Eye Brows and Lashes 2 Month Check In

Published May 17, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I can’t believe it’s been 2 months since I started my brow and lash growth journey … so here is my 2 month check in….

My Left Brow after 1 month on Jamaican Black Castor Oil – April 2020

My left brow after 2 months on Jamaican Black Castor Oil – May 2020 : There is hair growth and the tail is getting just a bit thicker and the front of my brow is finally starting to lay flat. There isn’t as much difference as I had hoped but I have been sleeping on my sides instead of my back like I was in April … I may have to start sleeping on my back again to see if I can get the growth to kick start again.

My right Brow after 1 month on Jamaican Black Castor Oil – April 2020

My right brow after 2 months on Jamaican Black Castor Oil – May 2020. There is hair growth in the  tail, more than last month. The front of the brow is laying flatter and the arch is starting to grow more hair … better results than last month.

My left lashes after 1 month on Jamaican Black Castor Oil – April 2020

My right lashes after 2 months on Jamaican Black Castor Oil – May 2020. The lashes have now started to curl and have gotten thicker and fluffy. My lower lashes are longer however they seem to be thinning. I’m not sure if this is due to that fact that I have been sleeping on my sides in stead of my back … I may have to go back to sleeping on my back again.

Eye Brows and Lashes 1 Month Check-in

Published April 14, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night? Great I hope. Can you believe it’s been 1 full month since I started this brow growth journey? Just as a recap … I have been using IQ Natural Jamaican Black Castor Oil ($12.99 on Amazon) every night in my brows and lashes to help promote hair growth.

When I first started this journey I was skeptical that I would see any results… but fast forward to 1 month later and color me impressed! So let’s take a look at the differences.

BEFORE PICTURE: My right eye lashes … stubby and areas are missing lashes … and the lashes clump together

20200413_224719 (1)

1 MONTH LATER PICTURE: My right lashes considerably longer and the lashes no longer clump together… I’ve also noticed that I have hair growing at the beginning of the lash line, I never had hair there.

20200414_141837 (1)

BEFORE PICTURE: My left lashes…. stubby and clumped together… and am missing some lashes at the end of the lash line…

1 MONTH LATER PICTURE: My left lashes … longer and fluffier and are starting not to be clumped together … this eye the lashes are still a bit clumped together but they are starting to grow separated from one another.

BEFORE PICTURE: My right brow, the full brow line is sparse and I have no hair at the arch and almost no hair in the tail. The front of my brows the hair doesn’t fluff up and even with brow gel I cant get them to stay in place.

I MONTH LATER PICTURE: My right brow, The whole brow line is much fuller and the brow hairs are now starting to lay in the right direction, there is a ton more hair in the tail and hair has started to grow in my arch.

BEFORE PICTURE: My left brow, the full brow line is sparse, though not as sparse as the right brow and I have no hair at the arch and only 2 hairs in the tail. The front of my brows the hair doesn’t fluff up and even with brow gel I cant get them to stay in place.

1 MONTH LATER PICTURE: My left brow, the whole brow line is fuller… the hairs are starting to lay fluffier, there is a ton of hair in the tail now and the arch is starting to fill in nicely.

After only 1 month I can see a bit difference! I am super impressed. I will continue to use the Castor Oil every night for the next 5 months … I feel that 6 months total of every night use should be sufficient to get my brows and lashes to the fullness that I am after…after the 6 months are up I will switch to 3 times a week.

Well that’s all for now dolls… Hope you have a great rest of your day/night. Remember dolls … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Quick Change In My Skin Care Routine

Published April 5, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great day/night. I’m just popping in with a quick update to my ever evolving skin care routine.

I noticed, now that I double cleanse my skin, that I have been going through my Bioderma a lot faster  than I use to. So I set out to try and minimize the amount of product I used by using something different to take off my makeup.

I tried makeup remover wipes but they irritate my skin so then I thought i would try using baby wipes to remove my makeup …. this worked better but still I wasn’t happy with the amount of waste I had …. baby wipes are not bio-degradable… so I set out to do some research ….

I came across a few videos of YouTubers that swore by the Face Halo brand. So I jumped on Amazon and purchased a pack of 3 for $30.

It’s softer than a washcloth

The direction say to wet it with warm water and use it to remove your makeup and then simply wash it with soap in warm water and hang to dry….

This has been working for me so well that I am thinking of purchases a few more.

I also wanted to show you what hubby did for me while I was sleeping yesterday…. He moved all of my sewing stuff into one of our spare rooms and created a sewing room for me!!! He is such a sweet, loving, amazing husband.

Well that’s all for now dolls. Stay safe out there and remember ….. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Warning About Exfoliating Your Lips!!!

Published April 4, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

a few months ago I purchased one of these to exfoliate my lips daily. I got mine off Amazon for $6 and thought this was the best thing on the planet…..

Hey doll hey!! How are you doing today? Great I hope. Well…. I come to you with a caution about exfoliating your lips daily and or being too rough on your lips!

I use one of those double sided silicone exfoliating brushes. I use to use it daily on just the small nub side …. but I had forgotten to exfoliate my lips in about 2 weeks … so I used first the bigger nib side and then I went back over my lips using the smaller nib side … I noticed I had a ton of dead skin sloughing off so I decided to rub it a bit more and I applied a bit too much pressure.

I now have a sore patch of skin on my upper lip. It hurts a heap and the only thing i can think to do is apply some neosporin and give it time to heal.

So I’m coming to you with a caution … when exfoliating your lips use only the gentlest of pressure and do not exfoliate for more than 1 minute… even if you having gotten all of the dead skin off in the first go …. leave it for the next day ….this way you don’t end up with a nasty abrasion on your lip too.

Well that’s all for now dolls …. hope all is well …. Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Week 1 Brow and Lash Update

Published March 22, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great night/day.

I’m coming to you with an quick update on my journey to fuller brows and lashes.

As you may have read in my post about me using black castor oil to aid in the growth of my lashes and brows …. I said I would update you weekly as long as I started to see improvement.

Well…. to my surprise (I went into this a bit sceptical) I have new hair growth on both my brows…. I am not really seeing a big difference in my lashes other then the fact that my lashes are now all growing upward and uniform instead of dropping and in different directions. But I did compare them to the day 1 photos and it does appear that there is in fact growth.

For my left brow I did not have hair at the tail and there was a bald spot at the arch. I now have hair growing at the tail and for the first time in about a year and 1/2 O finally have haor growth at the arch… its not a heap of long hair but when I touch it I can feel that hair has staryed to grow… its peach fuzz right now …. but it’s growth nonetheless. For my righr brow again I did not have hair at the arch and I can actually see that hair has grown at the arch as well as in the tail section.

My left brow and lashes. The lashes when compared to the first day photos do look a bit fuller and a tiny bit longer but what you can see is that there is hair at the tail and the arch appears to have hair growing
The biggest improvement by far is the right side. My lashes are in fact longer but still a little sparse…. this maybe because I had to scrub this eye a bit to get lash glue off 3 times this week so I kay have lost a few lashes. You can clearly see that my tail of the brow has longer and fuller growth and the archnow has hair where it did not have much hair on day 1.

So, so far I am seeing something happening …. I will update you again next week.

Well that’s all dolls…. stay safe and have a great rest of you night/day.

Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

My Updated Skin Routine

Published March 20, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! Hope your night/day is going great. Just popping in to updaye my skin care routine…. I added just 2 things to my routine but wanted to tell you about it…. let’s jump into it.

A.M. Routine: Instead of just cleansing with my Bioderma and then jumping into my serums and moisturizers I now double cleanse my face and neck.

I first cleanse my face and neck using a reusable bamboo facial pads. I use Bioderma both day and night.
For my second cleanse, currently, I am using Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Cleansing Gel (I purchased mine at Ulta 2 years ago but only now have staryed to use it… it’s discontinued but can be found for $28 on Amazon) which I use with my Clarisonic ( I had purchased mine at Sephora for $60 but this model is now discontinued but can be found on Posh Mark…. and there are upgraded versions sold at Sephora).
I put my face serum on with my face still damp… I find that it sinks into the skin better that way. I only have to use a nickle sized dollop of this serum. I use this serum both day and night. I purchase mine through Amazon for $35 however it is also sold at Ulta.
I use this eye serum both day and night. I purchase mine of Amazon for $25 but you can also find it at Ulta. I use a pea sized amount for both eyes and I use it on my lids and my under eyes.
I ise this eye cream both day and night. I get mine from Amazon for $19 but you can find it at Ulta too. I use a pea sized amount for both eyes and I use it on my lids and also my under eyes.
Obviously I use this only for day time. I get it for $24 on Amazon but it can be found at Ulta too. I just dab my finger into the jar and get about a quarter sized amount out. This is enough to cover my full face and neck.
I purchased this lip exfoliating brush off Amazon for $8 and I use it every morning right after I double cleanse my skin.
This is the only lip balm I will ever use. This stuff is so good. It has a thick lip mask like feel to it but it does sink into the lips perfectly. I purchase mine for $12 for a 4 pack off Amazon. I use it both day and night.

For the night time routine with the Bioderma I use 3 facial pads… 2 to get off all the makeup and the 3rd one to cleanse my face and neck and then I go in with my Clarisonic and Clinique cleanser. I use the 2 serums and the eye cream and the lip balm and then I use the night face cream.

This is the night cream I use. I get it for $21 on Amazon but you can find it at Ulta. I do the same as with the day cream… I dab my finger in and get a quarter sized dollop and that is enough for my full face and neck.
Lastly, as I explained in my Road to fuller brows post , I use this black castor oil in both my brows and my eye lashes. Every night.

Well that’s it dolls. I have been toying with maybe adding a few face masks into the routine… I just don’t know where to start when it comes to face masks…. I’ll have to do some research and if I do start to incorporate them into my routine I’ll update my blog with it.

Hope you have a great rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and are healthy. Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Olaplex Hair Care Review

Published December 12, 2019 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hi dolls! Hope you are having an amazing day. The day has FINALLY arrived! I received all my Olaplex hair care products.  My hair was in dire need!!! Thanks for sticking with me through all the bad hair days. Let’s jump into the review. Let me remind you what my hair looked like BEFORE I treated myself to my Olaplex routine.

My hair freshly blown out before Olaplex.

Yikes!! I know, I know …. horrid isn’t it?

Let’s start with what Olaplex is…  It’s a line of hair repair products that helps re-bond your hairs structure. It’s particularly helpful for people with dry damaged hair from bleaching and color treating.  If you remember a while ago I posted about how I destroyed my hair with bleaching and had to shave my head because clumps of hair was falling out. What I never told you was that the hair that grew back was brittle, broken, and dry.

I started using Olaplex around the time that my hair grew into a cute pixie, and I haven’t stopped since.

I am obsessed with the Olaplex No. 3. I didn’t know until late November that there was a whole system that you could buy.  I am so glad I found out. My hair hasn’t looked better in years!!!

I start by washing my hair with No4 – Bond Maintenance Shampoo ($28 for 8.5 fluid ounces). It is billed as being a product that  Protects and repairs damaged hair, split ends and frizz by re-linking broken bonds. A highly-moisturizing, reparative shampoo that leaves hair easy to manage, shiny and healthier with each use. What I do is shampoo my hair with a plum pit sized dollop on No4, but I leave the shampoo in my hair until I’m done with my shower, I don’t know if it really matters or not but I think it strips all the junk from my hair better this way. Then I rinse and towel dry my hair.  I use a plum pit sized dollop on No3 and work it into my hair. It is billed as a treatment, NOT a conditioner that reduces breakage and visibly strengthens hair, improving its look and feel. Normally I leave it in for 30 minutes, but today I only had enough time for 10 minutes. I comb my hair with a shower comb and then rinse my hair out. I wring my hair out and use No5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner ($28 for 8.5 fluid ounces). It is billed the same and says that it Strengthens & leaves hair stronger than ever. I let it sit in my hair for 5 minutes and then I rinse my hair completely out.

Now because I have curly hair I use an old tee shirt to dry my hair instead of a towel. I put my hair up in the tee shirt and while that’s soaking up some of the water I put my serums and creams on my face. Then I use No6 Bond Smoother and No7 Bonding Oil. I take a quarter sized dollop of No6 Bond Smoother ($28 for 3.3 fluid ounces) billed as A leave-in reparative styling creme eliminates frizz, hydrates & protects all hair types, strengthens, hydrates, moisturizes and speeds up blow-dry times while smoothing (it also says it eliminates frizz and flyaways for up to 72 hours, I just started using this so I don’t know for sure if it helps with fly aways yet)  and 5 drops of No7 Bonding Oil ($28 for 1 fluid ounce), billed the same way and also says that it Provides heat protection of up to 450°, this is good because when I do flat iron my iron is set at 410, and mix them together in my palms, then I run it through my hair from mid shaft to ends, concentrating on my ends since this is where my hair is the driest.

Then I put my hair up into a bun and do my makeup. When my makeup is done it’s time to work on my hair.

I blow dry my hair using a Bore’s hair brush and then I press my ends with a flat iron (this step isn’t needed as my hair will always be straight and silky when I use No6 and No7, but I do it because I want to make sure my ends stay straight.

I typically do this to my hair 2 times a week (except this week because I had to wait for my new products to arrive) and I wont have to straighten my hair at all during the week. The products typically last me between 4 to 6 months (sometimes I have to use more product because my hair is so dry and damaged that there are times that it needs a bit more TLC). I paid total $112.00 plus shipping.

So now for the big reveal…..

My hair after Olaplex treatment, just blow dried out.

I did not use my flat iron today because I’m in too much pain to use my flat iron.  I have some breakage at the crown of my head so I have some fly away hairs. I am still on the hunt for something that will help with the fly aways.

My hair feels smooth, nourished, and healthy.

I give this product an A+++!!!  The shampoo and conditioner have a fresh scent , not perfumed like basic shampoos and conditioners. No3 has a familiar scent that I can’t place, but it’s not overly perfumed.

No6 & No7 have a nice natural scent.

Final Thoughts….

The Olaplex system is well worth the splurge. The bottles are no frills, just a plastic bottle with a plain label. At first use you can tell that the people at Olaplex spend their over head on the quality of their product.

I would recommend this product to anyone who’s hair needs to be revived. I’ve noticed that I loose less hair in the shower now, my hair has gotten stronger and happier too.

Well that’s all for now dolls,

Remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Cutting Corners When Spoons Are Gone

Published November 29, 2019 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Why hello there gorgeous, hope your day is going good.

I woke up this morning with so much energy ; yes the spoons were flowing today ; but by 6:00 pm I was totally ready to lay down. My spoons ran for the hills. This left me with a dilemma, feeding my family. I wanted so bad to just say “Let’s have sandwiches for dinner tonight” but I couldn’t bring myself to subject my family to a packed lunch for dinner, so I put on my big girl pants and pushed through the exhaustion.

I made streak and pasta for dinner and my secret weapon was the fact that the steaks were thin so they cooked fast and I used a boxed pasta that I hadn’t tried before.

I purchased this for 98 cents at Walmart

This little gem not only makes it’s on sauce, it cooks in 10 minutes!!!

From start to finish dinner took me 10 minutes total we had a full meal … steak, salad, and pasta and it was tasty!!

I was so exhausted that I forgot to take a plated picture but believe me when I say  it was tasty.

We, as spoonies, often give ourselves too high of an expectation when it comes to taking care of our families that we forget that taking short cuts is in fact acceptable.

My family loved dinner tonight and I barely had much to do. I guess what I mean to say is don’t forget that you can take the easy way around when handling responsibilities. Our illnesses take so much from us, don’t let them take everything from us.  It is 100% acceptable to cut corners when you spoon supply is running low!

Baby steps …. that’s the key.

Well ta ta for now dolls. Remember to save a spoon or two for a bit of lipstick.
