Smokey Bronze Eyed Face of the Day

Published May 1, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope…. Today I am doing pretty darn good. Slept well last night, woke up around 8:30 AM, my pain levels are pretty low today, and I have a moderate amount of energy…. so all in all I’d have to say it’s a great day!

I feel so good today that I am cooking Lemon Honey Buttered Salmon for dinner tonight (For hubby I will be making Lemon Honey Buttered Tilapia because he doesn’t like saltwater fish).

I place my May beauty buys today… I only did a small order this month … I may still purchase a few more things this month as I came under budget for my monthly beauty buys (I kept myself on a budget so that I don’t #1 over spend and #2 so that my makeup collection doesn’t get out of hand).

Today’s scent is Davidoff Cool Waters.

I’ve been loving bronzy  looks lately … but I promise to mix it up real soon. So let’s jump into today’s Face of the Day ….

20200501_153651

Base:                                                                                                                                                         I first primed my problematic pore areas with Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta) and then primed the full face using It Cosmetics Pores No More Primer (discontinued) and I then added a bit of glow to the skin by using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter ($44 at Sephora and the Beautylish website). My foundation today is Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation ($44 at Sephora and the Beautylish website) in the shade 3 Neutral. I didn’t color correct again today (I’ve been straying away from my color correctors because I find that my concealers don’t bunch up as bad if I skip this step and ever since I have been using the Good Molecules Niacinamide Toner ($14 on the Beautylish website) my dark circles under my eyes have actually lightened. I just simply used a small amount of the Hollywood Flawless Filter to add just a bit of glow to the under eye area. For concealer I used Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Liquid Concealer ($32 at Sephora and on the Beautylish website) in the shade 5.5 Medium (I find this shade is just a bit darker than I would like for my under eyes so I just placed an order for the shade 3 Fair… I’m not sure if that will be too light but I can always mix in a touch of 5.5 Medium if it is too light. I contoured using Charlotte Tilbury Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Medium/Dark. I highlighted the tops of my cheek bones, bridge of the nose, center of the chin, and high points of my forehead using Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand ($38 on the Beautylish website). I set my under eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes ($28 at Ulta) in the shade 1 and then set the rest of my face using the  Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Setting Powder ($33 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. I then warmed up the perimeter of my face using Tarte Limited Edition Park Ave Princess Waterproof Face & Body Bronzer ($34 at Ulta). I am using Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder ($4 at Walmart) in the shade 011 creamy natural as my touch up powder today.

20200501_153632Eyes:                                                                                                                                                         I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 at Dollar General) in clear and then filled in my brows using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade 4.5 and then I primed my lids using P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5 and I also used a little of this to cut my brow line. For today’s eye look I used the Urban Decay Born to Run Palette ($49 at Ulta and Sephora). I started with a combo of the shades Riff (brown-nude matte) and Baja (burnt orange matte) and I used it from lash line to brow bone. For the mobile lid I first went in with the shade Double Life (rust metallic) on the full lid and then went in with the shade Smog (deep coppery bronze shimmer) on the outer 1/2 of the lid and then went in with the shade Accelerate (reddish copper metallic) in the very center of the middle 1/3 of the lid. For the lower lash line I used more of the shade Riff and than went in with more of the shade Accelerate to create a subtle drop shadow. I highlighted the inner corners using the shade Stranded (pale rose gold shimmer). I then highlighted my brow line using L’Oreal Infallible 24-HR Eyeshadow ($9.47 at CVS) in the shade 899 Endless Pearl (a creamy vanilla matte). I lined my lower waterlines using BH Cosmetics Powder Pencil (originally on sale for $8 but on sale for $6 on their website) in the shade Beige Nude. I then coated my upper and lower lashes with 2 coats of Milani Dangerous Lengths Mascara ($9.99 at Ulta).

Cheeks and Lips:                                                                                                                                    For blush today I am wearing The Balm Shadow/Blush (regularly $21 but on sale right now for $10.50 on their website) in the shade Frat Boy (rose). I lined and filled in my lips using NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta) in the shade Wipped Caviar (a reddish pink nude) and then topped that off with L’Oreal Rouge Signature Lightweight Matte Lip Stain ($5.99 at Ulta) in the shade 448 I-Tease (a soft taupey pink matte) and felt that this was too muted so I tapped a few dots of Makeup Geek Creme Stain ($11.99 on their website) in the shade Jitterbug (an intense coral matte) and then I felt that this was too dry looking so I topped the whole lip off using NARS Lip Gloss ($24 on the NARS website) in the shade Stripe Tease  (Sheer champagne nude).

Final Thoughts:

I haven’t done a favorites ever since I started this blog. I did a yearly favorites … but haven’t done a monthly favorites … so I thought it might be fun to try one out for size… I will be posting my April Favorites in just a little bit.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you have a great rest of your day/night and that you are in good health and spirits. Remember … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

2nd Beauty Haul of April 2020 With Swatches

20200423_161010

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I’m coming at ya with my 2nd haul of the month…. This one is from Ulta Beauty (as you could probably tell from the picture). This one’s a bit long so let’s jump into it…

20200423_145953

Kiss Natural Effect Lashes in the style Flirty $11.99 at Ulta.  These lashes are light weight and the perfect size for my eye shape. They have quickly become my favorite lash when i am doing a more glam look.

20200423_150010

Kiss Natural Effect Lashes in the style Shy $11.99 at Ulta. Again these lashes are light weight and the perfect size for my eye shape. These lashes are my all time favorite natural lash look.

20200423_150112

Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil $24 at Ulta. This pencil comes in 12 shades. I have it in the shade 4.5 (natural deep brown). It has an ultra-fine point and is the perfect consistency for the brows. It never tugs at my hairs and it never skips. I purchased 2 so that I would have a back up on hand. This is my all time favorite brow pencil.

20200423_150128

Urban Decay Brow Beater Brow Pencil $21 at Ulta. This pencil comes in 7 shades. I have it in the shade Neutral Nana (neutral brown) The package says it’s waterproof, however when I was wiping off the swatch for this pencil it came off super easy with just a baby wipe. This pencil has a tear-drop shaped tip. When I swatched it, it was extremely  hard to get a swatch, very dry and waxy and it tugged at the back of my hand.  It was so hard to swatch that I am almost afraid to try it in my brows for fear that it will pull hair out.  I also realized that this was not the pencil I meant to purchase… I wanted to try out the new Brow Blade Waterproof Eyebrow Pencil & Ink Stain pen… oh well … I’ll have to add that one to next month’s beauty purchases.

20200423_161226

NYX Micro Brow Pencil $10 at Ulta but on sale for $7 so I purchased 2.  This pencil comes in 8 shades. I have it in the shade Espresso. This pencil has a fine point and glides through the brows like a dream. This use to be my all time favorite brow pencil until I tried the Benefit one.

20200423_150456

Duo Brush-On Adhesive With Vitamins $6.49 for .18 fluid ounce of product at Ulta. I purchased 2 back ups … I have 1 open and another back up but this was on sale for $3 something so I purchased 2 more. This is a latex free formula. It’s got all day hold and comes off very easy.  Just a bit of warm water is all it takes. This is the only lash glue I have ever used ever since I first tried it and it’s the only lash glue I will ever use. It’s just that good.

20200423_151009

NYX Glitter Primer $6.50 at Ulta but is on sale for $4.55 so I thought I’d give it a try. It’s billed as being  formulated to lock glitter and foil into place and is a light and creamy formula sets and then holds on tight. It is a creamy vanilla color when you first squeeze some out but it goes clear when it’s ready for the glitter and pressed pigments. This stuff is #1 super sticky and #2 a little goes a very long way. I squeezed out just a pea sized dot and that covered most of the back of my hand. It also holds on to glitter pretty darn well. I swatched and tested it out and this stuff is the real deal for glitter.

I loaded my finger up with glitter from the Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals Palette and just simply pressed it over the glitter primer and, as you can see from the picture on the right, almost every last piece of glitter is gone from my finger. When I went to removed the swatch I had to use soap and water… I could not remove it with simply a baby wipe.

20200423_150545

Revolution Skincare x Jake-Jamie Avocado Face Mask $11 at Ulta. This mask is billed as being designed to nourish, smooth, and gently exfoliate the skin. Formulated with avocado oil to moisturize, glycerin to prevent moisture loss, shea butter to nourish, and natural scrub granules to gently exfoliate.  The directions are so simple … apply 1-2 times a week. Allow to work for 10 – 15 minutes. Massage into skin for 30 seconds then rinse well. There is a warning that says to avoid the eye area.

20200423_161509

This mask smells just like a freshly cut avocado! It even has little chunks of avocado in it. It felt light weight and no as sticky as I thought it would feel. I can’t wait to try this one out tonight.

20200423_150711

Revolution Skincare Hyaluronic Acid Face Mask $11 at Ulta. It’s billed as being  formulated with sweet almond oil to encourage smooth and soft skin and vitamin E to moisturize. The directions say to apply to cleansed skin to soak in overnight, avoiding the eye area. Cleanse any residue or massage in upon waking. Use 1-2 times a week. This one also says avoid eye area.

20200423_161525

This one is super thick and sticky. I will not be using it as a night mask as the directions state. I will use this one as a day time lazy day, laying on the sofa binge watching some Netflix mask.

20200423_151313

L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Volume Building Mascara $8.99 at Ulta. This is my all time favorite mascara. I just opened a tube and I only had 1 backup so I ordered another one to make sure I wont run out. This mascara is billed as having a unique formula of panthenol and ceramide-R that builds and thickens voluptuous lashes while conditioning them, so they remain supple and healthy. This mascara is amazing, never clumps, never flakes, and never gives me spider lashes.

20200423_151536

Mini MAC Strobe Cream $16 at Ulta. The full sized is $35 for 1.07 fluid ounces at Ulta and comes in 3 shades. In the mini it only comes in the shade Goldlite (golden pearls). This is billed as being super-powered with potent botanicals, it boosts the look of dull, flat, or tired-looking skin with nutritious vitamins and a mega-dose of green tea. Brightens and clarifies with iridescent particles and antioxidants. Adds the softest glow to skin in sunlight to spotlight.

20200423_161909

It comes out of the tube white and feels like a gel. I’m a bit disappointed in this one. It’s extremely subtle. Barely any glow at all. I’ll have to play around with it and figure out how best to use it.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash.

Tarte Limited Edition Park Ave Princess Waterproof Face & Body Bronzer $34 for .55 ounces of product at Ulta. It’s billed as a long-wearing, waterproof formula delivers a universally flattering, instant bronze for your face & body. It’s a super silky, lightweight powder instantly evens skin tone & delivers a natural-looking bronze wherever applied. Covers & blurs the look of imperfections while giving a more-toned appearance. Amazonian clay for better, longer, truer wear. I’ve always wanted to own this bronzer and thought I’d give it a go since I’m already almost done my Benefit Hoola and will have a space for another bronzer soon.

The picture on the left is with flash and the one on the right is with no flash.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. I didn’t know this bronzer was a glowy bronzer … I’m starting to fall in love with the glowy dewy look so I am excited to try this one out.

NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner $4.00 for .03 ounces of product at Ulta. This is my all time favorite lip liner color. I have 1 back up and 1 open almost done so I purchased 2 more back ups.

20200423_152037

L’Oreal Rouge Signature Lightweight Matte Lip Stain in the shade I Create (soft nude rose). $5.99 for .23 fluid ounces of product at Ulta. This lippie is billed as providing the color impact of a liquid lipstick with a weightless, bare-lip sensation. This formula is HEAVEN! I love this product so much, I owned 2 other shades before this one and decided when I placed my order to pick up 3 more shades.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash.

20200423_151849

L’Oreal Rouge Signature Lightweight Matte Lip Stain in the shade I Empower (soft nude peach). $5.99 for .23 fluid ounces of product at Ulta.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash.

20200423_152037

L’Oreal Rouge Signature Lightweight Matte Lip Stain in the shade I Tease (soft taupey pink). $5.99 for .23 fluid ounces of product at Ulta.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash.

DermaBlend Cover Care Full Coverage Concealer $28 for .33 fluid ounces of product at Ulta. This concealer comes in 16 shades with 5 shades for deeper skin tones and I purchased the shade 15N Fair/Light. This is a full coverage concealer … a super full coverage concealer and a very little goes a very long way. It’s thick and remains tacky to the touch so you would do best with setting this one as soon as you blend it in.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. This is the swatch with a very thin pea sized layer. I could have covered the whole hand and still have some left over. I’m looking forward to trying this one out.

Tarte Creaseless Undereye Concealer $26 for .23 fluid ounces of product at Ulta. It comes in 30 shades, 13 shades for deeper skin and I purchased the shade 20 N Light. This product is billed as being able to cover dark circles, hyper-pigmentation & redness with a waterproof formula doesn’t crease or sit in fine lines and powered by vitamin C-rich maracuja for firmer, brighter & smoother-looking skin. This one felt a but sticky at first but blended out to be soft and hydrating on the back of my hand.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. This is another concealer that where a little bit goes a long way. I’m not sure about the creaseless claim… I did see it seep into the fine lines of the back of my hand … I’ll have to keep you posted.

NYX Born to Glow Radiant Concealer $9 for .14 fluid ounces at Ulta. It comes in 24 shades with 10 for deeper skin and I chose the shade Fair. It’s billed as being a micro pearl-infused illuminating concealer that blurs imperfections adding instant radiance and brightening the appearance of a dull complexion and as being formulated to perfectly match their Born to Glow Foundation.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. This one isn’t as tacky or thick as the last few in this post but it is high pigment so you wont need much to correct the undereye.

DermaBlend Flawless Creator Liquid Foundation Drops $40 for 1 fluid ounce at Ulta. It comes in 22 shades with 10 shades for deeper skin and I have the shade 30 N (light skin with neutral undertones). This is the 2018 Allure Best of Beauty Winner. It’s billed as a water-free, oil-free liquid foundation that has a unique, silky texture that provides weightless, full coverage and a natural finish. Formulated with only 10 ingredients, you get pigments at their purest: a little goes a long way. Use alone or mix drops with your skincare products, such as a face moisturizer, serum, sunscreen, and more. Customize your coverage: for lighter coverage use 1 drop, for maximum coverage use up to 4 drops. Developed in true-to-tone, fade-proof shades. Never cakey or masky for an even and natural look. Provides 16 hours of comfortable wear that is smudge-and transfer-resistant.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. Dolls when they say a little goes a long way they were not kidding. After taking this swatch picture I tested to see just how far I could get this swatch to spread… It spread from the back of my hand to 3 fingers up my wrist! I am intrigued by this one and will be putting it to the test tomorrow.

Tarte Travel Size Babassu Foundcealer Skincare Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 $15 for .33 fluid ounces of product … the full sized is $39 for 1 fluid ounce of product at Ulta. The travel size comes in 6 shades with 1 for deep skin and I chose the shade 27 N Light/Medium Neutral… in the full sized bottle comes in 30 shades with 12 for deeper skin. This foundation is billed as a skincare foundation and  delivers an ultra-comfortable, natural radiant finish & medium customizable coverage and that it helps hydrate & give the appearance of plumper skin while minimizing the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. This one says medium buildable coverage however I found with this swatch it was straight full coverage. It felt thick on the back of my hand so I have a feeling this one is going to feel mask like on the face … I’ll keep you posted.

Benefit Hello Happy Flawless Brightening Foundation $30 for 1 fluid ounce of product at Ulta. This one comes in 12 shades with 5 for deeper skin and I am in the shade 4 Medium Neutral. This one is billed as a medium-coverage liquid foundation with SPF 15 that feels lightweight, looks natural and is virtually undetectable on skin. Contains photochromic pigments that instantly adapt to brighten skin in any lighting, flower acids to help boost radiance* and hyaluronic acid to attract moisture to the skin’s surface and help maintain hydration. I have the travel sized that I hauled a few months back and so I have a great understanding of this foundation. This is a beautiful foundation. It’s not too heavy and doesn’t cake up or go patchy. It doesn’t break down throughout the day. I really truly like this foundation.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. In pictures this foundation looks as if it’s too dark… but in person it’s a spot on match for me.

Tarte Maracuja Tinted Moisturizer $29 for 1 fluid ounce of product at Ulta and is also offered in a travel sized bottle for $15 but is only offered in 3 shades for the travel size. In the full sized tube it comes in 30 shades with 15 for deeper skin and I chose the shade 20 N Light Neutral. It’s billed as an ultra-lightweight & hydrating tinted moisturizer that delivers a sheer wash of color while infusing skin with maracuja super fruit for 12-hour hydration & wear. It also says the best way to apply is with the fingers.

The picture on the left is with no flash and the one on the right is with flash. This is a super light weight product. I look forward to trying it out. I have yet to find a tinted moisturizer that I like and from swatching this one I really think I’m going to like this one. I’ll test it out on my next “no makeup” makeup day.

Smokey Bronze Face of the Day

Published March 29, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How’s you day/night going? Great I hope. I’m feeling a bit better but am FINALLY off of quarantine!!! The doctor’s office called and told me that my Covid-19 test came back NEGATIVE!!! So I went food shopping today so I could get a bit of fresh air and sun, if only for a few moments.

Today I am wearing Juicy Couture as my perfume. I wanted to go glam today so this is the look I came up with. So let’s jump into this Face of the Day ….

20200329_172530

Base:                                                                                                                                                         I primed my face using JCat Beauty Prime and Glow Face Illuminator ($7.99 on their website) in the Licorice formula. I set my full face with Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Setting Powder ($33 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. I warmed up my face using MAC Bronzing Powder ($30 at MAC) in the shade Matte Bronzer. For touch up powder today I am using Catrice Prime and Fine Mattifying Waterproof Powder ($7.49 at Ulta) in the shade transparent.

20200329_172456

Eyes:                                                                                                                                                         I primed my lids using P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5 and today I chose not to set the base. For today’s eye look I used the Urban Decay Born To Run palette ($49 at Sephora). For my transition shade I used the color Riff (brown-nude with floating micro-sparkle lightly sequin). For my outer v, crease, and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid I used the shade Punk (red-brown matte). On the remaining 2/3 of my mobile lid I used the color Double Life  (rust metallic) and then I used the shade Ignite (rose gold metallic) over the inner 1/3 of the mobile lid to add extra dimension. On the lower lash line I created a drop shadow using more of the shade Riff. I deepened the lash line using more of the shade Punk and then I used more of the shade Ignite on the inner 1/3 of the lash line. I highlighted the corners using Stranded (pale rose gold shimmer) I tight lined the upper and lower waterlines using Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen ($12 at Target) in the shade Black Caviar (deep brown). I set my brows using Maybelline Great Lash Mascara ($6.99 at Ulta but I purchased mine from Amazon) in clear and then filled in my brows using Milani Stay Put Brow Color ($8.49 at Ulta) in the shade 05 Dark Brown. I carved out my brow line using the BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte sides and set the brow line using L’Oreal 24-HR Infallible Eyeshadow ($7.99 at Walmart) in the shade 899 Endless Pearl (a creamy vanilla matte). I popped on a pair of Profusion Beauty 3D Faux Mink Lashes ($7 for pack of 5 on their website) in the style Big Tease and coated my upper and lower lashes with L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara ($8.99 at Ulta).

20200329_172631

Cheeks and Lips:                                                                                                                               For blush I am using JCat Beauty BlushMellow ($4.99 on their website) in the shade Tutti Fluffy (a bright coral matte). I highlighted my Cupid’s Bow, tops of the cheeks, bridge of the nose, center of my chin, and high points of the brows using Essence Pure Nude Highlighter ($4.99 at Ulta) in the shade 10 Be My Highlight. I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil ($6 on their website) in the shade Brink (terracotta rose) and filled in my lips using ColourPop Lippie Stix ($7 on their website) in the shade Slacker (soft salmon creme).

20200329_172652

Final Thoughts:                                                                                                                                      It feels great to be off quarantine finally. I missed just being able to go to the end of my driveway to get the mail. I missed food shopping and I missed hugging my God baby who lives with me.

When I went food shopping today I still exercised caution and stayed 6 feet away from everyone… used disinfecting wipes on the food buggy before using it, did not touch my face (this one was hard because my nose is still runny and my brow itched a ton), and as soon as I came home I promptly washed my hands. I had forgotten my gloves when I left so I washed my hands for a full minute to make sure I killed any potential bacteria.

I did noticed that there were a heap of cars on the road today …. seems like not everyone is adhering to the shelter in place order for my county.

I was able to help an older lady today at the food store which made me feel good and I made sure to make it a point to thank my cashier for their hard work as well….

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you are in good health and spirits and that you have a great rest of your day/night. Remember dolls …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO

Purple Smokey Glam Face of the Day

Published March 28, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I over slept today. I didn’t get out of bed until around 12 PM. I had trouble sleeping again last night, was in a heap of pain and couldn’t stop coughing. I only just finished my makeup until 5:30 PM. So this makeup look wont be long lived…. I normally take my makeup off around 8 PM… but it’s OK because at least I got to play with my makeup and that always is a decompression for me….. Today I’m wear Michael Kors Sexy Blossom perfume …. Let’s jump into the Face of the Day ….

20200328_181909

Base:                                                                                                                                                         I primed my face using Physicians Formula SoftLight Blurring Primer ($15.99 on their website) and I blurred my pores using Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Sephora). For foundation today I am wearing a combo of 2 squeezes of Pixi by Petra Flawless Beauty Primer ($22 on their website) and a dollop of Wet n Wild PhotoFocus Dewy Foundation ($6.49 at Ulta) in the shade Soft Beige. I lightly color corrected my under eyes using Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 at Target and on the Pixi Beauty website) in the shade Brightening Peach. I used 3 dots under each eye of Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Liquid Concealer ($32 at Sephora) in the shade 5.5 Medium.  I set my full face using Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($23 at Sephora) in the shade Translucent. I warmed up my face using BH Cosmetics Brilliance Bronzer ($10 at Ulta) in the shade Bronze Babe. For touch up powder today I am using Physicians Formula Natural Defense Setting the Tone Finishing Powder ($14.99 at Target) in the shade Light.

For my first transition shade I used the color Weekender  (light neutral beige matte). As my second transition and also crease color I used the shade Riff (brown-nude with floating micro-sparkle a light sequin shadow). For my full mobile lid I used the shade Wild Heart (bright fuchsia satin). I then went in with the shade Hell Ride (deep fuchsia matte) on the outer v and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid. I then took the shade Guilt Trip  (smoky purple shimmer) over the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid to blend the outer and inner 1/3 together. For the lower lash line I created a drop shadow using more of the shade Hell Ride (deep fuchsia matte) and then went in with more of the shade Wild Heart (bright fuchsia satin) added to the inner 1/3 of the lower lash line. I highlighted my inner corners using ColourPop Disney Designer Collection (was limited edition and no longer sold) A Smile and a Song (a very warm toned light gold metallic finished). I lined my lower waterlines using ColourPop Lippie Pencil (only available in the Lippie Pencil Vault on their website) in the shade TBH (deep violet).

Cheeks and Lips:                                                                                                                                My blush today is Tarte 12-HR Amazonian Clay Blush ($29 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Captivating (bright peach matte). I highlighted my Cupid’s Bow, tops of the cheeks, bridge of the nose, center of my chin, and high points of the brows using ColourPop Disney Designer Collection (a very warm toned light gold metallic finished) A Smile and a Song (was limited edition and no longer sold). I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil (this color is only available in the lippie pencil vault on their website) in the shade Lumiere (dusty mauve pink) and filled in the lips using ColourPop Lippie Stix (available only in the Lippie Stix Vault on their website) in the shade Westie  (Soft cool-toned pink matte).

Final Thoughts:                                                                                                                                  I’m starting to notice a bigger difference in my eye brows since I started using Black Castor Oil 2 weeks ago. My brow hairs that I already had are a bit more bushy and the ones that were non-existent are starting to grow longer. With a bit of hope I will have full arches and tails of the brows  by this time next month.

Because I woke up so late I wont be able to rearrange my bedroom like I wanted…. Hopefully I will be able to get to it tomorrow.

Well that’s all for now dolls. Hope you are in good health and good spirits and that you have a great rest of your day/night. Remember dolls …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Orange Glam Look Face of the Day

Published March 27, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! How are you doing today? Great I hope. I got up feeling pretty good today. Nose is still running but my sore throat is gone. I didn’t get much sleep last night because I was up coughing a heap but even with that I feel pretty OK today. I got up wanting to play with my Urban Decay Born To Run palette ($49 at Sephora) and I wanted to go a little glam today too so this was the look I came up with. Today ends my scent of the day series as I have run out of  new perfumes to share with you…. though I think I may still share with you what scent I am wearing …. I just wont be doing an individual picture and scent note for them since I already have done my whole collection. *NOTE* these pictures don’t do this eye look justice! For 1 it doesn’t look like the orange pop on the outer v is blended in but it truly is and there is this amazingly pretty gradient of colors that isn’t showing up on camera. So let’s jump into today’s scent and Face of the Day ….

Screenshot_20200327-155806_Chrome

Beyonce Heat. My mom actually gave me this perfume. But I did find it on Amazon for $12.50 for a 3.4 fluid ounce bottle. The scent notes are: Red Vanilla Orchid, Magnolia, Neroli, Peach, Honeysuckle, Almond, Musky Cream, Sequoia Wood, Tonka, and Amber. This scent is slightly sweet but heady with musk. It’s a very exotic scent. I have plans on repurchasing this one when I run out because I don’t have anything like this scent in my collection and it’s another scent that I get tons of complements on and questions as to what I am wearing.

Base:                                                                                                                                                         I primed my face using Physicians Formula SoftLight Blurring Primer ($15.99 on their website) and I blurred my pores using Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Sephora). For foundation today I am wearing a combo of 2 squeezes of Pixi by Petra Flawless Beauty Primer ($22 on their website) and 10 pumps L’Oreal Infallible 24-HR Fresh Wear Foundation ($14.99 at Ulta) in the shade 420 True Beige. I lightly color corrected my under eyes using Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 at Target and on the Pixi Beauty website) in the shade Brightening Peach. I used 3 dots under each eye of Private Society Coveted Concealer ($22 on their website) in the shade Medium.  I set my full face using Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($23 at Sephora) in the shade Translucent. I warmed up my face using BH Cosmetics Brilliance Bronzer ($10 at Ulta) in the shade Bronze Babe. For my full mobile lid I took went into the shade Accelerate (reddish copper metallic) and then tapped the shade Ignite (rose gold metallic) over the middle 1/3 of the lid for added dimension. For the outer v and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid I used the shade Baja (burnt orange matte). For the lower lash line I created a drop shadow using more of the shade Riff and then I went in and smoked that out using more of the shade Weekender. I then went in closest to the lash line and used more of the shade Baja from the outer end to 2/3 of the way in and then used a combo of the shades Accelerate and Ignite for the remaining 1/3 of the lash line. I tight lined both my upper and lower lash line using Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Pen ($12 at Target and on the Pixi website) in the shade Black Caviar (a deep rich brown). Final Thoughts:                                                                                                                                   So I’m still waiting for my Covid-19 test results…. I’m going stir crazy at this point…. I mean I know we are on lock down right now, but if I couldn’t only get my test results back at least I’d be able to get out to go to the super market to food shop with my husband. I’m just so frustrated right now.

The President has signed our country’s Covid-19 Stimulus Package Bill so hopefully within a few weeks we will get some much needed help with our bills. I feel bad because I’ve had to dodge my non-essential bills because we just can’t pay them right now because my husband had to take a pay cut to stay working…. which has had a trickle down effect on our budget (as it has for many of us).

This weekend, to break up the monotony I was thinking of rearranging the furniture of my bedroom and living room. I also keep forgetting that we have a pool table/ping pong table that we could be using because it’s in our lanai so technically we are still sheltering in place.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope and pray that you are all in good spirits and in good health. Have a great rest of your day/night. Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Taupe Eye Face of the Day

Published March 23, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope.I’m off to a late start today. Slept in until 8:30 Am. Stayed up late watching YouTube videos. I learned how to laminate my brows at home …. I really want to try this but I have to wait till my brows grow in thicker before I try it. I still don’t have the Covid-19 test results back … My doctor said that they are still a few days to a week backed up on top of the 10 extra days that they initially states. So that’s a bit frustrating. Hubby went back to work today after a week off. He was told today that his company may have to go on temporary layoff for non essential personnel and that essential personnel may have to go on furlough for a week or two or possible take a 10% cut in pay …. so that’s a bit troublesome. Well enough of the stressful let’s talk scent and Face of the Day ….

Screenshot_20200323-153603_Chrome

JLo Glow bu Jennifer Lopez. I purchased mine from Fragrencenet.com for $30 for a 3.4 fkuid ounce bottle. I enjoy this scent very much. It just doesn’t stick around long. I clock the staying power to be around 3 hours tops. But I like it enough that I don’t mind reapplying when needed. When I worked I would simply take a travel atomizer with me filled with this perfume. Top notes are Grapefruit, Mandarin, and Neroli. Middle notes are: Iris, Rose, Tuberose, Jasmine, and Orange Blossom. The scent is round out with bottom notes of: Musk, Amber, Sandalwood, and Vanilla. When I was healthy this use to be my everyday work scent. This is a fresh sweet musky scent that pairs great with a cute top and jeans and also with a cute little summer dress and flip flops. My husband really likes this scent too so I wear it often on date night.

For today’s eye look I used the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette (was $54 but is now discontinued …. can still be found on some websites and on Amazon). For my transition shade I used the color Faith (a medium dark brown with warm yellow undertones matte). As my crease and the outer 1/3 of my mobile lid I used the shade Look Out (a warm dark brown matte). On the remaining 2/3 of my mobile lid I used the shade Pre-Game (a warm yellow matte) and then I layered the Hikari Creme Pigment ($15 on their website) in the shade Fairytale (an icy white shimmer). I then went in with just a little of the shade Extra Bitter (a warm medium copper brown with a slight reddish undertone matte) and dusted it at the top of my transition shade to add a bit more warmth in the transition. I also used this shade on the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid to blend the outer and inner 1/3 together. For the lower lash line I used more of the shade Faith (a medium dark brown with warm yellow undertones matte) and then went in with more of the shade Extra Bitter (a warm medium copper brown with a slight reddish undertone matte). I lined my lower waterlines using BH Cosmetics Power Pencil ($8 at Ulta and on their website) in the shade Beige. I highlighted my Cupid’s Bow, tops of the cheeks, bridge of the nose, center of my chin, and high points of the brows using Jouer Powder Highlighter ($24 at Sephora) in the shade Citrine (Shimmering Gold).  I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil (only sold in the lippie pencil vault on their website) in the shade Hoopty (burgundy) and filled in the lips using ColourPop Lippie Stix (only sold in the lippie stix vault on their website) in the shade Thousand Percent  (rich chocolate cherry matte).

Final Thoughts:                                                                                                                                      I really don’t have much to say for my final thoughts this week. I’m starting to get cabin fever as is probably most of the world right now. I had a company reach out to me to test out one of their products for review …. I will haul it and then review it once I receive it. I should be receiving my purchase from ColourPop of a palette I put together and 2 more lipsticks tomorrow so I will haul and swatch them tomorrow for you …. I did get the bad news that ColourPop has suspended their processing and distribution centers so until this Corona Virus thing is over I wont be able to swatch or haul the new Mulan Collection for you…. I will once I have received it. Also I purchased a full face of the K-Beauty brand Joah and am currently waiting for my order to be processed and shipped. I took advantage of their sale that they are currently running for buy 1 get 1 1/2 off … I got 25 items for $20 including tax and shipping.

Well that’s all for now dolls. Hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night, that you are in good health, that you are in great spirits, and that you are having a good pain day. Remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

Revisiting My Stash Face of the Day

Published February 6, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great day/night. I woke up super early today, had a Psychiatrist appointment today. I’m feeling pretty good today. Low pain day and so far my energy is good too. I am still weeding through my makeup to see what I will and wont declutter. For today I have chosen to test out the following products for culling… Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette, Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer, It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-1 Clinically Proven Mascara, Inglot Eyeliner Gel, MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot, Jouer Powder Highlighter, Urban Decay Afterglow 8 Hour Powder Blush, and Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Longwear High Coverage Foundation. As per the usual, I’ll be talking about these products and also saying whether or not I will be decluttering them from my collection in Final Thoughts. So let’s jump into the face of the day….

20200206_112615

Base: I primed the face using Marc Jacobs Invisible Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer ($45 at Sephora) and ELF Poreless Putty Primer ($8 at Ulta and on the ELF website). I color corrected using Tarte CC Undereye Corrector ($25 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Light-Medium. My foundation today is Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Longwear High Coverage Foundation ($65 at Sephora) in the shade 5.5. I concealed the under eyes using Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer (Discontinued) in the shade R22. I warmed up the face using Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel ($50 on their website) in the shade Universal Bronze. I set my face using Wet n Wild Photofoucs Pressed Powder ($2.75 at Walmart, Walgreens, and on their website) in the shade Neutral Beige. I set my under eyes and baked the jaw line, bridge of the nose, and center of my forehead using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website).

20200206_112537

Eyes: I primed my lids using MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot ($22 at Ulta and MAC) in the shade Soft Ochre and set it using Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. For today’s eye look I used the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette ($29.50 on Amazon and $44 on the Too Faced website). For my transition shade I used the color Almond Truffle (a dusty mauve matte). In my crease I used the color Mocha (a mid-toned brown matte). On the outer 1/3 of my mobile lid I used the color Dark Truffle (a dark chocolate brown with pink reflect metallic). On the inner 1/3 I used the color Molasses Chip (a taupey gold metallic). Then on the middle 1/3 of my mobile lid I used the color Cafe Au Lait (a light taupe with silver reflect metallic) to blend the inner and outer 1/3 together. I then went back in with Dark Truffle on the outer 1/3 and Molasses Chip on the inner 1/3. I then mixed Dark Truffle, Molasses Chip, and Cafe Au Lait together and further blended the inner and outer 1/3 together more. I then went in with the color Bordeaux (a cherry chocolate matte) and deepened the outer v and blended it into the lower part of m crease. I set my brows using Pixi by Petra Brow Tamer ($9.99 at Target and on their website) in clear and filled in the brows using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta) in the shade 4.5 and carved out the brow line using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the shimmer side and then set that with the color Divinity (a peachy toned vanilla matte). I created a drop shadow on the lower lash line using more of the shade Mocha and smoked that out using a hint of Almond Truffle. I then lined my upper lash line and lower waterline using Inglot Eyeliner Gel ($17 on the Beautylish website) in the shade 77 Black. I then smoked the lower lash line out further using more of the color Bordeaux. I highlighted the inner corners using the color Satin Sheets (a pale gold metallic). For my lashes I used It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-1 Clinically Proven Mascara ($27 at Ulta) in the shade Blackest Black.

20200206_112725

Cheeks and Lips: For blush today I used Urban Decay Afterglow 8 Hour Powder Blush (Discontinued) in the shade Rapture (a dusty plumy mauve matte). To highlight my Cupid’s Bow, center of the forehead, tops of the cheeks, and bridge of the nose I used Jouer Powder Highlighter ($24 at Sephora and on the Beautylish website) in the shade Citrine (a golden champagne). I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil ($6 on their website) in the shade BFF (a warm tan nude) and filled in the lips using BH Cosmetics Cashmere Cream Comfort Lipstick ($8 but on sale for $6 on their website) in the shade Roast (a warm light brown nude).

20200206_112633

Final Thoughts: Just 1 side note … the BH Cosmetics Cashmere Cream Comfort Lipsticks are turning out to be my favorite lipstick formula!!! The last 2 I tried have been very comfortable on the lips and have been long wearing. They have also not feathered or traveled outside the lip line and fade evenly. I will be purchasing other shades in this line.

Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette:                                                                                             I purchased this one on impulse and have never used it until today (that was 2 years ago!!!) I really liked using this palette today. The shadows were creamy and blended out perfectly without skipping or going patchy. There was zero kick back in the pans and no fall out on the face. The shades buffed into each other without going muddy and the metallics are beautifully blended. They can go on sheer with little pressure or high impact with a damp shader brush. I am going to continue to use this palette, there are just enough metallic shades that I can get different looks every time I use this one. I will not be decluttering this palette from my collection.

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer:                                                                    This is such a small tube of concealer that I often over look it, but every time I do use this concealer I remember just how much I love it. The sad part is it’s discontinued so I wouldn’t be able to repurchase it. It’s the perfect under eye concealer color and it buffs into the under eye beautifully. I never have creasing with this one and I often forget and use way too much but it never ends up looking cakey. I am not going to declutter this one from my collection.

It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-1 Clinically Proven Mascara:                                                            I have hated this mascara every time I have picked it up. I hate the brush applicator, I hate the formula, I hate how it looks on my lashes…. I just truly HATE this mascara. So no surprise when I say I have decluttered it from my collection.

Inglot Eyeliner Gel:                                                                                                                         This is another pot eyeliner that I didn’t even know I had. I opened it for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised to find that it went on smoothly on my waterlines. This is one of few gel pot liners that do not skip on my mobile lids. I liked the formula and how black it is. I liked it so much that I promptly purchased it in 90 Brown. It should be no surprise that I will not be decluttering this one from my collection.

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot:                                                                                                             I use this one every now and then. But lately I haven’t really liked using it. It makes my lids look incredibly dry and I don’t truly like the way my shadows go on over it. It doesn’t go on smoothly and it doesn’t really do anything special for my eye looks.  I prefer my Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) much more than I ever have the paint pots. I have decluttered this one from my collection.

Jouer Powder Highlighter:                                                                                                                 It took me forever to be able to purchase this one. It was all the craze 2 years ago and was always out of stock. I finally was able to purchase it and have loved it every since. I don’t love it right away though…. I think it goes on too textured when I first apply it but after I use some setting spray it just melts into the skin so beautifully and so seamlessly. I don’t use it as much as I thought I would, mainly because I have such an extensive highlighter collection, but I do love it every time I use it. I will not be decluttering it from my collection.

Urban Decay Afterglow 8 Hour Powder Blush:                                                                        This blush goes on so patchy and so underwhelming. I think that is because of the shade I chose, but it’s just hard to work with. It’s dusty and powdery and accentuates every little texture on your cheeks. I have decluttered this one from my collection.

Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Longwear High Coverage Foundation:                                     This is the most expensive foundation I have ever owned, but I freaking love this foundation!!! Every time I have used it I have loved the way my skin looks. I have it in a shade that use to match me, but doesn’t anymore. Even so I love this foundation. I have it in the shade 5.5 and it’s a bit too deep for me. I don’t even mind, I can make it work. I will continue to use this bottle up and then I will repurchase it in the shade 5. I will not be decluttering this one from my collection.

Well there you have it… I have reviewed 8 older products and out of the 8 I have decluttered 3 of them.

Well I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits. I hope that if you have an invisible illness, like I do with Fibromyalgia, that you are having a low pain day, and that you have plenty of spoons. Stay tuned tomorrow when I continue culling my makeup stash and remember …. Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO

Blue Smokey Eye Face of the Day

Published February 4, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great day/night. I’m having an OK day today. Woke up early for a change and have some energy though it feels like the energy is dwindling rapidly today…. I may need to nap today. Today I continue my journey to curate my makeup collection by testing out 7 more older products in my collection…. Clinique High Impact Mascara ($19.50 on their website and at Ulta), Marc Jacob Invisible Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer ($45 at Sephora), Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($45 at Sephora), Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (discontinued), Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup (on sale for $20 on their website), MAC Mineralize Skin Finish ($36 at MAC), and Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette (Discontinued). I will reveal what I am keeping and what I am decluttering of these 7 items in Final Thoughts…. for now, let’s jump into the Face of the Day….

20200204_130151

Base: I primed my face using the Marc Jacob Invisible Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer ($45 at Sephora) and then went in with the Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($45 at Sephora) in the shade Dew You? all over the face to add extra glow to the skin. I color corrected using Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 at Target) in the shade Brightening Peach. For foundation I am wearing Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup (on sale for $20 on their website) in the shade 4.0 and then I concealed my under eyes using Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (discontinued) in the shade medium-Light. I set my face using Revolution Pro Powder Foundation ($7 on their website) in the shade F5. I warmed up the face using Revolution Bronzer Reloaded ($7 on their website) in the shade Take a Vacation. I set my under eyes and baked the jaw line, center of the forehead, and bridge of my nose using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website).

20200204_130126

Eyes: I primed the lids using Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) in the shade Light-Medium Honey and set that using some Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Sephora) in the shade Translucent. For today’s eye look I used the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette (discontinued). For my transition shade I tried to use the color Nogut  (a very light dusty mauve matte) but it didn’t show up deep enough for me so I covered it up using the shade Peanut Butter (an orange based tan matte). I deepened my crease and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid using the shade Truffled (a deep chocolate brown matte). I then created a cut crease using some more Shape Tape. I used a combination the shades Frosting (a mid-toned brown with a taupe flip) and Cocoa Chili (a deep brown with golden flecks sequin) on the outer 1/2 of the mobile lid. On the inner 1/2 of the mobile lid I used the shade Blueberry Swirl (a navy with lighter blue reflect metallic). I then took the shade Bon Bon (a peach with a golden flip metallic) into the middle 1/3 to blend the outer and inner 1/2 of the mobile lid together. I then took the shade Pink Sugar (a pale pink glitter topper) and patted that over the shade Blueberry Swirl. I took the shade Puddin’ (a dusty deep brown matte) and deepened the outer v. For my lower lash line I created a drop shadow using more of the shade Peanut Butter and then deepened very close to the lower lash line using more of the shade Truffled. I used the shade Butter Pecan (a pale peach metallic) to highlight the inner corners. In my waterlines I used Revolution Pro Supreme Pigment Gel Eye Liner ($5 on their website) in the shade Nude. I then set my brow hair using Pixi by Petra Brow Gel ($9.99 at Target) in clear and filled in my brows using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta) in the shade 4.5 and carved out my brow line using the BH Studio Pro Brow Highlight ($5 on their website) on the matte side and set that using the shade Coconut Creme (a flat vanilla matte). For mascara I used Clinique High Impact Mascara ($19.50 on their website and at Ulta) in the shade Black.

20200204_130044

Cheeks and Lips: On my cheeks today I used the Rimmel London Kate Sculpting Kit ($5.99 at Target) in the shade 002 Coral Glow (the blush is a coral satin). I started to highlight my face using the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish ($36 at MAC) in the shade Warm Rose but it just didn’t give me any real highlight so I ended up popping back into the Kate Sculpting Kit again and used the Highlight shade (a dust champagne) to highlight the tops of my cheeks, bridge of my nose, Cupid’s Bow, and center of my forehead. I lined my lips using the Flower Beauty Petal Pout Lip Liner ($6 on their website $4.50 at Walmart) in the shade Rose (a soft rosey pink) and then filled in mi lips using the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips ($34 on the Beautylish website and the Charlotte Tilbury website) in the shade Pin-Up Pink (a coral pink matte liquid lipstick).

Final Thoughts:

Clinique High Impact Mascara:                                                                                                      It’s an OK Mascara. It’s better for the bottom lashes than the top lashes. It doesn’t give much volume or length. I have tons of mascaras that do a better job so I have chosen to declutter this one from my collection.

Marc Jacob Invisible Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer:                                        This primer is very hydrating but does nothing to blur the texture to the face. It’s a nice primer and I don’t have very much of it left, so I think I’m going to use up what I have left but I will not be repurchasing it.

Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter:                                                                   This is a liquid highlighter. I use it as a primer base. I like how glowy it makes me look but I don’t like how greasy it feels. I have a lot of this product left and since I do like the look it gives me I will be keeping it in my collection. Once I have used it up though, I will not be repurchasing it.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer:                                  This concealer is so lift weight. It does a decent job of covering my under eyes and never creases on me. This is a discontinued product so part of my wants to declutter it from my collection since I wont be able to repurchase it but part of my also wants to keep it and use up the product I have left…. I will keep this one around for this month, but if I haven’t finished it by the end of February than I will declutter it.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup:                                       I truly believe this one is being fazed out. You can only find it on their website and on Amazon. Not all of the shades are available either. It’s a shame, I really do love this foundation. I love how light it feels and the finish on the skin. It’s a bit dark for me now, but I can make it work. I have a ton of it left so I think what I will do, since I have all 4 of the Naked foundations is… I will declutter the Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation since I feel like that one isn’t as good as the other 3 that I have and then I will try and use this one up by the end of April. If I haven’t used it up by April I will declutter it from my collection.

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish… specifically in the shade Warm Rose:                                   This highlighter is just a waste of time for me. There’s no shine to it, it’s just a bright powdery messy. I have even tried it as an all over finishing powder and that didn’t seem to work either…. I have decluttered this from my collection.

Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette:                                                                            This palette has been discontinued. Out of all the Too Faced palettes I own, this one is my all time favorite palette. I have loved every look I come up with using it and I love all the shades minus Pink Sugar (mainly because it’s just a glitter topper and I don’t use those often). There is almost zero kick back in the pans and there is ZERO fall out on the face, even with the metallics. The shades are pigmented and buttery smooth and blend out well and also buff into each other without going muddy. I am keeping this palette in my collection.

*Bonus Item* I also declutter the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette ($54 at Ulta):                         I have tried using this one a few time this past month and I just didn’t like the looks I created with it, I never really reach for it because I almost always have to reach for another palette to get a complete look. The shadows are powdery and the shimmers are under whelming. So I have decided to delclutter this palette.

20200204_130241

So there you have it… I decluttered 2 of the 7 older products with the potential to declutter 2 more by April. Well I hope you have a great rest of your day/night and that the day finds you in good spirits. Remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO

Revisiting Older Makeup Face of the Day

Published February 1, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great day/night. It’s raining here in Florida today so I am in considerable pain. It’s doesn’t help that it’s cold too. I am continuing the pursuit to curate my makeup collection so I have 4 more products I revisited today to see if I will declutter or keep them.  Today I test out the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette ($54 at Sephora), The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($30 at Ulta, Sephora, and on their website), and Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation ($39 at Sephora and on their website), and Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette ($48 at Sephora). Unlike yesterday I actually had a really good makeup day. Everything applied well and there where no hick-ups. Like yesterday I will explain my feeling about and whether or not I will be keeping each product in Final Thoughts… So let’s jump into the Face of the Day ….

20200201_123956

Base: I primed my face using the Flower Beauty In Your Prime Pore-Minimizing Primer ($10.99 at Ulta). My foundation is Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation ($39 at Sephora and their website) in the shade Light Sand. I had very dark circles today so I used the Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 at Target and on their website) in the shade Brightening Peach and then concealed my under eyes using NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($30 at Ulta, Sephora, and their website) in the shade Medium 1 Custard. I set my face using Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. I warmed up my face using Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette ($48 at Sephora) and I went in with the shade Shadowplay (the middle bronzer shade). I set my under eyes and baked my jaw line, bridge of the nose, and center of my forehead using the RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website).

20200201_123820

Eyes: I primed my lids using Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) in the shade Light-Medium Honey and set it with more of the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder. For my transition shade I used the color Tease (a grey toned medium brown matte). I used the shade Verve (an icy taupe shimmer) all over the mobile lid and then I used the color Snakebite (a chocolate brown with bronze reflect shimmer) on the outer 1/2 of my mobile lid. I then warmed up the crease using the shade Subconscious (the 3rd shade of the bronzers from the Kat Von D Palette) and I also took that same shade onto the outer 1/3 of my mobile lid. I then took the shade YDK (a rosey taupe shimmer) and placed that on the middle 1/3 to blend the outer and inner colors. I then took more of Tease to the bottom lash line and used more of Subconscious to deepen the lower lash line further. I did my brows using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta) in the shade 4.5 and set the brows using Benefit Gimme Brow Gel ($24 at Ulta) in the shade 6. I carved out my brow bone using the BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the shimmer side and then set that with the Wet n Wild Color Icon Single Shadow ($.99 at Walgreens) in the shade Sugar (an icy white shimmer). I highlighted the inner corners of my eyes with the shade Bootycall (a vanilla satin). I lined my waterlines using Loreal Infallible Longwear Pencil ($8.99 at Ulta) in the shade Nude. For mascara today I am using ColourPop BFF Volumizing Mascara ($8 on their website) in the shade Black on Black.

20200201_123936

Cheeks and Lips: My blush today is the Physicians Formula Butter Blush ($12.49 on their website) in the shade Beachy Peach (a peachy coral satin). I highlighted the tops of my cheeks, Cupid’s Bow, bridge of the nose, and center of the forehead using J Cat Beauty You Glow Girl Baked Highlighter ($8.99 at Ulta and on their website) in the shade Twilight (a golden champagne). I lined my lips using NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta and NYX also available on the NYX website) in the shade Whipped Caviar (a mauve matte) and then I tapped a little bit of Jouer High Pigment Lip Gloss ($17 on their website) in the shade Sloane (a neutral coral) onto the center of my lips and blended it out with my finger to sheer it out a little. I then used the Physicians Formula Natural Defense Setting the Tone Finishing Powder ($14.99 on their website) in the shade Light to just blend everything together.

20200201_123858

Final Thoughts: Before I discuses what I will keep or get rid of I wanted to touch base of a few things …. I declutter the Physicians Formula Natural Defense Setting the Tone Finishing Powder in medium. I had tried it as a bronzer and it just didn’t work out for me so instead of keeping a powder that was too dark for me, I decluttered now that I have the powder in Light. This is not the first time I tried the Jouer High Pigment Lip Gloss… but every time I use it I fall in love with it more. I was having a hard time with this testing today. I really loved everything I tried. All the makeup went on smoothly and blended out seamlessly, But I also have to be a bit cut throat because my makeup collection is growing way too fast for me to get extra storage for…. so here is the break down of the 4 products I wanted to test today….

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette: B+                                                                                                  Out of the 3 original Naked palettes this is my favorite one, however when I picked up this palette today I just wasn’t wowed. Again, just like yesterday, I have other neutral palettes that are more cohesive and have more middle and deep shades to choose from. This palette just does not have a good selection of transition and crease shades and the shimmers just do not have the high impact that you find with newer palettes. If I still worked I probably would have kept this one so a work appropriate smokey eye look, but I don’t and I have other palettes that wow more much more than this one every did. As much as I use to love this one I just can’t keep it just because it use to be my favorite and so I will be decluttering this palette. I will be passing it along to someone I think will get use out of it.

The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer: A+                                                                                        I purchased this concealer back when I was a bit deeper in skin tone. It still works for me, it just doesn’t brighten my under eyes anymore, it’s in the shade Custard. I really love this concealer so much. It’s light weight and doesn’t completely cover my dark circles, but I can use a corrector so that’s no big deal. I am going to keep this one and use it up and then when I repurchase it I will purchase the shade Madeleine instead.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation: A+                                                                         I was going to declutter this one because I thought that it was discontinued, however it’s not the bottle was just changed. I don’t reach for this one often but I really love it. It looks pretty on the face and has an OK staying power. It lasts longer in the Fall and Winter, but I don’t mind using it in the Spring and Summer. I will keep this one and finish it off. Now whether or not I repurchase may be determined by how many foundations I have and whether or not I find anything similar to this one.

Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette: A++                                                                                I know there is tons of controversy surrounding Kat Von D and I have decided not to support her any further…. now her she sold her shares of the company so the company is no longer associated with her so I may purchase stuff from the line in the future, that is if something comes out that wows me…. in the meantime I am using up the products I own currently. This Contour palette is phenomenal!!! There is very little kickback in the pans, the shades buff into the skin wonderfully, and the undertones are spot on. I love all the shades in this palette. I use them as eyeshadow as well. The lighter shades I use to brighten my under eyes and as setting powder for my lid primers. I am definitely keeping this palette.

Well that’s all for now dolls. Stay tuned tomorrow when I review the It’s My Pleasure and the Lilac You A Lot palettes from ColourPop. I will also choose a few more older products to test out to see what I will keep and what I will declutter…. In the meantime I hope you have a good rest of your day/night…. that you are as pain free as possible…. and that they day/night finds you with plenty of spoons…. and don’t forget to save a spoon for a bit of lipstick!!!

XOXO

Testing Out Older Makeup Face of the Day

Published January 31, 2020 by aspooniesmakeupbag

Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great day/night. I’m slowly starting to feel a bit better. I woke up a bit later than I wanted to, got up around 9:30.  I only just finished my makeup and it’s 3:10 pm now!! I had such a hard time doing my makeup today… everything that could go wrong, went wrong with my makeup today. I have decided to go through my makeup collection and start weeding out the stuff that I just am not reaching for anymore and then stuff that is either not my perfect shade match or just not wowing me anymore. Today I started with an eyeshadow palette, concealer, and foundation. I am testing out the Urban Decay Naked Palette (was $54 at Sephora), Stila Aqua Glow Serum Concealer (was $27 at Sephora), and Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able Full Cover Foundation Concentrate ($56 at Sephora). I’ll update you on what I’m keeping and what I’m getting rid of in Final Thoughts….. So let’s jump into the Face of the Day…..

20200131_143955 Base: I primed my face using the AOA Studio Wonder Skin Illuminating Primer ($1 on the Shop Miss A website) and the Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta). My foundation today is Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able Full Cover Foundation Concentrate ($56 at Sephora) in the color 34 Beige Medium. I concealed using the Stila Aqua Glow Serum Concealer (was $27 at Sephora) in the color Light-Medium. I set my face using the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta) in Translucent. I warmed up my face using BH Cosmetics Brilliance Satin Finish Bronzer ($10on their website and at Ulta) in the color Bronze Babe. I set my under eyes and baked the jaw line, bridge of the nose, and center of my forehead using the RCMA No Color Powder ($15 at the Beautylish website).

20200131_144113

Eyes: I primed my lids using Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) in the color Light-Medium Honey and set that using a bit of the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder. I am using 2 palettes today, both from Urban Decay…. the Naked Ultimate Basics (discontinued but can be found on Amazon and at Nordstorm Rack) and the Naked palettes. I started with the Ultimate Basics Palette … For my transition shade I chose the color Faith (a muted gray toned brown matte). I then popped over to the Naked palette and used the color Buck (a dusty mid-toned brown matte) to deepen my crease. I then used the shade sidecar (a taupey shimmer) on the outer 1/2 of my mobile lid. I then used Half Baked (a gold shimmer) on the inner 1/2 of my mobile lid. I then took Smog (a chocolate brown shimmer) and placed that on the middle 1/3 of my mobile lid. I then went back and forth between Half Baked and Smog and built them up until I was satisfied. I then went back to the Ultimate Basics palette and took the shade Extra Bitter (a mid-toned dusty orange matte) and warmed up the crease and the outer 1/3 of my mobile lid. On the lower lash line I took more of Buck and smoked it out. Then I took I mixture of BlackJack (a basic black matte) and Lookout (a soft sable brown matte) and pressed that closest to my lash line. I then took more of Extra Bitter and blended the whole lower lash line. I highlighted my inner corners using Urban Decay Single Shadow () in the color Midnight Cowboy. I did my brows using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta) in the shade 4.5 and set the brows using Benefit Gimme Brow Gel ($24 at Ulta) in the shade 6. I carved out my brow line using Bh Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and set that with the Wet n Wild Color Icon Single Shadow ($.99 at Walgreens) in the shade Sugar. I tight lined my upper waterline using Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen ($12 on their website and at Ulta) in the shade Black Caviar (a deep brown matte). I lined my lower waterline using Loreal Infallible Longwear Eye Pencil ($8.99 at Ulta) in the shade Nude. I used the ColourPop BFF Volumizing Mascara ($8 on their website) in the shade Black on Black.

20200131_144208

Cheeks and Lips: On my cheeks today I have ColourPop Super Shock Cheek ($8 on their website) in the color Quarters (a mid-toned peachy coral satin). I highlighted the tops of my cheeks, Cupid’s Bow, bridge of the nose, and center of my forehead using Flower Beauty Shimmer & Strobe Highlighting Palette ($14 on their website and at Ulta, can be found at Walmart for $5) and I used the 1st and 3rd shade (a pale champagne and a gold). I lined my lips using NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta) in the shade Vintage (a deep burgundy nude) and filled in the lips using MAC Satin Lipstick ($19 at Ulta and at MAC) in the shade Myth (a pale peachy nude).

20200131_143927

Final Thoughts:                                                                                                                                      I had such a hard time doing my makeup… first I tried to use the Pixi eye liner on my lower waterline and it just went so wrong, I smeared all over my lash line and kept lifting off the waterline so I has to remove my lower lash line and then because I did that I had to remove my concealer and start all over which made my under eyes look cakey and creasey. I just can’t seem to find a good dark eyeliner that will stay on my lower waterline!!! That’s so frustrating.

Now on to the products I was checking to see if I would keep or not.

Urban Decay Naked Palette: C-                                                                                                     This was the second high end palette I purchased and when I first purchased it I couldn’t put it down. I loved i so much that I just couldn’t stop using it. Flash forward 4 and 1/2 years later and this palette just doesn’t wow me anymore. If I’m not mistaken this is also a discontinued palette in their line. There are so many neutral palettes that have come out, better Neutral palettes, that I just can’t justify keep this palette around. I was underwhelmed with this palette today. There aren’t enough shade variations to make a cohesive look. There is no depth and no real wow factor with the shimmers. I have a ton of neutral palettes and I am in love with most of them…. This palette is a hard pass for me now so I have given it to my niece.

Stila Aqua Glow Serum Concealer: B-                                                                                               I have never really loved this concealer. It’s not light enough for my under eye. Because it’s a serum it feels too slick for under my eyes, almost greasy. It doesn’t cover enough and it sinks into my fine lines before I can set it. I don’t have very much of this concealer left so I am just going to use it up. I also just checked and it seems like it may have been discontinued anyway. I wont be sad when this one is used up.

Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able Full Cover Foundation Concentrate: B+                                            I do like the way this one looks on my face, however, it’s the wrong shade for me… way too deep. I don’t like the ball tip applicator, I end up getting foundation everywhere, and I don’t like how it seems to slip around the face if you don’t set it straight away. I wears pretty good throughout the day as well. I just was not as wowed with it as I was when I first purchased it. I have decided to declutter this one from my collection because I have other newer foundations that I just love so much more and are a better shade match for me.

20200131_144015

Well that’s all for now dolls. Stay tuned tomorrow when I test out another palette and foundation in the attempt to curate a good makeup collection. In the meantime I hope that you have a good rest of your day/night and as always, save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
