Radiofrequency Ablation Update

Published December 20, 2019 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hi dolls. So it’s the day after my Radiofrequency Ablation procedure and I am st ill hurting pretty badly.

The day of the procedure was pretty intense. It started with anesthesia team. They had a hard time putting a line in. My veins kept collapsing. It took 7 tries to finally get a line put in and that line was in my wrist…. boy did that hurt. Today my veins are all bruised and sore and the site on my wrist is very tender.

Next instead of putting my under right away they gave me local anesthesia , this way I could still be awake when the probes were in place to make sure they were in the right position. When the probes hit the nerve that is to be burned it stings a little… it was very uncomfortable.  They then injected me with a numbing agent which burns when it goes in.

Then I am put under anesthesia and don’t remember anything until I was back in my room with the nurse standing over me asking if I’d like some apple juice. I didn’t feel any pain just then because the numbing agent was still working.

The car ride home was a bit uncomfortable. Every pothole killed me. Then it was off to bed. For some reason after anesthesia I sleep for a few hours when I get home.

When I woke up I could feel the pain… and boy was there pain…. I had to lay on my side to keep from aggravating my procedure site. The pressure I felt was intense, even laying on the other hip I felt the pressure.

I tried a ice pack but that just made the pain worse so I just chose to ride out the healing process.

I babied myself the whole day, resting and binge watching the DC Universe’s Titans. I fell asleep for the night around 11 (it was hard to get to sleep because of the pain).

Flash forward to this morning. I woke up hurting because somehow in the middle of the night I had flipped over onto the side I get the procedure in. I needed my husband’s help to get out of bed today and to shower because I can’t bend over just now.

I decided to do my makeup anyway, and that took forever because I had to stop and rest for a little because the pressure on my hip area was bad.

Today I will baby my hip to give it just 1 more day to heal, normally I am not hurting this bad the day after Radiofrequency Ablation …. it has to be that I was sleeping on the site, but it is what it is and I’ll just have to round with the punches.

Today I can take some Tylenol for the pain, which I have already done and I will rest the rest of the day.

By tomorrow I will be feeling much better and by Sunday I will be able to bend all the way over and touch my toes.

Yes, there is a ton of pain that comes with Radiofrequency Ablation , but the outcome (after the healing) is so worth the little bit of time I spend in pain. I’m able to have mobility and I’m able to sit up for the most part.

The days before having Radiofrequency Ablation I couldn’t sit up right for more than an hour at a time without hurting so much.

Radiofrequency Ablation definitely gives me a better quality life.

Well that’s all for now dolls, hope your day is good.

Remember save a spoon for a bit of makeup.

No Face of the Day Today Because ….

Published December 19, 2019 by aspooniesmakeupbag

**** I am writing this at 4 pm on Tuesday since I will be unable to sit up after my surgery, I wanted to make sure that you knew about the procedure and the reason there will not be a face of the day post on Thursday. ****

Good morning beauties. I will not be doing a face of the day today. I am having Radiofrequency Ablation today and will be in pain after the surgery.

Basically my pain management doctor will be going in and burning the nerves in my lower back near my hips to help reduce the pain I get from the Fibromyalgia.

They give me anesthesia and once I’m under they take small electric rod needles and place them near my spin where the nerves are. They send and electric pulse through the needles into the nerves and that burns the nerve severing the nerve and allowing me to feel pain free in that area for 6 months. Well, basically pain free anyway. If I am standing or sitting for too long I still feel pain in that area, but at least for the most part I am pain free in the hip area.

This procedure only lasts 6 months, so every 6 months I have to undergo a new round of Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA).

I am very grateful for our health insurance as for the most part I do not pay anything to have it done. However if I haven’t hit my out of pocket expenses for the year the RFA does cost $100 a round and I get 2 done… 1 hip gets done at a time to allow me to have mobility while I heal from the surgery.

This is an out patient surgery and the recovery time is very fast… I’m normally in pain the whole rest of that day and most of the day after. I do get minimal bruising that typically goes away after a day or two.

For any of my fellow spoonies out there who suffers from lower back pain that radiates out toward the limbs I would recommend this procedure 100%!!

My quality of life has improved so much since I have been doing the RFA.

I’ve been getting it done for 3 years now. At first they didn’t use anesthesia, they would use a local anesthetic, so I was awake during the procedure. They would inject the anesthetic right into the nerve so it hurt a little while they did this, it also hurt when the injection rods were placed into the nerve ending…. but after the rods are in place it didn’t hurt as much.

For a Fibromyalgia spoonie we feel pain on a whole other level, so the pain I felt during the surgery was nothing compared to the pain I felt without taking treatment.

For more information on RFA talk to you pain management specialist. You can also get the gist  of what RFA is here -> RFA on Web MD

For those of you suffering with pain due to Fibromyalgia or Lupus or any other spoonie illness looking for a good pain management center that treats your symptoms without throwing more pain meds at you … If you live in the Orlando Florida area I recommend Florida Pain Relief Group  .

Well that’s all for now loves …. I hope you are finding the day with plenty of spoons and as pain free as you can be.

Remember dolls always save a spoon for a bit of lip gloss….

XOXO

Cover FX Custom Cover Drops Follow Up

As promised I revisited the Cover Fx Custom Cover Drops.

Today I tried them with Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer mixed in. I used 5 drops with 3 pumps of primer. Right off the bat I realized this was way too much product. Hey, there is a learning curve with this product. I used way too much primer and ended up having to throw away a ton of product.

20191210_141925

With the drops you control how pigmented your foundation will be. The more drops you use the more coverage you get. With 5 drops of pigment drops I got a full coverage foundation. Mixing it in with my primer gave me a demi-matte finish. The down side to using the Mineral Veil Primer was that since I was already using a primer I couldn’t use a primer to blur my pores which I didn’t mind so much since I am staying home today anyway.

I think I have it figured out now. The more drops I use the less mixing product I need.

Yesterday I said I didn’t like this product and gave it a solid C-. I said I liked the original more than the new one.

Today …. I have changed my mind. After retrying this product today I love the new formula much more than I do the older formula. It’s dewier, more pigmented, and a spot of match for my skin.

I didn’t realize that the new drops are more pigmented until I mixed my foundation today.  5 Drops of the older formula gave me a medium light coverage. 5 drops of the new formula gave me full on coverage, yet my skin still looks like skin. I really enjoy the finish.

I would give this product a A-. I only gave it an A- because the bottle is smaller than the original was. I would be willing to pay a little extra for the bigger bottle. I love these drops so much that I want to wear them all the time now. But with the smaller bottle that means repurchasing at a faster rate.

Final Thoughts …. Cover FX Custom Cover Drops are amazing. This is why I try never to do a first impression post because you never know ,until you retry something a second time, whether or not you truly like the product.

Well that’s all for now dolls. Remember save a spoon for a bit of makeup.

XOXO
