Coastal Scents 3 Review and Face of the Day

Why good morning dolls!! How are you today? I’m still a little sad today but I got plenty of rest so I’m alert. I have a moderate pain today.

Today we continue with the Coastal Scents Revealed 3D palette.

This palette has a mix of browns and purples. Finally!!! This palette has a mix of matte, satin, and metallic shadows.  There are no Urban Decay dupes today with this palette but I’m OK with that! This palette is amazing! There is no kick back, the shadows are buttery and finely milled. The metallics are just a tiny bit chalky in this palette but nothing to over the top. Like the first 2 palettes, there are 20 shades and none have names …. that’s a little frustrating when you are trying to explain what you used for your look, but it’s not a deal braker.

For today’s look I went monochromatic and chose the brown sades, since my last look was berries and plums.  There was some fall out with the darker metallic shades but I had tape down so it didn’t really matter to me today.

I would give this palette an A. If there was a deeper brown this palette would get an A+.

So on to the face of the day….

Base:  Today I mixed the Cover FX Custom Cover Drops ($29 at Ulta, Sephore and the Hourglass website)  in with my Hour Glass Veil Mineral Primer ($54 at Sephora). For concealer I chose NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($30 at Ulta, Sephora, and the NARS website) in the color Custard. I set my whole face, including  under eyes, with the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Ulta, Sephora, and the Laura Mercier website) in translucent. I bronzed my face with the ELF Contour Palette ($8 on their website) in the color light/medium.

Eyes: I primed with the Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta and the Tarte website) in the color light medium honey. I used the Coastal Scents Revealed 3D palette ($20 on their website). I set the Shape Tape with the second color on the top (a cream matte). For my transition I chose the 3rd color on the top (a medium true brown matte). My crease color is the 8th color on the bottom (a dusty medium brown with grey undertones matte).I deepened the outer 1/3 of my lid with the 5th shade of the top (a shimmery taupe metallic). I deepened the outer v with the 6th shade on the bottom (a dark shimmery true brown metallic). Across the rest of the lid I chose the 4th shade on the top (a creamy pale peach metallic). I used the BH Cosmetics Brow Highlighter Crayon ($5 on their website) on the matte side and set the brow bone with the first shade on the top of the Revealed 3D palette (a vanilla matte). I highlighted the inner corner with Urban Decay single shadow ($20 at Ulta and on the Urban Decay website) in the color Midnight Cowboy (a pale flesh toned shimmer with silver glitter). My brows are a combo of  ELF Ultra Precise Brow Pencil ($5 ontheir website) and Wow Brow ($4 on their website). On my water line I am using the NYX Faux Whites Pencil ($8 at Ulta and on the NYX website) in the color Linen. I used the Loreal Voluminous Primer and the Carbon Black Mascara combo. (each $5.70 at Target).

Cheeks and Lips:  I used the ELF Blush Palette ($8 on their website) in light and I selceted the coral shade on the upper right corner. I highlighted using the ELF Illuminating Palette ($8 on their website) and selected the lower left corner for my face and upper left for my cupid’s bow.  My lip combo today I lined my lips with NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta and on the NYX website) in the color Whipped Caviar and Loreal Infallible Lip Paints (discontinued) in the color 314 Spicy Blush.

Final Thoughts:

I am doing a stand alone follow up review of the Cover FX Drops so let skip to the concealer…..  NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer comes in 16, 7 of which are for deeper skin. There is .21 ounces of product. It’s a dryer formula and a little is all you need. I had purchased this last year and never used it for more than to carve my eye brows with. This is the first time I try this concealer under my eyes. It’s matte so you don’t need to set it. I noticed no creasing with it. The only thing is because it is matte there isn’t a glow under the eyes. It’s not a brightening concealer either so I should have used my color corrector, but I wanted to see how well this concealer covered the under eyes. It does a really good job. It’s give it an A+.

The ELF Contour Palette is a good palette, it has a highlighter, brightening powder, and 2 bronze shades…. the second of which is a stain. It’s a nice palette for everyday bronzing. The bronze shades are just pigmented enough for an everyday look. I would give it a solid B+. It the main bronze color were a bit more pigmented I would have given it an A+.

Coastal Scents Revealed 3D palette, like I said earlier, gets an A. You can definitely get more than 1 look with this palette, it is just missing a deeper brown color. What I am noticing about the Revealed collection is that they just keep getting better. For purposes of reviewing the Revealed line, I haven’t looked at all the palettes. I want to go into each review with new eyes. This is definitely a palette I will reach for again.

The ELF Blush Palette is a great little travel buddy. The product is very pigmented. The palette’s shades are cohesive but just different enough that you will get 4 distinctive looks with this little palette. I give it an A. It could use a dusty coral but the satin coral in the palette is good too.

The ELF Illuminating Palette is just a standard highlight.  The powders are a bit chalky but blend into the skin seamlessly. I give the palette an A- because I feel like it could be improved by having a satin gold in the palette…. but that is just a preference thing.

I am bummed that the Loreal Infallible Lip Paints are discontinued! They are so good. It’s a liquid Lipstick that feels like a gloss, but it doesn’t come off sticky. The pigmentation is awesome on this lippies. I have them in 4 colors but I gravitate to the color Spicy Blush more than any of the other shades I own. It’s the perfect pink nude. I give this product an A++.  You can still find this product on line at CVS.com and Riteaid.com .

Well that’s all for now dolls. Remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
