My Ultimate Dream Matte Palette (Revised)

Published June 29, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m very low on energy the past few days. Turns out my Hashimoto Syndrome is acting up and my Thyroid and Kidney functions are really low. The doctor changed my meds again to try and help my Thyroid and Kidneys start to improve but until the meds start to work I’ll be low on energy, more than when it’s just the Fibromyalgia giving me trouble, so I probably wont be able to do my makeup for a few more days or so. With that said I came across this really cool makeup challenge from fellow word presser Katie of KatieEmma Beauty , who by the way is an amazing beauty blogger! Her blog is just chalk full of amazing reads…. seriously you should go check her out. She found this challenge on Instagram and the original creators of this challenge are newlipstickclub1 , shimmershanny , and pan.o.ramics .

This is an 8 day challenge that centers on you creating your dream palette of the day …. the day assignments are:

Day 1: Dream Matte Palette
Day 2: Dream Shimmer Palette
Day 3: Dream Nude Palette
Day 4: Dream Color Palette
Day 5: Dream Face Palette (using eyeshadow only)
Day 6: Dream Monochromatic Palette
Day 7: Dream Eyeshadow Palette
Day 8: Dream Eyeshadow Palette (using non-eyeshadow)

So let’s start with Day 1: My Dream Matte Palette….

  • PLEASE NOTE: I was contacted by newlipstickclub1 and she actually gave me the rules for this challenge … so I have decided to rename this post and start the challenge over.

Anyone who knows me knows I love bigger palettes and I also love matte shadows, they are my all time favorite shadows so for me to have my ultimate dream matte palette it would have to be a huge palette.

I put together my dream palette on Friday but had a hard time whittling it down to a smaller size …. by Sunday night I was able to whittle it down to 69 shades…. but this is the smallest I am willing to go with my dream palette… ultimately I would probably add 1 more shade to round it out to an even number but really these 69 shades are my ultimate dream palette to own, I really could not have a dream palette without all these shades in the palette….

*REMEMBER, when I do swatches , I always do my swatches on clean bare skin with no primer and in 1 pass…. also I always take a picture of the swatches with and without flash so that you can get a true sense of the colors …. the pictures without flash will be on the left and the ones with flash will be on the right or the ones with no flash will be on top and the ones with flash will be on the bottom*

My first row of my dream mattes palette would be:

Matt Malloy (pure white from The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude palette), Matt Lombardi (creamy camel tan from The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude palette), Canvas (creamy vanilla from the ELF Retro Paradise palette), Here Me Out (white peach ColourPop single eye shadow), Fresh (flesh tone from ELF Opposites Attract palette), Weekender (slightly deeper flesh tone from the Urban Decay Born to Run palette), the 4th shade of the Juvia’s Place The Nudes palette (light rose), Fuego (pastel coral from the ELF Retro Paradise palette), Sassy (coral from the Opposites Attract palette), and Nekkid (warm light orange coral from the ColourPop Double Entendre palette).

My second row of my dream mattes palette would be:

Charge It (soft rosy pink ColourPop single shadow), Cut Outs (dusty coral ColourPop single shadow), the 9th shade of the Juvia’s Place the Corals palette (light coral), the 12th shade of the Juvia’s Place the Corals palette (full on coral), Daura (salmon coral from the Juvia’s Place Warrior II palette), Morocco (deep orange from the Juvia’s Place Nubian II palette), Caliente (terracotta from the ELF Retro Paradise palette), Maybe Later (mid toned brick red from the ColourPop Whatever palette), Pass It On (warm terracotta from the ColourPop Whatever palette), Peanut Butter (creamy orange toned tan from the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly limited edition palette), and Nuts about You (red based orange terracotta from the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly limited edition palette).

My third row of my dream mattes palette would be:

Amber (burnt orange from the ColourPop Brown Sugar palette), Soothe Matte (camel from the Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals Vol 1 palette), Maple (yellow based tannish brown from the Too Faced Born This Way The Natural Nudes Eye Shadow palette ), Riff (deep camel from the Urban Decay Born to Run palette), Wake Up Call (warm sand ColourPop single shadow), Bel Air (cool taupe ColourPop sungle shadow), Sea Stars (medium yellow brown ColourPop single shadow), Good Thing (warm chestnut brown ColourPop single shadow), Extra Curricular (mid toned orange tan ColourPop Double Entendre palette), Saucy (yellow based tan from the ELF Opposites Attack palette), and the 6th shade of the Juvia’s Place the Nudes palette (deep yellow camel).

My fourth row of my dream mattes palette would be:

the 5th shade of the Juvia’s Place the Chocolates palette (mustard yellow), Yodit (dark mustard brown from the Juvia’s Place Warrior II palette), Kana (rosy dove grey from the Juvia’s Place Warrior II palette), Sandy Bum (light tones natural brown from the ELF Retro Paradise palette), Mojave Mami (mid toned sand brown from the ELF Earth and Ocean palette), Feathered (rich chocolate brown ColourPop single shadow), Finesse (deep mahogany ColourPop single shadow), Choc (reddish brown from the ColourPop Brown Sugar palette), Teddy Bare (warm mid toned brown from the ColourPop Double Entendre palette), and the 4th shade of the Juvia’s Place the Chocolates palette (rich warm red brown).

My fifth row of my dream mattes palette would be:

the 6th shade of the Juvia’s Place the Corals palette (a reddish brown), Henna (deep cool toned taupe from the ColourPop Brown Sugar palette), the 1st shade of the Juvia’s Place the Chocolates palette (deep chocolate brown), the 3rd shade of the Juvia’s Place the Chocolates palette (grey toned deep cool brown), Cloud 9 (plummy brown ColourPop single shadow), Ms. Brightside (deep red plum from the ColourPop Whatever palette), Bad Guy (true burgundy from the ColourPop Whatever palette), Jamata (deep tan based orange from the Juvia’s Place Warriro II palette), Jezebel (maroon from the Juvia’s Place Nubain II palette), and Sleeper (eggplant ColourPop single shadow).

My sixth row of my dream mattes palette would be:

Kahina (deep maroon from the Juvia’s Place Warrior III palette), Candace (dusty rosy coral from the Juvia’s Place Warrior III palette), Fanti (vibrant purple from the Juvia’s Place Warrior III palette), Easy Going (blue based lilac from the ELF Opposites Attract palette), Gola (vibrant sky blue from the Juvia’s Place Warrior III palette), Oasis (dusty blue grey from the Elf Earth an Ocean palette), Royal (classic royal blue from the ELF Retro Paradise palette), Abyss (deep ocean blue from the ELF Earth and Ocean palette),and Wise (mid toned forest green from the ELF Opposites Attract palette).

My seventh and final row of my dream mattes palette would be:

Can’t Kelp It (dusty brown green from the ELF Earth and Ocean palette), Desert Storm (khaki from the ELF Earth and Ocean palette), Spruced Up (deep olive green from the ELF Earth and Ocean palette), Maasai (true vibrant green from the Juvia’s Place Warrior III palette), the 10th shade of the Juvia’s Place the Corals palette (pale dusty grey), the 2nd shade of the Juvia’s Place the Corals palette (deep grey), Calm (mid toned grey), and finally Shawata (charcoal black from the Juvia’s Place Warrior II palette).

There you have it dolls. This would be my ultimate dream all mattes palette. If I had to add 1 more color to the palette to give it an even number of shades I think I would add the shade Memory Matte (carbon black) from the Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals palette so that I had the deepest black available to me for days when the charcoal black aren’t deep enough.

This challenge was fun to do and I thank Katie of KatieEmma Beauty for posting it. I do love doing tags and challenges and you should check out all of her posts for this challenge. She did an amazing job at putting together her dream palettes.

I will not be posting Day 2 until Wednesday so that I can take tomorrow to gather and swatch all of the shade for the next challenge day.

I still have makeup in the mail coming to me the first week in July so I will not be able to haul anything new for the last few days of June. With that said I still have to do my July beauty buys so I may have more than usual haul posts in the month of July.

My eye has healed almost completely there is just the slightest bit of dry skin on the upper lid and just a rough patch on the lower eye lid …. I think by Thursday it should be all better … I’ve been combating the dry and rough skin of that eye with Hyaluronic Acid serum and a bit of my night oil.

Well that’s all for now dolls…. Remember to check out Katie Emma’s blog, she really does have a great one …. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO, Nita

Vol. 4 The Helpers (CORRECTORS, MIXERS, AND CONTOUR)

Vol. 5 The Bronzers

Vol. 6 The Blushes

Vol. 7 The Highlighters

Vol. 8 The Face Powders

Today we’re diving into my Eyeshadow Palettes collection … I wil not be blogging about what the palettes are billed as because I have a heap of palettes to get through and not all of my palettes are available still so I have no way of knowing what they were marketed as. Any way without further ado let’s do this…

Revolution Beauty Reloaded Palette Basic Mattes $8 for 15 @ .04 ounces of product on their website.

This one is billed as truly compelling mixture of 15 smooth and rich shades, for matte-lovers everywhere! Featuring a wide spectrum of fundamental nudes, creams, beiges, browns and deep plums.

I’ve already reviewed this palette in my REVOLUTION (MAKEUP REVOLUTION) FULL FACE REVIEW . What it boils down to is this is an amazing palette and a staple in my collection.

ColourPop x Karruche Collab (limited edition and no longer available was $12 for .36 ounces of product) The Brown Sugar palette.

This is a warm tones neutral palette with tons of versatility. Compact for on the go and I find myself reaching for it as a back up to other palettes all the time.

ColourPop Going Coconuts Palette $12 for .36 ounces of product on their site (currently out of stock).

This is a dustier version of the Brown Sugar palette … still in the vein of warm neutrals. I love this palette so much. It’s a great everyday, work and school appropriate palette.

ColourPop Double Entendre Palette $18 on their website.

This palette has it all … warn and cool nudes …. mattes and metallics.

Such a nicely put together palette.

ColourPop What Ever Palette $18 on their website.

Such a fun little palette that has it all.. from nudes to roses, to burgundy, from mattes, to glitters, to metallics and pressed pigments.

Catrice Cosmetics Basic Bae Palette $14 for .44 ounces of product at Ulta

This one is a basic neutral lovers palette with both matte and metallic shadows. This was my favorite part of my Catrice review.

Coastal Scents Revealed Rouge $20 on their website.

This one has a red color story that is just simply divine.

It’s the only Revealed palette I kept from my Coastal Scents review week. I decluttered the rest of the palettes. This one is super unique and I have loved every look I’ve come up with.

Urban Decay Born To Run Eyeshadow Palette $49 for .42 ounces of product at Ulta and Sephora.

This is 1 of only 2 Urban Decay palettes that survived my last declutter. I got rid of the rest of them. I absolutely love this palette! This is a great one for travel because it has all the nudes and still a pops of color. My favorite shade (although just a simple boring nude and not a pop of color)is Weekender. I so want them to release this shade in a single!! I’ve hit pan on it and this shade is a staple in my repertoire.

KVD Shae + Light Eye Contour Palette *I believe this one has been discontinued as I can not find a permalink to link back to a sale site*

This palette is broken into small quads… neutral, cool, and warm.

I love this palette. I love that it’s all mattes, I love that it’s got so much versatility within the quads. It’s a basic neutral palette.

Too Faced Born This Way The Natural Nudes Eye Shadow Palette $45 at Ulta and Sephora.

Hands down my best and favorite neutrals palette and also my favorite of the Too Faced palettes I own.

The first week I got this palette I couldn’t put it down! I have loved every look I’ve come up with using this little baby.

The shades flatter every skin tone. The mattes are finely milled the metallics have 2 different finishes .. there are some drier and some so buttery that they glide on effortlessly.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette $49 for .56 ounces of product at Ulta.

I can’t believe this palette still have that amazing chocolate scent to it.

The shadows are smooth and pigmented and blend like a dream.

Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar *Discontinued*

This is the cool neutrals answer to the Chocolate Bar family (with that warm pop of the peanut butter shade).

This one still has the delicious scent of chocolate too. I have traveled many times with this one.

Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons *discontinued but can be found on Amazon*

This is such a fun palette with those pops of pink and blue and purple in them and has a mix of warm and cook neutrals.

Too Faced Chocolate Gold Palette $49 for .54 ounces of product at Ulta.

This one is basically an all metallic palette with 4 staple mattes.

This is my favorite pop of color palette that I currently own.

ColourPop She’s Got Solstice Palette $14 for .3 ounces of product at Ulta.

This is a great little coral based palette and that pop of moss green is amazing!

ColourPop Making Mauves Palette $14 on their website.

A great alternative to the standard nude neutral palettes on the market. This is a great one for weddings and special occasions and just for a spin on a neutral eye look.

ColourPop Nude Mood Palette $14 on their website.

I love pairing this one with my Brown Sugar palette a lot.

ColourPop Blush Crush Palette $14 on their website.

This is another palette that’s perfect for a wedding or special event. Soft muted pinks and mauves so expertly done.

ColourPop It’s My Pleasure Palette $12 on their website

I purchased this one because a reader requested a purple look. I fell in love because the purples are so rich and expertly done. It can be hard to get purple eyeshadows to preform well because that pigment is hard to create. ColourPop hit it out of the park with this palette and that 1 pop of baby pink just made this palette everything.

ColourPop Lilac You A Lot $12 on their website

I purchased this one also because a reader requested a purple look and I wanted to have plenty of purple options to choose from. I love this pastel feel of the palette so much and it pairs well with the It’s my Pleasure palette.

ColourPop Mulan Palette $22 on their website

I could not wait to get my hands on this little baby!! I came up with 5 separate looks for this palette showing the versatility of it.

This is a great one for glam and drama.

9 pan palette I created from Makeup Geek for 57.99 total which includes the z palette.

The shades in this palette are : Shimma Shima, a pale peachy flesh tone with a silver reflect. So Pale, a light vanilla matte. Rapunzel, a pale peach with gold reflect. Sand Dollar, a pale grey matte, Peach Smoothie, a true peach matte. Pumpkin’, a coral-orange hybrid matte. I’m Peachless, a pale peach with pink reflect. Tuscan Sun, a dusty coral pink matte. And finally Dark Roast, a dark true brown matte.

Urban Decay Ultimate Basics Palette *Discontinued*

This palette is the 2nd of 2 palettes I kept from Urban Decay in my last declutter. I love that it’s an all matte, basic eyeshadow palette. I tend to pull shades from this palette to accompany other palettes.

It’s a great companion palette to own.

Well dolls. That’s it for this volume. Hope you have a nice rest of your day/night.

Remember … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
