes:

I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 at Dollar General) in clear and then filled in my brows using Joah Brow Down To Me Precision Brow Pencil ($9.50 on their website) in the shade Brunette. I carved out the brow line using BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and then I primed my lids using P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5. and then set the brow line using Wet n Wild Color Icon Single Shadow ($.99 at Walgreens) in Sugar (icy white pearl). For today’s eye look I used the new ColourPop Mulan Palette ($22 on their website). I started with the shade Imperial (nude taupe matte) all through the crease up to the brow line. I then went into the shade Honor (cool deep brown matte) on the outer 1/3 of the mobile lids and the outer v of the crease. I then went into the shade Warrior (warm terracotta undertone with silver/ green/ gold duo-chrome effect metallic) over the remaining 2/3 of the mobile lids. I then went over the outer 1/3 of the mobile lids again with more of the shade Honor to blend out the demarcation of the inner 2/3 of the mobile lid. I then intensified the very outer part of both the outer 1/3 and the outer v of the crease using the shade True (cool blacked brown matte). I highlighted my inner corners using the shade Like A Girl (silver taupe metallic). For the lower lash line I created a soft drop shadow using more of the shade Imperial. I deepened the drop shadow using more of the shade Honor and then deepened the lash line with more of the shade True. I then took a clean fluffy blender brush and buffed over the whole look to blend and soften the whole eye look. I tight lined my upper and lower waterlines using L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Last Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner ($8.99 at Ulta) in the shade Black and then created a micro-wing on the upper lash line using Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner ($22 at Ulta) in the shade Intense Black (jet black). I coated my upper and lower lashes with Physicians Formula Lash Contortionist Mascara (discontinued) in the shade Ultra Black. I popped on a pair of ObsidiancosmeticsUS  handmade false lashes ($7.99 on her Etsy shop) in the style Beauty Queen.

Final Thoughts:

20200518_1601082697435405718386680.jpg

I purchased 3 styles of handmade false lashes from Obsidian Cosmetics US’s Etsy shop and I am so in love with them!!! The 3 styles I purchased was Barbie, Beauty Queen (the pair I am currently wearing), and Princess.  These are some super great quality synthetic fiber lashes! The bands are light and thin, the lashes themselves are extremely soft and light weight, they were easy to apply, and I did not have to cut them down at all. I can honestly say that Beauty Queen is hands down my favorite style of lashes I have ever tried! I so have to purchase more before she runs out! I would give these products a grade of A+++!!! They came super quick and packaged so cutely. I love indie brands and love to support home grown companies anytime I can and am very pleased with this purchase. Highly recommend this Etsy Shop.

I am still awaiting my NYX order … It’s taking forever but I do understand that with this Covid-19 thing happening that the processing time is going to be slow.

Whilst I was re-organizing my makeup collection I set aside a few concealers and mascaras that I haven’t been liking much. I want to test them out over the next few weeks to see what if any I will be keeping or getting rid of…. more to come in a separate post about this.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health. Remember … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
