Valentine’s Day Inspired Face of the Day

Published February 8, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!!! How you doing today? Good I hope. I woke up a bit later than I had planned to but I am feeling pretty good today. It’s a bit cold so I’ve got myself bundled up to help keep from getting extra pain. I woke up wanting to do a Valentine’s Day makeup look so this is what I came up with. Today I still am testing 5 items to see whether or not I will be keeping them as well. The products I chose are…. ELF Illuminating Palette, Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette, Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation, MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, and Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick (in the shade Lolita II). I will review these products and tell whether or not I decided to keep them in Final Thoughts but for now …. let’s jump into the Face of the Day….

20200208_145321

Base: I primed my face using NYX Pore Filler ($14 at Ulta and on the NYX website). I color corrected using Tarte CC Undereye Corrector ($25 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Light-Medium. For foundation I chose Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation ($50 at Sephora) in the shade Beige 3. I concealed my under eyes using MAC Pro Longwear Concealer ($25 at Ulta and MAC) in the shade NC 30. I set my face using Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder ($3.97 at Walmart) in the shade 011 Creamy Natural. I warmed up the face using Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer ($5.99 at Target) in the shade Bronzer. I set my under eyes and baked my jaw line, bridge of the nose, and center of the forehead using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website).

Eyes: I primed my lids using NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($30 at Sephora) in the shade Medium 1 Custard and set that with Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. For today’s eye look I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette ($42 at Ulta). As my 1st transition color I used the shade Burnt Orange (a tan based orange matte). My 2nd transition color is the shade Venetian Red (a dusty mid-toned blue based red satin). On my mobile lid I used the color Vermeer (a pale champagne shimmer) on the full lid. I then deepened the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and the outer v and low down on the crease using the shade Red Ochre (a deep maroon red matte). I then took the shade Primavera (a golden champagne shimmer) on the inner 2/3 of my mobile lid. I then took more of the shade Venetian Red and patted that in the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid to mesh the inner and outer 1/3 together. For my drop shadow on the lower lash line I used more of Burnt Orange followed by Venetian Red. I highlighted the inner corners using more of the shade Vermeer. I then deepened the lower lash line with more of the shade Red Ochre. I lined both the upper and lower waterlines using Iglot Eyeliner Gel ($17 on the Beautylish website) in the shade 90 Brown. I set my brows using Pixi by Petra Brow Tamer ($10 at Target) in the shade clear and then filled in the brows using ELF Ultra Precise Brow Pencil ($5 at Target and on the ELF website) in the shade Dark Brown. I carved out my brow line using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and set that using the shade Tempera (a pale peach based vanilla matte). For mascara I chose NYX On the Rise Volume Liftscara ($11 at Ulta and on the NYX website) in the shade Black.

Cheeks and Lips: For blush today I used Flower Beauty Flower Pot Powder Blush ($8.98 at Walmart, Ulta, and on the Flower Beauty website) in the shade Warm Hibiscus (a rosey pink with a gold sheen). I highlighted the tops of my cheeks, bridge of my nose, Cupid’s bow, and center of the forehead using ELF Illuminating Palette ($8 on their website) and mixing all 4 shades together. I then lined and filled in my lips using Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner (normally $19 some shades on sale for $8 at Sephora and the shade I used was a limited edition shade no longer available) in the shade OG Lolita (a pinkish terra cotta nude). I first tried to top the lips using Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($21 at Sephora) in the shade Lolita II (a deep terra cotta nude matte) but it felt so dry and so tight that I promptly took it off and re-lined and re-filled my lips with OG Lolita. I then topped my lips off with NARS Lip Gloss ($24 at Sephora and on their website) in the shade Stripe Tease (a pale beige nude).

Final Thoughts:

ELF Illuminating Palette:                                                                                                               This palette isn’t that old but I hardly ever reach for it. It’s a very powdery and dusty formula that is a subtle highlight. I have tried it several different ways and nothing really seems to wow me. I have so many highlighters that I just don’t want to keep one around that doesn’t make me happy to use it. I have decluttered this one from my collection.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette:                                                            When this palette first came out I could not put it down. I wore it almost every day. But I haven’t really reached for it much in the past year and 1/2. I used it today because I had never tried the red shades. The reds blended out so wonderfully but there was tons of kick back in the pans and fallout on the face. I have most of the neutral colors in other palettes and I did just order the new ColourPop Valentine’s Day palette which is chalk full of reds. The shimmer shades don’t wow me as much as most of the shimmers I have in other palettes so I have decided, reluctantly to declutter this palette from my collection.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation:                                                                                                     The shade I have is a spot on skin match. This foundation is a bit weird. Sometimes it is glowy and sometimes it goes on matte. I think this is do to the primer I am using. For instance I used a pore filler primer and today this foundation went on matte… it also didn’t need to be set down, it wasn’t tacky at all, but if I use let’s say the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter… this foundation is dewy and stays tacky. I do love the way this foundation looks on my skin and I enjoy the coverage it gives (a sort of high medium coverage). I will not be decluttering this foundation from my collection.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer:                                                                                                    This was the 1st MAC product I ever purchased. I do love the way this concealer looks under my eyes, I just wish it was lighter in shade. NC 30 is my exact shade match I think NC 20 would have been better from my under eyes. I haven’t used this concealer a ton because I just have so much concealer, but I do really enjoy this one. I think I will use it up and then purchase it in the shade NC 20. I will not be decluttering it from my collection.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick (in the shade Lolita II):                                              This is the last of my KVD liquid lipsticks I have left in my collection. I had decluttered the rest of my stash. I kept it because the shade has sentimental value to me. I used it on my niece for her prom and I just couldn’t part with it. It’s just so stiff on the lips that I don’t enjoy wearing it. I have decided to declutter it from my collection.

*** as a side note, most of the products I have decluttered from my collection I have gifted to either my niece or to a friend… there are a few products I have just tossed in the bun but mostly these products have been given a new home ***

20200208_145531

Well that’s all for now dolls. I will be receiving my ColourPop All That Palette on Monday so I will be doing another Valentine’s Day look on Tuesday. I will still be testing out other products that I’m on the fence about to see whether or not to declutter them, so stay tunes… in the mean time I hope you are in good spirits and that you have a good rest of your day/night. Until tomorrow dolls… remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO

Revisiting My Stash Face of the Day

Published February 6, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great day/night. I woke up super early today, had a Psychiatrist appointment today. I’m feeling pretty good today. Low pain day and so far my energy is good too. I am still weeding through my makeup to see what I will and wont declutter. For today I have chosen to test out the following products for culling… Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette, Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer, It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-1 Clinically Proven Mascara, Inglot Eyeliner Gel, MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot, Jouer Powder Highlighter, Urban Decay Afterglow 8 Hour Powder Blush, and Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Longwear High Coverage Foundation. As per the usual, I’ll be talking about these products and also saying whether or not I will be decluttering them from my collection in Final Thoughts. So let’s jump into the face of the day….

20200206_112615

Base: I primed the face using Marc Jacobs Invisible Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer ($45 at Sephora) and ELF Poreless Putty Primer ($8 at Ulta and on the ELF website). I color corrected using Tarte CC Undereye Corrector ($25 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Light-Medium. My foundation today is Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Longwear High Coverage Foundation ($65 at Sephora) in the shade 5.5. I concealed the under eyes using Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer (Discontinued) in the shade R22. I warmed up the face using Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel ($50 on their website) in the shade Universal Bronze. I set my face using Wet n Wild Photofoucs Pressed Powder ($2.75 at Walmart, Walgreens, and on their website) in the shade Neutral Beige. I set my under eyes and baked the jaw line, bridge of the nose, and center of my forehead using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website).

20200206_112537

Eyes: I primed my lids using MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot ($22 at Ulta and MAC) in the shade Soft Ochre and set it using Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. For today’s eye look I used the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette ($29.50 on Amazon and $44 on the Too Faced website). For my transition shade I used the color Almond Truffle (a dusty mauve matte). In my crease I used the color Mocha (a mid-toned brown matte). On the outer 1/3 of my mobile lid I used the color Dark Truffle (a dark chocolate brown with pink reflect metallic). On the inner 1/3 I used the color Molasses Chip (a taupey gold metallic). Then on the middle 1/3 of my mobile lid I used the color Cafe Au Lait (a light taupe with silver reflect metallic) to blend the inner and outer 1/3 together. I then went back in with Dark Truffle on the outer 1/3 and Molasses Chip on the inner 1/3. I then mixed Dark Truffle, Molasses Chip, and Cafe Au Lait together and further blended the inner and outer 1/3 together more. I then went in with the color Bordeaux (a cherry chocolate matte) and deepened the outer v and blended it into the lower part of m crease. I set my brows using Pixi by Petra Brow Tamer ($9.99 at Target and on their website) in clear and filled in the brows using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta) in the shade 4.5 and carved out the brow line using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the shimmer side and then set that with the color Divinity (a peachy toned vanilla matte). I created a drop shadow on the lower lash line using more of the shade Mocha and smoked that out using a hint of Almond Truffle. I then lined my upper lash line and lower waterline using Inglot Eyeliner Gel ($17 on the Beautylish website) in the shade 77 Black. I then smoked the lower lash line out further using more of the color Bordeaux. I highlighted the inner corners using the color Satin Sheets (a pale gold metallic). For my lashes I used It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-1 Clinically Proven Mascara ($27 at Ulta) in the shade Blackest Black.

20200206_112725

Cheeks and Lips: For blush today I used Urban Decay Afterglow 8 Hour Powder Blush (Discontinued) in the shade Rapture (a dusty plumy mauve matte). To highlight my Cupid’s Bow, center of the forehead, tops of the cheeks, and bridge of the nose I used Jouer Powder Highlighter ($24 at Sephora and on the Beautylish website) in the shade Citrine (a golden champagne). I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil ($6 on their website) in the shade BFF (a warm tan nude) and filled in the lips using BH Cosmetics Cashmere Cream Comfort Lipstick ($8 but on sale for $6 on their website) in the shade Roast (a warm light brown nude).

20200206_112633

Final Thoughts: Just 1 side note … the BH Cosmetics Cashmere Cream Comfort Lipsticks are turning out to be my favorite lipstick formula!!! The last 2 I tried have been very comfortable on the lips and have been long wearing. They have also not feathered or traveled outside the lip line and fade evenly. I will be purchasing other shades in this line.

Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette:                                                                                             I purchased this one on impulse and have never used it until today (that was 2 years ago!!!) I really liked using this palette today. The shadows were creamy and blended out perfectly without skipping or going patchy. There was zero kick back in the pans and no fall out on the face. The shades buffed into each other without going muddy and the metallics are beautifully blended. They can go on sheer with little pressure or high impact with a damp shader brush. I am going to continue to use this palette, there are just enough metallic shades that I can get different looks every time I use this one. I will not be decluttering this palette from my collection.

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer:                                                                    This is such a small tube of concealer that I often over look it, but every time I do use this concealer I remember just how much I love it. The sad part is it’s discontinued so I wouldn’t be able to repurchase it. It’s the perfect under eye concealer color and it buffs into the under eye beautifully. I never have creasing with this one and I often forget and use way too much but it never ends up looking cakey. I am not going to declutter this one from my collection.

It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-1 Clinically Proven Mascara:                                                            I have hated this mascara every time I have picked it up. I hate the brush applicator, I hate the formula, I hate how it looks on my lashes…. I just truly HATE this mascara. So no surprise when I say I have decluttered it from my collection.

Inglot Eyeliner Gel:                                                                                                                         This is another pot eyeliner that I didn’t even know I had. I opened it for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised to find that it went on smoothly on my waterlines. This is one of few gel pot liners that do not skip on my mobile lids. I liked the formula and how black it is. I liked it so much that I promptly purchased it in 90 Brown. It should be no surprise that I will not be decluttering this one from my collection.

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot:                                                                                                             I use this one every now and then. But lately I haven’t really liked using it. It makes my lids look incredibly dry and I don’t truly like the way my shadows go on over it. It doesn’t go on smoothly and it doesn’t really do anything special for my eye looks.  I prefer my Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) much more than I ever have the paint pots. I have decluttered this one from my collection.

Jouer Powder Highlighter:                                                                                                                 It took me forever to be able to purchase this one. It was all the craze 2 years ago and was always out of stock. I finally was able to purchase it and have loved it every since. I don’t love it right away though…. I think it goes on too textured when I first apply it but after I use some setting spray it just melts into the skin so beautifully and so seamlessly. I don’t use it as much as I thought I would, mainly because I have such an extensive highlighter collection, but I do love it every time I use it. I will not be decluttering it from my collection.

Urban Decay Afterglow 8 Hour Powder Blush:                                                                        This blush goes on so patchy and so underwhelming. I think that is because of the shade I chose, but it’s just hard to work with. It’s dusty and powdery and accentuates every little texture on your cheeks. I have decluttered this one from my collection.

Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Longwear High Coverage Foundation:                                     This is the most expensive foundation I have ever owned, but I freaking love this foundation!!! Every time I have used it I have loved the way my skin looks. I have it in a shade that use to match me, but doesn’t anymore. Even so I love this foundation. I have it in the shade 5.5 and it’s a bit too deep for me. I don’t even mind, I can make it work. I will continue to use this bottle up and then I will repurchase it in the shade 5. I will not be decluttering this one from my collection.

Well there you have it… I have reviewed 8 older products and out of the 8 I have decluttered 3 of them.

Well I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits. I hope that if you have an invisible illness, like I do with Fibromyalgia, that you are having a low pain day, and that you have plenty of spoons. Stay tuned tomorrow when I continue culling my makeup stash and remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO

Blue Smokey Eye Face of the Day

Published February 4, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great day/night. I’m having an OK day today. Woke up early for a change and have some energy though it feels like the energy is dwindling rapidly today…. I may need to nap today. Today I continue my journey to curate my makeup collection by testing out 7 more older products in my collection…. Clinique High Impact Mascara ($19.50 on their website and at Ulta), Marc Jacob Invisible Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer ($45 at Sephora), Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($45 at Sephora), Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (discontinued), Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup (on sale for $20 on their website), MAC Mineralize Skin Finish ($36 at MAC), and Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette (Discontinued). I will reveal what I am keeping and what I am decluttering of these 7 items in Final Thoughts…. for now, let’s jump into the Face of the Day….

20200204_130151

Base: I primed my face using the Marc Jacob Invisible Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer ($45 at Sephora) and then went in with the Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($45 at Sephora) in the shade Dew You? all over the face to add extra glow to the skin. I color corrected using Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 at Target) in the shade Brightening Peach. For foundation I am wearing Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup (on sale for $20 on their website) in the shade 4.0 and then I concealed my under eyes using Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (discontinued) in the shade medium-Light. I set my face using Revolution Pro Powder Foundation ($7 on their website) in the shade F5. I warmed up the face using Revolution Bronzer Reloaded ($7 on their website) in the shade Take a Vacation. I set my under eyes and baked the jaw line, center of the forehead, and bridge of my nose using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website).

20200204_130126

Eyes: I primed the lids using Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) in the shade Light-Medium Honey and set that using some Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Sephora) in the shade Translucent. For today’s eye look I used the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette (discontinued). For my transition shade I tried to use the color Nogut  (a very light dusty mauve matte) but it didn’t show up deep enough for me so I covered it up using the shade Peanut Butter (an orange based tan matte). I deepened my crease and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid using the shade Truffled (a deep chocolate brown matte). I then created a cut crease using some more Shape Tape. I used a combination the shades Frosting (a mid-toned brown with a taupe flip) and Cocoa Chili (a deep brown with golden flecks sequin) on the outer 1/2 of the mobile lid. On the inner 1/2 of the mobile lid I used the shade Blueberry Swirl (a navy with lighter blue reflect metallic). I then took the shade Bon Bon (a peach with a golden flip metallic) into the middle 1/3 to blend the outer and inner 1/2 of the mobile lid together. I then took the shade Pink Sugar (a pale pink glitter topper) and patted that over the shade Blueberry Swirl. I took the shade Puddin’ (a dusty deep brown matte) and deepened the outer v. For my lower lash line I created a drop shadow using more of the shade Peanut Butter and then deepened very close to the lower lash line using more of the shade Truffled. I used the shade Butter Pecan (a pale peach metallic) to highlight the inner corners. In my waterlines I used Revolution Pro Supreme Pigment Gel Eye Liner ($5 on their website) in the shade Nude. I then set my brow hair using Pixi by Petra Brow Gel ($9.99 at Target) in clear and filled in my brows using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta) in the shade 4.5 and carved out my brow line using the BH Studio Pro Brow Highlight ($5 on their website) on the matte side and set that using the shade Coconut Creme (a flat vanilla matte). For mascara I used Clinique High Impact Mascara ($19.50 on their website and at Ulta) in the shade Black.

20200204_130044

Cheeks and Lips: On my cheeks today I used the Rimmel London Kate Sculpting Kit ($5.99 at Target) in the shade 002 Coral Glow (the blush is a coral satin). I started to highlight my face using the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish ($36 at MAC) in the shade Warm Rose but it just didn’t give me any real highlight so I ended up popping back into the Kate Sculpting Kit again and used the Highlight shade (a dust champagne) to highlight the tops of my cheeks, bridge of my nose, Cupid’s Bow, and center of my forehead. I lined my lips using the Flower Beauty Petal Pout Lip Liner ($6 on their website $4.50 at Walmart) in the shade Rose (a soft rosey pink) and then filled in mi lips using the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips ($34 on the Beautylish website and the Charlotte Tilbury website) in the shade Pin-Up Pink (a coral pink matte liquid lipstick).

20200204_130222

Final Thoughts:

Clinique High Impact Mascara:                                                                                                      It’s an OK Mascara. It’s better for the bottom lashes than the top lashes. It doesn’t give much volume or length. I have tons of mascaras that do a better job so I have chosen to declutter this one from my collection.

Marc Jacob Invisible Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer:                                        This primer is very hydrating but does nothing to blur the texture to the face. It’s a nice primer and I don’t have very much of it left, so I think I’m going to use up what I have left but I will not be repurchasing it.

Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter:                                                                   This is a liquid highlighter. I use it as a primer base. I like how glowy it makes me look but I don’t like how greasy it feels. I have a lot of this product left and since I do like the look it gives me I will be keeping it in my collection. Once I have used it up though, I will not be repurchasing it.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer:                                  This concealer is so lift weight. It does a decent job of covering my under eyes and never creases on me. This is a discontinued product so part of my wants to declutter it from my collection since I wont be able to repurchase it but part of my also wants to keep it and use up the product I have left…. I will keep this one around for this month, but if I haven’t finished it by the end of February than I will declutter it.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup:                                       I truly believe this one is being fazed out. You can only find it on their website and on Amazon. Not all of the shades are available either. It’s a shame, I really do love this foundation. I love how light it feels and the finish on the skin. It’s a bit dark for me now, but I can make it work. I have a ton of it left so I think what I will do, since I have all 4 of the Naked foundations is… I will declutter the Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation since I feel like that one isn’t as good as the other 3 that I have and then I will try and use this one up by the end of April. If I haven’t used it up by April I will declutter it from my collection.

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish… specifically in the shade Warm Rose:                                   This highlighter is just a waste of time for me. There’s no shine to it, it’s just a bright powdery messy. I have even tried it as an all over finishing powder and that didn’t seem to work either…. I have decluttered this from my collection.

Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette:                                                                            This palette has been discontinued. Out of all the Too Faced palettes I own, this one is my all time favorite palette. I have loved every look I come up with using it and I love all the shades minus Pink Sugar (mainly because it’s just a glitter topper and I don’t use those often). There is almost zero kick back in the pans and there is ZERO fall out on the face, even with the metallics. The shades are pigmented and buttery smooth and blend out well and also buff into each other without going muddy. I am keeping this palette in my collection.

*Bonus Item* I also declutter the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette ($54 at Ulta):                         I have tried using this one a few time this past month and I just didn’t like the looks I created with it, I never really reach for it because I almost always have to reach for another palette to get a complete look. The shadows are powdery and the shimmers are under whelming. So I have decided to delclutter this palette.

20200204_130241

So there you have it… I decluttered 2 of the 7 older products with the potential to declutter 2 more by April. Well I hope you have a great rest of your day/night and that the day finds you in good spirits. Remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO

Ethereal Eyed Face of the Day

Published January 24, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great day today. Today I will be reviewing the complexion products I purchased from the J Cat Beauty website. I do have to say that I’m low key obsessed with this eye look and I used glitter. GLITTER!!! Tati Westbrook knows what she is doing with eyeshadow!! So let’s get started with this Face of the Day, and also mini product review ….

20200124_115348

For foundation I am using the J Cat Beauty HD Perfection Skinsealer Foundation ($7.99 on sale for $5 on their website) in the color Warm Honey. I chose not to color correct today so i could test out the new concealer …. I concealed my under eyes using J Cat Beauty Staysurance Water-Sealed Zero-Smudge Concealer ($7.99 on their website) in the color Custard. I then took Soothe-Glitter on my mobile lid skipping the very inner part of the mobile lid. I used the color Soothe-Metallic on the inner part of the mobile lid and used Ritual-Matte (the dark brown row of colors) on just the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid over the glitter. I used Hikari Cream Pigment ($15 on their website) in the color Fair Tale (an icy white shimmer) to highlight the inner corners. For my brows I used Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta) in the color 4.5 and Benefit Gimme Brow ($24 at Ulta) in the color 6. Cheeks and Lips: My blush today is J Cat Beauty Blush-Mallow Soft Blusher ($4.99 on their website) in the color Tutti Fluffy (a bright pinkish coral). I used the J Cat Beauty You Glow Girl Baked Highlighter ($8.99 on their website) in the color Twilight (a mid-toned gold) to highlight the tops of my cheeks, bridge of my nose, center of my forehead, and Cupid’s Bow. I lined my lips using Loreal Infallible 6-HR Never Fail Lip liner ($8.99 at Ulta) in the color Coral and then filled in my lips with MAC Satin Lipstick ($19 at Ulta and MAC) in the color Brave (a mid-toned pinkish coral).

Final Thoughts:

J Cat Beauty Prime & Glow Face Illuminator Primer: A++                                                       You get 1.05 fluid ounces of product for $7.99. This is a pretty primer. It gives the skin a nice glow that has a pinkish shift to it. It felt very hydrating and created a great base that allowed my foundation to go on very smoothly. It also seemed to blur my pores.

J Cat Beauty HD Perfection Skinsealer Foundation: A+++!!!!                                                  You get .85 fluid ounces of product for $7.99, it is on sale on their website for $5. This foundation is billed as a flawless, full coverage foundation that gives the skin the most beautiful natural finish. It’s offered in 10 shades with 4 shades for deeper skin tones. This foundation is so freaking beautiful!!! It left my face so dewy and so fresh. The color was a tad bit darker than my skin tone but I loved the finish so much that I will finish the bottle up and then purchase the shade Sweet Buff (which is one shade lighter than Warm Honey). This foundation is definitely full coverage but when using a Beauty Blender it lays down more like a high medium coverage so I went in with a 1/2 pump more (I used a total of 2 1/2 pumps to get full coverage) and it built on itself nicely. I waited 7 minutes to see if it would oxidize and it did not. I seriously can’t tell you enough just how much I loved this foundation with just 1 application!!! It didn’t emphasize pores or fine lines, in fact it seemed to make my skin look perfected and flawless.

J Cat Beauty Staysurance Water-Sealed Zero-Smudge Concealer: A-                                    You get .33 ounces of product for $7.99. It’s billed as a light-weight, yet, long lasting concealer that combats dark circles, redness, and any imperfection for a flawless look that is waterproof and has a medium to full coverage. It comes in 16 shades with 6 shades for deeper skin tones. This is a thick concealer and is so pigmented that a little goes a very long way. It reminds me a bit of the Tarte Shape Tape, however it’s more hydrating than the Shape Tape. It isn’t as light-weight as their claims say, but that’s Ok because it leaves the under eye smooth and polished. I haven’t tested the waterproof claim but it does feel like it could be at least resistant to water. I will definitely be using this product up but am not sure if I will repurchase it… I want to test it in the Florida Summer heat.

J Cat Beauty Aquasurance Compact Foundation: A+++!!! You get .31 ounces of product for $13.99. It is billed as a finely milled luxurious, silky texture that minimizes the appearance of pores with medium to full coverage. It comes in 13 shades with 4 shades for deeper skin tones. This powder foundation is the first one that I have come across that is actually full coverage if you use the sponge… it is about high medium coverage with a fluffy powder brush. I don’t know how, but this powder actually blurs the pores! My skin looks flawless. I really, REALLY like this powder and have already purchased a back up.

J cat Beauty Golden Soleil Baked Bronzer: A+++!!!! You get .35 ounces of product for $7.99. It’s billed as a velvety SOLAR baked formula that wears all day and won’t transfer onto clothes. The smooth texture blends effortlessly with any powder brush for buildable, customizable coverage that wakes skin up and delivers a lit-from-within luminosity. The non-dusty and non-drying color stays true and even for hours without oxidizing. Lately I have been loving a glowy bronzer… this one takes the cake!!! It’s glowy without having shimmer to it like the other satin bronzers I own. It’s the perfect under tone and buffs into the skin so nicely that you can’t tell when the bronze begins and ends, it just leaves your skin looking sun kissed. I love this one so much I’ve already repurchased it.

ColourPop BFF Creme Gel Liner in the color Get Paid: A+++!!!                                                    You get .007 ounces of product for $6 however this color is on sale for $4.50 on their website right now. This color is so beautiful on the waterline! SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! It’s creamy and did not skip or tug at my skin. It stays pretty good on the waterlines too.

J Cat Beauty Blush-Mallow Soft Blusher: A++                                                                             You get .14 ounces of product for $4.99. It comes in 16 shades. This is a cream to powder formula. It reminds me of a matte version of ColourPop Super Shock Cheek. It is extremely pigmented! I used a duo fiber blush brush and tapped it into the product just slightly and still had to buff some of the product out. I really love the color I chose but do not see my self purchasing other colors.

J Cat Beauty You Glow Girl Baked Highlighter: A+++!!! You get .30 ounces of product for $8.99. It comes in 9 colors. It’s billed as a multi-dimensional Baked formula brings instant GLOW all day long due to high intense shimmer pigment. It is designed to complement all skin tones and all skin types. The smooth texture blends effortlessly and gives the perfect luminous finish that complete your look. There is no glitter in this highlighter and yet it’s so super reflective! I love the formula so much, it’s smooth and doesn’t go on patchy or chunky. A really good find!!

**** On a side note …. I tried the Tati Beauty glitter formula and I have got to say I am obsessed with it!! There was very little fallout with this glitter formula, it went on smoothly and opaque and super stunning!!! OH MY GOSH ….. I never thought I’d ever like glitter…. I do now….

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoyed this look, I’m so in love with it! I hope the rest of your day is amazing and remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO

Bronzey Smokey Eye Face of the Day

Published December 7, 2019 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Good morning dolls. We made it to the weekend!! I hope the day finds you with plenty of spoons. I woke up stiff and my Rheumatoid Arthritis is acting up, which is common for cold weather days. I had an abundance of spoons today so I tackled a bronzey smokey eye.

I used the ColourPop Brown Sugar eye shadow palette again today. I have really been enjoying the ColourPop shadows. They go on so buttery and blend like a dream.

20191207_090752 Well let’s get started.

Base: For primer I used the Tarte Poreless Mattifying Primer ($32 at Ulta, Sephora, and Tarte’s website) again; I’m trying to use it up since I don’t like the smell, and will not be repurchasing it. Today’s foundation is NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation ($49 at Sephora and NARS’s website) in the color Fiji. For the 3rd day in a row I have woken up with dark circles do to not being able to sleep because of pain, so I used my Tarte CC undereye corrector ($25 at Ulta Sephora and Tarte’s website) in the color light medium. I used Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Concealer (was $25 is now discontinued) in the color medium 22. To bronze my skin I used The Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel ($50 on the Chanel website) in the color Bronze Universal. I set my whole face, including undereyes, with the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Sephora and on the Laura Mercier website) in the color Translucent.

Eyes: I primed my eyes with the Tarte Shape Tape ($19 at Ulta) in the color Light Medium Honey. I chose the ColourPop Brown Sugar Eye Shadow Palette ($15 on the ColourPop website ) and set my lids with the color Chai. As my transition color I chose Jamocha. My crease color is Choc, I also used Choc on the outer 1/3 of my lid. For the outer v I picks a combination of Sorrel and Henna. To line my lower lash line I used a combination of Henna and Choc and then used what was left of Jamocha on my brush to defuse the hard line of eye shadow. On my lids I used Auburn, which I applied with my finger for for maximum payoff. For the inner corner highlight I used Ginger. I then switched to the Going Coconuts palette from ColourPop ($12 on the ColourPop website) and used Shredded for my brow bone highlight. My brows I used the combination of the Ultra Precise Brow Pencil ($5 on the ELF website) and Wow Brow ($4 on the ELF website) from ELF. My liner today is the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner ($20 at Sephora) in Mad Max Brown. For my lashes I used the Loreal Voluminous Base ($5.99 at Target) and paired it with the Balm Whats Your Type? mascara ($19 on The Blam website). On my water line I used The Balm Mr. Write eyeliner ($13 on Balm’s website) in the color Seymour Datenights.

Cheeks and Lips:  Today I chose a subtle highlight. I used MAC Mineralize SkinFinish ($36 at MAC and Ulta) in the color Warm Rose. For blush I used NARS blush ($30 at Sephora) in Orgasm. My Lip combo today is Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Pencil ($19 at Sephora) in the color Bow N Arrow and MAC Matte Lipstick ($18.50 at MAC and Sephora) in Velvet Teddy. I added the tiniest amount of  the eye shadow Auburn to the center of my lips.

Final Thoughts:

The NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation comes in 20 shades (6 shades for deeper skin) and is billed as a full coverage foundation. At best it is a high medium coverage foundation.

Tarte CC undereye corrector is my favorite under eye treatment. It gets the under eye bright and dewy. I hope it’s never discontinued.

Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Concealer was discontinued and that makes me a sad panda. This concealer is so good!!! It’s thick enough to cover tattoos but thin enough for the under eye.

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel is my favorite bronzer in my collection. It’s a cream to powder formula that melts into the skin effortlessly. It makes the skin look tan, not look like a fake tan. I even use it on days where I am not wearing makeup. It’s so worth the $50 price tag. You get a ton of product even though it looks like there isn’t a lot of product you actually get 30 grams of bronzer.

The is a reason that the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder is the only setting powder I gravitate to. It’s velvety smooth and,,as long as you use small amounts and build as you go,  it never looks cakey.

Tarte Shape Tape is a thick concealer…. I didn’t like it under my eyes but I love it as a primer for my lids. I do you this concealer on my hormonal break outs (its a good spot treatment) but I never use it to correct the skin.

I can’t say enough about the ColourPop eye shadows!! They are so buttery, so pigmented, so blendable, and so affordable!! ColourPop Brown Sugar is a great little neutral toned palette. So is the Going Coconuts palette.  I’ve only had these palettes for a week and I can’t get enough of them.

The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner is by far my favorite liquid liner. It glides on smoothly is opaque and dries down matte. It never feathers into the fine lines of my lids and it never fades. It’s a long lasting formula too.

Loreal Voluminous Base is a lash primer that I use anytime I am not using my tried and true Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara. The only time I do not use it, is if I am testing out a new mascara. It really adds thickness and length to the lashes

The Balm Whats Your Type? mascara is slowly gaining my heart. It’s not as black or as voluptuous as the Carbon Black is, but it is a close enough comparison.

The Balm Mr. Write eyeliner in the color Seymour Datenights is flesh toned eyeliner that is great for the water line. It’s not as bright as the NYX FAUX Whites pencil is but it worked really well for today’s look. It’s just bright enough to give the water liner a little pop.

The Precisely Brow and the Wow Brow are my favorite brow products now. I haven’t even looked at my brow powder since trying these. ELF is killing it with products these days.

MAC Mineralize SkinFinish in Warm Rose is the most subtle highlighter I have ever tried. It’s not a glowly highlight, it’s more of a brightening highlighter that works good on smokey eye days. This one is a bit light for my skin in the colder months but looks amazing when I have a tan.

My NARS blush in Orgasm is a mini. This is the first time I am trying this cult classic and boy do I get the hype behind it!!! I just purchased the full size version. It’s prettiest coral blush I own, and I own heaps of coral blushes. It is my second favorite NARS blush (Dolce Vita being the first favorite).

The Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Pencils are some of my favorite formula. They are so creamy and pigmented and they stay put all day. In fact at the end of the day when my lipstick is gone these lip liners are still in place. They are so creamy that I have on occasion used them as a lipstick.

MAC Matte Lipstick  in Velvet Teddy is my favorite nude lip. It’s painful for me to use because it was the first lipstick I tried by MAC and the person who introduced me to it was my best friend who passed away a few months ago. It’s a matte formula that doesn’t feel drying. Is it just me or do MAC lipsticks smell like cupcakes???

Well that’s all for now beauty babies. I hope the weekend finds you pain free, or as close to pain free as a spoonie can be, and having plenty of spoons.

Until next time dolls, remember to reserve a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
