Coral and Vivid Green Smokey Eye – Face of the Day

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope. I”m still a little tender in the muscles but all in all am doing pretty darn good today.

I decided to cycle out the Natasha Denona Mini Nude Palette as my bonus palette for my shopped stash and so I spun the Mini Decisions wheel that I have for all my new, unused palettes and it landed on the ColourPop Garden Variety Palette ($20 on their website) so I used it in today’s look. I will review this palette and a few other items in Final Thoughts.

Today’s scent is Armani Code ($50 at Ulta). The scent notes are… At the Top: African Bitter Orange, Italian Sweet Orange Ginger and Sambac Jasmine. In the Middle: Tunisian Orange Blossom and Seringa Flower (aka: Mock Orange Flowers). Rounded Out By: Vanilla, Honey, Lavender and Sandalwood.

Well, let’s jump into the walk through for today’s Face of the Day ….

Base:

I primed my face using I Heart Revolution Coconut Dream Hydrating Primer ($8 at Ulta) and primed my pores using Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta). I added a tough of glow using Pixi by Petra Flawless Beauty Primer ($22 at Target and on the Pixi website) to the high points of the face. I contoured my face using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Medium Dark. For foundation today I tested out the ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation ($14 on their website) in the shade 30N (neutral foundation for fair skin tones). I bronzed my face using Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer ($28 at Sephora) in Baked. I color corrected my under eyes using Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate ($12 at Target) in Brightening Peach. For concealer today I am using ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Creamy Concealer ($9 on their website) in the shade fair 20N (neutral concealer for fair skin tones). I highlighted the high points of my face using the ELF Jelly Highlighter ($6 on their website) in the shade Dew (gold).  I set my under eyes using the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($28 at Ulta and Sephora). I set the rest of my face using ELF Halo Glow Setting Powder ($8 on their website) in the color Light. I touched up the bronzer on my face using Flower Beauty Heat Wave Luminous Bronzer ($9 on their website) in the shade sun Swept. For touch ups I am using MAC Mineralize Skinfinish ($36 at Ulta) in the shade Medium Golden.

Eyes:

I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 only at Dollar General Stores) in clear and then filled in my bows using Pixi by Petra Endless Brow Gel Pen ($10.99 at Target) in the shade Deep. I carved out my brows using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the shimmer side and then primed my lids using the P Louise Base ($13.07 on their website or at Morphe’s website ) in the shade Rumour. For today’s eye look I used the ColourPop Garden Variety Palette ($20 on their website). For my transition shade I used the shade Prickly Please (pastel coral – matte). As my crease shade I used the color Stay Sharp (warm mid-tone brown – matte). I deepened the outer v and outer 1/3 of my mobile lid using the shade Root ‘em Up (deep green brown – matte). For the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid I used the shade Over the Bloom (true coral with silver and gold pearl – sequin matte). On the inner 1/3 of the mobile lid I used the shade Best Buds (icy vibrant green – metallic). I feathered this shade into the coral a little and also wrapped the same shade around my tear duct. For the lower lash line I started with more of the shade Stay Sharp (warm mid-tone brown – matte) and created a deep drop shadow. I then went in with more of the shade Over the Bloom (true coral with silver and gold pearl – sequin matte) and brought that from the lashes to mid way down the drop shadow. I then deepened the lash line using more of the shade Root ‘em Up (deep green brown – matte). I highlighted the inner corners of my eyes using the shade Wavelength (opal with a gold shift – metallic). I lined my lower waterlines using the ColourPop Lippie Pencil (Only available in the Big Box of Lippie Pencils Vault – currently out of stock) in the shade ALT (blackened teal). I coated my lashes with Benefit Roller Lash Mascara ($25 at Ulta and Sephora) and popped on a pair of Alter Ego False Lashes ($5 on their website) in the style Flare.

Cheeks and Lips:

For blush today I am wearing Sugar Rush – Beach Cheeks Cream Blush ($15 at Ulta) in the shade Beaches & Cream (peachy pink). I lightly set that with the shade Bashful (peachy coral – matte) from the Private Society Secret Admirer Palette ($42 on their website). I touched up my highlighter using Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder ($44 at Sephora) in the shade Highlight 01 (golden nude). I lined my lips using ColourPop Lippie Pencil (Only available in the Big Box of Lippie Pencils Vault – currently sold out) in the shade Another Round (rosey nude) and then topped off the lips with ColourPop Ultra Gloss Lip ($7 on their website) in the shade Spacemaker (pinky coral).

Final Thoughts:

ColourPop Garden Variety Palette ($20 for 17 grams of product on their website)

I grade this palette a solid A++ : It’s billed as a fresh 15-pan eyeshadow palette that is the perfect mix of vibrant pops of colour and rich earth tones. Featuring a range of finishes from matte, metallic, and our famous Super Shock Shadow formulas, create the most dimensional looks any time of year.

This is such a pretty palette and a joy to work with. The only reasons I did not grade it higher was that the kick back in the pans is super intense (the shadows are very soft and finely milled), the fall out is very messy, and the 2 metallics I used were a bit fiddly to work with. The green shade, Best Buds, was a bit hard to build up (even with wetting the brush with setting spray) and the Opal shade, Wavelength, was a tiny bit flaky. The deep brown shade, Root ‘em Up, was just a wee bit patchy but was easy to correct with a bit more blending than I normally do with my shadows. Now this could be because it didn’t work well with the shade Prickly Please as pastel shades can be a bit difficult to buff other shadows into. I say this because the only part that went patchy was the very top of the outer v where the brown met the pastel coral.

Other than those little issues this was a super great palette.

ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation ($16 for 1 fluid ounce on their website)

I grade this foundation a solid A+++!!! : It’s billed as a skin-perfecting, medium-buildable coverage foundation that creates a healthy, skin-like finish. You get coverage and hydration with the same good-for-you ingredients like hyaluronic acid, for your healthiest looking skin ever. It comes in 43 shades (7 for fair, 7 for light, 14 for medium, and 14 for deep skin tones) I purchased 20N (neutral foundation for fair skin tones) and 30N (neutral foundation for fair skin tones).

I tested out the shade 30N today and it actually was a perfect match for me. It was super easy to blend into my skin, it melted into the skin seamlessly with little buffing needed, and is super hydrating. It’s also very light weight and doesn’t look like I am wearing foundation at all.

This foundation does not set down (even after 5 minutes of testing to see if it would oxidize, which it did not) so you will need to set it if you are in a humid climate like I am here in Florida.

This is a demi-satin finished foundation with full coverage and is an amazing little find. I am glad that I purchased it in the other shade as well so that I have a shade lighter for the winter.

ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Creamy Concealer  ($9 for .30 fluid ounces on their website).

I grade this concealer a solid A+++!!! : It’s billed as a creamy, cushiony, full coverage concealer that seamlessly blends into the skin leaving a natural, fresh finish with skin-loving, hyaluronic acid (aka ha) and coconut water to hydrate the skin, while full coverage pigments cover and correct blemishes, this combo leaves you with fresh, perfected skin that lasts all day. It comes in 30 shades (10 for light.medium, and deep skin) I purchased fair 20N (neutral concealer for fair skin tones).

I already knew I loved this concealer, I just had it my perfect skin tone match and I really wanted one lighter for highlighting my under eyes and center of my face. It’s an amazing concealer for this price point.

ColourPop Ultra Gloss Lip ($7 for .11 fluid ounces on their website).

I grade this lip gloss a solid A+++ !!! : It’s billed as a high shine gloss with medium-coverage, crème (never sticky) finish in a moisturizing and comfortable formula enriched with jojoba oil to moisturize, nourish, and provide a cushiony feel for juicy, fuller-looking lips and claims that the brush applicator applies a perfect plush layer that looks and feels amazing. It’s sold in 7 shades and I purchased it in the shade Spacemaker (pinky coral).

I really love this formula. It’s comfortable and feels hydrating and has just the right amount of pigmentation. I am keen to try other shades now.

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and health.

XOXO, Nita
