Soft Romantic Mulan Palette Face of the Day

Hey doll hey!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I didn’t get to sleep last night (well this morning) until 5 AM… and I awoke around 10:15 AM … so needless to say I am extremely fatigued and in a heap of pain.

Today’s perfume is JLo Glow…. Let’s jump into today’s Face of the Day …

Base:

I first primed my problematic pore areas with Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta) and then primed the full face using Makeup Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer ($37 at Sephora) in Smoothing. I then went in with Believe Beauty All Over Glow Illuminator ($5 only at Dollar General Stores) in the shade Golden Glow. My foundation I chose today was ColourPop No Filter Foundation ($12 on their website) in the shade Medium 100. I contoured using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora, on the Beautylish website, and on the Charlotte Tilbury website) in the shade Medium Dark to contour the perimeter of my face and down the bridge of my nose. I highlighted the tops of my cheek bones, bridge of the nose, center of the chin, and high points of my forehead using Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Glowgasm Light Wand ($38 on the Beautylish website, The Charlotte Tilbury website and at Sehora) in the shade Goldgasm and then I went in with just a touch of Benefit Boxed Highlighter ($30 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade cookie to set the high points of my face. I concealed my under eyes using Catrice Cosmetics Liquid Concealer High Coverage Concealer ($5.99 at Ulta) in the shade 005 Light Natural. I warmed up the perimeter of my face using Tarte Breezy Cream Bronzer ($29 on the Tarte website) in the shade Grace Bay (deep matte bronze). I set my under eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes ($28 at Ulta) in the shade 1 and then set the rest of my face using the  Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Setting Powder ($33 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. I then topped off  the perimeter of my face using a light layer of MAC Bronzing Powder ($30 at MAC) in the shade Matte Bronze. I chose the Flower Beauty Light Illusion Perfecting Powder ($13.99 at Ulta) in the shade Beige L4-M1.

Eyes:

I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 at Dollar General) in clear and then filled in my brows using Joah Brow Down To Me Precision Brow Pencil ($9.50 on their website) in the shade Brunette. I carved out the brow line using BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and then I primed my lids using P.Louise Base ($10 pound sterling/ $12.08 USD on their website… can also be found on the Morphie website for $15) in the shade Rumour 0.5. and then set the brow line using Wet n Wild Color Icon Single Shadow ($.99 at Walgreens) in Sugar (icy white pearl). For today’s eye look I used the new ColourPop Mulan Palette ($22 on their website). I started with the shade Fighter (peachy beige matte) to warm up the crease from crease to brow line. I then went into the shade Strength (rich terracotta matte) for the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and the outer v of the crease. I then went into the shade Loyal (rich red with gold flex foiled) and patted that over the middle 1/3 of my mobile lid. I then took the shade Like A Girl (silver taupe metallic) and patted that over the inner 1/3 of the mobile lid. I then took a small definer brush and a bit more of the shade Loyal and feathered out the edges of the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid. I then took the shade Guiding Spirit (deep red brown matte) and further defined the very outer part of the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid and the outer v of the crease. For the lower lash line I created a soft drop shadow with more of the shade Fighter and then I took more of the shade Strength and warmed up the lash line. I then defined the lash line using more of the shade Guiding Spirit. I high lighted my inner corners using the shade Strike A Match (icy champagne with pinpoints of bronze metallic).  I lined my lower waterlines using ColourPop BFF Gel Liner ($6 on their website) in the shade Get Paid (rose gold metallic. I coated my upper and lower lashes with 1 coat of Benefit Roller Lash Mascara ($25 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Black.

Final Thoughts:

ColourPop Mulan Palette: Grade A+++!!!: This is such a pleasant palette to work with. There was barely any kickback and I only had fallout on the face with the shade Like A Girl (there was a bit of glitter fallout that was easy to remove). The mattes are finely milled and the metallics are buttery. The foiled shadow was so creamy and so easy to apply. The mattes didn’t skip, buffed in beautifully, and did not get muddy when I buffed them into each other. At first glance this palette just looks like a neutral palette with a few pops of brightness peppered throughout… but the thing is this palette’s mid-tone shades have such great differences in undertone that the amount of looks you can get with this palette is limitless.

ColourPop Pressed Powder Blush in the shade Good Luck Charm: Grade A- : This is a pretty blush. I typically don’t like satin blushes because of the extra glow it gives the skin on top of my highlighter…. however this color is so pretty and just tied into this look so perfectly. This blush isn’t overly pigmented… I did have to go back into the pan a second time to get the best color payoff, but that’s not too bad. This blush is hard pressed so there was no kickback in the pan. It buffed into the checks without skipping or going patchy. I will definitely use this blush again.

ColourPop Creme Lux Lipstick in the shade Hua Mulan: Grade A++: What a pretty neutral color! It’s not too pink and not too brown it’s a happy even mix between the two. It’s not the longest lasting lip color (even with layering it over lip liner). It’s a creamy formula that has a bit of a powdery feeling (meaning it’s not a greasy feeling lip product). It doesn’t bleed or travel outside the lip line either. I sort of wished I would have purchased a second one because I can tell I will be using this a ton this summer.

Well that’s it for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

Remember dolls … save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
