First Attempt at a Fox Eye Face of the Day

Hey doll hey!! How’s our day/night going? Mine’s is a total mess. It started out great. I got up early made breakfast for the family (cheesy scrambles eggs, sausage, toasted Puerto Rican sweetened bread, and homemade hash browns).  I even got to work on my makeup and that’s when things went all wonky.

I attempted to do the foxy eye trend. I ended up scrapping the look 4 times today…. the look in the pictures is attempt #5 and I just didn’t have it in me to do it another time… my body hurts, my eyes are sore, and it’s getting late…. I finished this attempt around 7 PM  So I was going to just take off all my makeup and not do a Face of the Day post for today… but then I thought…. every new trend takes time to master… and not ever look we do is going to be perfect…. I find beauty in imperfection …. so I decided to do the post after all.

It’s not my best work … but I think I will try it again tomorrow …. today I used shadow shields to create the feline flick and it sort of made the look curve a bit…. so tomorrow I’ll try it with tape and see if it comes out better….. I’m also going to do a tiny bit more research on how to do this better…. It’s also worth noting that I got sunscreen in my left eye and so it kept watering and that caused the shadow to lift in the inner corner area and also cause the shadow to deepen in the center of the mobile lid … so hopefully I have a better go at it tomorrow. Also, This look really calls for straight brow lines … most people have been shaving the tails of their brows to achieve this harsh brow line … I refused to do this since I’m on a brow growing journey and I also have microblading so I wont be able to get that perfect straight brow look anyway. I made them as lifted as I could.

For today’s attempt I used the ColourPop  Coconuts Palette ($12 on their website) again.

I opted not to wear perfume today since I feel nauseous because of the amount of pain I’m in from sitting at my beauty station so long… I didn’t want to aggravate my all ready upset tummy….

So…. let’s jump into today’s Face of the Day …..

Base:

I first primed my problematic pore areas with Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39 at Ulta) and then primed the full face using VDL Lumilayer Primer ($32 at Ulta). My foundation today is Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation ($10.99 at Ulta but on sale right now for $7.69) in the shade 030 Sand Beige. I concealed my under eyes using 2 dots only per under eye of Too Faced Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer ($29 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Vanilla. I contoured using Charlotte Tilbury Contour Wand ($38 at Sephora) in the shade Medium/Dark. I highlighted the tops of my cheek bones, bridge of the nose, center of the chin, and high points of my forehead using Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand ($38 on the Beautylish website) and then I went in with just a touch of Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter ($44 at Sephora and the Beautylish website) on just the highest points of my face. I set my under eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes ($28 at Ulta) in the shade 1 and then set the rest of my face using the  Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Setting Powder ($33 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Translucent. I then warmed up the perimeter of my face using MAC Bronzing Powder ($30 at MAC) in the shade Matte Bronze. I went back over the high points of my face with Benefit Boxed Highlighter ($30 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade Cookie (golden pearl). I did not need a touch up powder since I always take my makeup off by 10 PM at the latest and I didn’t finish my makeup until 7 PM.

Eyes:

I set my brows using Believe Beauty Eyebrow Styling Gel ($4 at Dollar General) in clear and then filled in my brows using  Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta and Sephora) in the shade 4.5 and then I primed my lids using NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($30 at Sephora) in the shade Medium 1 Custard (I chose this one instead of the P Louise one because with this look the majority of your lid space needs to be kept blank … skin toned… and the P Louise one is light enough that it looks white on me) and I also used a little of this to cut my brow line. I started by setting my primed lids from lash to brow bone with Wet n Wild Icon Shadow Single ($.99 at Walgreens) in the shade Creme Brulee (a matte shade close to my actual skin tone) For today’s eye look I used the ColourPop Going Coconuts Palette ($12 on their website). I started by applying a shadow shield ($9.99 on Amazon) to both eyes matching it up with my lower lash line. I used a pencil brush and went into the shade Lovely Bunch (mid tone yellow brown matte) and I buffed it from the edge of the shadow shield in a angle from the brow to about 1/3 across the mobile lid. I buffed it out so there was no harsh lines on the inner part of the shadow. I then went into the shade Shell Yeah (neutral ginger brown matte) and did the same thing I did with the first shade except I used a smaller pencil brush and dropped back against the shadow shield slightly so I was applying Shell Yeah lower along the line I had created. I buffed the shadow out along the inner part of the line so there wasn’t a harsh delineation between the 2 shades. I then switched to an even smaller pencil brush and went into the shade Nutty (deep umber matte) and dropped back even further along the shadow shield and repeated the same as with the other 2 shades except I also took this one all the way along the lash line very close to the lashes. I then took Pretty Vulgar Ink Gel Eye Liner ($24) in the color Black and deepened up closest to the lash line and the outer part of the shadow. I also used this liner to create cat eye points at the tear duct area. I lined my upper and lower waterlines using Charlotte Tilbury The Classic Eye Powder Pencil ($22 at Sephora) in the shade Audrey (classic brown). I then went back into the shade Shell Yeah and smudged that along the lower lash line creating a subtle drop shadow. I went back into the shade Nutty and smudged that on directly on the lower lashes and then buffed the whole under eye out using the more of the shade Lovely Bunch. . I coated just the outer parts of my  upper and lower lashes with 1 coat of Flower Beauty Lash Warrior Mascara ($9.99 at Ulta) in the shade Fiercest Black. My left eye kept watering so the liner at the tear duct kept lifting… so I went back into the shade Nutty and filled in the gap that this was creating.

Cheeks and Lips:

I applied my blush with the rest of my cream products since I was using a Super Shock Cheek blush…. and then set it when I set the rest of my face I used ColourPop Super Shock Cheek ($8 on their website) in the shade Quarters (a mid-toned peachy coral satin). I lined and filled in my lips using NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta) in the shade Wipped Caviar (a reddish pink nude) and then topped that off with Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick ($22 at Ulta) in the shade Patina (dusty rose matte) and topped the lip off with NARS Lip Gloss ($24 at Sephora) in the shade Stripe Tease (champagne nude).

Final Thoughts:

For having so much difficulty with this look I think the final attempt didn’t come out half as bad as I thought in my mind. There is room for improvement but that’s the beauty in makeup … you always have room to hone your craft.

Tomorrow I don’t think I will be doing a Face of the Day post…. I really need the extra energy to clean my ever growing dirty makeup brush collection…. I will try and at least attempt it but my first priority is to clean my brushes….

Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your night/day.

Remember … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.

XOXO
