Brown & Green Eye Liner Face of the Day

Published July 2, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m still recovering, still have no energy and I hadn’t intended to do makeup today but I saw this incredible YouTube video by the Dubai makeup artist named Hindash. The video is entitled How To: Brown Colorful Eye Liner where he takes a brown liner and creates a wing and then he takes a super pretty duo-chrome pigment and places it in the middle of the eye liner to create this beautiful halo looking gradient liner and I just simply had to try it. I don’t think it turned out so bad for my first attempt, however I didn’t have a blue to match and decided to try a green duo-chrome instead and I also realized after my liner was on that instead of using a pencil liner like Hindash uses in the video I had used cream gel liner …. it didn’t come out half as beautiful as what Hindash created however I truly did enjoy the process of this look and I really did like the final outcome …. I plan to recreate this look again tomorrow, except I will be using a brown liner pencil and I will try and locate a different duo-chrome pigment to use that hopefully will recreate his look better.

I have to say I’ve only been following Hindash for a few weeks but he has this natural incredible talent that just speaks to my inner makeup spirit animal.

While this look is so other worldly beautiful, because of the shadow I chose as my liner topper, it doesn’t photograph well so I have included a few close up shots of the eyes ….

Today I am wearing Silver Coast Body Spray by Good Chemistry (it’s a body mist I picked up at Target, it’s a target exclusive brand, when I went back up North over a few summers ago to visit my baby sister). I will be reviewing a few of my new ELF products in Final Thoughts. Well … let’s jump into today’s Face of the Day.

Base:

I primed my face using NYX Angel Veil Primer ($16 at Ulta) and then I prepped my pores with Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta). I also used the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter ($44 at Sephora) in the shade 3. For foundation today I tried out the new ELF BEAUTIFULLY BARE Foundation Serum ($8 on their website) in the shade Fair/Light. I contoured using the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38 at Sehora) in the shade Medium/Dark. I highlighted the high points of my face using the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Spotlight. I bronzed the perimeter of my face and the bridge of my nose using Tarte Breezy Cream Bronzer ($29 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Grace Bay. I color corrected my under eyes using the ELF Color Correcting Stick ($4 on their website) in the shade Dark Circles for Light Skin Tones and then concealed my under eyes using Il Makiage F*uck I’m Flawless Multi-Use Perfecting Concealer ($26 on their website) in the shade 2.5 and then I set the under eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($28 at Ulta and Sephora). I set the bronzer using ELF Primer Infused Bronzer ($6 at Ulta) in the shade Constantly Bronzed. I set the rest of my face using ELF Halo Glow Setting Powder ($8 on their website) in the shade light. For today’s touch up powder I am using Milani Conceal & Perfect Shine-Proof Powder ($10.99 on their website) in the shade 02 Nude.

Time to re-color my hair … the grey situation is real!

Eyes:

I set my brows using the soap brow method. I filled in my brows using the Joah Brow Down to Me Precision Brow Pencil ($9.50 on their website) in the shade Black Brown and then used a light layer of the ELF Wow Brow ($4 at Ulta) in the shade Deep Brown. I carved out my brows using my BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighting Pencil ($5 on their website) on the matte side and then prepped the rest of my eye lids using the P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5. For today’s eye look I used 6 of my ColourPop single shadows ($4.50 each on their website). I started by setting my brow line using a combo of the shades Hear Me Out (white peach – matte) and Let Me Explain (ivory – metallic). I also used Let Me explain as my mobile lid shade. For my crease I used the shade Pretty Please (cool taupe – matte) and then enhanced the outer part of the crease using a light bit of the shade Wake Up Call (warm sand – matte). I then took the ColourPop Creme Gel Colour ($6 on their website – but the shade I used was limited edition) in the shade Stew (warm dark brown) and used it on the inner 1/3 of the upper lash line and also along the lower lash line (which I buffed out with more of the shade Wake Up Call to soften the line). I then took the Inglot Gel Liner ($19 on their website) in the shade 90 (deep brown) and created a wing on the upper lash lines connecting it to the inner 1/3 liner. I then took more of Stew and created a cat eye for the inner corners. I then took the shade Tea Garden (duochrome red with a green gold flip – metallic) and tapped that over the liner starting where my lashes naturally start at the inner corner of the eye and ending just before the lashes end at the end of the mobile lids. I then buffed the liner brush with what ever was left on the brush over the inner and outer part of my lash line to soften the line of delineation of the shade Tea Garden. I then took more of Tea Garden and buffed that over the liner on my lower lash line and then took the shade Ringer (champagne – metallic) and highlighted around the cat eye point in the inner corners. I lined my lower waterlines using Charlotte Tilbury Rock ‘N’ Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencil ($27 at Sephora) in the shade Eye Cheat (beige). I used 1 coat of Makeup Revolution The Mascara Revolution ($10 at Ulta) for both my upper and lower lashes.

Cheeks and Lips:

For my blush today I used NYX Bare With Me Jelly Cheek Color ($10 on their website) in the shade Coral Dream and then set that with ELF Primer Infused Blush ($6 at Ulta) in the shade Always Peachy (a light coral based peach). I touched up my highlighter with the Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up The Light Highlighting Palette ($42 at Ulta and Sephora) in the Light color way and using the shade Glow. I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil (this shade is only in the Big Box of Lippie Pencils Vault – currently out of stock) in the shade Oh Sis (smoked paprika) and filled in the center of my lips using MAC Amplified Lipstick ($19 at MAC and Ulta) Blankety (Soft Pink Beige). I then topped off my lips with a bit of ELF Lip Lacquer ($3 at Ulta) in the shade Fantasy (nude).

Final Thoughts:

ELF Beautifully Bare Foundation Serum

I grade this one a loose B- : It’s billed as a weightless silky formula melts into skin for a radiant and youthful-looking glow. The luminous, dewy finish helps boost suppleness and minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines for flawless coverage. It comes in 5 shades (2 for deeper skin tones). While this shade is spot on for my skin tone and is weightless (as it should be since it’s a SERUM foundation) none of the other claims are valid. This isn’t a radiant, luminous, or dewy finished foundation at all. At best it’s a demi-matte finish. It’s light coverage, buildable to low medium coverage. It sort of just sits on top of the skin never truly sinking in. Now, this could be because of either the primer I used or the fact that I reapplied my sunscreen before I applied my base products. However, it could also just be that this isn’t a truly good serum based foundation. I will have to try it again with a more hydrating and glowy primer to see if that makes a difference. Perhaps I will try it again tomorrow and see how I feel then. For now… this foundation just didn’t wow me. It’s just an OK low medium coverage demi-matte light weight foundation with nothing really to show for it.

ELF Color Correcting Stick

I grade this one a solid B+ : It’s billed as being able to instantly help correct and neutralize color imperfections. The creamy formula melts into skin for seamless blendable coverage. Infused with Vitamin E to help hydrate the skin. The peach color helps to illuminate and conceal dark circles or hyper-pigmentation. The green color helps to reduce redness like that from Rosacea, sunburns, or blemishes. The lilac color helps brighten sallowness or yellowness for a healthy-looking glow. While the peach shade did in fact cancel out the light dark circles under my eyes and the slight hyper-pigmentation on my upper lip (I had stopped my skin care routine for about a week 1/2 do to being ill so the brightening that the Niacinamide was doing was now starting to reverse some) and it was a tiny bit creamy it was hard to buff into the skin seamlessly at all. It’s worth noting that this is also no where near close to being hydrating what so ever. In fact, it actually made my under eyes super crepey. Now again, this could be do to the primer I used and it could be do to the fact that I reapplied my sunscreen prior to doing my base makeup, however, I remember swatching this one annd thinking it was hard to blend into my hand and it felt a bit stiff. It’s worth also noting that this one is thick and you really can feel the weight of it on the skin, however it doesn’t sit on top of the skin it does sort of melt in to the skin. I think I’ll try this one with no primer under my eyes with a bit more eye cream first and see if that helps this corrector work better. I really was hoping I had found a truly affordable color corrector … for right now I’m not sure this is the one for me.

Il Makiage F*uck I’m Flawless Multi-Use Perfecting Concealer

I grade this one a solid A- : This one is billed as a long-wear, lightweight concealer that instantly covers under-eye circles, blemishes, dark spots & hyper-pigmentation that is omfortable, lightweight, and long-lasting wear with medium-to-high buildable coverage. This one comes in a whopping 30 shades with 10 for fair, medium, and deep skin tones. This one is in fact a comfortable lightweight and long-lasting however it is no where near medium to high buildable coverage. At best you will get low medium coverage and I do not see this one covering hyper-pigmentation or dark circles on it’s own. I’ll test this out again to see if it can be built up to at least high medium coverage and see how well it does to combat the dark circles without the aid of a corrector.

ELF Primer Infused Bronzer

I grade this one a solid A : This one is billed as a long-wear, matte bronzer infused with lock on primer powder to ensure a full day of bronzed, sun-kissed glow that is smooth and easy to apply, while adhering to the skin for long-lasting wear. This bronzer is very easy to apply and is super pigmented (a very light hand is needed or things will go wrong real fast). This is a very long wearing bronzer, but this is a very heavy orange based bronzer … there isn’t enough red in this one to ever look truly sun kissed and for that I can’t grade with one higher that an A.

ELF Halo Glow Setting Powder

I grade this one a solid A+++!!!!: It’s billed as a silky, weightless texture that drapes the skin for a dreamy, blurring, soft-focus finish. Created with finely-milled synthetic sapphire particles to give your skin a soft glow, help smooth the appearance of fine lines, and blur imperfections that is formulated to keep shine at bay and ensure makeup looks and feels fresh throughout the day. DOLLS!!!!! I think I have found a truly affordable dupe for my beloved Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Loose Setting Powder !!!!! This loose powder is so pretty and buffs into the skin so beautifully!!! Out of everything I’ve purchased from ELF in the past few months THIS is my all time favorite product! I loved it so much that I promptly placed an order for 2 back ups just in case it goes out of stock. This powder doesn’t look like I’m wearing any powder at all and has this healthy glow to it. It blurred my pores and fine lines and didn’t cling to the rough patch I have on my forehead (again I’ve missed my skin care regimen for about a week 1/2 and am in desperate need of exfoliating and deep mask treatments). If I could only recommend 1 product to you from their line …. THIS WOULD BE THE ONE!!!!

ELF Primer Infused Blush in Always Peachy

I grade this one a solid A+: This is billed as a long-wear, matte blush infused with lock on primer powder to ensure a full day of perfectly placed blush that is easy to blend, perfectly pigmented for ease of application, and grips your cheeks like second skin. It comes in 7 shades of which I own 4. Again this is a very long wearing product that buffs into the skin beautifully. It’s not super pigmented but I like that, it allows me to be able to build up the intensity of the color to how much I want it to be instead of being locked into what the creator wants it to be. These blushers are so good.

ELF Lip Lacquer In Fantasy

I grade this one a solid B+: This one is billed as providing maximum color and brilliant shine. Formulated with Vitamin E to moisturize lips. Perfect for wearing alone or layered over lipstick for a bold lip statement. It comes in 10 shades, of which I own the clear one and Fantasy. Whilst I love the clear Lip Lacquer (I tested that one whilst I was getting ready today to keep my lips hydrate) the one in Fantasy just doesn’t seem to be of the same formula. Some how it feels thicker and stickier and doesn’t last nearly as long as the clear one did. Worth noting is that Fantasy is almost clear in color with just a hint of mica shimmer to it so I can’t a test to the claim that you can get maximum color shine. I can say that without a doubt this one is no where near hydrating, in fact my lips felt dry and sticky after using both the clear and the nude and, at least for the nude one, it is so short time wearing that I found I had to reapply this product every 20 or so minutes. I think the only way to use this product would be if I apply a lip balm first so that my lips don’t end up feeling so tight once the lip lacquer wears off. I chose to grade it a B+ solely based off my experience with the clear one, because that one lasted all through my makeup application process and I ended up having to remove it to apply my lip products. It may just be that there is mica in the Fantasy shade and so it will be a bit more of a drier formula but I just don’t see myself wanting to reach for this one often and I will definitely not be purchasing other shades… save for the clear one … in the furture.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

Remember dolls …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Bright Glam Face of the Day

Published June 8, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How have you been? Great I hope. I’ve been in a full on fibro flare for 10 days now, but today was the first time I was able to get out of bed. It took me a while to do my makeup because I had to stop a few times to rest… But I was able to get a full on beat face done so that’s a win in my book.

I’ve learned a lot in the 7 days that I took off in support of the Amplified Melanated Voices movement. I’ve reflected and I’ve listened and most importantly I have learned so much. I am very thankful for the experience. I am truly grateful for being able to have the ability to learn so much about this beautiful culture that is the Black community. I have some up coming blog post projects that I am currently working on to help push this movement forward.

In the meantime … I have resumed my daily Face of the Day posts … starting today…. So let’s get started.

I then went into the shade Candace (a vibrant true purple matte) for the outer 1/3 of my mobile lid and the outer v of the crease. For the remaining 2/3 of my the mobile lid I used the shade Kongo (a light sea blue metallic). I then took a clean fluffy crease brush and buffed over the entire eye to blend all the harsh edges. For the lower lash line I created a drop shadow using more of the shade Kahina. I then I used more of Candace closest to the lash line. I then went in with more of the shade Kongo on the inner 1/3 of the lower lash line and then lightened it with the shade Karama (a steel blue metallic). I highlighted the inner corners using Hikari Creme Pigment ($15 on their website) in the shade Fairtale (an icy white metallic). Final Thoughts:

Whilst suck in bed this past week I’ve had a long time to reflect on the state of the world right now. I’ve used the time to better educate myself and to support my BIPOC brothers and sisters.

I’ve also taken some time to just recharge my batteries and to take care of myself.

I’ve been in pain my whole life but the pain is the worst during a flare up . I also had almost nonexistent energy so I needed help taking a shower, changing my clothes, cooking, and just everyday tasks that others take for granted.

I’ve lived solely in pajamas, have eaten only soft foods, and basically slept as often as I could to try and help this flare pass…

I feel grateful for the boost in energy that I have today and I am not over doing it today so that I don’t end up in bed again tomorrow.

I was able to shower, change my clothes, and do my makeup with basically little effort (except when I had to rest for a bit) and was even able to cook dinner for my family and make some tiktok cookies.

I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who kept me going whistle in this flare… and for those of you who have checked in on me.

I would also like to welcome some new bloggers to me that have followed me this past week … so thank you to :

Thank you for joining my blog !!!

Well That’s all for now dolls…. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in great spirits and health.

Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO

Coral and Green Eye Face of the Day

Published May 10, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. To all my mothers out there Happy Mother’s Day …. hope you have a great one.

I over slept again today. I think my body is trying to catch up since I hadn’t been sleeping well the past few days. I woke up with less pain but low energy so hubby told me to stay out of the kitchen today. He bought us lunch and now he has bought us dinner in the form of my favorite Chinese dishes .

Today I got to play around with some of my new beauty purchases and will have a review in final thoughts.

For today’s perfume I chose Gucci Bamboo. So let’s jump into today’s Face of the Day …

Eyes:

I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 at Dollar General) in clear and then filled in my brows using Joah Brow Down To Me Precision Brow Pencil ($9.50 on their website) in the shade Brunette. I carved out the brow line using BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and then I primed my lids using P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5 and I set the whole eye space using Wet n Wild Color Icon Shadow Single ($.99 at Walgreens) in the shade Creme Burlee (a flesh toned matte). For today’s eye look I used the ColourPop She’s Got Solstice Palette ($14 at Ulta and Ulta online only). I started off with the shade Nova (nude clay matte) all through the crease up to the brow line. I then went into the shade Quasar (coral terracotta matte) and used that on the outer 1/2 of the mobile lid and the outer v of the crease. I then went into the shade Marz (icy moss with a silver flip metallic) and placed that over the inner 1/2 of my mobile lid. I then went into the shade Chromosphere (deep red brown matte) and tapped that into the outer 1/3 of my mobile lids and the very outer part of the outer v of the crease. Final Thoughts:

20200509_1900554827142967214391967.jpg

NYX Wonder Stick $12 at Ulta:  Grade A+ : This is a pretty good pencil. The shade I have is Medium… this shade is not suitable for contouring but it is a pretty good bronzing shade. It was easy to apply and easy to blend out… however you do need to be careful not to over blend or the product disappears. It’s really creamy and blends well over foundation without getting blotchy or disturbing the foundation underneath.  I’m thinking of purchasing it in deep dark as a contour but I definitely will continue to use the medium shade as a cream bronzer. I used the highlight side on the bridge of my nose and the center of my forehead and chin to add a little hint of dimension to the face… it blended into the foundation seamlessly. This product claims this side could be used as a concealer… it is creamy enough that it wouldn’t tug at the delicate under eye area but it’s so creamy that I don’t think it would stay in place very long without creasing.

20200509_1859081001680459947184420.jpg

Tarte Breezy Cream Bronzer $29 at Sephora, however I purchased mine on the Tarte website. : Grade A+++ : This cream bronzer is such a pleasant surprise for me. I’ve been getting into more cream products now that I’m aging and the only cream bronzer I’ve ever tried was a cream to powder bronzer from Chanel. This Tarte one is so easy to blend in, does not disrupt the products underneath and isn’t so creamy that it balls up when you set it. It has this amazing undertone to it that just simply leaves the skin looking sun kissed. This bronzer along with the corresponding brush is a match made in heaven. The brush gets an A+++ as well … it’s soft and plush and buffs in the product expertly. I am hoping and praying this cream bronzer is not a limited time item … I hope they keep it around for years to come because I can already tell I will be repurchasing this bronzer on repeat.

20200510_1936066015228662512719887.jpg

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Liquid Concealer $32 at Sephora, however I purchased mine on the Beautylish site. : Grade A+++ : I did like this concealer in the original shade I purchased but I just felt that it left my under eyes a bit dull. Now that I have a lighter shade I am in love! This concealer looks amazing under the eyes and sets perfectly with loose powder. It’s just creamy enough to hydrate the under eyes without feeling too emollient.  The sponge tip applicator gets a little messy but is soft enough that it doesn’t scratch the under eye area. I truly think this might be my all time favorite concealer of life. I will most definitely be repurchasing this concealer over and over.

ColourPop She’s Got Solstice Palette $14 at Ulta. : Grade A+: This is such a pretty little palette. I only give it an A+ because there really isn’t a brow bone shade and there isn’t a shade to highlight the inner corners … I had to bring 2 shadows in to do complete my look today… other than that it’s a beautiful palette to work with. the metallic shades are super creamy … although you have got to be super careful with the ultra metallic shadow called Super Star Dust … it’s very crumbly. The mattes are finely milled but pressed firm and there was some kick back in the pan, but nothing too crazy and there was zero fallout on the face. The shades are super pigmented but I did have a little trouble buffing out the shade Nova … it would buff out to barely anything so I had to go back in with a second layer to get the full payoff. Other than that this palette may just be my go to summer time palette. It’s got the perfect coral shades I love so much and that pop of moss green in the shade Marz is just to die for.

Tarte Sugar Rush Beach Cheeks Cream Blush $15 at Ulta and on the Tarte website only. (I purchased mine via Tarte’s website) : Grade A+++!!!! : I have always hated cream blushes because they just go on patchy and greasy looking and they always fade so fast … with just a little practice I figured out just how best to apply this blush (using a duo fiber brush blush) and now I am in love with cream blush! This blush is so amazing! It’s got just the right amount of pigmentation so as to not over do the color on the cheeks. I used 2 layers to achieve look. It gives this natural flush of color to the cheeks. You can also dab a little on the lips for a monochromatic moment. I loved working with this blush so much that I think I’m ready to branch out and try other brands’ cream blushes. I have a few in mind for next months beauty buys.

I had a little money left in my beauty budget so I purchased a few more things thing month … I will be hauling them just as soon as they arrive.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits.

Remember …. Save a spoon for a little lipstick.

3rd Beauty Haul of May 2020 With Swatches

Published May 9, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I just received part of my makeup purchases, a few from the Tart website and a few from Ulta’s website …. I used a few of the items today …. let’s jump into it ….

* NOTE: All swatches are done with no primer on bare skin and in 1 swipe.

NYX Wonder Stick $12 for .28 ounces of product at Ulta and is billed as a dual-ended highlighter and contouring stick. With its creamy finish, the Wonder Stick conceals, highlights and contours with ease for a naturally sculpted look. It comes in 4 shades (6 shades on the NYX website), at Ulta there is 1 shade for light, medium, deep, and universal…. on the NYX website there actually is 2 shades for deep skin. I don’t consider this a contour stick. I purchased the shade Medium and upon swatching it the contour shade seems to be the wrong undertone for contour … but it’s a nice shade for bronzing. The stick formula is very creamy and sets fairly well.

The picture on the left is without flash and the one on the right is with flash. This is with 1 pass of the stick. I can tell this is a pretty pigmented product.

The picture on the left is without flash and the one on the right is with flash. It didn’t take much to blend both these shades out. The highlight shade seems to be a tiny bit too light for my liking but I’ll give it a try anyway to see how I like it.

Juvia’s Place The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette $12 at Ulta and is billed as a a sleek and beautiful hand picked nude and rich brown palette that can be used to create stunning eye looks. In true Juvia’s Place fashion… these shadows do not have names. It has 2 mattes, 1 pressed pigment, and 3 metallics.

The picture on the left is without flash and the one on the right is with flash. From left to right the shades are a : A PEACHY CHAMPAGNE WITH SILVER FLIP- METALLIC, A LIGHT BEIGE- MATTE PRESSED PIGMENT, A CHAMPAGNE WITH GOLD FLIP- METALLIC, A LIGHT ROSE- MATTE, A PINK CHAMPAGNE- METALLIC, AND A RICH  TERRACOTTA BROWN- MATTE.

These shadows are just a good as the first Juvia’s Place palette I purchased. Super pigmented and easy to blend.

ColourPop She’s Got Solstice Eyeshadow Palette (An Ulta Exclusive) $14 at Ulta and it’s billed as having  fresh, wearable shades that are your perfect transition into spring and add a fun pop to your looks all year. This palette has 5 mattes, 3 metallics, and 1 ultra metallic.

The picture on the left is without flash and the one on the right is with flash. From left to right the shades are: So Sirius: multi-dimensional gold- metallic, Big Bang: pale baby pink- matte, Quasar: coral terracotta- matte, Nova: nude clay- matte, and Estrella: pink coral with a gold flip- metallic.

Super Stardust: mid-tone bronzey gold- ultra metallic, Marz: icy moss with a silver flip- metallic, Earth Angel: pinky coral- matte, and Chromosphere: deep red brown- matte.

Tarte Sugar Rush Beach Cheeks Cream Blush $15 on their website and is billed as a gorgeous, natural flush with a quick swipe of your fingertips and is made with shea butter, mango seed butter & avocado oil which leaves skin super soft. It comes in 2 shades… the one i chose is Beaches & Cream (a peachy pink) and the other shade they sell is called Ocean Girl (rosey pink). I did find that there was a learning curve with this one. I had to build it up 3 layers to get suitable color payoff. At the end of my makeup application I added just 1 more light layer over top of my setting powder and it did not go patchy.

The picture on the left is without flash and the one on the right is with flash. This is just 1 layer of the product. The way I do my makeup when I’m using cream products is that I apply my cream blush before my concealer so that I can blend the lines together… with this product I noticed that I needed to go back into the blush several times to build the color back up as well as top the cheeks off 1 more time after powdering because the powder muted the blush shade.

Tarte Breezy Cream Bronzer ($29 on the Tarte website) and the Breezy Blender Brush ($29 on the Tarte website) the bronzer shade I chose is Grace Bay (deep matte bronze). This bronzer comes in 3 shade selections matte, deep matte, and rich matte which corresponds to light, medium, and deep. The brush made it super easy to apply this product. It’s the right thickness and the perfect shade to get a perfectly contoured face.

The picture on the left is without flash and the one on the right is with flash. This is the perfect undertone for that just sun kissed glow. It’s creamy without being greasy and with the corresponding brush blends in seamlessly.

Well that’s all for today’s post dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good health and spirits.

Remember dolls … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Sunset Inspired Eye Look Face of the Day

Published April 29, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I woke up super late today …. around 10:45 AM. Had a rough go at it trying to stay asleep last night … I just kept waking up and then it would take forever to fall back asleep. I’m in a considerable amount of pain today. Thank goodness I don’t have to cook tonight since we normally eat left overs on Wednesdays to make sure we aren’t wasting food.

Today I am wearing Davidoff Cool Waters perfume. So let’s jump into today’s Face of the Day ….

20200429_163422

Base:                                                                                                                                                         I first primed my problematic pore areas with Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta) and then primed the full face using VDL Pantone Collection Lumilayer Primer ($32 at Ulta). My foundation today is NYX Born to Glow Naturally Radiant Foundation ($10 at Ulta) in the shade Nude. I contoured using Charlotte Tilbury Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Medium/Dark. I highlighted the tops of my cheek bones, bridge of the nose, center of the chin, and high points of my forehead using Charlotte Tilbury Glowgasm Beauty Light Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Glodgasm. I then went in with the Charlotte TIlbury Beauty Light Wand ($38 on the Beautylish website) and tapped that over the highest points of my face. I concealed my under eyes using 3 dots of  NYX Born to Glow Radiant Concealer ($9 at Ulta) in the shade Fair. I set my under eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes ($28 at Ulta) in the shade 1 and then set the rest of my face using the  Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Setting Powder ($33 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. I then warmed up the perimeter of my face using Tarte Limited Edition Park Ave Princess Waterproof Face & Body Bronzer ($34 at Ulta). I am using Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder ($4 at Walmart) in the shade 011 creamy natural as my touch up powder today.

20200429_163321

Please ignore the visible lash glue on the right (your left) lash band…. I didn’t notice it until I had already uploaded the pictures.

Eyes:                                                                                                                                                         I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 at Dollar General) in clear and then filled in my brows using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade 4.5 and then I primed my lids using P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5 and I also used a little of this to cut my brow line. For today’s eye look I used the Juvia’s Place The Nubian Eyeshadow Palette ($20 at Ulta). I started with the 2nd shade of the 3rd row (brown matte) all through the crease. I then took a bit of NYX Glitter Primer ($6.50 at Ulta) and covered my full mobile lid. I took the 4th shade of the 1st row (champagne shimmer) a patted that over the inner 2/3 of the mobile lid and then went in with the 1st shade of the 2nd row (light Gold with Pink undertones shimmer) and patted that over the outer 1/3 blending it into the middle 1/3 to gradiated the two shades. I then went into the 4th shade of the 3rd row (ebony brown matte) and buffed that into the very outer part of the mobile lid and into the outer v of the crease. I then highlighted my brow line using L’Oreal Infallible 24-HR Eyeshadow ($9.47 at CVS) in the shade 899 Endless Pearl (a creamy vanilla matte). I created a subtle drop shadow using more of the brown shade and then more of the dark ebony shade close to the lash line. I then took the 4th shade of the 2nd row (bronze gold metallic) and tapped that along the lash line and then went back to the dark ebony shade to add a bit of depth to the drop shadow. I highlighted the inner corners using Hikari Creme Pigment ($15 on their website) in the shade Honey Dew (icy pink with slight silver reflect metallic). I lined my lower waterlines using ColourPop BFF Gel Eye Liner ($6 on their website) in the shade Get Paid (rose gold metallic) and then coated my upper and lower lashes with 2 coats of Milani Dangerous Lengths Mascara ($9.99 at Ulta) and popped on a pair of Kiss Looks So Natural Lash ($11.99 at Ulta for a 5 pack) in the style Flirty.

20200429_163407

Cheeks and Lips:                                                                                                                               For blush today I am wearing Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-HR Blush ($29 at Ulta) in the shade Captivating (bright peach matte). I lined and filled in my lips using NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta) in the shade Wipped Caviar (a reddish pink nude) and then topped that off with L’Oreal Rouge Signature Lightweight Matte Lip Stain ($5.99 at Ulta) in the shade 448 I-Tease (a soft taupey pink matte) and felt that this was too muted so I tapped a few dots of Makeup Geek Creme Stain ($11.99 on their website) in the shade Jitterbug (an intense coral matte) and then I felt that this was too dry looking so I topped the whole lip off using NARS Lip Gloss ($24 on the NARS website) in the shade Chihuahua  (Sheer Guava).

20200429_163349

ooof… that lash glue though…

Final Thoughts:                                                                                                                                      I really am enjoying this Juvia’s Place palette. It’s simple but beautiful and the eye combinations are truly endless with this palette. I can’t wait for next month so that I pick up a few more of their palettes.

I already made my April beauty buys but I ended up cheating and Ordered Boots #7 Protect & Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation in the shade Calico because I was ordering my face serum and just needed 1 more item for free shipping… I know it doesn’t make sense to spend extra money to get free shipping but I somehow always end up falling for it and purchasing that extra item to get it ….

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and pray that you have both good spirits and health this day. Thank you for taking time out of your day to spend with me and remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO

Gold Neutral Eye Face of the Day and Product Review

Published April 28, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day going? Great I hope. I’m doing OK today. Still in a bit of pain but much better than I have been. I didn’t sleep well last night, was up several times, this happens a lot with people who have Fibromyalgia… we often do not get a restful sleep… So I’m a bit sluggish today.

I’ll be doing another food related post today. I’m making homemade Puerto Rican Chicken Soup. It’s different from American Chicken Soup… it’s heartier and more of a thick stew … it’s a meal all in it’self and is amazing for rainy or chilly days (it’s a bit on the chilly side here in Florida so soup it is).

For today’s perfume I am wearing JLo Love and Glamour. I didn’t really has a dirrection I wanted my makeup to go in today, I just developed the look organically as I went…. Now, let’s jump into today’s Face of the Day …

20200428_142620

Base:                                                                                                                                                         I first primed my problematic pore areas with Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta) and then primed the full face using VDL Pantone Collection Lumilayer Primer ($32 at Ulta). My foundation today is Tarte Babassu Foundcealer Skincare Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 ($39 for a full size bottle at Ulta) in the shade 27N Light/Medium Neutral. I started with the 3rd shade of the 1st row (Nude Brown Matte) from lash line to brow bone. I then deepened the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and the outer v of the crease using the 2nd shade of the 3rd row (Brown matte). I then patted the 2nd shade of the 2nd row (Light Gold metallic) over the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid and then I patted the 1st shade of the 1st row (Iridescent Pink metallic) over the inner 1/3 of the mobile lid. I felt that the middle 1/3 needed to have more of a pop so I used a bit of NYX Glitter Primer ($6.50 at Ulta) and then pat more of the light gold metallic shade over top of that. I then highlighted my brow line using L’Oreal Infallible 24-HR Eyeshadow ($9.47 at CVS) in the shade 899 Endless Pearl (a creamy vanilla matte). I created a subtle drop shadow using more of the Nude Brown shade and then deepened the lash line with more of the Brown shade. I them took more of the Light Gold shade and ran that along the inner 1/3 of the lower lash line and then buffed more of the Brown shade over top of that to add a hint of dimension. I highlighted the inner corners using Hikari Creme Pigment ($15 on their website) in the shade Honey Dew (icy pink with slight silver reflect metallic). I lined my lower waterlines using ColourPop BFF Gel Eye Liner ($6 on their website) in the shade Get Paid (rose gold metallic) and then coated my upper and lower lashes with 2 coats of Milani Dangerous Lengths Mascara ($9.99 at Ulta).

20200428_142829

Final Thoughts:

20200427_173410

Juvia’s Place The Nubian Eyeshadow Palette: Grade A+++: This is the first palette I have ever owned from Juvia’s Place and I’ve gotta say it is DIVINE! The shadows are finely milled and not to creamy (there are somewhere in the middle of creamy and dusty … it’s a perfect blend). The shadows have the perfect pigmentation… not to over powered and definitely not understated. There was just a tad bit of kickback in the pans but there was zero fallout on the face. The shadows blended out perfectly without going patchy or skipping. The shades buffed into one another seamlessly to perfection. I am so in love with this palette! I have already placed several more Juvia’s Place palettes into my cart for next month’s beauty buys.

20200427_174933

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes: Grade A+++!!!: In yesterday’s haul post I said that because this powder is so light that I didn’t think it would set my concealer well. I now take that back. Just the smallest amount of this powder set my under eyes so well that I now understand the hype behind this product. It doesn’t feel like I have powder on and it doesn’t look like I have powder on. There are several key pros for this powder. #1 this powder did not deepen my under eyes (most powders I’ve used to set my under eyes causes my concealers to oxidize). #2 I truly only went in with the smallest of taps of this powder and it set the under eyes beautifully. and #3 This powder brightened the under eyes superbly without giving a white cast to the look. My under eyes have never looked so good before! See…. I knew there was a reason I love Laura Mercier so much… She just does makeup products so well. I already know I will be repurchasing this powder… in fact I have another jar already in my cart for next month.

20200427_173304

VDL Pantone Collection Lumilayer Primer: Grade A+: In yesterday’s haul post I said that because of the  slight pink pearlescent sheen that this wouldn’t be the type of primer that can be used on it’s own… I rescind that statement. Once this primer is blended into the skin it just leaves the skin luminous and healthy looking with no pearlescence at all. I’m not sure how well this one will hold the foundation all day, but I don’t even care about that…. this primer just makes the skin look amazing and foundation over top just glows (lit from within, not greasy looking). I’m glad I tried this one…. I purchased it after watching Robert Welsh’s YouTube Video called Zoom Makeup Tutorial | makeup for video calls FaceTime zoom and Skype . I saw how beautiful it looked on his skin and just couldn’t help myself… I purchased it straight away. Dolls …. I am so glad I did. I can already tell I will be repurchasing this one when I run out.

20200423_152432

NYX Born to Glow Radiant Concealer: Graded A+++!!!!: This concealer deserves 4 billion exclamation points behind it’s grade mark! This is such a pretty concealer and a little went a long way. I added only 3 dots and it completely covered my under eyes. It also completely covered my dark circles. It’s super creamy without being overly emollient. It didn’t sink into my fine lines and it didn’t go cakey or patchy even with using a sponge. I truly like this concealer. It left the under eyes looking fresh and dewy and didn’t look heavy at all. This is 2nd concealer from NYX that I have fallen for and I hope and pray that they do not discontinue this one! I can see that I will be repurchasing this one on repeat.

20200423_160426

Tarte  Babassu Foundcealer Skincare Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20: Grade A+++: This foundation left my face looking super supple! It left my skin looking radiant and hydrated. It’s really truly pretty. I only purchased the mini (Tarte foundations are hit or miss for me so I didn’t want to commit to a full sized just yet) and now I’m kicking myself in the behind for it. It leaves the skin looking like skin without looking like a mask or cakey or patchy. The only thing was I had to pumps several pumps… this pump dose not disperse much product at one time. I really love this foundation and will be purchasing the full sized next month.

Well that’s all for now dolls. Stay tuned later when I shade my recipe for homemade Puerto Rican Chicken Soup. In the meantime I pray that you are in good spirits and health and that you enjoy the rest of your day/night. Remember dolls … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO

2nd Beauty Haul of April 2020 With Swatches

Published April 23, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

20200423_161010

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m coming at ya with my 2nd haul of the month…. This one is from Ulta Beauty (as you could probably tell from the picture). This one’s a bit long so let’s jump into it…

20200423_145953

Kiss Natural Effect Lashes in the style Flirty $11.99 at Ulta.  These lashes are light weight and the perfect size for my eye shape. They have quickly become my favorite lash when i am doing a more glam look.

20200423_150010

Kiss Natural Effect Lashes in the style Shy $11.99 at Ulta. Again these lashes are light weight and the perfect size for my eye shape. These lashes are my all time favorite natural lash look.

20200423_150112

Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil $24 at Ulta. This pencil comes in 12 shades. I have it in the shade 4.5 (natural deep brown). It has an ultra-fine point and is the perfect consistency for the brows. It never tugs at my hairs and it never skips. I purchased 2 so that I would have a back up on hand. This is my all time favorite brow pencil.

20200423_150128

Urban Decay Brow Beater Brow Pencil $21 at Ulta. This pencil comes in 7 shades. I have it in the shade Neutral Nana (neutral brown) The package says it’s waterproof, however when I was wiping off the swatch for this pencil it came off super easy with just a baby wipe. This pencil has a tear-drop shaped tip. When I swatched it, it was extremely  hard to get a swatch, very dry and waxy and it tugged at the back of my hand.  It was so hard to swatch that I am almost afraid to try it in my brows for fear that it will pull hair out.  I also realized that this was not the pencil I meant to purchase… I wanted to try out the new Brow Blade Waterproof Eyebrow Pencil & Ink Stain pen… oh well … I’ll have to add that one to next month’s beauty purchases.

20200423_161226

NYX Micro Brow Pencil $10 at Ulta but on sale for $7 so I purchased 2.  This pencil comes in 8 shades. I have it in the shade Espresso. This pencil has a fine point and glides through the brows like a dream. This use to be my all time favorite brow pencil until I tried the Benefit one.

20200423_150456

Duo Brush-On Adhesive With Vitamins $6.49 for .18 fluid ounce of product at Ulta. I purchased 2 back ups … I have 1 open and another back up but this was on sale for $3 something so I purchased 2 more. This is a latex free formula. It’s got all day hold and comes off very easy.  Just a bit of warm water is all it takes. This is the only lash glue I have ever used ever since I first tried it and it’s the only lash glue I will ever use. It’s just that good.

20200423_151009

NYX Glitter Primer $6.50 at Ulta but is on sale for $4.55 so I thought I’d give it a try. It’s billed as being  formulated to lock glitter and foil into place and is a light and creamy formula sets and then holds on tight. It is a creamy vanilla color when you first squeeze some out but it goes clear when it’s ready for the glitter and pressed pigments. This stuff is #1 super sticky and #2 a little goes a very long way. I squeezed out just a pea sized dot and that covered most of the back of my hand. It also holds on to glitter pretty darn well. I swatched and tested it out and this stuff is the real deal for glitter.

I loaded my finger up with glitter from the Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals Palette and just simply pressed it over the glitter primer and, as you can see from the picture on the right, almost every last piece of glitter is gone from my finger. When I went to removed the swatch I had to use soap and water… I could not remove it with simply a baby wipe.

20200423_150545

Revolution Skincare x Jake-Jamie Avocado Face Mask $11 at Ulta. This mask is billed as being designed to nourish, smooth, and gently exfoliate the skin. Formulated with avocado oil to moisturize, glycerin to prevent moisture loss, shea butter to nourish, and natural scrub granules to gently exfoliate.  The directions are so simple … apply 1-2 times a week. Allow to work for 10 – 15 minutes. Massage into skin for 30 seconds then rinse well. There is a warning that says to avoid the eye area.

20200423_161509

This mask smells just like a freshly cut avocado! It even has little chunks of avocado in it. It felt light weight and no as sticky as I thought it would feel. I can’t wait to try this one out tonight.

20200423_150711

Revolution Skincare Hyaluronic Acid Face Mask $11 at Ulta. It’s billed as being  formulated with sweet almond oil to encourage smooth and soft skin and vitamin E to moisturize. The directions say to apply to cleansed skin to soak in overnight, avoiding the eye area. Cleanse any residue or massage in upon waking. Use 1-2 times a week. This one also says avoid eye area.

20200423_161525

This one is super thick and sticky. I will not be using it as a night mask as the directions state. I will use this one as a day time lazy day, laying on the sofa binge watching some Netflix mask.

20200423_151313

L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Volume Building Mascara $8.99 at Ulta. This is my all time favorite mascara. I just opened a tube and I only had 1 backup so I ordered another one to make sure I wont run out. This mascara is billed as having a unique formula of panthenol and ceramide-R that builds and thickens voluptuous lashes while conditioning them, so they remain supple and healthy. This mascara is amazing, never clumps, never flakes, and never gives me spider lashes.

Mini MAC Strobe Cream $16 at Ulta. The full sized is $35 for 1.07 fluid ounces at Ulta and comes in 3 shades. In the mini it only comes in the shade Goldlite (golden pearls). This is billed as being super-powered with potent botanicals, it boosts the look of dull, flat, or tired-looking skin with nutritious vitamins and a mega-dose of green tea. Brightens and clarifies with iridescent particles and antioxidants. Adds the softest glow to skin in sunlight to spotlight.

20200423_161909

It comes out of the tube white and feels like a gel. I’m a bit disappointed in this one. It’s extremely subtle. Barely any glow at all. I’ll have to play around with it and figure out how best to use it.

Tarte Limited Edition Park Ave Princess Waterproof Face & Body Bronzer $34 for .55 ounces of product at Ulta. It’s billed as a long-wearing, waterproof formula delivers a universally flattering, instant bronze for your face & body. It’s a super silky, lightweight powder instantly evens skin tone & delivers a natural-looking bronze wherever applied. Covers & blurs the look of imperfections while giving a more-toned appearance. Amazonian clay for better, longer, truer wear. I’ve always wanted to own this bronzer and thought I’d give it a go since I’m already almost done my Benefit Hoola and will have a space for another bronzer soon.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. I didn’t know this bronzer was a glowy bronzer … I’m starting to fall in love with the glowy dewy look so I am excited to try this one out.

NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner $4.00 for .03 ounces of product at Ulta. This is my all time favorite lip liner color. I have 1 back up and 1 open almost done so I purchased 2 more back ups.

20200423_152037

L’Oreal Rouge Signature Lightweight Matte Lip Stain in the shade I Create (soft nude rose). $5.99 for .23 fluid ounces of product at Ulta. This lippie is billed as providing the color impact of a liquid lipstick with a weightless, bare-lip sensation. This formula is HEAVEN! I love this product so much, I owned 2 other shades before this one and decided when I placed my order to pick up 3 more shades.

DermaBlend Cover Care Full Coverage Concealer $28 for .33 fluid ounces of product at Ulta. This concealer comes in 16 shades with 5 shades for deeper skin tones and I purchased the shade 15N Fair/Light. This is a full coverage concealer … a super full coverage concealer and a very little goes a very long way. It’s thick and remains tacky to the touch so you would do best with setting this one as soon as you blend it in.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. This is the swatch with a very thin pea sized layer. I could have covered the whole hand and still have some left over. I’m looking forward to trying this one out.

Tarte Creaseless Undereye Concealer $26 for .23 fluid ounces of product at Ulta. It comes in 30 shades, 13 shades for deeper skin and I purchased the shade 20 N Light. This product is billed as being able to cover dark circles, hyper-pigmentation & redness with a waterproof formula doesn’t crease or sit in fine lines and powered by vitamin C-rich maracuja for firmer, brighter & smoother-looking skin. This one felt a but sticky at first but blended out to be soft and hydrating on the back of my hand.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. This is another concealer that where a little bit goes a long way. I’m not sure about the creaseless claim… I did see it seep into the fine lines of the back of my hand … I’ll have to keep you posted.

NYX Born to Glow Radiant Concealer $9 for .14 fluid ounces at Ulta. It comes in 24 shades with 10 for deeper skin and I chose the shade Fair. It’s billed as being a micro pearl-infused illuminating concealer that blurs imperfections adding instant radiance and brightening the appearance of a dull complexion and as being formulated to perfectly match their Born to Glow Foundation.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. This one isn’t as tacky or thick as the last few in this post but it is high pigment so you wont need much to correct the undereye.

DermaBlend Flawless Creator Liquid Foundation Drops $40 for 1 fluid ounce at Ulta. It comes in 22 shades with 10 shades for deeper skin and I have the shade 30 N (light skin with neutral undertones). This is the 2018 Allure Best of Beauty Winner. It’s billed as a water-free, oil-free liquid foundation that has a unique, silky texture that provides weightless, full coverage and a natural finish. Formulated with only 10 ingredients, you get pigments at their purest: a little goes a long way. Use alone or mix drops with your skincare products, such as a face moisturizer, serum, sunscreen, and more. Customize your coverage: for lighter coverage use 1 drop, for maximum coverage use up to 4 drops. Developed in true-to-tone, fade-proof shades. Never cakey or masky for an even and natural look. Provides 16 hours of comfortable wear that is smudge-and transfer-resistant.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. Dolls when they say a little goes a long way they were not kidding. After taking this swatch picture I tested to see just how far I could get this swatch to spread… It spread from the back of my hand to 3 fingers up my wrist! I am intrigued by this one and will be putting it to the test tomorrow.

Tarte Travel Size Babassu Foundcealer Skincare Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 $15 for .33 fluid ounces of product … the full sized is $39 for 1 fluid ounce of product at Ulta. The travel size comes in 6 shades with 1 for deep skin and I chose the shade 27 N Light/Medium Neutral… in the full sized bottle comes in 30 shades with 12 for deeper skin. This foundation is billed as a skincare foundation and  delivers an ultra-comfortable, natural radiant finish & medium customizable coverage and that it helps hydrate & give the appearance of plumper skin while minimizing the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. This one says medium buildable coverage however I found with this swatch it was straight full coverage. It felt thick on the back of my hand so I have a feeling this one is going to feel mask like on the face … I’ll keep you posted.

Benefit Hello Happy Flawless Brightening Foundation $30 for 1 fluid ounce of product at Ulta. This one comes in 12 shades with 5 for deeper skin and I am in the shade 4 Medium Neutral. This one is billed as a medium-coverage liquid foundation with SPF 15 that feels lightweight, looks natural and is virtually undetectable on skin. Contains photochromic pigments that instantly adapt to brighten skin in any lighting, flower acids to help boost radiance* and hyaluronic acid to attract moisture to the skin’s surface and help maintain hydration. I have the travel sized that I hauled a few months back and so I have a great understanding of this foundation. This is a beautiful foundation. It’s not too heavy and doesn’t cake up or go patchy. It doesn’t break down throughout the day. I really truly like this foundation.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. In pictures this foundation looks as if it’s too dark… but in person it’s a spot on match for me.

Tarte Maracuja Tinted Moisturizer $29 for 1 fluid ounce of product at Ulta and is also offered in a travel sized bottle for $15 but is only offered in 3 shades for the travel size. In the full sized tube it comes in 30 shades with 15 for deeper skin and I chose the shade 20 N Light Neutral. It’s billed as an ultra-lightweight & hydrating tinted moisturizer that delivers a sheer wash of color while infusing skin with maracuja super fruit for 12-hour hydration & wear. It also says the best way to apply is with the fingers.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. This is a super light weight product. I look forward to trying it out. I have yet to find a tinted moisturizer that I like and from swatching this one I really think I’m going to like this one. I’ll test it out on my next “no makeup” makeup day.

Valentine’s Day Look #2 Face of the Day

Published February 11, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!! Hope you are having a great day/night and that you are in good spirits. Today I am in pain, what I always say is if I ever wake up with no pain I will think I’m dead …. having pain all the time is soul draining. Fibromyalgia can take a lot out of you… always being in pain, always having energy drains…. but I’ve decided that I am not going to let Fibromyalgia keep me at the sidelines forever…. So I showered and sat down to do my makeup …. I was excited to play with the new ColourPop All That Palette and really wanted to do another Valentine’s Day look. I also tested out 3 more products to see if I would be getting rid of them or keeping them…lose products are …. Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation in the shade 366 C Buff Bisque, Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner in the shade Rosary, and the NYX Born to Glow Highlighting Palette.  I will review not only the eye shadow palette, but also the 3 things on the chopping block in Final Thoughts. So without further ado, let’s jump into the Face of the Day …..

20200211_123809

Base: I primed the face using Flower Beauty In Your Primer Pore-Minimizing Primer ($10.99 at Ulta). I color corrected my under eyes using Tarte CC Undereye Corrector ($25 at Ulta) in the shade Light-Medium. For foundation I am wearing Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation ($2.79 at Walmart) in the shade 366 C Buff Bisque. I concealed my under eyes using The Balm Time Balm Concealer ($18 on their website) in the shade Light-Medium. I set my face using Flower Beauty Light Illusion Perfecting Powder ($13.99 at Ulta) in the shade Beige. I warmed up the face using Makeup Geek Fair Skin Bronzer (discontinued do to rebranding) in the shade Sun Kissed. I set my under eyes and baked my jaw line, tops of the cheeks, bridge of the nose, and center of the forehead using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website).

20200211_123707

Eyes: I primed my lids using NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($30 at Sephora) in the shade Medium 1 Custard and set that using Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. To create this look I used ColourPop All That Palette ($18 om their website). For my 1st transition shade I used the color BB Girl (a true baby pink matte). For my 2nd transition shade I used the color Cha Cha (a mid-toned warm pink matte). I went in with a 3rd transition shade to really blow the eye line out and used the color Wink Wink (a dusty red matte). I deepened my crease using the shade Silhouette (a muted burgundy matte). I then used more Soft Matte Complete Concealer to clean up the inner 2/3 of the mobile lid. On the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid I used the color Infatuation (a bright scarlet metallic) and on the inner 1/3 I used the shade Uncensored (a bright rosey copper metallic). I then used the color Please Me (a deep merlot matte) to deepen the outer v and the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid. To create the drop shadow on my lower lash line I first used the color BB Girl, followed by the shade Wink Wink, followed by the color Silhouette. I then lined my lower waterline using ColourPop BFF Creme Gel Liner ($6 on their website) in the shade Joy Ride (deep burgundy) and then smoked out the lower lash line using the color Please Me. I highlighted the inner corners using the color Risque (an icy pink with silver reflect metallic). I set my brows today first with the soap brow method and then went in with a bit of Pixi by Petra Brow Tamer ($10 at Target) in clear. I filled in the brows using ELF Ultra Precise Brow Pencil ($5 on their website) in the shade Deep Brown. I carved out my  brow line using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and set the brow line using the color Uncuffed (a pale baby pink matte).  my mascara today is Revolution Beauty The Mascara Revolution ($10 at Ulta) in the shade Black.

20200211_123832

Cheeks and Lips: My blush today is Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-HR Blush ($29 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Natural Beauty (a rosey red matte). I highlighted the tops of my cheeks, bridge of the nose, center of the forehead, and my Cupid’s Bow using NYX Born to Glow Highlighting Palette ($25 at Ulta) and using the top left shade (a pale white gold). I lined my lips using Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner ($19 on their website but on sale for $8 at Sephora) in the shade Rosary (a true cherry red). I filled in my lips using Becky G x ColourPop Creme Lux Lipstick ($9 on their website) in the shade Fee Fi Fo (an red-orange terra cotta).

Final Thoughts:

ColourPop All That 12 Pan Eyeshadow Palette:                                                                        This palette was so fun to play with today!!! I would grade this palette an A+++!!!! There was only a small amount of kick back with some of the darker shades in the pan and there was zero fallout on the face, except with the shade Infatuation which had a small amount of glitter fall out. The shades blended into the lids perfectly with out skipping or going patchy and each shade buffed into each other seamlessly without going muddy. The shade variation is perfectly done. There are 3 shades for transition, 3 shades for crease work, 2 shades for highlighting the brow bone, and 4 metallics that look beautiful on the lids. But that doesn’t mean you can’t use the shades in any order and on any part of the eye you want. This palette is just so pretty. I am very happy with the way the look turned out today and can’t wait to do a smokey red eye next. Definitely a great purchase!

Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation:                                                                                                I love the way this foundation sets down on the skin. It looks pretty. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s so matte. I barely reach for it because of how matte it is. I have decided to declutter this one from my collection, however I did just place an order on Amazon for the Dewy version of this foundation to test out.

Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner:                                                                                                        I have several of these lip liners. They are super pigmented, glide on smoothly with out pulling at the delicate lip line. They don’t feather into the fine lines around the lips either. I will not be purchasing any more from this brand until I see what the “rebranding” does… I do not support Kat Von D and even though she isn’t part of the company right now, doesn’t mean she wont be later down the line…. but I will use up the products I have, I don’t understand the whole throwing something away that I spent  my hard earned money on just because I don’t agree and refuse to support any further a brand. I will not be decluttering this liner.

NYX Born to Glow Highlighting Palette:                                                                                     This palette arrived with 1 shade broken. I have tried each of the remaining shades. The shades a pretty but there is glitter in this palette and the highlighters are so dusty and powdery that it just seems to sit on top of the cheeks even after using a setting spray.  I have decided to declutter this palette from my collection.

Well there you have it… I loved the All That palette and decluttered 2 of the 3 products on the chopping block today.

I hope you enjoy the look I came up with as much as I do… I truly love the way it came out. I also hope that the rest of your day/night goes wonderfully and that you are in a low pain level with a high energy level.

Remember, save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO

Older Makeup Retry Face of the Day

Published February 7, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Hopefully it’s a good one for you. I woke up in some pain, it rained all night and is colder today and it’s slated to rain today too so my fibro is going haywire. I have 7 more products to share with you, 5 of which I tested out and 2 of which I just knew straight off the bat that I wasn’t going to use. The products on the chopping block today are …. Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette, It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation, NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer, NYX Gotcha Covered Concealer, NYX Matte Bronzer (in medium … I own 2 shades this one and Deep so I tested this one to see which I would keep).  I will discuss these products and what I will keep or declutter in Final Thoughts…. So let’s jump into the Face of the Day.

20200207_130329

Base: I primed the face using Marc Jacobs Invisible Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer ($45 at Sephora) and ELF Poreless Putty Primer ($8 at Ulta and on the ELF website). I color corrected using Tarte CC Undereye Corrector ($25 at Ulta) in the shade Light-Medium. For foundation I used All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation ($49 at Sephora) in the shade Light 5 Fiji. I concealed my under eyes using NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($30 on their website) in the shade Medium 1 Custard. I set my face using J Cat Beauty Aquasurance Compact Foundation ($13.99 at Ulta and on the J Cat Beauty website) in the shade Natural. I warmed up my face using NYX Matte Bronzer ($10 at Ulta) in the shade Medium. I set my under eyes and baked my jaw line, center of the forehead, and bridge of the nose using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website).

20200207_130118

Eyes: I primed my lids using more of the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($30 on their website) in the shade Medium 1 Custard and set that using Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent.  For today’s eye look I used the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette ($49 at Sephora and on the Too Faced website). For my 1st transition color I used the shade Georgia (a muted soft light peach matte). For my 2nd transition color I used the shade Candied Peach (a coral based peach with gold flecks sequin). My crease color is the shade Puree (a mid-tone yellow based brown matte). On my mobile lid I first started out with the shade Nectar (a pale yellow based peach shimmer) on the inner 2/3 and then I used the shade Caramelized (a mid-toned brown with gold reflect metallic) on the outer 1/3. I then went into the shade Luscious (a taupe with gold reflect metallic) and used that on the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid. I didn’t like the way it looked so I layered the shade Bellini (a mauvey pink shimmer) over the inner 2/3 and then layered the shade Just Peachy (a peachy pink shimmer) over the middle 1/3 blending it toward the inner 1/3. I then added the shade Charmed I’m Sure (a dusty dark brown matte) into the outer v and low down on the crease. I set my brow hair using Pixi by Petra Brow Tamer ($10 at Target) in clear and then filled in the brows using ELF Ultra Precise Brow Pencil ($5 at Ulta, Walmart, and the ELF website) in the shade Dark Brown. I carved out the brow line using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and then set that with the shade White Peach (a creamy white satin). I lined my lower waterlines using ColourPop BFF Creme Gel Liner ($6 on their website) in the shade Get Paid (rose gold metallic). I lined my upper lash line using Kat Von D Tattoo Liner ($21 at Sephora) in the shade Mad Max Brown.  For mascara I used Pixi by Petra Lash Booster Mascara ($15 at Target and on the Pixi website) in the shade Blackest Black.

20200207_130358

Cheeks and Lips: On the cheeks I used ColourPop Super Shock Cheek ($8 on their website) in the shade Birthday Suit (a neutral pink satin). I highlighted the tops of my cheeks, bridge of my nose, Cupid’s bow, and center of the forehead using ColourPop Super Shock Cheek ($8 on their website) in the shade Wisp (pearlized golden champagne). I lined my lips using Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat ($22 at Sephora, and on the Beautylish website) in the shade Pillow Talk (a neutral pink) and filled in my lips using BH Cosmetics Cashmere Cream Comfort Lipstick ($8 at Ulta and on the BH Cosmetics website…. on sale for $6) in the shade Yas (a coral pink).

Final Thoughts:

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette:                                                                                                          I purchased this one on a whim when it first came out. I barely ever use it. I just feel underwhelmed with it. I don’t reach for peach shades often. While I think the look I came up with today was a pretty soft Spring look, it’s just not my cup of tea. Not to mention that there isn’t a cohesive array of shades. There is tons of kick back in the pans and some fall out on the face. I just don’t feel inspired by this palette and so I have decided to declutter it from my collection.

It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream:                                                                                 I normally use this CC cream during the summer months… I just have found other BB and CC creams that I like more and that do not have that odd scent to it. Not to mention I have it in the shade Medium (which is a tad darker than me, but Light is too light for me). It just feels greasier than the other BB and CC creams I have so I have decided to declutter this one from my collection.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner:                                                                                                                  This is one of my favorite ink liner formulas. I have it in both Black and Brown. It doesn’t seep into the fine lines of my lids, doesn’t transfer to the lower lash line, and stays in place all day. While I do not support Kat Von D anymore, I do have some of her products that I am trying to use up. I will not be decluttering this from my collection.

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation:                                                                     The shade I have is a spot on match for my skin tone. I love this foundation so much. It just looks so pretty on the skin. I haven’t reach for it a ton this past year, honestly most of last year I was in a bad depression and didn’t do my makeup but when I came out of the depression I still didn’t reach for it much. I really do love this foundation and have moved it to my everyday drawer so that I can use it more. I will not be decluttering this one.

NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer:                                                                                              I have a love/hate relationship with this one. I love the coverage I get. I love how it looks under the eyes. I love to use it as a primer for my lids… But I hate that I can’t wear it without setting it. When I set it it looks dry, even after I use setting spray. But I can’t leave it without powder because it creases on me…. I haven’t reached for it much, so I plan to move it to my everyday drawer to try and use it up within the next 6 months. If I haven’t used it up by then I will declutter it… for now I will not be decluttering this concealer.

NYX Gotcha Covered Concealer:                                                                                                  This concealer was discontinued. I don’t have much of it left, and I’m not wowed by it… Honestly I have so many concealers that I just can’t justify keeping it. I have decluttered it.

NYX Matte Bronzer: In the shade Medium:                                                                                     I have this bronzer in 2 shades, medium and deep. I like the tone of the deep one more than I like the tone in the medium one. I will keep the deep one and declutter the medium one.

Well, that’s all for now dolls. I hope the rest of your day/night is a good one. Stay tuned tomorrow when I revisit some more makeup on the chopping block…. and ….Remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
